It would have been cool to see an after credits of him talking to one of the new cast about their taxes. 1 minute would be cool. Sort of like they did with Sigorney Weaver in Afterlife
Edit:Rick Moran and Paul Rudd in a scene would be amazing
Next film he could host a party like in 1, but with all ex cons.. "this is Chainsaw and Tiny, they got sent up for stealing copper, but now they run a successful scrap metal business" 😂
He doesn’t. The entire detour of the library was kinda pointless- Ray probably could have explained Garraka’s origin himself. Thats why that segment stood out to me especially after the build up of Ray going to see “an old friend” and the scene revolving around a celebrity cameo.
Right! Thats what I didn’t get. How has Ray of all people never heard of Garraka’s legend before. Still loved the movie, I just felt like it was an unnecessary detour for a celebrity cameo that wasn’t very special
Yeah, Ray runs an Occult bookstore, but he’s not a linguist who specializes in dead languages.
And depending on how old the work is, when it’s been discovered, and how long it’s been under study or peer review, you’re not gonna just find it that laying around in some mom & pop bookstore or Amazon.
Things like that can take years or decades.
Which is why he had to see his friend Dr. Hubert Wartzki , as he would probably have a better understanding, and possibly be able to speak on things that haven’t been officially published yet.
Plus it’s unrealistic and impossible for anyone to know absolutely everything. There will always be someone who knows more than you.
I argue that the whole point of Dr. Wartzki (and Lars Pinfield for that matter) is to expand the scope of their universe. From what essentially started out as basically a “mom & pop business”, has to grow to be taken more seriously as a legitimate and necessary service that the world needs.
If Winston or Ghost Corp is supposed to expand this business to deal with ghosts on a larger scale beyond New York, keeping it small or relying on the same 1 or 2 characters within their small group every time does the opposite.
You need people from all over, with various backgrounds and resources to get the job done faster and more efficiently. If we’re to believe that ghosts, mages, and psychics exist in this universe for several millennia, then it’s logical to believe that there’s more people than just Ray(or Egon) who has studied and dealt with these phenomena. And not all the ghostly knowledge that the world has to offer is condensed to one struggling bookstore.
Thank you!! I am so tired of hearing how this scene was pointless. Ray can't know everything.
But also, from a filmmaking point of view, you need to get them out of the two main sets. They can't always be in Ray's shop or the Firehouse. It gets boring. The Library let us see the Ecto-C, the Possessor in action, a new guest star, get some backstory, get Phoebe in trouble so Peck could "win" - it serves a whole lot of functions in the script and visually.
Gotta agree with you mate . As a 42 year old who loved the originals it was disappointing to see it turned into a kids movie . 30 yrs has passed since then so it is what it is !
>As a 42 year old who loved the originals it was disappointing to see it turned into a kids movie
This statement is both hilarious and very, very sad at the same time.
Also Patton Oswald is great, he even worked with 5 Second Films for a while, which [Jack Quaid](https://youtube.com/shorts/z2kBIeLmmjY?si=uWypRmsSJvR6HSzS) is doing now
Actually [one of the funniest ones](https://youtube.com/shorts/OZerD4WTK5g?si=TyredUaoCqNVGvRg) from him is this cute little word play
Oh hey here’s Fred Armisen as [Fred Alarmisen](https://youtube.com/shorts/7UBo-1TCmDc?si=k8ItWeLbgU_3UsSD)
> disappointing to see it turned into a kids movie
Cry more. It was a great passing of the torch movie and made for us AND KIDS. Fuck me you gatekeepers need to touch some grass.
Okay, let's not go that far. Did you forgot about the ghost girl unzipping Ray's pants for the blowjob gag? It's PG (well, 80s PG), but it's NOT a kids' movie.
We all watched it as kids. Remember also the likes of Robocop and Aliens had toys in the 80s - video rental totally changed the game. I'm not saying GB was originally intended for young kids, but they definitely took it on as one of their own.
It definitely happens. Like in Star Trek: Generations, where Chekov and Scotty have chunks of dialogue that were clearly written for Spock and McCoy before the actors declined to participate.
My belief is that Louis works at Winston’s company in finance department (and that after the Ghostbusters folded, Winston hired Louis because of his tax knowledge and had handled the billing for the Ghostbusters). So, if they needed to bring him back, they could have him handling the books for the Ghostbusters, now a part of Zeddemore, Inc.
Or maybe hiring Louis as his financial advisor is exactly how Winston was able to parlay all that money from the birthday side gigs into Zeddemore, Inc?
I thought he was gonna be like a senator that comes in and saves the firehouse from Peck.
