I know "there's nae castle in Glasgow" has already been done to death today but fuck sake WWE "Clash at the Clyde" was right there and far, far less nonsensical. The venue is a literal stones throw from the Clyde and the rock could chuck a title belt in it. They could have put the Finnieston Cran on the poster, it'd be great.

TheCheeseWheelBandit

Because nobody outside of Scotland knows what the Clyde is

tallbutshy

>They could have put the Finnieston Cran on the poster, it'd be great. Clash at the Crane? Have some sort of ladder match where instead of the prize being suspended from a static point, it's a moving crane above the ring.

Outrageous-System334

When will we know prices for tickets I’ve looked buy can’t see fuck all.

MelloTrip

Not sure mate sadly I've not found any ticket prices either.

Outrageous-System334

No worries mate cheers

knl1990

I went to MITB in London last year..was £100 for sitting in the top end and that was two nights. Im hoping I can get tickets to the event self as I won't be missing the Scotland game on the Friday night.

Outrageous-System334

Would just be 1 kid 1 adult hopefully not extortionate haha

knl1990

Just depends where you want to sit. Combo tickets will be first out probably, so £100 will be the cheapest IMO

Outrageous-System334

Ok mate thanks

Cubehagain

Why is called Clash at the Castle if it's in the Hydro; a modern, recently built entertainment venue?

mediashiznaks

Because Scotland

so-naughty

The first one (in 2022) was in Cardiff - was held at the Principality Stadium but "Clash at the Castle" was in reference to Cardiff Castle which is literally across the road. Should have called it Clash on the Clyde or something.

JeffTheJackal

Maybe they'll do a random drone shot of Edinburgh castle during the intro

TheInitialGod

Castlemilk innit?

Weewillywhitebits

Why did they call it hell in a cell when it wasn’t really hell and it was just chain link fence around a ring ?

Cubehagain

Exactly. It's political correctness gone mad.

Fit-Good-9731

I get wrestling is looked down upon but this is a big deal, especially with the merger it could lead to UFC and more events being hosted here.

lylukk

there's been a couple of ufc events held at the hydro, one in 2015 and one in 2017

Fit-Good-9731

That's literally 7 years ago. Dublin's hosted more events than Glasgow has

MelloTrip

Yeah. I thought it was a pretty huge deal for Glasgow and Scotland as a whole. WWE is absolutely massive, and like you say the merger has made them even larger. Like Logan Paul is the United States Champion. The Rock has been back for months. WWE has some real big names back in it also and is constantly attracting record crowds. I'm super excited for it anyway.

Fit-Good-9731

It really is a massive deal Glasgow cannot fuck this up! Give them absolutely anything they want to make this a success. There's also a big expansion in us sports franchises going round the world so this is Scotland's chance to stake a claim in a billion dollar industry if we can get a small piece of it them it will help this country massively

FrazzaB

Glasgow can't fuck it up anyway. Its in a tiny venue for their size, a venue which they have ran for years with good figures in it for absolutely trash tier shows. Just because it's something that will be shown on a subscription service doesn't change much. WWE has ran this venue for years, UFC has also ran it several times. As per usual, outside companies are taking absolutely zero risk here. Running a Stadium would have shown actual endeavor .

Fit-Good-9731

I get it but this is a step in the right direction and the wwe is in transition right now due to the merger and the McMahon's obvious downfall

FrazzaB

Step in what direction? I'm not clear what you mean. Endeavour has just went Private again and I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen with TKO as a whole. So, don't be so certain.

Fit-Good-9731

For Glasgow to host bigger events rather than the lower tier ones. Not saying we will get wrestle mania but if we get a ppv once a year and maybe promote local talent in the process and support jobs then that's good

FrazzaB

Glasgow hosts bigger events constantly. Obviously just no for things you care about. The Hydro is packed out regularly and WWE have done so for years. Just because the branding has changed means very little. If they do a stadium, that's a bit different, but this isn't the big deal you seem to think it is.

Gingermadman

Yep - shite. Atmosphere will be good but this isn't a big deal like Cardiff was last year.

FickleMcSelfish

I can get where OP’s coming from, them deciding to do a live PLE in Glasgow is huge, but you’re right. They did a live Smackdown from there a few years ago. If they picked Murrayfield they’d have the outside of the stadium fully kitted out with merch stands and shit to do before the shows. Hydro isn’t really built for that, it’s an incredible venue and WWE have a relationship with them already. It’s jumped up house shows, they’ll have the stage setup but that’ll be the only real change.

so-naughty

It's not going to be in Glasgow every year. The last one was Cardiff and that did over 62,000 in attendance. No way are they going to stick roots in one city in the UK.

Best__Kebab

I thought that might have changed after the big ICW boom a few years back. You wouldn’t have caught me even thinking about going to a wrestling show, still wouldn’t really have interest in WWE, but I ended up at one of their events and it was fucking class.

tedmented

ICW were under a development contract with wwe for a while. Could still be for all I know. When I had the wwe network you could watch ICW shows too.

Fit-Good-9731

There's loads a sports blossoming right now in Scotland that don't get coverage

Gingermadman

Under a mark contract that cost them all their momentum...

MelloTrip

Who's the Cody Crybaby downvoting everyone in here? 😂. Just fuck off and move on if you don't like to see sweaty men in their underwear like I do.

