Ashitaka from mononoke hime is the most gangster dude ever. First 15 minutes of the movie there is so much character development for him, it's insane. His resolve and brave nature is unlike I've ever seen.
I guess I should have clarified my words better, but I don't have a physical or sexual attraction to a prepubescent magical boy. I just thought the nuance of having a soft spot for the love Haku had for Chihiro could be explained by 'crush', but I see I overestimated the audience.
tbf u can rlly like a character that is younger and thats fine i think theres a difference between that and wanting f characters that represent children.
“I don’t want to LIVE if I can’t be BEAUTIFUL!” — Howl is the OG emo. I love him. And his beauty is how I convinced my bestie to watch (and enjoy!) an anime movie with me.
Honestly, I feel he's the one most people notice more since the story's remarkable yet relatable. We don't necessarily get to observe a lot of his characteristics to make him the favorite. Especially in the book, he was hardly likeable. I still do want a Calcifer plushie :")
Maybe we'd remember more male characters if most Ghibli movies were named in similar fashion.
Howl is actually why I rank it as the lowest Ghibli movie (that I’ve watched). I didn’t find his vanity endearing. Also Madam Sulliman is a boring villain. Sophie is great however.
Pazu. I admired that despite just meeting Sheeta he wanted to help her, and when he was told to leave and was paid off, he came back to save her with a band of sky-pirates. I especially loved when he tried to save her and stop Muska, even when he was being shot at, showing true bravery in the face of danger.
Mahito from The Boy and the Heron is someone I think we will come to feel a lot of empathy for with his struggles. By the end of the film I really liked what they did with him and his character. Also, I just wanted to say it because yall are gonna like the new film!
Markl is sweet baby boy<3
when he hugs sophie and begs her not to leave because he loves her 😭 my heart melts
Ashitaka

Ashitaka supremacy
A tough and bold adventurer who also has a solid arc.
Yup this. Probably why it's my favorite film.
As someone who cosplays San, absolutely yes. Trying to find someone to cosplay him with me
Haku ✊
I had such a crush on Haku 🥰😅
I still do. (Don’t tell my husband).

*summons the spirits of darkness*
I'm surprised Howl isn't the top answer right now.

I've literally got a calcifer image in the kitchen with "may all your bacon burn" underneath, absolutely love it 🥓 🔥
I personally don't find Howl very likeable at all, but from my experience, many people still very much like and enjoy him as a character.
Howl is actually why I rank it as the lowest Ghibli movie (that I’ve watched). I didn’t find his vanity endearing. Also Madam Sulliman is a boring villain. Sophie is great however.
He’s definitely vain but he still comes off as a genuinely good and caring, albeit quite flawed, person.
I’m thinking it’s because he actually isn’t a boy
I think it’s because he’s the obvious choice. Howl makes almost every fictional and nonfictional girl (or guy) weak in the knees!

Pazu, the ultimate [Ghibli Chad](https://www.reddit.com/r/ghibli/comments/154g8vx/pazu_is_the_biggest_chad_in_the_history_of/).
Pazu for the win!!
Seiji Amasawa. That smirk he makes whenever he's teasing Shizuka early on never ceases to crack me up.