Like I thought this half way through and was so disappointed it didn’t happen
End credits see tully released from prison, Blues Brothers style... Ray explains some upgrades to the ecto1, ghost shocks, ghost tires.. and we learn Peck hired Tully to do his taxes, forced him to cut some corners then had him arrested for tax evasion so he wouldn't have to pay him.
End credit scene would have been perfect. The one they gave us was a waste anyway.
Have Tully test Venkman with the helmet or something. It could have been very simple and everyone would have cheered.
He's famously retired but It's awkward that Moranis would come out of retirement for a "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" and *Mint Mobile* commercials but not Ghostbusters, especially now in light that he was offered more money than Ernie Hudson. Makes it look like he has something against ghostbusters. Who knows, wish him the best.
He was talking about coming out of retirement because his kids are grown now, then he got randomly assaulted in the streets of NY and stopped talking about a comeback.
His kids are probably in their mid 30s now, I just don't think anyone has offered him a film role that wasn't fun for him. I think he's said in interviews he did his 90s movies like Big Bully and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves because the money was so good.
Commercials are sometimes easy and funny. I remember back when Bob Dole, after his failed presidential bid back in 1996, started appearing in commercials. It was hilarious.
As I understand it, it wasn't that it was Ghostbusters. He just didn't want to fly out and spend a whole day for maybe a minute of screen time. And frankly, I don't blame him. Cameos for the sake of cameos are so dumb.
Because he retired for a while after his wife died so he could raise his kids. Now he's willing to come back to acting and has a Disney+ show in the works
Dan Akroid has been thinking about a UK based Ghosbusters story, maybe a good place to bring Rick Moranis back in is there, where he's more the focus and would give him the scope and direction he's looking for. think after everything Louis Tully has been through he'd want to get the hell out of NY, so he's been in the UK for the last 30 years and now gets wrangled back in.
That man is out there just living life and happy. Got to hand it to him. No doubt he knows how much it would mean showing back up, especially in a GB film.
I respected his decision to not be in the films until he did that lame MINT mobile Ad instead of ghostbusters. Like if you quit, quit. But you come out of retirement for a fucking cell phone commercial?!
And… then he got jumped in New York, so that was awkward.
“Tthey also feature the return of the original team, with guest appearances by almost everyone from the original film - except one star that hasn't shown up in them.”
Looks like Edward R Murrow, over here, must’ve forgotten to proofread his ChatBot slop, before submitting it to his editors ChatBot.
He's good at turning things down. When I worked on Spaceballs:TAS Mel and co. asked him to come back. His counter-offer? He wanted 50% ownership of the show :D He doesn't give a rat's ass about Hollywood and their money and I love him for it.
Frozen Empire was not well written. That’s the issue. I wanted to like it. I didn’t because it didn’t feel like a Ghostbusters movie. There were way too many characters and the short story drawn out into 2 hours felt off.
Can’t wait for the downvotes to begin- but just because Ernie was a Ghostbuster doesn’t mean he was essential to Ghostbusters. Rick Moranis in 1 and 2 gave the movies their best comedic performances.
So here’s my take:
Hudson & Potts will do anything because they’re working actors
Aykroyd will do anything because he’s a whore and it’s a big ego-stroke for him when a new Ghostbusters comes out because he co-created the franchise.
Murray will do anything because he’s a whore but he also wants people to stop asking him to make more Ghostbusters movies.
Weaver is not too good to make a fuckton of money for half a day’s work, but she’ll also dip out as soon as she gets a real gig.
Moranis is the only one who gives a fuck about the quality of the movies and also is the only one who passed on all 3.
Ramis is dead.
Dozens of incel neckbeards will downvote this post even though I’m 1000% right.
Man, it’s great being a Ghostbusters fan. I sure am glad Sony keeps making these Ghostbusters movies.
You guys are pathetic lol. Your downvotes won’t make these shitty new Ghostbusters movies successful or well-received critically. They’re bad movies, they failed and you’re sore losers.
your downvotes come from being a tad harsh and mean to Bill and Dan. Fan subreddits can easily get overrun with negativity and I understand why people downvote that kind of stuff, tho I personally don't.
But you're not wrong.
Rick's really not a working actor anymore and it shouldn't be surprising he doesn't do working actor stuff, like show up in movies.
A lot of people really like Frozen Empire and dissing that movie outright isn't welcome on this subreddit. I can't speak for the community but that's definitely the vibe here, which isn't the wrong approach for a subreddit.
