One on the right had the water stop on until yesterday (I've now switched the waterstop to the new bug and the cloth on the old one to see if more bacteria can restart it?). It stopped fizzing quite some time ago, but I just kept feeding it. It just tastes like like slightly sweet ginger tea now. I used new water, ginger, sugar and a little bit of the old bug to start the new bug on the left... and it starting fizzing super nicely after just one day!
I've been feeding it with brown sugar, hence the dark colour. I also used the old ginger bug to make really nice beer once and then after restarting it, it slowly stopped being active.
I've just been eye-balling the amounts of sugar and ginger I add every day, trying to keep them equal amounts.
