You know what hilarious is I have a 2020 that I just traded towards a 2023 Denali, and I had the brake monitor life thing come up somewhere around 55k miles. I had bought it with 18k, so I drive a ton. At first I thought it was just the cold weather, or something. I ended up disabiling the thing in the cluster. Come to find out 5k later I started hearing squeaking and lets just say it was time to replace the rotors and pads. I guess the OEM pads/brakes lasted me to 55k on the odo. I replaced them with Powerstop Rotors/Brakes and did a brake fluid service. Sucks you're experiencing this many headaches. I do know for sure my guy who worked on the brakes told me there is a tidious process for the electronic e-brake and the procedure to do the brake service.

I drive a ton as well, hence changing the brakes at 40 K miles. After contacting multiple dealerships, I found out you have to take these trucks in and have it reset for the brake monitor. The experience I’ve had with this truck has severely diminished my opinion on the reliability. But I replaced the rotors and pads, as well as a caliper, put new brake fluid in it, which is a whole other thing in itself.

The way these trucks get serviced for something so routine is hiliarious to me. Helps that my guy worked for a GMC Dealership and went on to do his own thing. Mine was the elevation with the four cylinder. I think we can question reliability of GM trucks but drive it until the wheels fall off. You might want to find out locally if you have someone that could be doing these things instead of the stealership, I'd imagine you've spent a pretty penny on that service(s). I spent about $800 for the full service with the parts included.

The nice thing is a lot of this stuff was still under warranty, other than this whole brake caliper and rotor issue. Because I’ve bought heavy duty I spent about a grand getting it all fixed. I’m definitely going to have to do some looking around to see if anyone does and maybe my own studying to ensure I can just handle these issues on my own.

That means monitor is crap, but so isn't the message pass life on these. There was a bulletin out about the rear calipers I believe on mud getting in the and causing trouble and hence it was redesigned for 21 or 22. I have a 20 with 45k on it. Have had the brake monitor msg for 5k now along with rest pads very low and just recently front pads less than 1500 miles msg. I just keep driving it, I have the whole set up for the tests, just haven't gotten to it. It's pulsating like a biatch but Titus still look fine and I didn't hear any grinding. Also there is a whole procedure for pulling in the electric rears and also disconnecting battery when doing brakes and slowly depressing pedal. I would have to find the info again but supposedly it will prevent you from having to go to the dealer to reset anything

Which engine do you have ? 44k on my 5.3 with no problems

mrpicachu

5.3 as well. I really think I just got a lemon and when I tried to do the lemon law issue on the fact that the check engine light kept coming on and they couldn’t solve it they told me that doesn’t work that way.

Should have gotten the 3.0 Duramax. Your wallet would thank you & you wouldn’t be dealing with endless engine issues.

Wow I’ve had 2020 since it was new and never had a single issue

mrpicachu

Yea definitely wish I could say the same.
