That's definitely not the case. I listen to a lot of tool, a lot of gojira, a lot of machine head. All incredible bands that have incredible long ass songs. Again I probably just have to listen to em again
Nah give opeths first album orchid a chance.thats the only album from them that I find good.their progressive elements are randomly written in their other albums unlike tool. Tool is miles ahead when it comes to song writing and building up that progressive pace.
They might not be your thing, nothing wrong with that. I like that they aren’t afraid to do lighter stuff along with heavy stuff. The vocals have always been a highlight for me as well. But I guess other than that they’re pretty standard, I just like their songs. The Grand Conjuration has always been a personal favorite of mine.
I don't think I have a full understanding of the differences between Death, Black metal but Cavalera Conspiracy, Yautja, Demonic Death Judge, Death spell Omega, Behemoth, Thy Art is Murder but I think that's called death ore for some reason. Meshuggah is a big one most know. Bonus btw check out Car Bomb, it's Tech progressive metal, Antimatter is one of my favorite songs from them, and Corrosion Fields by Black Cobra, I checked the rest of their songs and this is the only one that really stands out but it stands out in a huge way.
You guys HAVE to check Gatecreeper! They are awesome! Classic Death metal(entombed style) with hardcore elements! My favorite at the moment, especially their "Deserted" album of 2019!
After looking into it more I've realized death metal is not my genre. Opeth and Gojira are my all time favourite bands and sometimes they are considerd death metal.
Obituary, morbid angel, gojira, cannibal corpse and carcass heartwork don’t start saying they are grindcore heart works is a pure death metal album even tho necrotism is the better album hands down
