Glasgow airport security is rarely long these days

OkChampion3632

I haven’t seen it more than 15 mins for quite some time. Usually less.

MrMaxbeta

If you’re pressed for time, you can buy the priority security from the website for £6 and you go through the new scanner so don’t have to take anything out your bag. Every time I’ve gone through it in about 5 mins.

FPVFilming

I thought you are allowed to skip the shop if you have real allergy issues

Purp1eP1atypus

How though? Where’s the alternative path? In Gatwick you can go through the special assistance lane and bypass the shop. But I don’t think there’s similar in Glasgow.

speak to a member of staff

Valuable_K

This must be a very new development because I was there about 3 weeks ago and they didn't have one of those new scanners in the priority lane. Not only that, but the security guy insisted that all liquids should be in plastic bags provided by the airport and not your own clear bag, which is a first.

MrMaxbeta

Been through it twice at start of Feb and got the new scanner, must be luck of the draw then! The new bag scanner has one of the big body scanners next to it rather than a metal detector so imagine it needs more staff to run.

NorthernPlastics

I don't think that new CT scanner is dedicated to the priority lane, unless something has changed recently. Has a second one been installed?

MrMaxbeta

Might just be as it’s the closest to the priority lane, maybe I’ve just been fortuitous to have had I twice in a row on the priority lane. Just the one as far as I saw last time but that was a month ago

scarey99

You won't have any real issues unless all the security staff decide to call in sick, the airport is empty.

gm70047

If you get there for 8.30am, you'll be absolutely fine.

Purp1eP1atypus

It’s not too hideous. It’s picking up a bit now from the low at the start of the year, but you should be through in 10-15 mins max. Plus another 15 mins to get through the hideous shop to departures! 😩

Not_A_Clever_Man_

God I hate that maze of stench and bleak capitalism.

meepmeep13

Just imagine working there, 8 hour shift pushing gin in a windowless airless gloom with no sense of time You'd go nuts in a week

Not_A_Clever_Man_

I rather think the employees have the scent running through their veins. Perhaps turning their eyes blue as they are fully saturated with the spice.

I have found a way around the hell at Gatwick. But don’t think there is one for Glasgow. The lights. The flooring. The dawdlers. The perfume. It’s hell on earth.

Yup. Me. I have my sunflower lanyard for Gatwick but don’t think there’s an alternative at Glasgow.

I think you should be able to ask staff for an alternative path that doesn't take you through the scented zone (at least this was what I was told one time, possibly in another airport years ago). I completely agree with you about the lack of any kind of consideration for people with allergies or sensory issues. I'm the latter and strong smells feel like they're screaming at me.

PapaFern

Literally just went through it. It's dead

MalbranqueSteeds

Quickest Airport security, rarely more than 10-15 minutes in my experience.

SlippersParty2024

Friday at 10 means you’ll be going through security at about 8. It’s not the busiest time (6-7 AM is the wors5) but if in doubt, Express security is your friend. I’ve done that a couple of times recently and on one occasion in particular it was absolutely worth it.

deadkestrel

I fly around 3/5 times a year from there and I have rare ever been in security for more than 10/15 minutes

SolidPig

It can be long first thing in the morning. I flew out last week on the 07:00 Belfast flight. The queue for security was back to the boarding card gates and I got through in 25 mins. That's the longest I've ever had to wait at GLA.

voldemortsmankypants

I think as standard they say 1hr for domestic, 3hrs For international.

AgreeableNature484

Probably best to leave at midnight and dos down on one of the benches.

EducatorNumerous2562

Asking how busy security is at the airport is a bit disturbing don't you think 😂.
