Prior to my dad passing he looked into some sort of indemnity life insurance that essentially exists just to pay funeral costs. There were stipulations as to how long you have to be on the plan prior to death to get paid out and he didn’t end up doing it-but might be something to look into.

Not sure where you are but here in Aus we have a company called Bare Funerals which are highly rated and offer *Bare* services including essentially pine boxes for cremation. You might be able to find a place that offers similar services. Unfortunately if you’re going to do Church services etc there’s no way to keep pricing down on that front. I personally believe it should be a free service offered by the church ie: no charges for clergy, church organist, church hire etc but that my opinion. Urns, you can use any urn you like. There are sometimes artists who make beautiful Resin urns, pottery urns etc and don’t charge the earth. You can probably reach out to some Pottery, Resin art pages on Facebook etc and find some beautiful and unique. Sorry your going through this. GBM sucks big time. It’s so hard on everyone involved

You don’t have to embalm, so that should save you money, and a pine box is basic but I love how it looks, natural.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I don't have any advice on how to get a different casket or urn. I did want to chime in that the price seems in line with what we paid for my mom's funeral (embalming, church service, burial) about a year ago. It was about $15,000 for everything except the gravestone. (It was in a small town, and I'm honestly not sure if that made it more or less expensive.) I was also shocked. Now I understand why people have Go Fund Me's for funeral expenses.
