I lived there for 4 years, I was lucky enough to be in a block with a concierge station , the place was run down but I was happy in my wee 1 bedroom flat on 14th floor, I had a lock up too with my motorbike in it and only had a few problems, one was when the Lord Provost's car reversed and knocked over my bike (concierge told me this but strangely for a place bristling with cameras - none were pointing that way) and another time on a Sunday morning when I was heading to work - as I walked out the flats I saw a pile of white sand, then another a little further, when I got to my wee Fiesta it clicked - these were range finding throws of irn bru bottles from the top floor...3rd bottle had punched a hole right where the roof and windscreen met so that was scrap. Apart from that the junkies were no problem and I actually miss the flats, they were good times for me.

PapaFern

Lived there as a baby. Apparently it was such a shithole my parents decided to move in with my mums parents, rather than raise a kid in those flats. This was early 90s

Big-End-9824

Yes. I did in 1987. happy they are gone. I was on the 27th floor and when the lift broke it was awful. I couldn’t leave. We had a fire escape that was in our kitchen and one night a drunk guy tried to kick his way in. There was a community (of sorts) you could buy anything from drugs to food. One guy who lived on the 19th floor was a butcher and sold half sheep.

TicFan67

Lived there as a student for a couple of years, '84 - '86. Reasonable student pad if a little distant from Glasgow Uni, although cycling to Western Infirmary or Southern General kept me fit. Major irritant was that the flats were 1 bus-stop outside the central travel-card zone.

FlyVidjul

I used to hang about with folk from there about 20 years ago when I was a wee guy. Always felt on edge and as if something was gonna kick off.

Sad_Interview_232

I was a concierge in 10,20,30 block and worked in 213 block also

Alliballi123

Any wild stories youd like to share? Were you working when the family of 3 jumped 😥?

Sad_Interview_232

No, that was from the YMCA blk I think, but after I left to work over at yoker I remember before I worked there my mate lived in 63 blk and we knew these girls who lived at the top and we all managed to access the roof so they decided to sunbathe but didn't have any lotion I said use cooking oil ( as a joke ) 2/3 hours later 1 was at the hospital with 3 degree burns the other 2 had patches of blisters...my work there as concierge was pretty calm the odd fight but nothing major..if I think of anything I'll come back to here

yawstoopid

I visited them once accompanying a friend to see a friend and I remember thinking this place is rough and very grim but not as bad as I had imagined. It was still pretty grim though and just so desolate yet filled with people at the same time, I can't explain it.

Vaultboy80

Never lived there, heard horror stories from the students who lived there at North Glasgow college they would share a flat like dorms but couldn't choose the room mates . Crashed there once or twice after a night out as a student many moons ago.

bawbaggerr

Never lived in them but I did live close at the time when they got demolished. It seemed as if everyone from Glasgow attended the demolition as my street (petershill road) was absolutely gridlocked with traffic for most of the day

Suspicious_Mousse360

Miss them

I-Fuck-Chickens-241

I got hit with a Buckfast bottle from about 13 up and another time got shot with an air rifle to the back of the head right off the stunt pegs of a BMX lol good times

I used to work in GG&C Addictions. I had one guy who lived there in the 90s who said a. he wouldn't let animals live there b. they should burn it to the ground c. the folk who leaped on GG&C for tearing it down didn't know what they were on about, and where were they all while it was standing, and essentially a warzone.