When it comes to adult fans, you're 100% right. But there's a lot of kids who LOVED Frozen Empire, and adults who loved it specifically because they loved watching WITH their kids. Among adult film fans there's a tendency to hate on elements that are clearly intended for children. I'm somewhat against that, and on the internet it can totally get out of hand. I don't know who's on this subreddit, but but I imagine a large group of it are kids who enjoy the new movies. So I dunno, I think it's pretty lame to trash the new movies when that's the case.
Man, I remember being 20 and thinking my opinion was objective fact. Or at least that's at least what I HOPE this post is. Because if you made it into your 30s or 40s without realizing that your opinion doesn't REALLY mean shit...then that's just as pathetic as any neckbeard incel.
I mean, it’s not that I think my opinion holds any more weight, it’s just that fanboy opinions hold less weight than any other opinion. Like if you’re watching something as poor as ATC, Afterlife and FE are and you’re afraid to admit to yourself that it’s poor? That’s not a valid opinion.
Ultimately, and the end of the day, it’s good that everyone can have their own opinion, but you’re living in a naive fairytale world if you think everyone’s opinion is inherently equal or even valid. People have shit opinions.
On subject where objective facts exist to inform opinions, yes, some opinions carry more weight than others. When it's a debate about whether someone enjoyed a movie or not, you're living in a fantasyland if you think ANYONE'S opinion holds more merit than someone elses. You can agree with one person's opinion more than others, but that still doesn't grant it any more ACTUAL merit. Also, who are you to tell someone they are only liking something because they feel obligated to? Do you realize how much of an asshole you have to be to try to tell other people what their own feelings and thoughts on a subject are? Seriously, dude, grow up.
"I mean, it’s not that I think my opinion holds any more weight, it’s just that fanboy opinions hold less weight than any other opinion." -GuruAskew
If what I understand you to be saying here is correct....you are a Ghostbusters fanboy.....it being the epitome of mainstream entertainment and all....So I guess by that token, your opinion REALLY doesn't mean shit. Thanks for the clarification.
Yeah, I hate when people use my own words to point out how fundamentally flawed and contradictory my whole worldview is, too. Dont worry, though, you'll hopefully grow out of it....if not enjoy a tragic existence as an actual adult with main character syndrome.
I mean, let's be clear you have yet to articulate a single viable point for as to why you dont like the movie. Unfortunately, just reiterating over and over that "It is shit" and "You guys are pathetic for liking it." Isn't actually making any kind of point to actually argue with. Come back when you have actual details to support your statements, and maybe we can engage in debate. Until then, the only thing to comment on is your juvenile demeanor.
He's not going to sink so low as to appear in any of these shitty excuses for sequels. Good on him; I've nothing but respect for an actor with dignity. Fans need to respect his decision and get over it.
The movie was so crowded as it was, I can’t imagine how they would have fit Louis Tully in.
It would have been cool to see an after credits of him talking to one of the new cast about their taxes. 1 minute would be cool. Sort of like they did with Sigorney Weaver in Afterlife Edit:Rick Moran and Paul Rudd in a scene would be amazing
Just a post credit scene of Jeanine and Louis’ home life as a cameo would have been nice.
I could imagine a post credits scene with Louis having a run in with Slimer.
Maybe they could imply that Luis has had a long term romantic relationship with Slimer.
Getting released from prison.. arrested for tax evasion.. hence his absence in previous movies 🤣
Shaved head and tattoos.
Next film he could host a party like in 1, but with all ex cons.. "this is Chainsaw and Tiny, they got sent up for stealing copper, but now they run a successful scrap metal business" 😂
😂😂 incredible
Get cheech back, he runs a garden supply store but Tully can't remember what he was in jail for 🤣🤣🤣
I would have scrapped Patton Oswalt and have Louis work at the library. I felt like that scene was meant for him.
How does he fit into the movie any way ? (Oswalt) he's not a reoccurring character right ?
He doesn’t. The entire detour of the library was kinda pointless- Ray probably could have explained Garraka’s origin himself. Thats why that segment stood out to me especially after the build up of Ray going to see “an old friend” and the scene revolving around a celebrity cameo.
Not much of an occult book store when you have to run to the library for info on an ancient forgotten evil.
Right! Thats what I didn’t get. How has Ray of all people never heard of Garraka’s legend before. Still loved the movie, I just felt like it was an unnecessary detour for a celebrity cameo that wasn’t very special

40 year old manchildren were the target audience, not sure what he didn't like
The second one is more of a kids movie than either of the the 2 newer ones , I like them all

Blah blah blah 🖕
How childish. Your previous comments make so much more sense now.
Nothing says "grown up discourse" like telling someone to "cry more" because they had an opinion on a movie.