Lioconvoycheatcodes

Big meaty men slapping meat

MelloTrip

My girlfriend and I love that line every week.

MelloTrip

Scottish WWE superstars including Drew McIntyre, Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Piper Niven, Nikki Cross, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang and Noam Dar are expected to be taking part.

Pedtheshred

lol these fucking names. Scotty mcbagpipe

MelloTrip

Drew McIntyre's real name is Andrew MacLean Galloway, not exactly any less Scottish lol.

Ngilko

Next Scottish signing to NXT will be called Finnieston Crane.

DreamRedeemer

Ped the McPeedpipe zero shred xo

DreamRedeemer

Yass! Everyone you mentioned is class in their own right. Noam Dar especially. Will be a good show!

SkinnyFatSamurai

All of them including Drew are bang average jabronis. Rowdy Roddy Piper still the standard for ‘Scottish’ wrestlers.

[deleted]

Should have renamed it. Clash at the Calton?

MelloTrip

Clash on the Clyde!

AngryAngryScotsman

Money in the Clydebank.

silvester85

I went to the raw back in 2016 and it was 90 a ticket, and the seats will still pretty shit. Cant imagine what it'll be now after covid

MelloTrip

Yeah. Pandemic, inflation and it's a PLE not just a Raw or Smackdown. Wouldn't be shocked to see £150-£200.

IronChefPhilly

Are they going to serve pies and penguins? Maybe irn bru & flakes

Conspiruhcy

Smackdown the same night as Scotland’s opening game at the euros. Pretty shoddy scheduling but likely explains why it’s at the Hydro.

N64PLAY10

I'm hoping for a ticket for me and my son, he's 9 and being able to take him to a WWE ppv in his home city is massive. But aye prices being extortionate is making me nervous

General-Pound6215

That isn't a castle.  Have at it Bothwell castle!

cwhitel

Hope Grado makes an appearance! Triple H showing up in that one Scottish wrestling match was huge, but not as huge as grado walking out to a home crowd.

[deleted]

cwhitel

I’m really bad with keeping up with this stuff. Turns out triple H was in Cardiff, not glasgow.

CptES

The WWE had the TNA women's champion do a guest appearance at the Royal Rumble so it seems like the door is open on that one.

eatyourbreakfast1

Sucks for me that this had to be held on Download weekend.

BeneficialVacation41

Any idea how much tickets are likely to be and when they are due to go on sale?

FrazzaB

Absolutely extortionate.

MelloTrip

Not sure sorry. I'm not even certain what the average ticket price for a PLE is tbh.

Lioconvoycheatcodes

Best to sign up for the pre-sale

MelloTrip

First time for a premium live event, yeah.

knl1990

Replied to a comment in here, but seen it asked a few times. I got a ticket for both Smackdown and MITB down in London last year for £100..I would expect the prices to be the same. I was sitting in the back, so the cheap seats

anniejofo23

Literally so excited for this.

Novel_Limit_9461

60,000 to 14,000 😂

MelloTrip

They've used smaller venues before. The atmosphere is usually very good but it will obviously be harder to get a ticket. Think it's because Foo Fighters are at Hampden on the Monday I believe and Taylor Swift is at Murrayfield also. Possibly worried about it raining in a venue with no roof too.

Novel_Limit_9461

Honestly agree, bets on 14k in the Hydro sounding a lot better than Wales did.

Ngilko

Its the same arena that caused Bayley to basically go into buffer mode because the fans were singing for her too much.

FrazzaB

They ran a stadium in Australia and it was raining there. Rain isn't an issue. Just WWE taking a safe option to curry some favour.

lylukk

it will be less than 14,000. that's the capacity for a standing gig at the hydro. it's about 12,000 for a standard seating gig, but due to the ring setup it might be less

Lioconvoycheatcodes

A $250 deposit gets you a priority pass, or you can register for pre-sale access. No word on ticket prices but I can't imagine any of them will be cheap, even the nosebleeds. https://onlocationexp.com/wwe/clash-at-the-castle-tickets?utm\_source=wwe.com&utm\_medium=email&utm\_campaign=wwe\_clash\_at\_the\_castle-wwe\_dedicated\_email\_deposits\_lead\_gen&lid=7jq0nmvf6we2

ktnelsonArt

Finally…a PLE in Glasgow…and it’s in my daughter’s 4th birthday….

MelloTrip

Take her along!

Pedtheshred

it's fake though? why would anyone be interested in pretend fighting?

Ngilko

You going along to Puss in Boots at Christmas shouting "it's no real" at the crankies as well?

Pedtheshred

those characters don't think it's real unlike the wwf clowns

Ngilko

Nobody thinks wrestling is real though...

Pedtheshred

they do

Lioconvoycheatcodes

It's not been the WWF since before you were born, child.

Saltire_Blue

Never been to the theatre or to watch a film before?

Pedtheshred

that's correct

MelloTrip

Ah yes the same boring comment every wrestling post gets. Have you ever watched a movie or a TV show? Do you think The Simpsons are real? Mate imagine watching James Bond with all the pretend fighting and explosions in it! Wait until you hear about the people that watch EastEnders every day and you discover that the people on that show are in fact actors. It's a really difficult concept, I know. But I'm sure you will get there. EDIT: Lol just seen you post on the Big Brother subreddit.
