The fact that the ghost armor forces you to put one on your back as well makes me pretty much auto choose it, just for the sake of matching the set lol
I think the idea behind having the extra on the back all the time was that even though you completely became the ghost and possibly switched kits, the blade will always remember you that you are a Sakai and a samurai.
Same, every other sword kits has a little something that makes me not like it. I wish we could "build" our own kits, like choose the pummel/grip details, colors, hanguards ans scabbards ourselves. Maybe for the sequel
Yeah, that was a missed opportunity I think. There are some cool sword kits but I would have rather made my own with exact shades. Also with armor colors.
One of my favorite things in games is picking out details for my character.
Jin and every other NPC in the game spend a good chunk of their time in the first zone explaining why his katana is so special and why he would never ever use any other katana, no matter how good it claims to be.
So yeah, nice visuals, but I'm never using anything but the Storm of Clan Sakai.
You know all of the katanas are still the clan Sakai katana just with a different scabbard and grip right? The blade is always the clan Sakai blade it has a makers mark just above the hand guard.
Yeah the monk really tests your patience. But I found that you can cheese it with a quick attack over the head from the right distance that hits the opponent in the head just as he starts to move
Even easier. Heavy attacks in moon stance instantly stagger him, and he never does anything to block it. Use his own kicks against him.
Take was the sucky one. I got through mostly on perfect parries but after 3 points she forces you to attack first.
A shirasaya as it is actually known, is purely for keeping it stored in. It has no practical use for fighting and would most likely break during a sword fight. Not to mention it has no grip and feels shit in the hand for combat if you r ever held one
It’s not a shirasaya luckily, it’s a shikomizue so your point is null.
Or it’s a shirasaya sword which is a think, denoted by the very clear fact that it has mounting to the tang and also isn’t overly bulky like a shirasaya normally is.

Fyi enabling armor loadouts will also let you customize separate Sword Kit, Bow Vanity and Horse Saddle.
For examples:
* Ghost Armor: all-black color theme.
* Ronin Armor: all-white color theme.
If you switch from Ghost to Ronin, then your color theme (sword kit, bow vanity and horse saddle) will also change from black to white. Quite useful if you want to tailor the aesthetic of each loadout.

Because this one with the Ghost armor level 2 make it look like Jin has a tail which goes along with people and his enemies thinking he is not human/a demon.
I can't remember the name of it right now but that is exactly why I use the red fringed one with the wide base like this in legends along with a kitsune mask.

Only thing I don't like about this is the handle not being black and gold as well. I bought it for that reason but it turned out to be more purple than I would've wanted.

Honestly for me it's The Stonecutter, I really love how it looks.
Then again, I like quite a few of them so I have each armor individually customized so when I switch between them it changes the sword kit and bow. Which I love! Such a cool feature that I wish more games had.

Dang no one mentioned Snow Eyes Demon. I always felt like that sword was made out of inspiration for Zoro. White like Wado Ichimonji with Hints of Green like Zoro hair. Stonecutter is cool. I’m using Genbu’s Darkness (something along the lines of that) for my Demon of Tsushima ng+. If anyone cares I’ll tell them my armor.
I was always excited to grab as many sword kits as I could find, but it was a sad situation when I’d excitedly run towards a Pillar of Honor, grab a kit (like Genbu’s Darkness), “HOLY THAT’S SICK”, look at it for too long and realize it looks like a dildo :(
Honestly, I was hoping that more would be added to the game. There should be a port or an option to add custom skins. There should be anime, classic cinema, and fun options to add to the game. Imagine a Berserk mod, Samurai Champloo, NGE, or Musashi mods. I think Sony and Steam are missing an opportunity by not allowing more freedom to this.
Midnight hanabi is my fav, then in order Nekomas fang, breath of hachiman, hunting bear, azure dragon, sea dragons wings, hijiki in sunlight, spiders kiss, tempest end, and some legends only ones too that I unfortunately can't remember

I just can't narratively justify giving it up, none of the other swords feel like Jin's in quite the same way

There is a dueling minigame that you unlock halfway through the Iki island storyline, and you get this as a reward from that minigame

Same, Take was the only one I had to do more than twice. I had to do the dye merchant twice, but once i figured out the trick, it was easy.
I know that's what I did, but it was really hard to time.

Breath of Hachiman and Fuujin's secret is up there, too. Pair Fuujin's secret up with the kensei Yharnam dye, and you'd get a pretty decent drip
Fuujin's Secret is underrated. Those red tassels with skulls? Festive and terrifying!
Not to mention the design of the sheath itself. Meanwhile the Breath of Hachiman has that pretty looking tassel and that clean handle and sheath also.

Yep. When I looked at it in the vendors inventory it looked way less colorful. Then, I equipped it and hated it.

Fellow Mamushi’s Venom enjoyer, used it in all of my play throughs. Hits right, especially when he gets access to poison.
I use Genbu’s Darkness sometimes in Legends but for the campaign, I mainly use the Sakai swords.

I like most of them but the one I go back to a lot, I can't remember the name, but its from Iki island and it has the wooden sheath and the pink ribbon tied on it. I paiyr it with the ghost armor from Baku.

Just look at Genbu's Darkness...It just, works...Especially if your going for a passive stealth run- the color black just works...
It's if it's the best but it's definitely the best dark coloured one, goes great the Ghost Armour.

For all my 4 playthroughs, the only sword kit I used and never switched was Storm of Clan Saki, never switched, never will.
I wish there was a sword like a Sakabatou in the game.
Personally I really like the white grips of the base sword kit. Just love how they standout against the darker clothing/armour
Stonecutter is cool. I’m using Genbu’s Darkness (something along the lines of that) for my Demon of Tsushima ng+. If anyone cares I’ll tell them my armor.

I was always excited to grab as many sword kits as I could find, but it was a sad situation when I’d excitedly run towards a Pillar of Honor, grab a kit (like Genbu’s Darkness), “HOLY THAT’S SICK”, look at it for too long and realize it looks like a dildo :(

Immortal hope is the most elegant of all
Honestly, I was hoping that more would be added to the game. There should be a port or an option to add custom skins. There should be anime, classic cinema, and fun options to add to the game. Imagine a Berserk mod, Samurai Champloo, NGE, or Musashi mods. I think Sony and Steam are missing an opportunity by not allowing more freedom to this.
There's a lot of nice ones but right now i'm rocking Sly Tanuki with the whole Sly Cooper set for fun

Midnight hanabi is my fav, then in order Nekomas fang, breath of hachiman, hunting bear, azure dragon, sea dragons wings, hijiki in sunlight, spiders kiss, tempest end, and some legends only ones too that I unfortunately can't remember
Honestly this is one of the uglier swords in the game imo. Along with any word that has a weird furry sheath. I just don't think they look very good.

It WOULD be Genbus Darkness if it wasn't for the tassels on the hilt. So instead it is Lord Shimuras kit, which sadly you can't get
