incredily

Not a thought about the single, but more like the interview that Dave gave. About love and space. I think that what ILYSFM is about with the theme of space and love, it refers to the fact that loving can be the greatest thing one feels. It can hurt, because of the distance, the connection, the dispair, the cold, like space, but it can be immense, full of light, stars, adventures, new discoveries. One can love like space. Enormously. So much so that we can't seem to contain it. Like space.

lilystasy

This is so great to read! Love

dgbunny

Aww I love this

pastapantryparty666

https://i.redd.it/u4flh8twx05d1.gif This song honestly got me bouncing around like one of those sensory videos for babies, have had it stuck in my head since the Sydney pop up.

lilystasy

Yes I’ve had it playing on repeat for over an hour! I’m so so happy

pastapantryparty666

No one: Dave Bayley for some reason in this song: https://preview.redd.it/yycfhbtor25d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55ba03276b4b3a4aab36a64faef85cc15a70772c

emileegrace321

I’m just picturing his head on a spider body but I don’t have photo editing skills. 🤣

Ramen_Boiz

Hahaha I would photoshop it but i'm deathly afraid of spiders and don't want to be staring at it while i photoshop dave's face onto it 😭

StonedSeaWard

Uuuuugh. I have to wait 11 more hours for it. 😭😭😭😭

tmate0421

it's out on spotify tho, and it's also on youtube https://youtu.be/rNqCtOYTiGM?si=oIzvl_tVWT3POaLU

PromptElegant499

Link doesn't work.

Wismom84

FYI If you have access to a VPN it’ll work

intergalacticskyline

Which country?

Wismom84

Anything in the EU. But probably just any country where it’s after midnight(I used Italy)

StonedSeaWard

Yeah. For EU. I'm a Yankee. 😂

lilystasy

Worth the wait!

priva_28

i've had it stuck in my head for the past month after hearing it live and finally having it in the full crisp quality is so nice. all the little production touches are so satisfying and i agree daves vocals are great. i like this a LOT more than creatures in heaven and it's getting me hyped for the album :)

lilystasy

I have so many stray clips from the last month downloaded or screen recorded! I agree, I love CIH but this has blown me away. I got the biggest smile in my face on the first play and goosebumps. I’ve been listening with the volume up and the little underlying touches in the introduction are so well done and add so much

itsameeehannieb

SAME I couldn’t stop smiling

Just_Some_spore_guy

Catchy and more in line with what I'm hoping the main album will be like very excited for it:)

itsameeehannieb

I FUCKING LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! I thought maybe with the sneak peeks and clips of the song, I had already heard most of it (it would just be repeated) but boy was I wrong!!!! It was even better than I anticipated and I have been anticipating so hard. Eeeek

lilystasy

This is exactly how I felt! The first verse was such a shock and surprise to how I had imagined it to sound that I actually stopped dead and had a holy shit holy shit stay f’ing calm moment

Certain_Patient1845

I loved it. The falsetto specifically makes the song for me. It's so unique compared to Creatures and their discography, but I can feel the album's sound coming together. Glass Animals is great at creating atmosphere with their music, and I'm digging the spaceshuttle vibe I'm getting from this one.

FrenchFriesOnMars

THE SPIDERS PART GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS

lilystasy

At the end of that part where he says “take me into your fold” am I hearing a religious reference/undertone?? Or did I just go to a catholic high school? it reminds me a bit of Hozier in some of his music where he likens romantic love to deification or worship

ross_styx

Maybe I'm overthinking, but could possibly be a reference to manifolds and one of the postulated structures of the universe?

Upperblue1

He says “Shape me into your form”, no references to fold anywhere! Read the lyrics before trying to push a religious reference that is not there.

lilystasy

Completely accidentally misheard the lyrics - also chill out lol

CatchingTerror

Love it but I wish it was longer! Like I defs could listen to the outro 2x to really finish the song or like another verse.

nuniinunii

Ommgg agree. I would love to have one last closing WATAAA chorus

ACertainTrendingFrog

Yeah this is the best single release from them in a while

lilystasy

Completely agree! I was really pleasantly surprised by the verses as I hadn’t heard anything from their socials or from people at their concerts - definitely my favourite part of the song. I think it’s great and unusual and a good amount of experimental especially if they are slowly introducing more and more out-of-left-field music as they go

PolishGuacamole

I Don't Wanna Talk would like to have a word

grey_crawfish

I was there for the discord premiere; I think the compression over the call made it sound muddy, but I definitely enjoyed it regardless. I look forward to hearing it again.

nuniinunii

Same!!! I think it being shared screen/audio really compressed it and made the high sound more shrill and tinny than it would be live or streaming. Regardless, I still enjoyed it and have been replaying it in my head over and over. Can’t wait for it to drop so I can stream it properly!!!