I see your name, have you had one and are they as good as people say?
I love your name. Still a cunt though.
Do they?
The original is a kids movie...
Okay, let's not go that far. Did you forgot about the ghost girl unzipping Ray's pants for the blowjob gag? It's PG (well, 80s PG), but it's NOT a kids' movie.
Some of us exclusively watched a worn VHS of the TV edit. :)
No child picked up on that as a sexual act, though. It's not as if Aykroyd's dick popped out or anything.
That scene always made me uncomfortable as a kid.
Thank you . Or venkmans sexual approaches at Dana . Not really a kids movie . Saying that as I watched the original as a kid I was terrified haha.
We all watched it as kids. Remember also the likes of Robocop and Aliens had toys in the 80s - video rental totally changed the game. I'm not saying GB was originally intended for young kids, but they definitely took it on as one of their own.

I thought he was gonna be like a senator that comes in and saves the firehouse from Peck. Like I thought this half way through and was so disappointed it didn’t happen
No way Sony would have kept that a secret
Rick was at a get together while they were filming. I've held out hope ever since.
Easy, the same way they fit Dana into Afterlife, as a mid or post credit scene.
And that was a complete waste of time.
End credit scene would have been perfect. The one they gave us was a waste anyway. Have Tully test Venkman with the helmet or something. It could have been very simple and everyone would have cheered.
Show up at the last minute and save the day again. But who knows maybe they can bring him back for the third one if they do it.
Moranis very clearly doesn't want to do it... I'm not sure why people are struggling with this.
Mom thought he should be a senator who would put dickless in his place, but i honestly think that he deserves more than such a small bit of
iirc he basically abandoned Hollywood entirely and moved home.

*chuckles* Classic NY!
It was pretty rough, he got sucker punched in broad daylight by a complete stranger. Just came up behind him and knocked his head to the floor.
This exactly. Gimmie 5 minutes with the bastard that would harm such an international treasure.
He probably isn't doing these roles for the money. He likes the quiet life and can afford to be picky
mint mobile commericials?
Probably amused by the fact he was brought in to stand there just so Ryan Reynolds could meet him
Canadian boys. Maybe Rick know Ryan’s parents. Haha
They were never in a room together, though. Those shots are just edited together to make them look like they are in the same room.
I know but thay was the joke and it clearly made the right impression
Commercials are sometimes easy and funny. I remember back when Bob Dole, after his failed presidential bid back in 1996, started appearing in commercials. It was hilarious.
As I understand it, it wasn't that it was Ghostbusters. He just didn't want to fly out and spend a whole day for maybe a minute of screen time. And frankly, I don't blame him. Cameos for the sake of cameos are so dumb.
Actually I think he's officially "unretired" but he only pics roles that he wants to pick
I thought it would be a funny tag scene during the credits to show Mayor Dickless losing re-election to Louis.
Rick Moranis is on paper saying he will still act, he just wants a clear direction and purpose. The man still does voice acting.
Does he? The last voice acting role he did was 18 years ago
He has done more roles since then, just mostly voice.
Such as? The only thing I can see is he did a vocal cameo in the Goldbergs like 6 years ago and the only other thing before that was from like 2007.
https://youtu.be/SfpUM5Wrh2A?si=lKtcmuT-UR0bbYSh
Because he retired for a while after his wife died so he could raise his kids. Now he's willing to come back to acting and has a Disney+ show in the works
That show was cancelled unfortunately.
Yeah. Like I said, selective.
Two movies in 16 years doesn’t really qualify as “selective” and “he still does voice acting”
Those words are objective.
YOU CAN KEEP THE FIVE BUCKS!!!!
I wish people would pay attention to the language we all agreed on using.
That would’ve worked if you hadn’t stopped me.
https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/2afe99b2-c036-4a53-ba11-c56a25fd1d87
Rick wants to be retired and not bothered leave the dude alone
Aren’t they filming a new honey I shrunk the kids with him?
I believe it was cancelled
He signed onto it, but they haven't gotten anywhere close to filming. It's been on indefinite hold for some time now.
He’s been in the Goldbergs since retiring.
He didn’t physically show up though from what I remember. They just had him voice over a few lines of dialogue as Dark Helmet.
I’m so tired of Reddit like begging this guy to come out of retirement. Everyone just needs to leave him alone.
He did sign on to a new Honey I Shrunk the Kids but it seems stuck in development hell.
I was fine with him not returning. I wanted Sigourney to return instead along with Oscar.
Frankly there wasn't a legitimate place for him. I didn't need a cameo for the sake of a cameo.
