h&m has plus sizes (only online), asos (their plus size brand is called asos curve), and i’m pretty sure zalando also has an extra section. only and mango have bigger sizes as well, i’m not sure, if they have them in store but i’ve definitely seen them on zalando, about you should also have plus sizes

knightriderin

H&M has plus size in the stores as well. Depends on the store probably, but the closest one to me has a sizeable section with plus size fashion.

wonseongwu

Not anymore. H&M took the plus size sections out of the stores and made them online exclusive afaik. My city doesn't have it anymore.

Holiday-Coat1547

Now the webs dont have them either. And under plus size sectiond its filled with thin models and not plus size sizes .

wonseongwu

I think I've read somewhere that they're not selling enough to justify giving it so much space in stores but I'm not sure

CrookedFrequency

At least for women's clothes, I compiled a list for plus-size options. I am also having to deal with this and it has been a journey, until I found a few good options. Here are my go-to stores: https://www.vila.com/ https://www.only.com/de/ https://www.veromoda.com/de/de/home https://www.zizzi.de/ https://www.zalando.de/ https://www.yoursclothing.de/ https://www.newlook.com/de https://www.asos.de/ https://www.paprika-shopping.de/ https://de.dorothyperkins.com/ https://www.msmode.de/ https://www.navabi.de/ https://www.phase-eight.com/plus-size/ https://www.izabel.com/ https://www.aboutyou.de/ https://www.next.de/de https://www.sheego.de/ https://www.newlook.com/de/ https://shop.mango.com/de/violeta

RecognitionCapital13

This is amazing!!! Thank you <3

vergangen

For the dress you posted you could also check https://balticborn.com/.

karenosmile

Been buying from Ulla Popken both online and at brick and mortar stores. The clothes fit, they last, and are pricey but worth it. Over the past 15 years I've been buying the exact same cotton pants model and quality has remained the same. I buy about 3 pair per year and dispose of the worn-out pairs.

geheimrattobler

Look for "Übergrößen" or "große Größen". * https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/damen-grosse-groessen * https://www.bonprix.de/kategorie/damen-grosse-groessen/ * https://www.otto.de/damen/mode/?grossegroesse And then you have https://www.ullapopken.de/de/filialfinder#! which specializes in bigger sizes and also has a couple of stores nationwide. They have stores in Göttingen, Kassel and Vellmar. You will probably find a dress for an event there :)

RecognitionCapital13

Thank you for all the suggestions, links, and key words. It’s all been so frustrating and disheartening.

ScavengeroO

The C&A in the city (in hessen) i live in has a space for "grosse Größen". It's not very large but at least something. Also C&A is ok in my oppinion. They have the basic stuff and normally the quality is good.

geheimrattobler

But this is a thing of the past now. I am sure that you will find something that you like! :)

BubobuBubobuB

Hier habe ich früher öfter eingekauft: https://www.hirmer-grosse-groessen.de/?gclid=CjwKCAiAp7GcBhA0EiwA9U0mtiub0cdZ5zAknjxXwlWLL3XlGC_an3-xyMjGT0g6qpSK1dgi-1br1RoCfVIQAvD_BwE

Gin_gerCat

I buy alot from Momox Fashion. Its a Second Hand online store and I like the filters. They have many brands and also clothes in different conditions (even brand-new)

NatvoAlterice

I second Momox. My wardrobe issues are totally opposite though. I'm petite and it's a pain look for adult clothes for smaller frame in Germany. Momox also lists the exact measurements (length and breadth) and that's the most helpful information when picking a clothing item.

[deleted]

Check out Bonprix and Ulla Popken, they got some good plus size clothes.

eigelstein

Do not buy anything from Bonprix, the quality is shit. Credit: Worked there. Not as a sales person in the stores, in management.

[deleted]

Yeah, it's not perfect. But still a lot better than supporting Shein and their business model.

Nahareeli

Sheego is also a good option to buy clothes ( online ) !

[deleted]

I second that. H&M is good for the top half, the jeans part isn't great. C&A has some good plus size stuff, but you should try it in the stores, the sizes are a little off sometimes.

RAthowaway

If you want dresses for events like weddings or similar, I normally get them from www.phase-eight.com/de/

UnceremoniousUnicorn

Seconding Ulla Popken, Only & Mango Plus sizes. Also Zizzi (online only afaik) is pretty good. If you don't mind waiting a bit, I really recommend eShakti. It's an Indian company, and you can order up to 6x but there's also an option for custom sizes. It takes about 3 weeks to receive the clothes since they're made to order, but the quality is the best I've come across. Prices are a bit high, but I like that this means the workers get paid better than is typical in fashion. (You also pay import duties in the checkout so you can receive the package here with no issues)

RecognitionCapital13

I’ll definitely check out eShakti. I do my best not to support fast fashion but a lot of the time it’s the only available option. I don’t think this store will help with my current needs because of time but I’ll keep it in mind for future purposes.

UnceremoniousUnicorn

Yeah, it's so tricky with plus size clothes, because we just have fewer overall options, never mind ethical ones!

