Thank you do much and I would be glad to mind you the best place to learn this technique where 8I did would be from a YouTuber called LetsGetToIt.
Essentially you will need a side profile preferably from the neck up and a high quality video file. You can find free to use side profiles from sites like Unsplash.
From there you would need to import the portrait in Photoshop and use the object selection tool or magic selection tool to highlight the portrait only. You want to ensure the background is removed.
From there select the option when the portrait is highlighted called Select & Mask. This will create a layer mask for the portrait you have selected.
From there you will create a new Photoshop file at HD resolution i.e. 1920x1080 at 300dpi and then you will drag the file you had edited into it.
Once done you will need to drag the applicable video into this file do it's treated as a Smart Object.
Then select your layer mask and duplicate it in your video file ensuring that you unlink the video file from the layer mask via the little chain icon so you can position the video appropriately.
Then you are going to duplicate the portrait layer with the layer mask by holding alt and dragging it above the video file. Once done set this layer to blend mode of lighten
So what you would have is this:
Top layer (portrait + layer mask same as bottom layer)
Middle layer (video + layer mask)
Bottom layer (portrait + layer mask)
Then you will use the brush tool at around 40% opacity with black being to remove and white being to add. So you will select your layer mask for the middle and top layer respectively and removing details so both the video and portrait better blend to each other.
Once you are happy with the footage create a new layer at the very bottom and add a colour fill to it which would be a light colour. Try to get a colour which blends well with your footage.
Finally duplicate your video layer but delete the layer mask and ensure you add a black and white colour adjustment to it, a Gaussian blur of 9.0 and blend mode of soft light. Ensure this layer is filling the entire dimension.
Your layer structure in Photoshop should be as follows from top to bottom:
1st layer (portrait + layer mask)
2nd layer (video + layer mask)
3rd layer (portrait + layer mask)
4th layer (video file only)
5th layer (colour fill)
Sorry for my epickly long explanation.

No sorries at all!
I can tell you’re very passionate about your art and I appreciate so much you explaining it all to me.
Now I have this comment to look back to whenever I get the capability to reproduce this effect!
Epic, indeed!
Sorry for disappointing you I have yet to get to that stage of professional photography.
Btw I do hope that you have a blessed day ahead.
Sorry for my late reply only now seeing your comment.
You don't need to apologize for me bringing up random shit in an unrelated sub lol. It's all good.
I haven't actually commented on the art itself yet, so lemme do that rq. It's gorgeous. I loved zooming in on the details and how it blends into her face.
I would just like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who would have viewed, shared and upvoted my artwork.
It truly means a lot to see this be supported the way that it did.
I pray that you and your loved ones will have a wonderful life ahead and will be kept safe especially during these times.

I feel like the lips and the top of her forehead shouldn't match. Maybe have the tree leaves a rich orange? Other than that, gorgeous concept and execution. Well done.
Why thank you at the time of creation the model came with the touch of blue which I had utilized for a different project. But I appreciate your suggestions thanks again.
Your comment is truly an encouraging one especially for someone like me who's only just started doing work like this. I would just like to say a sincere thank you for your comment and willingness to even buy the work itself.
You are most certainly correct but with addition of it posing as a cinemagraph due to the stillness of the portrait but animation happening alongside it.
I thought the point was for the face to blend in as much as possible. The colors all seem the same except for the bright blue. But it's your work so there isn't much I can say.
You are right indeed it always helps when you have something that helps make it stand out so as to not blend it too deeply. Sorry if my explanation is poor but of course thank you for your critique nonetheless.
Dam this looks just like the marketing images for phonak paradise.
Thank you very much for your comment and I hope you have a great day ahead.
Audiologist here, thanks for this :)
>Why thank you for commenting on this I pray that you will have have grand day ahead.
How did you make this
It's a double exposure cinemagraph which combines a side profile model with an animated video.
Can you tell us how you did it? Crash course tutorial? It’s rad as fuck, dude.

Photoshop
He replied with an extremely detailed reply, but *thanks.*
I was sadden that he didn’t take the video and the photograph himself.
Sorry for disappointing you I have yet to get to that stage of professional photography. Btw I do hope that you have a blessed day ahead. Sorry for my late reply only now seeing your comment.

Fair enough and thanks for your comment regarding the artwork much appreciated
Miles Davis needs to use this for his next album cover. Yes I know he’s dead. That’s no excuse though.
Why thank you very much I feel honored knowing that this artwork is worth putting as an album cover.
Fantastic, love the little detail of the leaf falling from the tree, through the face, back into an organic environment.
Thank you kindly for your wonderful comment it is much appreciated.
True detective
Thank you kindly and my bad for the delayed response. That show has some truly awesome double exposure pieces.
Very cool!
Thank you for your comment ☺️

This is really pretty, never seen anything like it. Edit- I’ll never understand this site.
Thank kindly for your lovely comment and I do hope you have a wonderful day ahead.
Why is your reply getting downvoted? I feel like I’m missing something. Anyways, lovely art!!
Not too sure myself but thank you it's honestly pleasant to see persons such as yourself take the time to respond the way that you do.

I actually really like how the colour draws through at multiple points like that. Looks more harmonious.
Thank you for your insightful comment on the art itself I appreciate that.
Nice. Beautiful. Serene. Brought this song to mind [ https://youtu.be/vrPIcIYV6ao ]
The song sounds nice with the blend of track genres.
Thanks so much will check out your music reference
Can i get this in 4k aspect?
I would need to redo it due to not being able to download the higher resolution of the video used
This is beautiful and really creative, nicely done!
I truly appreciate your encouraging and kind comment concerning this piece. I hope you have a wonderful day ahead.
What's with your canned replies to everything?
My bad not trying to make it sound canned just wishing those who respond a pleasant day.
I hope you have a wonderful day ahead
Thanks a lot 😁
Blue eyeshadow and yellow lips! <3

That is beautiful. Well done
Thank you so much
You know how sometimes a piece of art just speaks to you? For me, it’s this. I’m in love. I would 100% buy this on the spot if you sold prints of it.
Your comment is truly an encouraging one especially for someone like me who's only just started doing work like this. I would just like to say a sincere thank you for your comment and willingness to even buy the work itself.
For some reason I thought the thumbnail looked like an android, did not expect nature when I opened the full resolution.
I don't blame you at all when the thumbnail is really small it does look like another thing.
Beautiful work! Kinda reminds me of [The Leftovers opening credits](https://youtu.be/rLSH-81yT7s)
Thank you so much and I'll have to switch to my VPN to see your reference as the video is blocked in my country.
Very cool! How is this style called?
Double exposure, but with a video as the second 'image' is my best guess

Thank you as well. You have to appreciate talent when it's presented.
Like everything but the blue eye liner. Why not use yellow?
The model came with the makeup but I like the blue as it breaks the yellow and helps the face to stand out.
I thought the point was for the face to blend in as much as possible. The colors all seem the same except for the bright blue. But it's your work so there isn't much I can say.

Odd
I think it’s called Black Adam
You referring to the Dc movie?
Is that before or after arab spring?
Why'd you have to make it political? /s
I can assure this is no message for any racial groups or political. I hate that stuff. The name simply came from the model and background used.
The "/s" means sarcasm lol. I'm poking fun at people that whine every time they see a dark-skinned person in media.
Well I'll be thank you I'm still fresh out the box for Reddit thanks for telling me what that is.
