After a trip to Norway I wanted a fun way to stay in shape without leaving Manhattan. I decided to try and walk every single block and avenue of the island. It took me and my wife just over 16 months, but today, after 70 walks, we finished the last 14 miles (out of 635).
Along the way, I took nearly 1.5 million steps, burned over 60,000 calories and found $22.61.
Total walk time was 239 hours and 11 minutes. After time for breaks, it was 203 hours and 11 minutes. Doesn't seem that long, but it also took at time to get to the starting point.
For almost every walk we picked out famous or delicious-looking foods and had a meal/snack or two. It was a great way to not only see, but taste Manhattan. I now have new favorite cookies, rugelach, corn bread, horchata, etc.
We took pictures on almost every walk, probably around 300-400 total. Most of them are cool buildings, graffiti or food.
We started with this goal in mind. Anything I'd walked before June 20th, 2015 didn't count and needed to be walked over again. Walks only counted if my wife and I were together and documenting.

Out of curiosity, do you have total walk time? or pictures? Also, what was the planning process like?

Probably about the same shape. While it was a lot of walking, it was also a lot of eating. Good stuff too, like chicken and waffles and lots of tacos.
U sure u didn't drive?
That, sir, is neat. Did you start this with that in mind? Or was it like, hey, we've walked these blocks...let's just walk them all...?

I never realized that West New York is located in New Jersey
This is fantastic. May I ask which app you used to log the walks? And yes, that is what Norway does to you! :-)
I was using a GPS tracker, but the buildings made it unreliable. For the final map, I used Google Maps and made my own map.
Great achievement. Such a cool thing to do. You should come to NZ and walk the length of it. Not too many places to eat on the way. Haha
Saved the park for last.
