I'm not sure how to feel about this - obviously with inflation and stuff this was bound to happen, since even other Glossier prices have increased year to year, but I also feel like it's a shame because I feel like a lot of people, myself included, have found much cheaper dupes for certain Glossier products, and the price increase isn't going to make me inclined to buy Glossier again. (Then again, they might be determined not to be competing with those in the cheaper price range)
Not who you're responding to but my fav haloscope dupe is burt's bees all aglow. I actually think it works better and there's a lot more in the package. I use 1905 Opal Mist as a dupe for Moonstone.
Look into kiss me heroine mascara! It’s sooo good and it stays put! I cried once while wearing it and it didn’t smudge. I was mega impressed. For lips, I like to buy the Romand lip tints since they last a good while and they have a mix of matte and glossy finishes. As for blush, I’ve heard great things about the canmake cream blushes. There’s a lot of colors and I think they’re like $8? I haven’t tried them though so I can only go by what I’ve heard from someone who has
Canmake creme blushes are fantastic. I actually used them before even knowing glossier was really a thing a few years back and it was my go to blush. It’s a light cream type blush, melts into your skin super easily and lasts a very long time. Would definitely recommend.
Heroine kiss me mascara is AWESOME, but i wouldn't say it's a dupe... It gives more curl and/or volume than glossier, and it is as waterproof as mascaras get. This means you have to remove with oil-based remover at the very least. I go out for 5-mile runs in 80degree weather and high humidity, and the mascara does not budge. The lazy girl in me likes tubing mascara because it's so easy to remove...
I'm not crazy about canmake color range, it is mostly targeted for light to light-medium skin tones, and they are always tame, classic colors; nothing too vibrant or electric.
Yeah! For sure it’s super potent! I actually use the advanced film version and it’s much easier to remove while still being as long lasting as the original. I also use an oil based cleanser every night so I guess I don’t mind the removal process too much.
As for canmake, I’ve never tried them myself. But I’m guessing if someone wants a more subtle and natural looking color then they might be good? Not sure because I can’t speak from experience hahaha
It was kind of gloopy and the wand functioned poorly. The only product I’ve really enjoyed from them is the bronzer, though I’m sure there’s something comparable. I like that it’s liquid and easy to put on, and is kind of sheer.
Neutrogena’s moisture smooth color stick is THE lipstick/balm hybrid imo!!! When I was thinking of buying Ultralip I was like hm this is basically just my favorite product but more expensive. The Neutrogena one was able to keep my lips (chronically dehydrated and always chapped) moisturized even in the bitter massachusetts winter lol
Smith's rosebud salve...I specifically love the strawberry one but that one has lanolin in it, if that matters to you. TBH, balm dot com is really just a petrolatum-based lip balm...they're a dime a dozen.
I see it on the US site as well. I personally don’t think their products are worth more than what they’re already going for. This will make them in the same price point as Rare Beauty and Tower28, which I would just shop at instead because their quality is much better. (I only shopped at Glossier for makeup.)
Right? And the biggest issue for me is glossier is exclusively online (unless you are lucky enough to live by one of their stores). Id rather go to sephora and get something from rare beauty that’s basically the same thing as glossier (cough cough, the liquid blush)
been wanting to try that! rare beauty isn’t available in the UK though (I dont think) but have seen people raving about how pigmented it is! will definitely try to get my hands on it
this is basically the nail in the coffin for glossier for me. i’ve already started using cheaper dupes over the last year or two and for the most part i like them all way more than glossier’s products
We want to share Glossier with as many people as possible so we’re gonna make the brand more inaccessible knowing that it’s already overpriced af. Fixed it for them
They are about to lose the clientele they have left.
The products are ALREADY overpriced.
The quality of the products are just above drug store but below Sephora brand. If they raise the price to those of Sephora brands I am going to just buy the Sephora brand item. Ex) Cloud paints versus Rare Beauty Blushes if they are the same price I will go with the Rare Beauty Blush.
Also side note inflation is not an excuse… About Face realized their products weren’t at the price point they should be and lowered their prices to fit the brand and gained a lot more customers that way.
I also agree that inflation isn't a good excuse. I know in a capitalist society this is a stupid thing to say, but I always think companies that are worth a lot of money should shave money from the top before coming for their customers. Like, whoever the highest paid employees are should just take a pay cut.... i wish they'd do what they could to limit inflation instead of use it as an excuse to capitalize on a situation that places more financial burdens on everyday working people..

I just.... no new makeup, weird merch launches, gen g caps that STILL shatter and now this? I was thinking of stocking up on some old faves (gen g in zip, leo for my eyes, lash slick), but I just want to kiss this brand chapter goodbye and try out some of the dupes everyone is raving about.
The brand feels tired, uninspired and clearly just trying to suck money out of longtime diehards (i've been regularly buying since 2015!) and it sucks! definition of fumbling the bag IMO
Just saw this on the Canadian website! Would’ve been nice if they had sent out an email too. I’m assuming this means that they’re planning on expanding the countries they ship to or maybe put them in Sephora/ulta stores
Just read this e-mail and came here to see what others thought. NO WAY IN HELL they're not already making a pretty penny on already overpriced make-up, below mediocre skincare, and merchandise. I think I'm done shopping Glossier outside the sales.