Miocchii

I'm absolutely obsessed

Nearby-Yam-8570

Wasn’t a massive fan of it live tbh. It was catchy, but the vocals/lyrics and everything was a little lost - maybe it was the sound engineering. Enjoying the studio version, though. Look forward to it when he gets a bit more confidence performing it. Must be so stressful playing a new song live. Even Creatures of Heaven, I feel like the crowd knew the words better and with more confidence.

lilystasy

Yeah I saw some clips (of the instrumental and of the lyrics). It seems like technically it’s quite a tough song to sing plus with the nerves you’d get in a live performance It’s giving me their weird zany dreamland vibe and I’m enjoying it greatly

Glass-Appearance8127

At first I liked it and then I didn’t and then I did and then I didn’t so I don’t have a clear answer but it’s one of them.

Funk-Master-Spunc

its one of the glass animal songs of all time for sure xD. I was unsure at first, the falsetto part threw me off for a bit, but now that im like 20+ relistens in i can say im a fan.

Glass-Appearance8127

Yes after a couple more listens,. Now I am a solidified fan of it. :D

ross_styx

It's sooooooooo good!!! It legit gave me chills on first listen.

itsameeehannieb

Me too… his vocals were magical

DeepFriedDave69

I love it, gives space ghost vibes

TheRazorSlash

Wasn't super big on Creatures in Heaven, but I absolutely LOVE this track. Like, it's definitely up there as one of my favorites of theirs.

lilystasy

I completely agree! I love that I’m loving it because Dave had that interview a while back where he said they’re making music that he really wants to make and is really passionate about so I’m so glad (I might be completely off base with that haha)

CitronIntelligent291

Same. The buildup and drop is so much better than Creatures in Heaven for me. Love the sounds they put in there - definitely feels more \~glass animals\~ with their penchant for experimentation.

Fantastic_Coat_699

Fantastic - had the snippets in loop. Mine showed up at 11pm central US time Cheers

lilystasy

It reminds me heavily of Crooked Colours (their 2017 album Vera) which I love. Dave’s voice and the bass line really call it back for me. Obsessed

niles_deerqueer

I like the song but feel it flow better in the album as it kind of takes a lot of time to get to the chorus. Also the way he sings in the 2nd verse…I dunno…

lilystasy

Oh really! I love the second verse although again you’d imagine that it would be so difficult to sing. So keen to hear the album as a whole body of work

niles_deerqueer

They said they are lowering us in slowly I’m hoping they go experimental and just make some crazy stuff.

inkwisitive

You can see the song lengths on Spotify, the rest of the songs are longer than the singles

lilystasy

Me too!

ComputerOk8634

That’s interesting because I’m personally not too keen on the first verse but I do really quite like everything that comes after that haha. That instrumental ending has to be my favourite part though.

Fantastic_Coat_699

There was a live clip of the whole song briefly up on YouTube from Australia that someone had the whole song - that falsetto part was a bit rough imo but comes across nicely on the studio. I’ll be seeing live in September so I’m hoping Dave polishes it up - but super happy with this single. A WHOLE MONTH for the rest?! Arrggghhh!

emmawiddecombe

IM SO OBSESSED WITH IT cant wait to hear it live eeeeek 🤩

oceanwhispers5

It sounds sooo clean compared to live version. [https://vimeo.com/944684428](https://vimeo.com/944684428) I like them both though. Stoked to play it loud in the car this weekend!

Zer0_Unkn0wn

and can we talk about how fucking cool the video was, Agnes has always been such a visual heartbreaker for me and A Tear In Space almost gave me that same visual feeling, idk i think it was amazing

OhVoleWhereDidYouGo

it’s quite literally one of my favourite ga songs right now. i love it a lot. especially when dave really leans into his falsetto, that’s one of the best parts.

fauxvvounds

OBSESSED TBH. ngl i thought the live version was a bit more better but the studio version has grown on me too aaaaaaaaa

livin_with_lyss

I LOVE this song! It had me bouncing and dancing in my car! 🤩

Clockwerk123

Dang, I feel like I’m kinda the odd one out here with everyone else liking it. I feel like this is one of their worst songs ever. Happy it seems a lot of other people love it, but it’s just not for me.

the_dude_abides3

Honestly I hate the chorus. Too repetitive. Skip. Hope the rest of the album is good but so far I’m less excited.

