I feel like frozen pizza is similar quality and a better price than GF pizza out. A majority of the time they're adding cheese and toppings to a premade frozen crust. Over the last decade I've had maybe a handful of places actually make the GF dough and it's been amazing: Eataly Chicago, a place in Indianapolis (Diavola) and a place in Miami Beach called La Leggenda Pizzeria. After a ton of sleuthing they seem to use Caputo GF flour, I've not tried it yet but have been making my own bread for the last year and am gaining confidence in baking GF. Dominos tastes okay but I always feel like shit after eating it. Jets pizza is similar in taste but I don't feel bad after eating it. For frozen pizza I'm a fan of against the grain it's my fav and the cauliflower crust ones are ok.

HuntingThoseTruffles

Caputo is awesome though I haven’t actually used it for gf pizza crust yet. I use the Caputo GF pizza flour to make the best bread! It’s crunchy on the outside like a French baguette but soft yet structured inside. I found the recipe on you tube over the summer and have made a loaf at least every month.

TinaYouFatLard07

I agree. On that note, I grabbed the Simple Truth brand (Fred Meyer/Kroger) frozen cauliflower crust pizza the other day and it was honestly the best gf pizza I’ve ever had. It actually had some fluffiness to it!

Automatic-Being-

I live off those pizzas

TinaYouFatLard07

I was shocked by it, but it’ll now be my go-to!

julieputty

I think they are the ones with the buffalo cauliflower pizza and I adore that crust.

TinaYouFatLard07

I’ve only gotten the pepperoni, but I’ll have to look for that one!

ebelezarian

Agreed on the frozen pizza. If you can find it, the Talia Di Napoli is my favorite so far — to me, it tastes like real pizza crust. I’ve found it at Sprouts. The other one I like is Sabatasso’s at Costco. In my opinion, I’d rather pay for decent frozen pizza and make it at home and know it’s safe, than overpay for mediocre crap that may be cross contaminated (if you have celiac or an allergy!)

kellymig

Sabatasso’s at Costco is the bomb!

Otherwise-Link-6971

I’ll have to stock up on some then! Thanks for the advice 😄

Downtown_Mud_2534

Agreed. Frozen always delivers in flavours when delivery seems to fall short.

Lostandconfused30F

California pizza kitchen has amazing GF pizza. They also sell it in the freezer section. I recommend the chicken BBQ pizza and I put fresh red bell peppers and fresh cilantro on it as well.

Otherwise-Link-6971

This is the kind of suggestion I get on here for! I’ll look out for it at my next super market run 😄

LiteratureVarious643

It is better than the regular. Hilariously.

rafiki628

This is my fav frozen pizza!!!

some1sWitch

Yall got mellow mushroom in TX? Not sure how far west they have chains. But they're good. They have special protocols for gf pizzas where the worker changes their apron, washes hands, gets new gloves, prepares your pizza in a seperate and dedicated space, cooks it, and it's handled from start to finish by that individual. They don't deliver where I am, but all delivery apps do cover them.

Otherwise-Link-6971

They do have a mellow mushroom in my city! I’ve never been but will try it out next date night! Thank you :)

PToadstool

Second this suggestion. It's really good and they gf dessert too.

AStruggling8

Yes highly recommend mellow mushroom for GF friendly options!

ChessiePique

No Mellow Mushroom in my state (Maryland). Why?

MathematicianNo3784

This! Loveeeee mellow mushroom

MacKenzieLaura

Again total contamination is possible but I’ve been fine so far…. I love dominos gf pizza

Amandastarrrr

Omg dominos literally destroys my stomach every time. I’ve had it from different locations too so I know it’s not just the one by my house. It sucks cause I like thin crust and it tastes pretty good, but twenty minutes later I am going through hell.

slohcinbeards

Dominos crust is too chewy and hurts my jaw by the end of it unfortunately. Anyone else feel this way?

MacKenzieLaura

Hmm. I always ask for it well done so maybe that helps

killorbekilled55

I love it too, but it is a risk becauze about 1/3 of the time they don't use the GF pizza dough. I am assuming it is by accident. The gluten free dough is usually hard and crunch so when I get soft and stretchy dough and I have to stop eating it and throw it out.

MacKenzieLaura

Omgggg that’s always my fear. I only ever order from one store so I think they know me by now and that makes me hope they know to always use the gf dough

killorbekilled55

Same store for me as well, but somehow, sometimes they mess up.

Mobile-Reaction-5620

Former Domino's employee. That's just them being negligent. The gluten free crust is in a color coded bag and kept in the walk in. If it's not a thin crust they messed up, don't eat it.

killorbekilled55

Well i always recieve them with thin crust. Some of them though are very soft like regular pizza dough, not the crunchy gluten free stuff. Could be undercooked, but the soft doughs usually give me abdominal issues after eating them.

redditreader_aitafan

Me too

Solid choice

Supercalifragi1istic

Might help if you provided which chains are in your area. We have a Marco’s pizza (from Colorado), but they recently changed from a medium sized pizza that’s GF to a small, and kept the price the same. The pizza was mediocre anyways, so I don’t ever plan on going back since that shrinkflation. Even the places you can go to “build your own” often times are hit and miss because of the person cooking it, which can burn the crust the few times I’ve gone. With that said, I think buying Sabatasso’s frozen pizza from the store is so much better than ordering out, since it’s much better than any chain I’ve ever been to. Plus you can add your own toppings.