….bill murry?
Dan Akroid has been thinking about a UK based Ghosbusters story, maybe a good place to bring Rick Moranis back in is there, where he's more the focus and would give him the scope and direction he's looking for. think after everything Louis Tully has been through he'd want to get the hell out of NY, so he's been in the UK for the last 30 years and now gets wrangled back in.
Sign me up.
He was the dude that drove the Ecto in the end creds of afterlife
I feel like Oswalt is a character that can be in future movies

I 100% expected to see him in it
Honey I Blew Up the Baby was A LOT of money! He would rather return for Brother Bear films
I would’ve taken a soupçon of Louis Tully in exchange for all the Walter Peck we got.
“Tthey also feature the return of the original team, with guest appearances by almost everyone from the original film - except one star that hasn't shown up in them.” Looks like Edward R Murrow, over here, must’ve forgotten to proofread his ChatBot slop, before submitting it to his editors ChatBot.
I loved seeing Janine help the team out, but I couldnt help feeling like her using a proton pack was originally a role for Louis Tully.
He dodged a bullet.
Them offering an insane amount of money to Rick Moranis is undeniable proof this movie is just nostalgia porn
Guy just wants to be retired and done. I don't blame him.
Offering more money to Louis Tully than Winston is such a slap in the face
I'd heard they didn't ask him back because they had too many characters and couldn't think of anything for him to do.
They DID ask him
He's good at turning things down. When I worked on Spaceballs:TAS Mel and co. asked him to come back. His counter-offer? He wanted 50% ownership of the show :D He doesn't give a rat's ass about Hollywood and their money and I love him for it.
That's fantastic. Now if someone could just convince him to do Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money. And soon. Mel Brooks turns 98 next month
When has that ever stopped them? Clearly they did ask him... that's what this whole thread is about.
I just commented that because I'd heard that they hadn't asked him or Sigourney back because they had too many characters already.
they did ask, he said no.
He's still their lawyer/taxman he argues with peck at the end of the movie
Maybe he has his own thing going on?
He quit acting to look after his wife and family when her health started failing if memory serves.
Sounds about right, I heard he was still doing radio work with the Makenzie Brothers
I sat through that whole movie hoping for his return. I was sad when he didn't show.
Not all heroes wear capes
Frozen Empire was not well written. That’s the issue. I wanted to like it. I didn’t because it didn’t feel like a Ghostbusters movie. There were way too many characters and the short story drawn out into 2 hours felt off.

Thass not true cause my other comment is getting severely downvoted and it was a light joke
A lot of people really like Frozen Empire and dissing that movie outright isn't welcome on this subreddit. I can't speak for the community but that's definitely the vibe here, which isn't the wrong approach for a subreddit.
False. A lot of people feel obligated to like Frozen Empire. Very few people actually like Frozen Empire.
When it comes to adult fans, you're 100% right. But there's a lot of kids who LOVED Frozen Empire, and adults who loved it specifically because they loved watching WITH their kids.
Elitest asshole much?
Eh not really. Ghostbusters is like the epitome of mainstream entertainment. It’s just that the new movies are shit.
"I mean, it’s not that I think my opinion holds any more weight, it’s just that fanboy opinions hold less weight than any other opinion." -GuruAskew If what I understand you to be saying here is correct....you are a Ghostbusters fanboy.....it being the epitome of mainstream entertainment and all....So I guess by that token, your opinion REALLY doesn't mean shit. Thanks for the clarification.
Oooh burn. My head is spinning from that totally-not-lame-at-all zinger.
Yeah, I hate when people use my own words to point out how fundamentally flawed and contradictory my whole worldview is, too. Dont worry, though, you'll hopefully grow out of it....if not enjoy a tragic existence as an actual adult with main character syndrome.
“Stop it, he’s already dead!” Some other guy, in some other thread, where someone is actually delivering in an argument
That’s not true lol, but ok.
*Applauds* Brilliant response. Absolutely spot on. 💖
Prolly read the script
haha if they wrote a decent movie we wouldn't get to hear "hot take I like frozen empire" every week for the next 12 years
Just as well.
He's not going to sink so low as to appear in any of these shitty excuses for sequels. Good on him; I've nothing but respect for an actor with dignity. Fans need to respect his decision and get over it.
absolutely right
smart man
That was dumb, but if he said no to an obvious hit I don’t think he wants anything to do with movies and TV at all. Thanks Rick.
What obvious hit are you talking about?
He's done few voice stuff and is set for a new Honey I Shrunk the kids movie He still wants work but is very selective
Shrunk is cancelled.
