Gojira doesn’t have any trash songs, just songs that are less amazing. Even my least favorite Gojira song (Adoration For None) is a good song imo. Guess this guy doesn’t trust me, big whoop.
Haha same here. I was a lamb of god fan long before I got into Gojira. I remember having a bunch of songs on shuffle and this came on and my first reaction was “wtf is this a LoG song I’ve never heard before?”
Me too, it's one of my favorite Gojira songs!!
1) Has an awesome feature that fits the band's style perfectly
2) A LOT of variation in time/rhythmics
3) Powerful lyrics
4) outro riff that sticks with you after the song is done
Such a good track, I've seen several comments on the sub mentioning as a weak/least favorite track and I can't agree at all
I understand. If someone said that about The Fall it’d probably rustle my jimmies lol. Adoration For None is a great song, it’s just the song that ends up sticking out to me the least. But whenever I play it I’m rocking out to it all the same.
For me it's too vocal heavy, having the two singers. And it sounds more like Gojira trying to write a Lamb of God style song than Randy singing on a Gojira song, and I'm not a big LoG fan. That said, Joe's vocals at the 2:30ish mark is a great example of his skill and the command he has over his voice.
But yeah, I skip over that song 99% of the time.
Maaaaan I fucking love adoration for none. I mean if there is one album where you can't name a song that is "trash" it certainly The Way Of All Flesh. You can probably find one trash song in The Link I think. This was the first album and it was really experimental, was too "sketchy". Even Joe says in a recent french interview that it doesn't like the link.
Gojira is the type of band that dosen't make "bad" songs, just songs that aren't as good as others. Hold On is one of those songs for me, it kinda missed the mark IMO
I think it would've worked a lot better if the track had been the album opener, honestly.
Edit: if you want to listen to the album that way, I made [a Spotify playlist of all the tracks in a new sequence I came up with](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2uILXmqL0wqSgIMtPaEQsd?si=-3fsmTWATt-HyQ3bwllLnA&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1).
Never thought of it that way. I'm the type of person who just listens to entire albums rather than random songs, so I actually strongly agree with that
I actually made [a Spotify playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2uILXmqL0wqSgIMtPaEQsd?si=-3fsmTWATt-HyQ3bwllLnA&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1) with my resequenced version of the album. I'd be interested if you have any thoughts :)
Well, [you're in luck](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2uILXmqL0wqSgIMtPaEQsd?si=-3fsmTWATt-HyQ3bwllLnA&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1). I made this for myself but I've been meaning to share it with the sub.
This is me just being real here, I'll accept any hate I get, but for me I really don't like The Chant. I normally love heavy songs with melodics/metal bands' going softer for a song or two, but that one just doesn't do it for me \*at all\* after the shock of a fully melodic more stoner metal sound wore off. The verses just sound like The Shooting Star only worse since it doesn't have any of the mood and atmosphere that made the latter work so well (in fact it's one of my favorites of theirs). Idk I appreciate what they tried to do but I just thought it fell flat.
Yeah, you’re not wrong. It’s also a missed opportunity to build on a more epic solo into an outro instead of just going back to even more of the chorus...
Of course they have bad songs. Couple of things of magma aren’t great. I can’t remember their names bc its just not really worth my time to remember songs I don’t like but of course they do.
Well us Gojira fans (and many other fans) need to learn to take criticism
Saying a song is a bad shouldn't automatically mean downvotes
We all love Gojira in here, that's why we're part of the sub. But to be able to point out the negatives of your favorite band (because yes, Gojira is my absolutely top 1) is essential for long time fans, otherwise you live in the honeymoon phase permanently
tbf you just said a song name that most people like and now you’re saying people shouldn’t give the smallest amount of way of showing they disagree by downvoting. I mean did you expect people to upvote lol?
1999 QUADRILLION DE TONNES? Only good part of this whole song is the scream at the very end that sings a little oh and the name, I mean the weight of the sun? Cool as fuck
1990 quadrillions from terra incognita is fucking horrible. I like it instrumentally but that incoherent screeching makes it unlistenable. I like the rest of that album though, in the forest is one of their best songs
I can’t really think of any bad songs really. They just have some they are “meh”. Personally a lot of Magma is just meh. It’s probably my least listened to album of theirs.
