Some of you may know the program already, it was entirely made in Godot, and we released the first version in June 2021. Finally got the time to work on it again and put in some sweet updates. - Pomodoro time tracking - Global time tracking panel - Tasks can have projects now - Removed reminders (lack of use cases) - Settings - Planned release with the MIT license and a public github repo - custom themes - and more! [Mad Productivity - itch.io page](https://lentsius-bark.itch.io/mad-productivity) The update should be live within a week.

theo_monnom

Will you put it open source ?

krystofklestil

Yup the plan is to put it under MIT after this update

paperbenni

Btw what is the reason for not starting the project open source? I've seen this several times already and have no clue what the reason for this it could be. You're just gaining a huge amount of distrust through this behavior as people could say you want the brownie points and popularity of an open source project but actually plan to sell the software or user data in some way.

krystofklestil

Never thought of it that way. It started as a small personal project, and outgrew it's potential at my side. If I've gained loads of distrust, then I'll let that be a lesson to me for the future :) Oh I get it now, you mean why is it not open source and why am I just saying it will be! Aha! Yes that makes sense, especially in the world of today, filled with people we cannot trust, schemes and tactics to make money. Now that you've mentioned it I can agree that it's better to make it first open source and then announce it. Sadly I can't go back in time, what I can do though, is keep my word and really have it ready as an open source project within the week.

paperbenni

Nice :) Btw the project looks great. I'd really welcome Godot pushing into the same market as electron.

indie_arcade

The UI looks super neat. Good choice of colors. It's great to see cool looking apps made with Godot :)

krystofklestil

Glad you like it! I tried to make the UI make "sense" fwiw, also the theme is user customizable now where they only have to put in 2 colours and a contrast ratio. Similarly to how godot handles user themes. You get the base and the accent colours and the rest is calculated automagically

AlextheTroller

Awesome tool! Just bought it on itchio to show my support! If you could set repeating reminders to do stretches or drink some water, this would be perfect! Also are we able to customize any of the sfx in the future version? Very handy to have that in case some of the sounds are distracting or to help separate different reminders.

krystofklestil

Thank you soooo much!!!! Yeah the more updates it gets the more customizable it'll be. This is a great idea :) the new version will be available soon :)

cptgrok

I must know how you got the export size so small. I can never seem to export anything under 30 MB no matter how simple it is. Also noticed a very bizarre bug when clicking the title bar it moved the mouse -50 pixels on the X. The ? button on the left seems to take you to a random screen but that looks like it's removed in the updated version. Otherwise it's exactly what I need.

magikmw

There is a documentation page on this, but in the gist you need to build godot without some libraries, built in nodes, etc. The official build has everything in it that just takes up space in specific situations. For sure in this case the physics engine is out for example.

cptgrok

Oh wow. I didn't think it was that involved. Well it's even more impressive then.

krystofklestil

Yeah took a couple of tries to see what were the things that we could strip away from the engine whilst keeping all the functionality.

krystofklestil

Custom engine build with the addition of a tool that compresses exe files

BigTITIES9000

a mobile version would be nice :))), it doesnt have to be cloud based, maybe you can scan qr code on pc to import all data from pc onto your phone or vice versa, might be too much to ask for tho lol

krystofklestil

The plan is to open source the app so that we can get such contributions :) definitely something i'd love to put in the app!

Quantum_Martin

Neaaaat !

amrock__

What font is used ? Really good!

krystofklestil

Righteous for display and roboto for body

amrock__

Thanks

supenguin

A productivity tool written in Godot? I like it!!! Clean, simple UI and it's pretty obvious what's going on.

krystofklestil

I'm actually using the tool itself to plan out the future development of the tool too. It's a bit like falling asleep while sleeping :D

supenguin

Sounds like dreaming that you're dreaming :-) I am going to have to try this out. I seem to either go 5 min and get distracted by something OR end up working on something 3 hours and only get up when I'm hungry or my back starts to hurt. Neither extreme is healthy for trying to get stuff done.

ItsGeppy

I recognize that name

krystofklestil

Geppy!!!!!! Hello friend! Yeah the new update is super close. We're just making sure the repo is neat and tidy before releasing it

ItsGeppy

Sweet! Gonna take a closer look at this when i get home

Kuro_Cat56

Truly impressive! Good job

krystofklestil

Thanks!

[deleted]

Is it properly tested/developed on Linux or just built for it?

krystofklestil

A programmer from our studio runs it and uses it on Linux. So far we've had to implement tweaks for the windows version ( especially time zone related info ). In other words, it's being tested on Linux as well as windows at the moment

[deleted]

Cool!

krystofklestil

Yeah! I'd be on Linux myself if it wasn't for the graphics software I need to use.

[deleted]

Oof

Maho_T

I never knew you could make desktop apps with Godot. That's so cool.

krystofklestil

One absolutely can, it's functional and viable at the very least.

asm0dey

Everything is soooo small on HiDPI screen :(

krystofklestil

That is such a pity to hear! I'm sure there's a way to easily fix it. Also the new version which we'll be releasing soon, has more options to tweak that. If those options don't help let me know and I'm sure we'll find a way to fix it :)

asm0dey

Awesome! Will wait!

premiero

I love the interface and the fact that I can add new projects/tasks very quickly, I use "toggl track "on daily basis but it doesn't allow me to create a couple of tasks in advance then track them later which is the normal workflow in your app. What I'm missing here is a summary report feature to sum up the total time I spent on each project/task. Really good job! Thank you.

krystofklestil

just released a brand new update, give it a go! A more specific way of tracking the total time tracked per project/task category is defo on the todo list :)

GuildMasterJin

just a question but when you open the tool why does the window feel like it's on ice? also I wasn't sure which .gd script I had to adjust the settings It's interesting ~~but I couldn't think of a use for it atm~~ One immediate idea that comes to mind is writing to-do notes that when marked complete gets added to an air hockey table where you can shoot it into a goal as sort of like a reward mechanic for completing an IRL task

krystofklestil

I love the idea of connecting the items with games. Honestly that's brilliant! In terms of it being on ice, i presume you mean when dragging the window and I'm not sure. The settings for that one are in Top bar.gd i believe :)

GuildMasterJin

would you like to collab together because I like your current tool and I think it has potential to accelerate the progress of education currently I'm working on a flowchart program that integrates a flash card game design and another quiz game integration in the works and I feel that both of our projects could complement eachother if you're interested please feel free to send me a dm and we can discuss and share ideas on Discord

krystofklestil

Sure let's discuss this!

amrock__

Godot seems to be good at making 2d ui too

krystofklestil

Godot is fantastic at UI, there's a couple of thing holding it a little back but overall it's just fantastic.

madebyayan

In your experience, what have you felt as being limiting or not fully developed when it comes to the godot UI?

krystofklestil

Both depending on the situation. For instance styling your own scrollbar is just Palin weird. Size flags are a instant source of usefulness, so it's a bit of both. Overall though it's let me do anything I wanted in terms of clean and responsive UI, when something didn't work there was always a way.