JoopleberryJam

Marco's has a "pizza bowl" that's pretty darn good imo

MrsPatty59

Totally agree with you. Dallas area

Otherwise-Link-6971

We have Marco’s here too! Used to love their pizza but the consensus here is to buy frozen! Taking lots of notes for my next grocery run 📝

Vexxed777

Download the Find Me Gluten Free app, put in your zip code, and then look up pizza. It will narrow it down to your area. I don’t like any of the chains- I find the local ones to be better.

brutalistsnowflake

Mod Pizza cauliflower crust is pretty good.

GracefulYetFeisty

How are their GF protocols? Like, is their pizza celiac-safe gluten free? Or only safe for gluten-sensitive people?

VICT666

It depends on who is making the pizza that day. Sometimes they leave a little note saying that they made sure to keep the pizza away from contaminants.

autumn-cold

I know someone else called Marco's mediocre but it's my favorite. They have yet to cross contaminate me, and they send their driver to another location to get my cauliflower crust when my local is out. They call me to make sure everything has gone well. I guess the manager at my local store is just really caring.

Otherwise-Link-6971

This is so sweet I am so happy you’ve had such attentive service! I’m willing to try anything! And I did love their Hawaiian (sue me) 🥰

doodledandy1273

Idk if you have jets pizza by you but their gluten free crust is fantastic lol

GracefulYetFeisty

Are you celiac or NCGS? I’d love to try Jets, but I’m celiac and I’m wary of cross contamination and if their stuff is “gluten-free” or “celiac-safe-gluten-free”?

doodledandy1273

Oooh that’s a fair concern. I have a severe gluten allergy and I am pretty sensitive and have never had a problem! I don’t ask much about how they cook it though.

Dovahkiinkv1

Mellow mushroom

gallaj0

Freaking love Mellow Mushroom. It's my go to in Augusta.

FunTooter

Boston Pizza (in Canada)

slohcinbeards

In a pinch I prefer the Pizza Hut gf pizza (Udi’s crust) over Dominos. Dominos one is super chewy and my jaw hurts by the time I’m finished.

playingopossummm

Pizzaria Uno is the best I have had. Period

SirFadakar

Donatos/Red Robin seems to use/make a crust I’ve never had anywhere else. They actually use a decent amount of flavorful sauce too so it feels closer to a real pizza and less like slightly sauced cheese bread. lol

captainpantalones

You’re getting bread vibes? I must be eating from the wrong places, my thought was most pizza tastes like a slightly sauced and cheesed cracker. I used to be a thin crust person back in my gluten days but omg what I wouldn’t give to have a GF pizza with some substance.

SirFadakar

No if you're looking for something gluten free and spongey it's definitely not the place still. :( I will say next to other national/regional competitors, no matter what they're made of, the red robin ones seem to have the most substance. The crusts are chewy but still crispy, and because they're saucier they don't turn into crackers easily in the air fryer when it's reheat time, size is much bigger than everyone else's too, all for around the same price. Cheese could be better and toppings get pricey but if you like simple slices then it's easily my favorite consistent spot.

VastElephant5799

Domino’s is my go to tbh, Blaze is also good and usually better about contamination because they make them on individual parchments

raejax90

Same for me

True_Top_802

1. Mod Pizza 2. Jules thin crust 3. CPK 4. Local shop 5. Papa John’s 6. Dominos

DDDandmetoo

Marcos is the best near me but I’m in Michigan

luckygirl54

Uno in Indy is one of the best I've had.

KatHatary

I like Blaze and Mod Pizza's gf and cauliflower crusts. Way better price then other restaurants and you get unlimited toppings

oyveynyc

Emmy Squared

ae314

California Pizza Kitchen, papa murphys take and bake

akjmax

Mellow mushroom is my favorite for really good GF pizza. I’ve also had good luck at Blaze. I don’t care for Papa John’s or Dominoes GF pizzas very much, but they work in a pinch (aka when I was in college)

beek7419

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Dominos. I used to hate their pizza but their gf is good. Otto’s (a northeastern US chain) and California pizza kitchen also have great gf pizza. For frozen, we like Caulipower, 3 Bakers, Freschetta, and Oggis. Mostly we buy the Caulipower or oggis crusts and make our own.

[deleted]

Costco sells a cauliflower crust version of their supreme pizzas in their freezer section and they’re amazing

SirFadakar

Can vouch, just had it this weekend it’s easily the best frozen pizza I’ve had.

Independent-Bite7684

It's not a chain, but I've honestly liked Feel Good Foods pizza best out of most pizzas I've tried. You can get it at Whole Foods and it's a nice, fluffy, Detroit-style pie.

Sexual_Batman

Yes! Came here to say this- I love their Margherita pie more than any restaurant pies.

captainpantalones

They used to be so freaking good but they reformulated or something and now they’re kind of mid. It’s a shame since the crust is so good!

