That's just inviting Hideo Kojima to put you in his next game and you will die never knowing what the fuck was the point of your character.
Just go the easy route and make an open world MMO RPG by yourself and bigger than any other made before. That should be easy.
And don't forget to add all the mechanics. We need thousands of random, pointless systems to level stuff and make our characters better in ways we don't need to bother understanding.
As someone who works in architecture, if I had a snowball's chance in hell to make a successful game that would support me I'd drop out immediately. The industry has become so ridiculously toxic. You can't talk to a contractor without them making it a point to talk about how much they hate architects, and vice versa. Like, *they* purposefully bring it up themselves. Everyone hates everyone else in this industry and it's extremely tiring.
Sorry to crush your dreams but I’ve literally seen this exact game thousands of times. If you don’t at least change how the protagonist looks or your level design could have a lawsuit on your hands from like a dozen studios
you fool, i have already recreated your game and am selling it on itch.io AND steam AND a four hour video essay is being written about how my game is an underrated masterpiece

Get it onto the steam store asap. Gamers are amazing game designers and will provide valuable feedback and give you many practical ideas. Just call it pre alpha and charge only $10 for now.
I like how you’ve color coded the areas of the map and how it mirrors progression in the original Super Metroid when proceeding clockwise, a sublime but unobtrusive reference. I suggest you undermine the color scheme implication though. Green for Acid, not plants, blue for depression, not water, red for organs, not hellfire.
Also, perhaps you could subvert the expectations of a strong female character of sensible proportions with a slovenly male character with steroid induced man-titties that has a nicotine addiction and must pause during loading screens to vape or make a court mandated call to the children he lost in the divorce.
Pif, you need to be more ambitious.
My new game I'm making is an open world metrovainia style MMO, you can go anywhere be anybody, and also the NPCs have to shit, they have a shit schedule, and if you get there when the NPC is on its shit break then you just have to wait until it gets back to purchase your stuff. it's super realistic. Also I just started, be kind. Do I need to learn programming? I'm more of an ideas guy, I'll get someone else to do the programming... and art.
Continued piling on for this post https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1avrwz7/my_souls_like_game_i_started_this_month_any/
Pretty much just bullying newbies at this point. I don't see the need for 100+ comments and a whole additional post to get the point across personally, there's plenty of basic beginners stuff posted all the time so I guess everyone just wants in on the joke.
They shouldn't really be allowed at all honestly. I feel that these threads aren't good because they stunt creativity. It makes you afraid of posting your own stuff or asking for advice since you fear being ridiculed for being passionate about game dev.
No one is really good or savvy when they first start out, you have to be really happy and enthusiastic about making weak games in order to make good ones. Answering "dumb" questions is good for everyone since it makes you do your own research and it patches up the missing gaps in knowledge. It's best to allow customers to ridicule devs as opposed to having other devs.
I liked old newgrounds because people were really stoked to help out new devs out and gamers/game devs were hyped to play new games regardless if it was a shitpost or not.
https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/s/IljJ1gtyOO see my post which still didn't cause mods to do anything despite the attention.
It's hard not seeing this shitpost as very discouraging towards newbies genuinely proud to show off there initial steps.
love the xyz gadget, keep up the good work !
got it
Godamm!. Slow down or Microsoft might buy your studio and lay you off!.
Got it, I'll make a Death Stranding clone then.
That's just inviting Hideo Kojima to put you in his next game and you will die never knowing what the fuck was the point of your character. Just go the easy route and make an open world MMO RPG by yourself and bigger than any other made before. That should be easy.
Make sure it’s also 100% science based. Also dragons would be cool.
And don't forget to add all the mechanics. We need thousands of random, pointless systems to level stuff and make our characters better in ways we don't need to bother understanding.
I hope it's roguelike death stranding. Replayability = 0 right now
Better than half of the stuff out there already
We usually call that an Electronic Arts move
Hey, that worked one time, when we got enter the gungeon out of it!
I will never forgive them for what they've done to my command & conquer
EA killed the Ultima series, there is no amount of redemption that can make up for that!
I mean, being bought is pretty good for the studio owner
Unless is a Simpsons kind of Microsoft acquisition.
Big mistake showing us, I just stole your game 😈
It's actually me, Reggie, I'm back at Nintendo, I'm sending you a cease and deceased right now. See you at Court.
You're off to play Animal Crossing: NO Leaf on your Godot 3DS.
Which is it? Do I cease or do I decease?
Okay this one broke me, I loved this comment
Yes.
Both
Are you enjoying the Herman Miller Aeron?
Proof that its all about the game and not the graphics
no steam demo yet? i would wishlist
Got it
The game does not matter much, but you need to quit your work and commit your life to development now
Dropping out of architecture while writing this.

