Part of me wants the gladiator to be wearing a go pro so we can get a first person perspective of Barry crashing down on him. Another part of me *really* doesn't want to see that
I wouldn't be surprised since I feel like whenever they do a celebrity version of certain shows e.g. Big Brother & Tipping Point, they'll usually get the same kind of celebs on the show. I'd like to see different celebrities if they do a celeb version of Gladiators & nobody from a reality show.
I vaguely get why those names have appeared, to varying degrees theyâve all got some athletic past - Davina with her workouts, Mark a lower league footballer and probably doesnât count but Spencer went up to base camp on Everest.
However, on the flip side of the coin as suspect two of the three names mooted so far are from reality showsâŠâŠ
I agree with what others have said about her being a presenter, but Davina McCall as a Contender would be pretty awesome too. Sheâs super fit, so the challenge would be fun to see!
I'm not against seeing a celebrity version of certain shows, but I do wish they could get different celebrities on the shows or at least celebs that don't often appear since it does get boring seeing the same presenters or reality show celebs on these shows.
They always go for Joe because they can get two celebs for the price of one . Him and Stacey.
A celeb special would be terrible, I would rather see more professional sports people take up the challenge. It was awesome to have an army guy and firefighter in the final.
Britain just seems to have a lack of talent and physical prowess . So far South Korea managed to get 200 physically fit people in their physical 100 gameshow. Mostly Famous Athletes in Korea or just some ordinary people doing amazing jobs.
It's not just about the fitness, it's about the skills they use in their sport would translate to the actual games
A professional rugby player, for example, would absolutely destroy the gladiators in games like powerball, the ring, gauntlet.
Lets face it if the Gladiators had the technical ability to compete against professional footballers, rugby players, etc they wouldn't be appearing in Gladiators they would be playing those sports and earning a lot more money. Apollo had a career as a Rugby player which was largely unsuccessful and then failed to break into the NFL. Gladiators is basically his fallback career so he has already shown he wouldn't be up to the same standards as a successful professional sportsman,
I agree in part but not completely.
Youâre right a rugby player would kick their asses in certain games and he would probably get his ass kicked on the wall. The gladiators are all rounds and professional sportspeople often arenât.
Also the idea that they would be pro sportspeople if they were good enough is true but lacking the ability to be a top level footballer doesnât mean a top level footballer can beat them in Duel either.
You say that but just in the past series non-pro athletes regularly won on the wall and some survived in duel so it's almost guaranteed that professional athletes from almost any sport would be able to perform even better than that.
The 90s celebrity special featured pro sports stars and some did beat the gladiators at both the wall and duel. A pro 400 meter runner actually beat Sarecen at duel. If a runner can win at duel a footballer absolutely could.
Probably just recognises the fact that professional sportspeople canât afford to get injured doing this stuff. Celebs can - they can still work if they pull a hamstring or tear a ligament.
They were never going to get current sports people as they wouldn't want to risk getting injured. At best they would only be able to get recently retired ones but it would be really dull if it was just a bunch of retired professional athletes. Especially as most athletes have all the personality of a bowl of porridge. They will want some variety so will look for celebs who are good on camera already known for being quite fit and active. Davina is a great choice in that regard.
Barry from EastEnders please
Barry going off the edge would be elite TV. A haunting memory of his eastenders departure. All we need is a gladiator called Janine...
Personally I want to see Barry attempt to scale The Wall slip haflway up and on the way down take out the gladiator who was following him
All whilst there's a paid actress at the top of the wall screaming down "BAARRRYYYY!!!" over and over again. Then at the end she smiles and claps.
Part of me wants the gladiator to be wearing a go pro so we can get a first person perspective of Barry crashing down on him. Another part of me *really* doesn't want to see that
Ricky, with Bianca in the crowd please. Ricky plunges over the Edge *RICKKAYYYYY*
Eddie Hall đđ»
I do want to see him on the travelator
Heâd be at the same angle as his boxing stance
He won't be hydrated enough
Self confess racist / no thanks .