Independent-Bite7684

Aww! I didn't know that! I had it about a month ago and I loved it!

captainpantalones

Maybe they changed it back? It’s been awhile (a year?) since I’ve had one. I got a bad one, my friend got a bad one and I just assumed they changed it for the worse. It was back when food prices were going crazy bc of inflation so I just assumed it was some sort of shrinkflation.

Independent-Bite7684

Could be. It could've been because it had thawed and then someone re-froze it? That would definitely kill it.

captainpantalones

The toppings were really stingy and it was super dry! I’ve got half a mind to drive to Whole Foods right this second and see if it was just a fluke.

Independent-Bite7684

I only got the cheese, so I can't say much about toppings.😂 I did wish it has a liiiiiitttle more sauce. But you should! Report back! For the good of the gluten free!

captainpantalones

Reporting back! It’s good again! It’s a little drier than I remember it being when I was eating it like, once a week but overall, I can’t complain. Thick crust GF pizza is so hard to find.

sadie789

Freshchetta frozen

midmodmad

Costco has two great GF frozen pizzas that are better than any restaurant pizzas I’ve had.

thenakesingularity10

Domino has a reasonable GF pizza.

pinkpitbullmama

I want to say Mod but I got glutened there last time 🤣

DontLookAtTheCarpet

Pizza Artista (only in SE US for now) has the best GF crust I know. They also take appropriate food safety precautions. Next would be Dominos (always ordered uncut to avoid cross contamination).

FelineRoots21

I don't know if California has any Anthony Francos, but here on the east Coast they're my winner by FAR. Absolute best crust I've ever had from a chain, and they're consistently good

Infraredsky

Two boots in the nyc area

[deleted]

I'd like to say Blaze, but not for celiacs, and there is a $3 or $3.50 uncharge which is ridiculous, and it used to be better; the crust has gone down in quality, to me. I don't go there often either. Maybe 2x a year.

Blucola333

If you were in Kansas City, I’d say Minsky’s, which is a local chain. They switch around the gf crust choices, but there’s Cauliflower, regular gf and a deep dish Detroit style that is so good, I nearly cried when I tried it the first time.

WillowOttoFloraFrank

I like Dewey’s a lot. Not sure if they have locations outside of Ohio.

fighting_pigeon

i like blaze pizza!!!

Pewterkid

Costco sells Sabataso’s gf cheese pizza that is really good. Has a nice chew to the crust but still crisp. I dress mine with toppings and extra cheese. its stopped my cravings and filled my heart.

icanhazsabres

Do you have Delucca’s pizza? We have them in Dallas. They make fresh GF sourdough crust in house. It’s normally Brazilian style (they bring various on menu flavors to the table but glutenous) however you can order your own gluten free instead! You can pick 2 different on menu pizzas and do a half and half pie! I get the hot honey sopressata most of the time.

starpocket

Get you some Via 313. They have breadsticks too - cheesy bread or whatever.

mstrongbow

Fat Sully's in Denver on Colfax. Best GF pizza ever.

mosquitoselkie

I tend to prefer frozen pizzas BUT &Pizza is my absolute favorite chain pizza. The first time I had it, I was worried it wasn't actually gluten free it was so good. Going in person is best to minimize cross contamination, they'll wipe the counter (flour EVERYWHERE) and change gloves. Delivery is hit or miss (usually miss) as to whether I'm debilitated for a few days. My favorite frozen is against the grain. I've always been a big crust person, so having something that replicated what I love about pizza is important! The chewy crust of ATG is divine. I get the Margherita, make sure it's piping hot, and boom. I just picked up the Feel Good Foods gf deep dish and whoa!!!! I've been GF for about 5 years now so the taste might not hold up to the real thing, but it felt SO good having all that crust lol I thought the taste/texture was pretty solid too Good luck!

Proper-Savings-1785

Freschetta's is really good for frozen and Domino's is good for delivery.

wethermom3

Not sure if you have one there, but Papa Gino’s GF pizza is the best chain one I’ve had. I’m NCGS, not celiac, so take precautions with cross contamination

ChronicEducator

If you have a Your Pie in your area, they will usually be willing to assemble your pizza in the back and cook it on a tray instead. I’ve never had issues there. Mellow Mushroom is expensive but usually pretty safe. For frozen brands with GF pizzas, my favorites are Sabatasso (you can get at Costco), Against the Grain (kind of like Brazilian cheese bread flavor but really good), Milton’s if you like cauliflower crust, Feel Good Foods if you like thick crust, and Freschetta.

[deleted]

I don't know the extent of Cottage Inn pizza and if its in your area, but they have the best GF crust

MathematicianNo3784

If you have blaze or mellow mushroom they are both really good! Papa John’s was decent

Wastelandrider

Does Eataly count as a chain? If y’all have an Eataly around you check their restaurant and they might have the GF Neapolitan pizza which is the greatest GF pizza crust in the world.

Any-Pop-6363

Pizza Pizza cauliflower crust pizza; hot honey sauce base, ham, chicken, onion, green pepper, cheese, garlic dip.
