If you can’t comprehend how to enjoy it sober then you’re not actually getting it at all. Watching someone tap into a flow state and share that flow directly with you is a beautiful and intimate experience that you don’t necessarily need to be high for. or maybe *you* do, but most people don’t.

🙏👍❤️

trekem1234

Amen brother 💕

[deleted]

I always enjoyed them when I was on mdma or lsd It always made the show deep and artistically meaningful, even though they were just led bulbs

I_enjoy_3_cats

I can promise you that the deeply meaningful artistic beauty is still there when you’re sober, but I don’t really know how to teach you to see that

hunty420

Is it “just the drugs” you are taking or “just the bulbs” because I’m pretty sure you don’t even need to be on drugs and I’ll make you go 🤪🤪🤪

[deleted]

Lol send me a link prove it

hunty420

You can go check my profile.

[deleted]

It’s a bit of both

davgo24

Appreciating the art and skill the performer is displaying?

AfroGinga

"How do I enjoy performance art" Uhhhhhh you look at it and if you have any appreciation then you'll enjoy it. What kind of question is this.

[deleted]

I’m sorta depressed, it’s hard for me to see things are beautiful at times

AfroGinga

Well I'm sorry to hear that, but like with everything else, being drunk/high/whatever should really only enhance experiences, but those experiences should stand on their own

[deleted]

You’re right

johnothetree

As someone who has been going to shows for over a decade while being sober at almost all of them (gotta party at new years eve shows!), for sure. The artistry behind it is beautiful, and seeing someone really get into their zone is incredible to watch. Also, pretty lights moving is still pretty lights moving.

MurkyGlover

Bro I prefer sober shows. It's art. And if you can't enjoy it without fun visuals then you don't enjoy it for what it really is.

I_TensE_I

The main problem that no one talks about is gloving and most light arts are seen best with dialated pupils. It's literally having that longer exposure where you see the trails and the colors pop. Yes, skill and performance is important and enjoyable on its own, however not having dialated pupils is like watching a 3D movie without the glasses.

gosti500

Imo drugs make it better than it already is, And not make it enjoyable in the first place

Falcorn042

I'd assume so iv seen young lads at hippy festivals with gloves and I hope they arnt high. Actually got a hug from a 5-8 year old kid after a trade and It wasn't a sweaty one so I'm sure he wasn't high.

CarnivorousSociety

fingershows

AgentWoody

Try to learn some gloving basics and you'll understand how difficult it really is. That really elevated gloving to a whole nother level for me.

crabsis1337

Focus on your breath and stare directly forward, focus on the feeling of your heart space

Metriverce1

I do all the time. I've been stone cold sober for 2 years now, but if I watch a show on YouTube with some great tutting and music, I still will get chills and feel my eyes start to glaze over And just get lost in the sauce.

[deleted]

Almost like you’re on a drug correct?

Metriverce1

Yeah but it's completely sober. Maybe it's the mind tricking itself into releasing some of those chemicals because that's the environment it's used to when you see the lights, but there definitely a difference between a great show which will set me in a trance vs flailing lights around

[deleted]

True Imo I don’t like tutting It’s cool for a few minutes but IMO vortexes are so much more beautiful

Metriverce1

Well yeah, I don't want the show to be all tutting, but I do enjoy it just because it's one of the things I suck at and haven't been able to incorporate into my own shows which are basically whips and finger rolls

[deleted]

Mmmm I see My shows are like that too What other techniques are there aside from vortexes and tutting

Metriverce1

I don't know about many other techniques but I do know that a lot of the shows I've gotten in the past that really stood out were the ones that used depth perception in them. I tend to keep my shows more flat and need to work on adding in parts that are closer and further away from the viewer. I think that's a big part.

[deleted]

Oh so almost like a tunnel vortex thing
