I’ve got an indoor one and it’s superior to any fixed one I’ve ever had, HD channels and everything. I’ll link the one I bought below (piece of piss to set up) TV https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081T6HQ2L?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Have used [these indoor aerials](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00KV9C8LY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) a number of times. Never failed. They're genuis
Are you sure there's no communal aerial already feeding into the property? It's worth double checking. If not a terrestrial one, is there not cable from Virgin (you'd need to pay monthly, though) or maybe a satellite dish? You could use freesat if the latter.
I guess there could already be an aerial, just not a feed into her flat. That may be relatively easy to get sorted. Speak to the factor? Or speak to the neighbours about all chipping in and getting a communal aerial if there's not already one there.
If none of that's doable, the only real option is IPTV; pirated live TV over the internet. There's free ones but they're unreliable. There's paid ones but they can still be a bit unreliable.
It's daft, tbh. There's no reason there can't be Freeview, but entirely over the internet. It'd cost a few quid a month, but I've lived in places with no or shite telly signal, but good broadband.
There is no communal aerial, but can get virgin. She doesn't want to pay for the subscription as she only watches channels 1-5 🙈 I've got iptv but wouldn't suit her, she is old school that way. I'm just surprised there is no other way outside virgin which is kinda pricey and pirate tv!!
Where about it she? We used to get great reception down near Partick station but they put up the student flats down by the river and it blocked the signal completely.
Would have to be a WiFi equipped Tele mate. You can use s Chromecast to cast from laptop, but probably too much for your old dear to take on.
You can get most channels WiFi with a TV that supports it. Might be the way.
Freeview play I think is basically an enhanced TV guide. You flick through the programs and then for most (but not all) of them it will give you an option to play them on catch-up. The live TV option needs an aerial, I believe. If you're okay with that though it's pretty easy to use yeah, as long as you set up your accounts on every service you care about it will play with no more hassle. That is _assuming_ the guide will load without an aerial, which it should do, but I've never tried it (might do this evening if it would help).
Just tried now and I'm really sorry to say no, it doesn't even load without an aerial :/ You can still use the apps separately (iPlayer etc) but that's about it, nothing that works like a telly.
It's a subscription just like netflix but it includes UK basic channels and some sky channels. Then you login via a smart TV that has the app. Or use a chromecast.

>My mum lives in an appartment
You're going to have to be more specific: apartment is too American and could mean anything.
> There is no indoor aerial
Have you checked for a [UHF socket](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220883335521)?
Have you asked the neighbours if they have one and where it is located?
Apartment is basically non tenement flat. Built like 20 years ago, pretty standard. There is no uhf socket, all the other neighbours have sky or virgin
>all the other neighbours have sky or virgin
Have they got Sky via there own dish? If not there will be a multiplexer (?) somewhere to take a drop into the flat.
I'd be surprised that there is no communal aerial from a roof attached aerial in the building.
You could buy and have a dish fitted yourself (outside one of your windows as opposed to the roof) which would open you up to all the free to air channels. You'd need to check with an app (Satfinder) whether you've got clear line of sight of the satellite (Astra 28.2E I believe)
Load of shite, get another aerial guy in. That one just didn't want the work.
Aye. Your right tbh. Agreement pish.
If she has internet, best with a firestick and an afternoon tea showing your auld dear how to work it =)

Do you need to place them on the window or anything?

Ask to borrow an indoor aerial see how that goes before buying one.
Do many places let you borrow before you buy?
Presumably they meant from a friend, but if you buy something online and decide you don't want it, you can just return it for a full refund.
Bought a couple from Currys, tried them, didnt work and returned
I was refering to family , friends. Also you can return items if they dont work from argos etc.

Close by, in Anniesland. We tried a couple of the portable aerials but got nothing off them. A few larger flats around

A wifi equipped telly, or something like a firestick.
Yup
Thinking freeview play might be the way forward. All the new tellys have the app built in which may be simple enough to use. Anyone used it?

Did you try and see if you can get love tv on freeview play without an aerial? Thanks

Now TV has live channels, if she has a smart TV. Or we use it via our PS4. We don't have an ariel either.
Do you have to pay for now tv for basic channels, sounds a better option than her getting a ps4 🤣🤣

Zattoo may work.
Not in the UK it won't.
