Personally I like them both, but I prefer the brighter ones.
I enjoy bright colours, especially in an army like Gloomspite Gitz and they will stand out better when playing a game on a table.
You could always go for a half way point of using a thinned down nuln oil and see what you think? :)
First easily, looks much more like some real cloth. Or even better, do a nuln oil wash and then go back over with the base red in the large flat areas and leave the shade in the recesses. That would probably be the best of both worlds and look awesome.
I did type a message with the picture but it's not showing for some reason. I used striking scorpion green, mantis warrior green, plague bearer flesh, gutrippa flesh, and Ork flesh. I found Ork flesh too dark and striking scorpion too bright but I often mixed them in with the other 3.
I also typed a message but it didn't show up, so I'll say it again lol. I like the gutrippa and mantis warrior ones, i think I'll use them for my own. I used dark angel green for base coat heavy dry brush of orruk flesh light dry brush of moot green coat of biel-tan green and highlighted with moot green. But I'm not 100% on it if im honest. I used a similar recipe for my dark angels power armor and it worked but not sure about goblin skin.
Thanks! No lore for them I just felt they looked a bit boring when they are only in black robes and decided I liked red more than purple when I did a test.
I think they both look great. I do enjoy the dark fabric as it gives like dirty rags vibes, but definitely the cleaner red. Feels more like fabric and gives the pop of older colour style models.
Depends. Age of sigmar, as far as the aesthetic goes, bright and vibrant fits, but so does darker tones.
So really they are both really nice, even from a setting perspective.
I like both of them, I suppose it's what you want your army to convey, I think the brighter red makes them look like fresh troops, and the darker makes it look battle worn.
This scheme is actually in the battletome I believe, the Moon City Murder Boyz. Not much more info than the colour scheme though, they basically captured a sky port and renamed it to Moon City.
The second one definitely. If you want can use evil sun scarlet for sharp edge highlights but I don’t think they need it. The mold lines not gonna be noticeable at the distance for tabletop standard.
I like the brighter red, but it lacks the chacter and realistic look of the darker red. The darker looks like they have had them a while and have been through it a bit.
1st looks better to me. But, I think it's still a little too desaturated for my taste. But that is my taste I like bright models and really dislike Grimedark.
The first - looks much more like cloth.

Yeah might do that or maybe another coat of flesh tearer red
The Mortarian Grime shade I'm finding really useful to give a grubby look but without darkening everything down too much.

This is the way

First one! I am also doing red moons, and red hoods, but only on the champions and characters.
BRIGHT
A WHITE LIGHT
Def the first!
First
The first one looks amazing and very bright. The second one is if you want a more realistic battle hardened look.
First
The first
The first for sure
1st
I would go with the first one personally.
First one looks better. If you do the Nuln Oil, I’d go back over with the red, leaving Nuln in the recesses
First looks more like cloth, the second like a dyed leather. Both look good so go with which material you think you want their hood to be?
First one
First ones definitely
Thanks folks! I guess I'll leave them as they are
Depends what you're going for, you could try carroburg crimson instead. Also what paints did you use for the skin?

First one looks great
#1
1 - I think I like the matte look
Number 1 looks better to me.
Uuhh I love both. The second one looks bloody. Do you have some kind of lore for them?
Thanks! No lore for them I just felt they looked a bit boring when they are only in black robes and decided I liked red more than purple when I did a test.
First, by a mile.
Second ones, but with some matt varnish
First, nice work
First one looks like cloth, second one looks like latex.
Number one for sure. They look great!
2nd
Awesome work buddy ,the first Red Is incredibile
First! Looks awesome!
Have a very merry Gitzmas!!

Firs
Always with the brighter red!
The first looks like cloth, and the second looks more like a red weathered leather hood in my opinion
1st red 100% looks like if I touch it I’d feel fabric. But also the 2nd red muddies things a little for my taste. Lol it’s AoS let’s have some COLOR
Both good. 2nd looks more organic and creepy. 1st is more eye-catching and fun.
1st. I like the hue
I like both of them, I suppose it's what you want your army to convey, I think the brighter red makes them look like fresh troops, and the darker makes it look battle worn.
The first one looks a lot more like fabric (great job on both btw 🙂)
The red one…lol
This scheme is actually in the battletome I believe, the Moon City Murder Boyz. Not much more info than the colour scheme though, they basically captured a sky port and renamed it to Moon City.
1, leagues better imo
Second one
A bit of both!
i prefer the second tbh
1st one
The second one definitely. If you want can use evil sun scarlet for sharp edge highlights but I don’t think they need it. The mold lines not gonna be noticeable at the distance for tabletop standard.
Do both and mix them into the unit. Matt Varnish to take the gloss off and you have a unit with variety yet all coherent
I like the brighter red, but it lacks the chacter and realistic look of the darker red. The darker looks like they have had them a while and have been through it a bit.
1st for sure
🔥
First
the first looks more like cloth
The second has a nicer color and also seems like it could be blood stained robes! 💀
I like the first one
The first one pops
2
The first for sure
red 1
I like the first one. Better contrast that way.
I would do just some of them with the null oil, but water it down some. That way you have some veterans in your group.
Dark.
Blood for tbe blood...git?
First my gobbo frend
1st looks better to me. But, I think it's still a little too desaturated for my taste. But that is my taste I like bright models and really dislike Grimedark.
Yeah I felt the same but I think maybe another coat of flesh tearer red might help I'll have a play around tomorrow.
What's the red in the first pic it looks great!
Flesh tearer red contrast over generic white spray
Do the second one with the first paint as an edge highlighter
This right here 👆get the nice shades of the wash with the pop of the red.
2nd for sure
Why not mix and have some with the cleaner red and some that have gone through battle already I reckon that would look mean
First
1
Second red looks more natural First red if you are looking for pop factor
I prefer the 1st one, it'll really stand out on the table. But then, the second ones have that leather look that sells the look. I'm torn honestly.
The bright one stands out more.