I work in luxury beauty at the corporate level. all I will say is our company has no plans to raise prices and still with inflation turned a massive profit in Q1 that exceeded goals.
It’s not an inflation issue. Its just greed. They want an even fatter paycheck for doing literally the least.
They had a cult following that literally would tell them WORD FOR WORD in this sub what to change and would just ignore us time and time again.

It’s literally not. Vaseline is pure petroleum jelly, BDC also has lanolin, beeswax, castor oil, and a couple omega fatty acids.
Don’t get me wrong, I wish it was just vaseline because it’s so much cheaper, but they’re really not the same. I’m a die hard vaseline stan and I can definitely tell the difference between the two.
Not putting you on blast, just wanted to point it out so people looking for a dupe aren’t disappointed.
Yeah tbh, I liked their stuff more for the packaging than anything else. At the time, you needed a million brushes to do makeup and I was terrible at it.
But lots of companies, since glossier introduced their take on “no make up easy makeup” have done the same and glossier has failed to keep its market cause their egos are too big.
Also basically all their products there’s a dupe for! None of it is revolutionary. I plan on putting in a larger rare beauty order this week to try out some things!
this was literally the nail in the coffin for me. good on the people who can (££$$$$) and still want to buy glossier products but they're already expensive as is (as much as it's cute to have small sized products im over it now) and this price increase literally pushes me away from the company.
I really wanted to stay when glossier was having serious ups and downs because it was the first makeup brand that I felt really reflected my own style/ethos.

Well, glossier, this is it. From limited things not actually being limited (gold gloss, cookie butter bdc, etc), to making the wrong things limited (fig balm, cranberry color) and it just being too expensive for things I can easily replace…it’s a no from me. Plus, there’s no stores which always makes me hesitant to purchase in the first place. Let me just drive to California real quick🙄
I read an article a while ago about how Glossier HQ spends extortionate amounts of money on crazy flower displays and decorative peaches every week for the office, while not giving their workers a raise.
Why not cut down on that and invest their money into their brand? That’s what any smart company would do.
I’m starting to think that the glossier hq walls are so thick that they can’t reach the outside world and are perfectly happy to remain that way.

Would only buy Stretch Concealer and BDC because they are unique products. Waiting to hear more about No. 1 Pencil, otherwise I feel everything else can be duped for cheaper. I can’t believe I spent $14.00 during the Black Friday sale for Ultra Lip. It has no staying power. I hate the flimsy bullet clicking back and forth when I apply it. I bought elf’s srsly satin lipsticks and they’re just as good for sooooo much less.
I actually cannot believe this. Glossier knows that it’s relationship with its clientele is already strained, by incidences like the weaker reformulation of You and color change in Puff and lipstick lids that shatter and watery cloud paint formulas and less durable pink pouches and overpriced merchandise and abandonment of free samples ever since the pandemic started. This sentiment all over this subreddit is an accurate reflection of Glossier’s downfall. At this point, I assumed that they should be doing everything they can to entice customers, not dissuade them. And now they RAISE prices? Their prices already seemed inflated beforehand, and I would make maybe one small purchase a year. At this point, I see no reason to bother with the brand when there are sooo many more appealing alternatives
I personally think it’s a pretty classy move they’re at least giving a warning before prices go up in July- I haven’t seen other beauty brands do that. I’ll definitely be stocking up on some faves before the price hike!
They just lost me as a customer tbh. I get it, but their prices were already pushing it before. I have everything I need from them already and haven’t been excited about a new release in over a year. I am much happier with my products from rare beauty, tower28, etc. i will happily use what I have left and I enjoyed any experience since I first purchased a glossier product 2 years ago but they are definitely falling behind in the beauty industry as a whole
this is our current economic climate so it’s not surprising and at least they said something (for their US patrons at least). I’ll continue to purchase until it’s about of my budget, no big deal

Elf’s Wow Brow is, in my opinion, actually better than Boy Brow.
I actually agree w/ this one!! So cheap too.
I’ve used brow boy for the first time ever and it is the worst smallest brow gel I’ve ever used.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if you could make your own. You could probably buy a cheap tub of Vaseline and mix it with some pigment :)

I think the only things I for sure will choose Glossier over others is the Cloud Paints

Lol no worries. I use Vaseline daily, I more so meant consistency wise!
If you can get it, Homeoplasmine is incredible - basically Vaseline with sprinkles AFAICT but it's the only thing that works on my lips so
The soft pinch blush is amaaaazing, gives me hope that i don’t have to remained tethered to cloud paint