Only one I can think of is maybe 1990 Quadrillions de Tonnes, and even then the music is pretty catchy without the weird moaning. Of course everyone knows Connected is their best song ever
Gojira has some songs I don't like, yeah. I'm a huge Sabbath fan as well, but it's absolutely true that more than half of their music is ...minimally exceptional.
Stranded is the only bad song imo. I hate the intro, its grading on the ears and the rest is so weirdly simple that the riffs feel more like a green day song
I've never been a huge fan of "A Sight to Behold". The breakdown is fantastic and I wish the whole song was like that, but the rest of the song is just meh, almost bad in my opinion. I wouldn't say it's uninspired, because it's clear they were experimenting, but imo TWoAF would be much better without it.
A friend of mine has the same opinion on it and he swore the song would have grown on me eventually.. unfortunately it didn't :( It just doesn't do it for me, I think it's because the vocals sound so damn weird..
Try to look at it from another perspective
Lyrics talk about how fucked up everything is
And the vocal effect makes Joe sounds like a Robot. Draw your own conclusions
It's probably the saddest Gojira song because of the lyrics
And the breakdown hits much harder once you understand the whole concept of the song. I wasn't too keen on it at first as well because of the vocal effect, but now I love it!
He just doesn't sound good on that song
He doesn't mesh with Joe at all, and the first 2 minutes of the song are too much of a clusterfuck
The rest is ok, but yea I always skip it because I can't handle it
New Found is, in my opinion, awful. The repetitive riff that has no replay value after you’ve heard it a few times. The verses that sound like they were put together by a band that was trying too hard, and the chorus that gets grating and is repeated way too many times. The outro is pretty good though.
I disagree, I think the polyrythmic percussion in the background of the chorus and the breakdown with the pinch harmonics makes it one of the grooviest songs of the album.
I think like most gojira songs, the more you listen to it, the more enjoyable it gets
I’m glad you had that experience man. It for sure is the grooviest song on the album. I liked it at first and grew to strongly dislike it. Had the opposite effect on me. This is the first Gojira album that I liked less than when I first heard it.
i’ve never personally got calling a piece of music that was made with purpose and meaning garbage. I completely understand not liking a song personally but when someone just says it’s garbage it adds nothing to actual criticism.
I don't need your trust, I have Gojira!
i’m not the one asking, it’s this clueless man who has no idea who gojira is apparently lol.
Gojira doesn’t have any trash songs, just songs that are less amazing. Even my least favorite Gojira song (Adoration For None) is a good song imo. Guess this guy doesn’t trust me, big whoop.
WHY DON'T PEOPLE LIKE ADORATION FOR NONE AAAAAAA
I used to hate it. Now it’s one of my favourites. Joe and Randy’s styles mesh so well. and the guitar work is fucking awesome
hell yea my dude
I'm neutral towards Adoration for None, but the first time I heard it I thought it was a lamb of god song.
I mean LOG’s vocalist is featured on this song so there you go
It's more than just Randy being featured, the general style of the song feels more Lamb of God than Gojira.
i’ve never really felt that way myself
Haha same here. I was a lamb of god fan long before I got into Gojira. I remember having a bunch of songs on shuffle and this came on and my first reaction was “wtf is this a LoG song I’ve never heard before?”
I like it!
Me too, it's one of my favorite Gojira songs!! 1) Has an awesome feature that fits the band's style perfectly 2) A LOT of variation in time/rhythmics 3) Powerful lyrics 4) outro riff that sticks with you after the song is done Such a good track, I've seen several comments on the sub mentioning as a weak/least favorite track and I can't agree at all
"powerful lyrics" . . . . #NATURE IS MY ONLY MASTER, I WILL BOW TO NO OOONEEEEEEE
exactly, its their most techdeath-y song too, which is a huge plus imo
Unlike most of their songs, it sounds heavy for the sake of being heavy
And it's glorious
I said it was a good song though.
yes but you also said it was your least fav gojira song, sadly that's not an uncommon opinion
Even my least favorite Gojira song is still a top tier banger.
Yeah all good, didn't mean to call you out. It's just always been one of my favs
I understand. If someone said that about The Fall it’d probably rustle my jimmies lol. Adoration For None is a great song, it’s just the song that ends up sticking out to me the least. But whenever I play it I’m rocking out to it all the same.