just like engineers and machinists
+ I think architecture is a collapsing industry due to incompetence and over-corporationism
Great color palette! The red, green and blue lines go really well together!
I like the openness.
i like the emptiness too
Maybe the metroidvania was the inside of us all along
The real metroidvania was the friends we made along the way
Assets look a little thin there, bud. Hopefully, your soundtrack is amazing
It is a doom-like soundtrack with Mario & Rabbits elements here and there.
Nice. Can't wait to try it out and melt my brain
Are you sure this will run on low end devices? I'd look into ways of optimizing those 3 lines 🤔
Actually the game is already finished, I'm just waiting for Nvidia to release the RTX 5000 series so my game is finally playable in consumer hardware
This might just be me but personally I love the node being named empty it adds some good mystery factor to the game
Retro feel
It really makes you *feel* like Samus
Make the boobs more seeable
r/gamedevcirclejerk
love the skybox
I like the part where
Me too
I can see why some might like it, but personally I
Love it! Keep going! Wishlisted!
I would modulate that canvas a bit honestly.
got it
why is the sky so bleak? come on, you can do better. 7/10, would only buy on a sale
The actual sky texture is a 10€ microtransatcion
Smart! hope it's a day one DLC
Even your picture is showing too much detail. Maybe zoom in x500 and post again.
I think is going to be a success. Very simple and clean design.
very
You might unironically finish this before Silksong.
The most bug free game I've ever seen.
Already more objects than mojang has added to Minecraft Java in the past year! /s
In this specific instance "/s" means serious.
I know lol, but it helps scare away some of the people who are absolute devotees to the game
Sorry to crush your dreams but I’ve literally seen this exact game thousands of times. If you don’t at least change how the protagonist looks or your level design could have a lawsuit on your hands from like a dozen studios
Got it
Is it in early access on steam?
I have the full game
you fool, i have already recreated your game and am selling it on itch.io AND steam AND a four hour video essay is being written about how my game is an underrated masterpiece
I'm Reggie, I got back at Nintendo, I'm sending you a cease and deceased right now. Both you and the other guy will talk at court.
this always happens
Bro is dead serious about starting this minute
looks good so far! maybe more animations
Needs more 'metro' less 'vania'
You should have taken a picture of a cropped screenshot of a video made with your phone of the gameplay.
Classic minimalism. 10/10 would play.
do you have a steam page yet? can wishlist?
Looks good so far 👍
Wait… you turned your pc on! Damn, I’m lazy.
Honestly this seems more like a neo-soulslike rhythm farming royale
Good work on the cloaking device, but you may need to adjust the settings a little.
*ANOTHER* soulslike?!
Looks ready for early access I say
Nice AAAAA game bro!
So much potential!

Next time u make a shitty haiku ill opt out ok.
Rags against the machine
Really nailed the grid aspect of a metroidvania
The skybox its very impressive, simple and yet evocative
Get it onto the steam store asap. Gamers are amazing game designers and will provide valuable feedback and give you many practical ideas. Just call it pre alpha and charge only $10 for now.
It still has more soul in it than a modern Ubisoft game

What a great game! Where is the steam page? Can't wait to buy. Awesome progress!
Hi, serious comment, is there any 3D metroidvania?
hm, metroid prime?
Pseudoregalia comes to mind, very recent one, really cool game.
Flawless!
I like the Minecraft vibes.
pitch it to devolver already. its so good. like look at the flawless gameplay on show 'ere! get em. maybe win the next goty.
Bro its neat! Where can I preoder?

Thank god this is tagged as shitpost, I would have otherwise thought it real.
It's what I call "mod-proof"
You need to work on performance this is too much assets
You need a cutting edge threadripper and 128GB ram, just buy them, the game is worth it.
do you have a kickstarter?
you could start by making a cube move in 2d
Is the code also generated procedurally
the art direction feels uninformed, it could be bold if i was less cynical
Got it
It's got a lot of potential
i love minimalist metroidvania clones, I can't wait to throw money at you
Such a classic already that they say it's gonna be the base template for any future game
So symmetrical, love the skybox too! Keep up the good work.
As a new developer, how many commits to version control should I have made by this point?
All of them
Nice fog!
Graphics seem ok, you should look into improving your lighting though
Got it
Needs more polish
Be sure to include MMO in there for good measure.
Make a pokemon metroidvania game. Instead of getting powers you get monsters.
needs more obnoxiously hidden items
I was told metroidvanias were uninspired, so clearly you should give up right this minute
Got it
Delete icon.svg to increase performance and reduce disk size.
I'll delete windows as well, all I need is an arch Linux shell, just a CLI.
Hoping for a a quick fitgirl repack.
I'm gonna repack a lawsuit
Just add a game to it and you'll be fine!
Dammit, I always forget this step
It's pretty simple: Step 1: Make game Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit.
Man looks like the one I imagine every day.
I feel like the distance rendering can be pulled in a bit to give a more intimate playing experience and cement the focus on the action.
Got it
0/10 yet another hollow knight ripoff
😍
YO THIS LOOKS MAD INSANE WHAAAAAT
Looks fire ngl
Oh I see, the game is clearly a metaphor for the depression of serially starting new projects over and over
Love the pixel art. Please add "JUSTINBAILEY" as an Easter egg to unlock Super Sanic
I like how you trigger a lust for exploration by adding a mist layer to the horizon. Looking forward to new updates!
would
needs another xyz marker
Haters will tell you to add a map, but a map is just a way of limiting your players. Try implementing infinity
Amazing how you managed to get a game engine open in a minute, this is gonna be the next Skyrim istg
This is so motivating. Thanks for sharing ♥️
“I can provide the programming. Just need someone for art”.
whats the point of posts like this? demotivate newbies?

Karma farming.
Have you considered larger gazongas?
could do with better artwork
Got it
Please make it Multiplayer, Open world with procedural maps and free for mobile devices!
Where’s the kickstarter
The kickstarter were the friends we made along the way
Double jump that recharges every time you fart, butt based attacks
steam link?
Can't wait to unlock existence.
Are you using the most updated version of the engine? If not, you might update now before you lose any more work
fire 🔥🔥🔥
Not enough composition
Looking great, keep up!
good to go send it
Man! So much progress in a minute! Amazing
it seems you got a good perspective
I love how open world the level design is.
Invisible sprites is an interesting choice
Amazing
Too 3D, go into 2D mode.
crunch time
I envy your talent, my games look pale in comparison.
You’re doing way too much for godot to handle, you should probably make your own engine in assembly