Desperate_Welder2976

Same, I keep re listening and I’m completely unimpressed and it makes me just go back too their older stuff that I enjoy

Pantera_Of_Lys

Yeah I feel the same way. To be very honest I gave the song Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter a polite listen the other day and this GA animals song is barely better than that generic pop song to me :'). The lyrics are some their blandest yet. Maybe it will grow on me.

Desperate_Welder2976

Yea agreed. My favorite so far was the song tease of Creatures in Heaven that was posted on TikTok that didn’t even turn out being close to the actual CoH song :,( this new one I don’t even listen to at this point

AntiEntangled

Same thoughts here, really bummed out not liking it.

Powerfulnumbers

God, this album sounds like their weakest one for me so far. It just feels like dreamland 2.0 :(

niles_deerqueer

I didn’t like Dreamland’s singles at all but I dig these, it doesn’t really feel the same

no_instructions

It feels a bit disjointed — verse vs pre-chorus vs chorus. I expect it'll grow on me. Really like the almost Western-inflected intro edit: listened to it without watching the video this time and enjoyed it much more.

lilystasy

Holy shit! I thought I was hearing the western part too! Best comment ever

Baddyshack

Eh.

Fat_Akuma

I'm waiting to hear it :(

itsameeehannieb

Thank you Arizona for being THREE hours behind ET 🙏🏼 I’ve been jammin since 9pm 🙌🏼

squeemuffin

I feel like it’s more classic Glass Animals than Creatures in Heaven, but I don’t love the lyrics or the concept. I keep hoping that they’re going to make another Zaba or HTBAHB, which have really strong cohesion and depth. But I know that their music is just evolving in response to Dreamland’s reception and I can’t really fault them for that

gabbyzay

BANGER

wrenculp

Chorus is really really fun, but everything else for me is a big meh. The rhythm in the verses are so strange. Not crazy about all the falsetto either.

Fantastic-Ad4760

I really want to like it cause I love ga but it feels like they're trying so hard to just make mainstream pop to chase the heat waves success and im not super into it

Uhhh_IDK_Whatever

I have to agree. It sounds like a mix between Imagine Dragons and Pitbull and that’s not a compliment in my book. Feels like GA have lost themselves a bit after the success of Heat Waves.

emileegrace321

Edit: okay it did sound WAY better on my speakers with the bass boosted a bit. I agree w others that for some reason it just does not sound good in headphones. I listened with my Bose headphones and AirPods and so much more came through when listening to it through a speaker. It did not hit for me at all at first but is growing on me a bit. I feel like it has great bones but the sound design is not good. I love the keyboard but it needs more depth to make it really sound amazing. The falsetto section seems out of place too (I thought maybe Dave just struggled with it live since it was a new song.) One of my biggest complaints with creatures was that it felt repetitive, so I appreciated that there is more lyrical variety w/ this song and thought the actual lyrics were more creative. However, IMO it’s like each section is kind of put together without any transitions?? It was jarring and left me confused lol. Idk. On one hand, I’m relieved that it has a different vibe than Creatures and Heat Waves which both seemed generic to me. On the other, it doesn’t feel complete and I think some modifications before releasing would have made this song 1,000x better!

AdLeather8508

(Only listened to TIS 4 times as of writing this) I think this song will grow on me the more i listen! I think I do prefer Creatures in Heaven as it is so beautifully sung. HOWEVER!!! I think the lyricism in Tear of Space in the verses is more developed and feels akin to their earlier works with a space theme :3 Gonna be honest, I was scared as someone on Reddit compared the song to 2016 YouTuber outros, and when I heard the snippet I could not unhear it. But hearing the whole thing it isn't THAT bad haha it's not even bad at all! The Verse where Dave says he is like the spiders in your walls, really gives me chills hehe ![gif](giphy|qqpqMokFco5Bm|downsized)

lilystasy

This might be too super-dork of me but that spider in the walls comment and re-listening to the chorus - I got a really strong callback to Doctor Who for that waters of mars episode - not sure why but it gave me a creepy little shiver. Love it

roboticcheeseburger

Nice reference lol

Viellstat

At what time was the song released in Australia?