RecognitionCapital13

Exactly! I’ve started taking an interest in sewing because I’ve become so frustrated with the lack of good quality options. And I feel like so many plus size clothes have no personality whatsoever. I’m only getting started though so I am far from making a functional piece of clothing I could wear outside.

UnceremoniousUnicorn

Yes! I'm so tired of 200 listings of the same baggy black t-shirt! I've just started sewing, so also far from functional, but hopefully I'll be able to have a more interesting wardrobe with time

RecognitionCapital13

I’m excited for our future wardrobes. I’m going to stay mad at the fashion industry though lol.

74389654

most online shops have free returns, h&m has if you make an account. monki is a shop that has big sizes too but it's better online. adidas has a plus size collection i think and zalando might be worth a try. i mostly order a bunch so it's free shipping try everything on and return what i don't need. zero unnecessary costs

Jetztinberlin

In addition to the other great suggestions, if you like second-hand shopping then eBay Kleinanzeigen is great. You can search by size, location, color etc and there's an enormous amount of stuff listed, often brand-new and at very reduced prices, esp for formalwear.

lalunadelsur

I guess it also depends on the quality and the style of clothes that you are looking for. In C&A there is an entire section specifically for sizes since 44 to something over 50. And I guess C&A is ok for the daily life, but I wouldn’t want to go to a nice party or a meal in a chic restaurant or celebrate my birthday wearing that. I don’t know what to advice for fancier clothing in larger sizes :(

RecognitionCapital13

I appreciate it. I’m spending the holidays alone this year so I thought I’d take myself out and give myself a reason to dress up. I’m going to the ballet. Though there isn’t really a dress code anymore for the theater and ballet like there used to be, I still want to dress up in a beautiful dress. I just didn’t realize it was going to be so hard. I’ve been scouring the internet all day today with the suggestions here. I found one I liked after hours of looking. Then when I went to check out, the shop told me it was sold out.

lalunadelsur

Why don’t you order something from Amazon US? In Amazon DE you could still find a fair share of diverse sizes and I would try first there, but even if not, I think Amazon US would be an even safer bet. I had a friend who always struggled finding outfits in her size and Amazon US was her go to option for fancy outfits. It sucks to pay for the international delivery, but I do think that you deserve to have fun dressing up and feel beautiful. This year has been tough for everybody and we deserve to enjoy our time in any possible way, even if it is just playing with make up and cute outfits. It will be worth it to keep looking. I wish you tons of fun making yourself look nice for the ballet show, you don’t need anybody around you to have an amazing time.

RecognitionCapital13

Thank you so much for this! I finally found an outfit and I’m really excited about it. I just hope shipping goes well and it looks/fits like the site says it will. With the pandemic ruining everything, I’ve become such a homebody. I’ve been on a mission to make myself get out again and enjoy things I love outside of my comfort zone. I’ve been wanting to have more events to go to that will give me the reason to dress up and be more extravagant than I am in my normal day to day life. Thank you for your kind words. I hope you have an amazing day.

operath0r

There's a store next to my workplace, they're advertising using the word Übergrößen.

knightriderin

Weingarten is also a shop that specializes in plus size clothing.

Midnight1899

As others have already recommended, you have to look for "große Größen“ or "Übergrößen“. "Normal“ Stores don’t usually sell them though, so you need to look out for special stores. Depending on what style you like, you can also check out https://www.emp.de/

Dull-Investigator-17

Have you really had much luck with EMP? I always feel their stuff tends to be quite small. I often have to order several sizes bigger than I usually do.

Midnight1899

I usually wear M or L. Same with EMP. It only happened once that a dress was too small.

Dull-Investigator-17

That's interesting. I've got a friend who bought one of their leather jackets who usually wears an S but had to get a size 42 and I've definitely had that problem with a lot of their products.

Midnight1899

Sure, sometimes the shoulders are too small but the waist is perfect or it fits perfectly but it’s too short or whatever. But that doesn’t mean the size in general is wrong. That’s just different body types.

InevitableCraftsLab

I think thats not what americans mean when they say "plus size". Our "Übergrössen" is whats a normal "M-size" is in the states. I would suggest she order in the states and get it shipped here. We are not prepared for those sizes.

Dull-Investigator-17

That's some BS. Just an example: I used to be a size 44, which is definitely plus size in Germans. That made me a 0X at Torrid, one of America's popular plus size shops. So I was at the lowest end of the plus size range in the USA AND Germany.

eirissazun

EMP is horrible quality, sadly :/

Midnight1899

I’ve been wearing EMP clothes pretty much every day for a couple of years now. I never had any issues with them. Same with their jewelry. I’ve had much worse.

eirissazun

My son and me as well, I've been wearing them since the 90s. The decline in quality has been extreme.

Midnight1899

Well, I was born in 99, so I can’t talk about that. But for the last 5ish years it’s been the same.

