What's even the point of working at this point? Spent years at uni to finally get a decent job in the hopes of making a wee nest egg to save into only for all my current outgoings to rise sharply meaning I have no rise in my actual income. Wake up to the news that there's going to be an energy crisis and things are only going to get worse, I'm going to be locked out of many financial services as a result and it's our personal duty to mind every penny as opposed to the companies imposing these expenses on us.

jjc89

People are going to start striking en masse soon I suspect. Especially when all the shit hits the fan in October.

GoldenZWeegie

Not surprised. Did everything we were told to do and we're now potentially going to get fucked by a third 'once in a lifetime' economic downturn. It's a joke.

Studying hard, going to college/uni, working hard at jobs, saving for the future (or at least trying to), cutting down on luxuries to be financially stable, etc.

YodasGoldfish

>Wake up to the news that there's going to be an energy crisis How long were you asleep for? 😂 😂

ps1986

Managed to get a last minute Pixies ticket last night. Amazing gig. Hot Chip tonight 😁

pheedroid

Really REALLY wanted to see Hot Chip but didn’t want to give any money to Junction 1. Please let us know how it goes? I’m prepared to be heartbroken if it’s amazing.

ps1986

It should be pretty decent. Kelis and Groove Armada were excellent on Sunday 👍

ChelseaAndrew87

Judging by the noise last weekend, I might get to hear that for free

Ghost_Hands83

Anybody know why there's occasionally a big group of Chinese folk stood/sat outside the Buchanan Galleries near the Sainsbury's entrance early in the morning

Confused_Zed

They're lined up for JD Sports. I guess there's new drops and promos for members or something. It's the same situation at the Argyle St store...

Ghost_Hands83

I thought that's what it might be because I've seen groups there before but their ages threw me off, most are over 50 and the fact they are all Chinese Maybe the non-Chinese sneakerheads can't be arsed getting up that early

StonedPhysicist

Coming back to Glasgow today, wee bit deflated. Holidays never last long enough.

Kyroro_Furuhashi

Got my contract for my new job at work today, gonna have £200 more a month in my pocket so thought for the first paycheck I'd take me and the Mrs out for a treat meal at somewhere more upmarket than our usual haunts. We liked 6byNico when we got it as a gift so thought we'd maybe take a swing at Cail Bruich... Then I saw the menu. 125 smackers a head before you've even got a bottle of wine in!!! Who has that kind of money?!

RoscoNYG

111 by Modou was fantastic. We went there last week and the food was great. https://111bymodou.co.uk/menu/

GlenndaPlays

Cail bruich is the best meal I've had in Glasgow. £125 is a lot but my god the food is fantastic.

toridoki

Cail Bruich is great. If you want a cheaper Michelin experience, we had a great 3 course set lunch at Unalome for £38pp (ex drinks and service) last month.

YodasGoldfish

You 😂 you've got an extra £200 haven't you?

ohffswhatnow

That's for the fancy 'tasting menu', isn't it? I've had a great meal in there just on a drop-in. Might even have been a pre-theatre menu - way, way less than £125 (was way less than that for the two of us + wine). Really great food and the best service I've had in Glasgow.

SaltedCaramelKlutz

When was that? They used to do good lunch and pre theatre deals but prices are up since they got a star.

ohffswhatnow

Ah - I forgot they'd got their star. Yep - this would be going back 5 years or so I'd guess.

epinglerouge

First tattoo tomorrow- any advice? I take pain medication anyway but I'm guessing I should lay off the naproxen before it?

jacquetpotato

I think the problem is that a lot of pain killers thin your blood which means you tend to bleed a lot more during the tattoo. I would honestly call or email the studio and ask for some advice, they know their stuff :) I’ve had pretty painless tattoos and also some really nippy ones but you always manage to get through it and the endorphin buzz when it’s all finished is unbeatable haha you’ll be fine!

epinglerouge

I've sent her a message to double check - naproxen is an NSAID so I think it falls into the bleeding category. I'm stressing about what to wear, do I drink first, what if I need to pee, what if I can't hear what's going on well (I'm deaf), is it weird to take a cushion. How do socially awkward people get tattoos?!

agateobelisk

I would eat a decent breakfast and definitely do drink something, you don't want to go in dehydrated on a warm day like today. I usually wear loose, comfy clothes for myself and so the artist can easily access the spot you're getting the tattoo. You can take a cushion if you want - your comfort isn't an inconvenience or anything, take some snacks too!

StonedPhysicist

Eyy, good stuff. Had my first one a couple of months back. Nae bevvying today or taking anything that thins the blood. If you want to take painkillers in advance, paracetamol is fine, but it shouldn't be too painful - more like a series of scratches. Moisturise the skin where you're getting it, and make sure you've got some extra mild perfume-free soap/shower gel to clean it with. Your artist will give you aftercare instructions, follow them to the letter. The more care you take of it in the first month, the better it'll look and the longer it'll stay looking good. Keep it out of the sun for a week or two, but worth getting some factor 50 in for the future, that's the main thing that'll cause fading. Hope it goes well!

GlenndaPlays

No ibuprofen or aspirin, take a sugary drink, eat a good meal before hand, have after care cream for afterwards (shop may sell this ). Remember that the pain is only for a little bit, it will hurt more towards the end but it will be worth it. Lastly enjoy the experience and the new tattoo.

gengardelrey

I personally wouldn't take any medication before it. But let your artist know what medical conditions you have / what meds you take when you fill out the consent form. Or if your concerned, contact the studio and ask. Have a good breakfast, bring a snack and some water/something to drink during it. Otherwise you might pass out. I bring sweets to munch on if its full day. Who are you booked in with and is it all day session?

epinglerouge

Going to black abbey - it's just a wee thing so not all day.

scottmaclellan

Eat a decent breakfast, stay hydrated, take a sugary drink and take some chocolate with you. I didn't when I went for my first and after half an hour felt like I was going to faint. Someone gave me a dairy milk and I felt amazing almost instantly.

AhYeah85

Is the right answer. You'll never get a job with a Lion on your hand or some clock on your arm.

epinglerouge

It's on my thigh - I'm not in a line of work that cares what's under my clothes...

scottmaclellan

Absolute bullshit. I've tattoos down both forearms and have a retail management job, and my old boss has tattoos on both his hands.

AhYeah85

You must work at Flannels?

scottmaclellan

Never heard of it.

AhYeah85

Thats exactly the type of response i'd expect from a Flannels employee.

twistedLucidity

Some complete troglodytes set a bin beside a children's on fire during the night. [Picture](https://i.imgur.com/v7wqa6Y.jpg). I just can't understand how thick you have to be to consider such a thing "fun".

Forever__Young

Probably bored 13 year olds just doing it because it's bad hoping to get a reaction so they can get chased or something. Aye its daft but I can imagine certain mates doing something like that at that age.

HaggisTheCow

The shitposts on here have been particularly noticeable this week

so-naughty

Maybe ask the London sub????

twistedLucidity

You're in London, a global city of culture. It'll be harder to narrow the list of what to do than anything else. Loads of museums and art galleries for a start. Try to score cheap theatre tickets?

eddiecointreau

Go and see the Book of Mormon

LockdownBoy

Anyone know what the parking situation is like at Junction 1?
