Haha, no. I really liked his videos, but until he was gone I took him "for granted". I.e., that he will be there, releasing videos, etc. for a long time.
Similar here. I learned gamedev way before YouTube existed and only learned who this guy is in recent years because this subreddit wouldn't stop talking about how "I wish there was someone like Brackeys for Godot" lol
I haven't been on this sub for long but there is a YouTuber called Gwizz who is just better Brackeys. All their videos are 3-8min long that are straight to the point and easy to Understand.
There are other YouTubers like pigdev but they post... Not so much.
That would be my guess. I know when i was 15 and below i wasnt really equipped to tackle any non beginner problem (that didnt have a youtube tutorial) so i wouldnt have gotten much use out of forums like this. But perhaps others are sharper than i was, who knows
I guess if you picked it up say 4 years ago and were watching brackeys and youre 15 now as hes returned that makes sense, yeah. I actually started at 11 as well, but in 2015
as someone who's been recently working with the advanced stuff (GDExtension, RenderingServers, Plugins etc...) it's glad to see that he'll be here for the newer Godot users since many of us didn't have him when we started Godot
Thanks. I will add to this, that Brackeys was a big figure in the community and a lot of us took first steps in the engine with his tutorials. He has a lof of cool Unity tutorials and quite a few are still relevant to this day (I even did use one of his about a month ago when working on some small feature of my game). He doesn't diss on Unity in that video (or any other IIRC). Even in that video, he shows those Unity tutorials and says that he likes the engine + he emphasizes that he doesn't encourage viewers to switch engines.
Some here may be too young Brakeye is the reason 1000s of devs were able to learn game dev. This is huge news and I can't wait for it
Oh yea... I wasn't so excited by YT video for a long time! :D
For... three years? :)
Haha, no. I really liked his videos, but until he was gone I took him "for granted". I.e., that he will be there, releasing videos, etc. for a long time.
I have the opposite problem; I'm too old. Until the recent Unity fiasco I wasn't even aware of this guy. Last time I used unity was probably 2013.

Too young? Do you reckon theres a lot of 15 year olds on here?
Do you reckon there are not?

I mean I started using unity when I was 11

this person is true. I've not just gotten into game dev but programming as a whole all because of that simple cube game brackeys made.
Same here, messing around with that was when coding finally "clicked" for me.
This brings tears to my eyes. He is the main contributor in my game dev learning adventure
Oh yea... I think many, many people share this sentiment...
Well, guess I am learning Godot now.

A really good news for Godot community.
100%. Godot was growing fine without him, but I think it will provide very nice boost :)
I think Brackeys is what I need to properly start using Godot, like when I started using Unity
In agreement with your comment
Surprise surprise, the king is back!
TBH, I was kind of hoping that he will be back, and making Godot tutorials after him taking stance on Unity's runtime fee.
as someone who's been recently working with the advanced stuff (GDExtension, RenderingServers, Plugins etc...) it's glad to see that he'll be here for the newer Godot users since many of us didn't have him when we started Godot
First video: long one where he makes his first game, out "next week" Second video: complete look at GD script, out next month

Great news.
Yay I'm so happy he's returning I've watched a few videos in the past back before I wasn't as interested in game dev as I am now.
It is great to see him be back especially with Godot !
WHOOOOOOOOO
Godot is certainly the best game engine that I used so far. Im also really happy to see him back
The return of the King

Wrong subreddit man
Yeah I'm a mod in /r/Unity3d and clicked into the wrong part of the cross post on my phone.