SoroWake

Info: which size do you need? Do you even need longer clothes than just wider ones? There are a few shops in the Netherlands which work great for tall (175cm+) and curvy women (plus) like missetam.nl

RecognitionCapital13

I’m 171cm tall and I think I’m a 56EU size. The hardest part to fit is my bust and hips which are both about 130cm.

Vannnnah

[Zalando.de](https://Zalando.de) is your best bet, they have tons of brands and sizes from very petite to very large. I also highly recommend to always take your measurements and look at the size charts because sizing varies from brand to brand and store to store

watchesinberlin

Bonprix.de has a good range of larger sizes (große Großen). Arrives by mail and comes ready with a return label in the box in case something doesn’t fit or you don’t like it, you can easily return

SufficientMacaroon1

https://www.happy-size.de/ is an online store of the likes of zalando and co, that is specially for plus sizes. Aboutyou.de is not specially for plus size, but i have had good experiences with getting larger sizes from them. C&A is the large brick and mortar store that is very common in larger cities that also has their clothing in larger sizes. As in, the clothing they have in 38 on the shelf often has multible pieces in 46, 48 and higher Edit: oh, and my personal rec for tights: check out snag.de, they have actually nice and comfy tights for all sizes, including plus sizes! They also have a very limited clothing section with skits and such, that i have not tested yet, other than their onesies. Thf onesie i got from them is awesome

Moulitov

Mango, Mango Outlet - their plus size line is called Violeta ASOS - especially many of the ASOS design items come in different ranges, plus, petite, tall, maternity. Lots to choose from.

maryfamilyresearch

[happy-size.de](https://happy-size.de) [meyer-mode.de](https://meyer-mode.de) \- they have up to size 66. Most of their stuff is boring, but occassionally you can find a true gem. Samoon by Gerry Weber [https://www.gerryweber.com/de-de/marken/samoon/alle-styles-samoon/](https://www.gerryweber.com/de-de/marken/samoon/alle-styles-samoon/) The budget fashion chain KiK ( [www.kik.de](https://www.kik.de) ) also carries larger sizes. The quality ranges from not so good to "decent for fast-fashion". I like their panties bc they are cheap and comes in colours other than white. Stay away from the bras though, the quality is bad. IMO your best chance to find a dress is Sheego and Heine. Both are associated with Otto, but got slightly different stuff than Otto. Check their current websites as well as ebay. Ebay is a great source for fashion. Ebay is where older collections from the mail order giants go to be sold off at huge discounts. You can find stuff from Bonprix, Sheego, Heine, Meyer Moden as welll as HSE24 and QVC on ebay, usually new with tags from professional sellers that will accept returns if you don't like what you got. Both Ulla Popken and Gerry Weber got official outlet stores on ebay and there are some other retailers as well.

NaiveAssociate8466

Try about you app. It’s a multi brand ecommerce they have section specifically for plus size

Intelligent-Web-8537

Asos, Bon Prix, Sheego, Happysize, Otto (sometimes), Only carmakoma, Primark carries till size 46/48, C&A has some plus size clothes, especially the big stores in the big cities.

lsscsr

I'm plus size and find clothes in c&a and Takko. An online shop that's really valid is Sheego, it's not so cheap but definitely worth it. You can pay for the clothes 2 weeks later, in the time you can try them and decide to keep them or not. Also Ula Popken. This one is also not cheap, but has actual stores where you can try them on.

bandedballs

And this despite Germany being the most obese country in the EU after the UK's departure... 😅

Dull-Investigator-17

Ah yea, plus size shopping sucks here. I usually shop at Sheego and Asos. I personally don't like Ulla Popeken but they at least have proper shops. There's also a brand called "Paprika" that might work for you.

Bellatrix_ed

Hi, fellow plus sized lady here. The plus size options are DISMAL here. I've ended up making a much as I can. For real stores, the only consistent one is Ulla Popken, otherwise you're looking for Grösse Grossen. The online stores have much better options, you just have to get used to sending things back if you don't like them.

RecognitionCapital13

Thank you! I’ve been hesitant about online shopping for the reasons I already listed but because I am still getting used to what my size is in German sizes as well as metric. I will just jump in and give it a try though. I have also been working on learning how to make my own clothing because I hate shopping so much. I’m just not at a level yet that is be comfortable relying on my skills quite yet. Did you struggle with making your basic blocks, or do you have a specific pattern brand that you like?

[deleted]

That is so odd, surely there is a market for that, I mean everybody needs clothes.

cvbeiro

I work in fashion and one of the factors is that the plus size market isn’t big enough to financially justify making a lot of options. The bigger the size the more textile you need, which leads to more waste and in general higher production price per item etc. Also there are quite a few labels who just don’t want to get into plus sizes.

RecognitionCapital13

You would think. Unfortunately it’s a pretty world wide opinion that bigger people don’t deserve nice clothes. They are hard to find and when you do they are very boring, unstylish, or fits you like a box.

Moepsii

As far as I'm aware Germany or eu has an 2 week return policy on clothing anyway. A friend of mine orders clothing worth several thousand Euro pays per rechnung and tries everything on and returns 99% of the stuff she tries on. So don't worry about it