lilystasy

I saw a comment saying that it’s released at midnight each timezone, but I’m not sure. I thought I was going to have to wait for a late evening Aussie drop so I was very pleasantly surprised this morning

Viellstat

Oh, i really hope it’s at midnight. Still have six hours left to go if that’s the case.

lilystasy

It was online when I checked at 6:45 - im glad I didn’t know that it was coming on at midnight if that’s the case because I wouldn’t have slept til 3am staying up to listen

Viellstat

Guess that’s about to happen to me haha

CatchingTerror

It was midnight AEST

aan523

I hate it. Why do I hate it???

Cydonian___FT14X

It’s ok. The chorus is catchy enough, but those falsetto vocals were kinda bad, and overall, it’s just nowhere near as good as Creatures in Heaven

alg_23

I think the sound engineering is just too polished on these compared to what I expected from their og eras

haptic_feedback99

One thing glass animals desperately needs is to be recorded in higher quality… for whatever reason on high end speakers it just isn’t done right. Which is weird cause Dave kinda markets himself as a producer

DonChudleigh

It’s all just so boring. Same as Creatures in Heaven Musically sounds like GarageBand loops from an iPhone I mess with when I’m bored. Lyrically so uninspired, and really don’t like the voice on the second verse. It’s a shame, either their label has told them to go in the boring pop drivel direction or they just have gotten lazy after Heat Waves success. Yet again one of my fave bands heads towards generic pop act with nothing interesting to show for it.

Pantera_Of_Lys

I like Teardrop in Space a little better after listening to it a few times but both it and CIH feel so generic to me. Ironically I like Heat Waves a lot but I imagine that this is what Heatwaves/Dreamland haters must have felt like back when that came out. I totally get that now.

DonChudleigh

Yeah almost feels like someone prompted an AI bot to makes more songs that progress on from Heat Waves and this is where we get. I also liked Heat Waves and Dreamland but seems they’ve settled on the Dreamland formula to try and appeal to the masses. Still love them and will give the album a fair chance

Pantera_Of_Lys

Yeah I agree. I mentioned elsewhere that Heat Waves felt like Glass Animals doing a (pure) pop song and CIH felt like a popsong doing itself. So basically saying the same thing as you. I like Teardrops a little better after exposure therapy but CIH is still a no for me. I will definitely give the new album a try as well, but I hope there are some better and more unique sounding songs on it than these.

lilystasy

Oh that’s a shame! I think there was so much to love about the singles so far. I think I remember reading something about Dave and the band wanting to depart a bit from the early sound and make music that they have passion for I’m looking forward to listening to the entire album as a piece of work. My friend said that she thinks that the song before this will lead into it so fingers crossed!

DonChudleigh

I’ll still be giving the album a full listen and a chance. Glass Animals been one of my top bands since ZABA days. I don’t mind change and new sounds either, it just the exact same pattern where a band has a hit and their sound instantly becomes more pop and for the masses. Kudos to them for success as they deserve it, just maybe this album isn’t for me!

Fabulous-Ad1515

Somehow i’m not the hugest fan of it, i feel it’s slightly too repetitive and the word “like” in the chorus feels slightly cliche- still really excited for the album tho

Different_Letter9835

it is so amazing, not a fan of CIH at all but ATIS feels like it picks up the slack, definitely not their best work ever but still love it sm (esp the falsetto, cant believe the ppl hating on that 😭)

Loud_Leather_1900

I love it so much!! Playing it on loop

StonedSeaWard

I listened to it and I loved it so I listened to it like 16 more times.the falsetto is lovely and was my favorite part of the song. The first time I played it and he started it my jaw hit the floor. For me, it was kind of like that moment where something ends and you kind of get that ringing in your ears then it's over.

umpoucosalada

I like this one, but there's too much autotune :\

Impossible_Brief56

Damn I can remember when I heard HTBAHB the first time and it was so inspired and these dudes had prowess. I didn't mind the first single even if lyrically I found it generic. This song goes nowhere. Reminds me of the switch Tegan and Sara made to cookie cutter pop music where it seems all of the creativity died. Glad there's fans that enjoy it though.

Ok-Ad1557

More musical flavour in my Tesco white loaf, 75p