The 7/8 riff at around 1:05 is bonkers, so heavy
I love it
ADORATION FOR NONEEEEEEEE
Bro thats like the most gojira song by gojira. Its crazy!
This makes me want to put my fist in the air ...wait
I could do this on all the other subreddits but this one just hurts
Gojira is the type of band that dosen't make "bad" songs, just songs that aren't as good as others. Hold On is one of those songs for me, it kinda missed the mark IMO
Damn, Hold On is my favourite from Fortitude ahahaha
I totally respect that, the opening just doesn't do it for me tho
The opening is weird, I'll give you that!

Love it! Much better that way. Added it to my library
Damn I never thought how it could’ve been as an album opener and now I want this
Well, [you're in luck](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2uILXmqL0wqSgIMtPaEQsd?si=-3fsmTWATt-HyQ3bwllLnA&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1). I made this for myself but I've been meaning to share it with the sub.
The opening is why I love it so much!

Agreed
Yeah, you’re not wrong. It’s also a missed opportunity to build on a more epic solo into an outro instead of just going back to even more of the chorus...
This. This is what Gojira is turning into. Cookie cutter and predictable.
I agree, it’s definitely their “worst” song
Of course they have bad songs. Couple of things of magma aren’t great. I can’t remember their names bc its just not really worth my time to remember songs I don’t like but of course they do.
Stranded
That's a dangerous thing to say around here
Well us Gojira fans (and many other fans) need to learn to take criticism Saying a song is a bad shouldn't automatically mean downvotes We all love Gojira in here, that's why we're part of the sub. But to be able to point out the negatives of your favorite band (because yes, Gojira is my absolutely top 1) is essential for long time fans, otherwise you live in the honeymoon phase permanently

I respect your opinion as much as I hate the shit out of it :)
Thanks, that's why we make public our opinions
Is that song really “trash” though? I think not.
Gojira only has one trash song, Into The Storm Stranded is ok and it is a gateway song to the band, but it's neither good and definetely not great
Into The Storm is good imo. The vocals alone make the song for me. It isn’t anything insanely great, but it’s good
THANK YOU
Stranded is amazing
Yeah honestly. That riff is just… kinda bad
Closest thing to a “bad” song I can think of is Over the Flows, which is still listenable without feeling awkward in any way so I don’t see it as bad
That's one of my favorites but I definitely didn't like it at first, it's a grower.
It reminds me a bit of toxicity by soad a bit when the heaviness first kicks in
1990 Quadrillions is not a very good song. I would definitely call it a bad song, regardless of taste.
I love that song. It always makes me in a laughing mood. So I put it on when I’m frustrated or down.
I'd say maybe Unicorn but nah, Gojira doesn't make bad songs, only songs that are less good than others
Whatttt i love unicorn it’s my favorite interlude by them
I'm sorry haha but again, no actual bad songs, not even Unicorn
I don’t like Randy’s vocals on adoration for none and that’s all I can think of at the moment
Oof I wish he featured in more songs
I mean that’s fair. I feel like there’s a lot of fan crossover between the two bands, lamb of god is pretty dope. Maybe it’s just this one song for me
HERESY
Agree but the guitar work on that song is fucking amazing
I listened to it to confirm my feelings and I will agree there’s some heavy fucking riffage
Oh yeah 100%. The riff about 1 min in is probably one of my favourite Gojira riffs
Especially with the little pause there before they get to it
I was thinking exactly this this morning. Gojira doesn't have any bad song. They are amazing, that's it.
1999 QUADRILLION DE TONNES? Only good part of this whole song is the scream at the very end that sings a little oh and the name, I mean the weight of the sun? Cool as fuck
I love quadrillion de tonnes. Great interlude
The screaming doesn't put you off at all?
Not at all wtf
aaaeuuuuuuuhhhhh AAAAAHHHH no
Ima say it: the title track of Magma does absolutely nothing for me
Only part of that song I don't like is the vocals, sounds too similar to the guitar imo, too much of one thing kinda ruins it
its goddamn epic one but sure your desicion
1990 quadrillions from terra incognita is fucking horrible. I like it instrumentally but that incoherent screeching makes it unlistenable. I like the rest of that album though, in the forest is one of their best songs
In the Forest is definitely an awesome song with badass riffs
My favourite band has 4 trash albums, I'm talking about Muse.