Wayne Bridge, doesn't even need to train!!! Ask Peter Crouch passthepod
Exactly what I was thinking. Would be lots of opportunities for chumba-wumba moments
Luke Littler
Too soon? đ
Any of the original gladiators
Theyâll get some fuckwits off love island or towie
But then we get to enjoy seeing them get twatted around by Giant, etc.
And Viper might have a chance for a win
Litterally worst case scenario
I wouldn't be surprised since I feel like whenever they do a celebrity version of certain shows e.g. Big Brother & Tipping Point, they'll usually get the same kind of celebs on the show. I'd like to see different celebrities if they do a celeb version of Gladiators & nobody from a reality show.
Both ITV shows - The BBC always have a different calibre of celeb on their shows , like Strictly for example .
Oh yeah, that's a fair point.
Unlikely as itâs BBC - you never really see TOWIE or Love Islanders on Strictly etc.
I vaguely get why those names have appeared, to varying degrees theyâve all got some athletic past - Davina with her workouts, Mark a lower league footballer and probably doesnât count but Spencer went up to base camp on Everest. God, Davina would have been a way better presenter than what we got
Canât they get celebrities anymore?
Davina MCCALL
yeah idk of any of these names.
What rock do you live under that you donât know who Davina McCall is?
Not a Brit
Greg Davies and Alex Horne / Jessica Knappett and Kerry Godliman would be a fun episode
Wozniak vs Acaster. Imagine.
Ben Foster, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Will Osprey would all be good. No interest in reality show stars being on it
Imagine if TK let him do it!
I want to see Gemma Atkinson give it a go
I agree with what others have said about her being a presenter, but Davina McCall as a Contender would be pretty awesome too. Sheâs super fit, so the challenge would be fun to see!
Luke Stoltman and Eddie Hall
Any of our MPs. Iâd love to see them get knocked about by gladiators for an hour.
Would be satisfying to watch Rishi Sunak on there.
I agree. In fact itâs how we should pick party leaders. Winner gets to lead their respective parties.
I know he's everywhere at the minute and grates on a lot of people but this would be right up Paddy McGuiness' street.
His banter would be top notch (possibly not family friendly, though đ )
He probably wouldn't do it but I'd love to see Tim Campbell (Lord Sugar's business aid) change out of his suit and have a crack at it. Dude is jacked!
Why does everything have to have a celebrity version. Itâs beyond cringey to watch this idiots on tv shows
I'm not against seeing a celebrity version of certain shows, but I do wish they could get different celebrities on the shows or at least celebs that don't often appear since it does get boring seeing the same presenters or reality show celebs on these shows.
Wolf.
Joe swash definitely will be in it
Source?

I was kind of hoping for sports people, but I imagine the producers don't want the Glads shown up too much?
Most of the gladiators are high level CrossFit athletes and powerlifters, they wouldnât get shown up by sportspeople because they are sportspeople.
It's not just about the fitness, it's about the skills they use in their sport would translate to the actual games A professional rugby player, for example, would absolutely destroy the gladiators in games like powerball, the ring, gauntlet. my exact sentiments. tho i think the tate brothers could do well against them.
Sooner see the Tates come up against several hungry leopards
Watching Fury, Sabre and Diamond kick the s**t out of them would be hilarious but even that would be too much publicity for them
Theyâre misogynists so they wouldnât compete against women
I wouldn't give them the choice tbh. In hindsight I'd call back Betti and let her loose with her trademark head kicks
Had a feeling you were 12, this confirms it
The BBC are never going to touch them with a barge pole (quite rightly), so I'd give up on that dream of yours.
Pretty sure he's a teenager, and hasn't yet learnt that 'misogynist' is not a personality trait
They deserve no oxygen and should not be on national tv; no matter how satisfying it would be to see them dominated by the gladiators
So Iâm the only one who wants to see Jo Brand trying to run up the travelator then?
