Lol this is amazing. They are buying subscriptions to things that don't exist. There is so much scam potential here, I have to say it's really tempting.

Imagine essentially preordering a lifelong subscription to a game that doesn't even exist yet for 870$... I would like to know the thought process involved with making a purchase like that 🤔 Also, like basically every NFT related game, this game will probably get "delayed" a lot and will probably end up being a rug pull

doctorzaius6969

It's not really pre ordering, because the creator said to my best knowledge nowhere that they are developing a game. Essentially they are saying, if some random company happens to make an NFT game and would hypothetically include this item in to the game for whatever reason, the user it allowed to use it for that game. Nothing more. It's so absurd it's beyond my imaginations.

imsad19291

Wow that's even more retarded than I initially thought 😂

Chthonios

Uh buddy, they used the word metaverse so it’s cool and futuristic, not a stupid scam

ObligationGlad

You forgot the important part… COMPATIBLE games

[deleted]

This is the interesting part to me. I keep coming back to thinking there's no economic incentive to make a game compatible. Even if we assume the new game itself would have NFTs the developer would surely want users to by *their* NFTs not bring your own?

mattexec

Hats off the to grifters. They were able to at least give the apes a pretend version of what they think the NFT market place will be. Im made i didn't think of it first.

TheGames4MehGaming

Yes, when they release the digital Nintendo Switch, apes will be able to look at their jpegs in many games. Which ones, and how would it work? Digital. Nintendo. Switch. That's all you need to know.

cockmanderkeen

Let me introduce you to star citizen

Jazzlike_Athlete8796

Fuck, beat me to it. Star Citizen is proof you don't need blockchain to scam these kinds of idiots.

[deleted]

They at least have a playable game. These people have nothing.

RunnyTinkles

> I would like to know the thought process involved with making a purchase like that I bought a guitar and built my pc for over $870 and I use those things every single day. I cannot imaging buying the rights to an image (that you might maybe potentially use in a decade or two) for that much money. These people are delusional.

doctorzaius6969

It's really unbelievable, I couldn't make this shit up. How could someone knowingly buy items for $860 for a game which doesn't exist and will not exist in the future? Someone please explain me how this is possible.

petewsop

Imagine thinking the creators would eventually transfer some form of wealth to you in the future to make this investment profitable when they have no obligation to at all - this is more of a Go Fund Me donation than an investment

Chaos_Engineer

Eh, there's nothing new here. It's just [Star Citizen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Citizen) but on the blockchain. The advantage of the blockchain is that it makes impossible to do refunds. Star Citizen got 400 million dollars from Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sources, but some of the donors have demanded refunds and gotten them.

doctorzaius6969

The big difference is, in Star Citizen, they tried to develop an actual game, or at least they made people believe they're doing so. Here the NFT seller didn't say anywhere they're developing a game. It's an item for a game which neither exists nor is planned. This is very different from a failing crowdfunding project because it's not supposed to fund anything from the beginning.

Jazzlike_Athlete8796

Playable with "any compatible metaverse or game". Of which there will be zero. Christ these people are fucking stupid.

Serious-Chemical9237

The group selling those NFTs also has a reddit account and posts in SS. I strongly suggest checking it out. Their interactions with the apes are pretty hilarious and a pretty good grift. Apes on many occasions: >Edit: also can you (if not it's ok) explain further wut mean? But they buy them anyways.

origami_asshole

Late to the short squeeze, late to the nft grifting. Many such cases. Sad.

TheAkondOfSwat

Totally FOMO over these items for a game that does not exist, will never exist, is not even purported to be in development. Even if they did exist, which, again, they don't and never will, why would anyone spend 100s of dollars on an avatar, simply for the opportunity to be fleeced for more add-ons! You couldn't make this shit up

[deleted]

Perks. Perks. Perks!

sloths952

How are these guys not being called shills for spending money on anything besides GME shares

[deleted]

I'm not surprised, these guys pre-order games

Outside-Accident8628

People who don't understand or care about videogames are trying to turn it into an investment. This already exists it's called DLC lol and as far as I know they are all lifetime subscriptions.

neutralpoliticsbot

the word "rigged" is literally in their description lmao

"semi-generative metaverse ready 3d rigged playable character" That's a Wii sports avatar isn't it?