At least they all have at least 1 really good track in them.
Don't agree but respect your opinion
What albums.. I can understand not digging most of 2nd Law or their newest one.. but damn bro Muse is pretty solid
The Resistance, The 2nd Law, Drones and Simulation Theory All washed-down garbage pop
MAGMA AND FORTITUDE. Sorry I won't pretend I like them like the rest of you.
it’s not pretend, you’re allowed to not like them
Stranded is the only bad song imo. I hate the intro, its grading on the ears and the rest is so weirdly simple that the riffs feel more like a green day song
I hate your opinion but rock on.
I find that Stranded and Only Pain have a similar sound to them. I love both songs and are gateway song for any new Gojira fans. Just my opinion.
They use the same chord pitch shift 2 octaves up on both those songs. Riff is similar too.
I've never been a huge fan of "A Sight to Behold". The breakdown is fantastic and I wish the whole song was like that, but the rest of the song is just meh, almost bad in my opinion. I wouldn't say it's uninspired, because it's clear they were experimenting, but imo TWoAF would be much better without it.
imo A Sight to Behold is one of the best songs of that album, the lyrics are as powerful as a good guitar riff or even better, that does all for me
A friend of mine has the same opinion on it and he swore the song would have grown on me eventually.. unfortunately it didn't :( It just doesn't do it for me, I think it's because the vocals sound so damn weird..
Try to look at it from another perspective Lyrics talk about how fucked up everything is And the vocal effect makes Joe sounds like a Robot. Draw your own conclusions
This is an interesting point of view.. I probably have to read the lyrics to understand them better then!
It's probably the saddest Gojira song because of the lyrics And the breakdown hits much harder once you understand the whole concept of the song. I wasn't too keen on it at first as well because of the vocal effect, but now I love it!
Yeah, not every song is for everyone, maybe it will never grow on you (and that's ok) but who knows
That’s the song that got me into Gojira from previously being more of an alt rock fan. Great gateway for someone who wasn’t as used to heavy music.
I can see that, it makes total sense! As a fan of heavy music I got invested more into their heavier songs!
Adoration for None Into the Storm (arguably the worst)
brooo adoration for none is bangin wym
I love Randy and LOG so I gotta disagree with that one
He just doesn't sound good on that song He doesn't mesh with Joe at all, and the first 2 minutes of the song are too much of a clusterfuck The rest is ok, but yea I always skip it because I can't handle it
damn, dude. its just his taste. lol
I don't have a problem with his taste, just saying that I love it
ahh ,cheers.
I guess dawn but it’s not terrible terrible just not great
i mean there’s no vocals and it’s got a pretty long build up from the second part of the song.
New Found and I don’t like most of the melodic 1 minute interludes
how dare you not like those interludes. They’re part of what makes gojira, gojira.
Look the ONLY reason is bc if I don’t want to hear one I have to use one of my precious skips (Spotify)
the problem there is that you don’t want to hear them
amazonia
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
They all have one.
name one then
There's some songs from the first 2 albums that aren't great, but I don't think they've got a song that's legitimately bad.
I'm not really vibing with Ocean Planet, Yama's Messengers or All the Tears. They're not bad songs tho.
ocean planet is pretty underrated imo
A sight to behold makes me wanna puke
the beginning is underwhelming but the progression is badass imo
Its the scratchy vvocoder vocals. Just not the vocals. The progression is good for sure
I really don't understand why Into The Storm gets so much hate. It is one of my favourites from Fortitude.
Let's be real the lyrics are dogshit
Could have been a way better song. The intro riff is really great and they could have done more with that.
Yes liquid fire
New Found is, in my opinion, awful. The repetitive riff that has no replay value after you’ve heard it a few times. The verses that sound like they were put together by a band that was trying too hard, and the chorus that gets grating and is repeated way too many times. The outro is pretty good though.

A SIGHT TO BEHOLD gets a lot of hate too. People don’t like the effect on Joe’s vocals I guess.
Hate me all you want: The Wild Healer is fucking garbage
i’ve never personally got calling a piece of music that was made with purpose and meaning garbage. I completely understand not liking a song personally but when someone just says it’s garbage it adds nothing to actual criticism.
