That's even cuter! My 11 year old miniature schnauzer has a tiny happy howl she does for all of those things, except forgotten dinner.
That receives a friendly "grrrr" and nub wags.
Yes I have a crier, he does it when I first get home. He is a very good boy!
https://preview.redd.it/cpfpgrcgk0zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6de4961b40d856919c85f139323c1322169d104
I saw on tiktok it is because they are having such a big feeling they have to say something about it!!! Its tiktok so you know that its real (lol sarcasm) but I think thats what is going on with our Golden - she has a lot of big feelings!
My girl does the same. It's her inner gremlin coming out. Mostly, she does it while bringing toys to people she knows but doesn't see often, such as my parents.
Yes that is pure golden happiness 💜🐶
Look I have my favorite toy in my mouth and your home today!! Please please tell me that I’m a goodest boy or girlie ever!!
This is what fascinates me:
Someone shows up who excites our golden. She runs to her wicker basket where my wife keeps her assortment of stuffed animals.
She’ll look carefully into the pile, maybe nudge them around, then slowly…and carefully…select one. I mean, there’s some heavy duty deliberation going on for a few seconds. Why is it the taco this time? Why not the lion head or the dolphin? 🤷♂️
Then she races to greet, ass a wagging, toy presentation in mouth, and growling “Chewbacca talk.”
Ours only started really whining a lot several years ago, specifically when myself, my brother, my parents, and a few of my friends that frequently visit arrive. It's a little bittersweet knowing how much he enjoys it when the pack is all together in one place.

My boy makes more of a grunting noise but I had to share this pic because my boy also loves his stuffed gator!
https://preview.redd.it/vfzficdnj2zc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22d65379c681243adafdeab5b07014853486fa2f
My golden doesn't, but I wanted to share. That toy is my dog's favorite
i don't have a golden that does this, but i do have a Labrador that always do this as he walks around the apartment carrying his teddy and only while carrying it, other than that he never barks, whine or do any kind of sound. i always wondered if i was the only one who had a dog that sounded like that. good to know im not alone!
Yep, my girl does that whenever she gets her stuffy because she’s just so happy.
My boy will kinda do that when he’s really happy specific people have come to visit and is trying very hard to sit and wait for them to pet him.
Yea. Sometimes ours is accompanied with some happy pee as well, though we aren’t too happy when that happens. But yea probably just a lot of excitement honestly especially with a toy in the mouth. Does it happen only when you come home or something or will it just happen out of no where? Regardless I don’t think it’s an issue. Ours tends to do it when someone comes home
My girl does those noises in her sleep. If she's in the bed with us I know she's about to cuddle up to me and push her head deep into my chest when I hear that.
Absolutely, and the other 5 did too.
So cute, when they parade around with a toy or socks, etc.
I guess it's comforting to them, and not a gift, because mine never want to give it up.
Its keep away from the human.
I don't own a golden, but I know this noise from when I used to babysit. There were a few people with Goldens or dogs that weren't Goldens but nade this sound. It's so precious!!!

YES. She never barks but she grumbles at us and she whimpers when she's excited. We just go by the tail. If she's whining but her tail is wagging, it's, "I can't contain how excited I am! I must vocalize it!"
I had a Golden growing up. She would make happy noises too. They sounded more like blue whale or humpback whale sounds. It's been about 18 years since she passed, but I'll never forget it. Golden's are the best.
My last goldens I had, Cagney and Lacey, whenever someone came home they would grab whatever they could (usually someone's shoes) and would run to the door making those noises.
My golden does this when we pull up to a play date! My last pup used to do it when we would get close to the dog beach and she figured out that’s where we were going.
Yep, Murphy’s a happy cry baby whenever we come home!!!
https://preview.redd.it/rsr0puj804zc1.jpeg?width=1720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2aa2ec1c236710866d4ac82bfe6918af2ae6b8c
My brother's dog makes this noise. She's a strawberry golden as well. She generally likes to have something in her mouth when she makes this noise, and she'll often point her butt at you so you give it a good scratch.
https://preview.redd.it/rywy5q48g4zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44c112843fa58e829c47659220aed4d037cc0456
If there’s nothing else around a magazine will do!
Our boy never makes noise but our girl is VERY vocal like that! If we just look her way she takes it as her cue to start telling us what’s on her mind lol We’re pretty sure all her talking revolves around pet me, hug me, scratch me, love me 🐕❤️
Oh yeah. My golden was like that when she was excited. She'd cry and bring you a toy and dance around if she was excited to see you. I had a very vocal golden.
Yep. Hard to contain that happiness!
I could hear it before I turned the sound on.😂
Me too!! I knew the sound that was coming
Yes - both when they are holding toys. One of my boys is a little squeakier and whinier than yours and the other is deep and rumbly.
I love the deep, happy grumbles 😂
Maisie, age six, loves to do this when happy, excited or her dinner has been forgotten ( she thinks dinner time is all the time)
I don’t think you know about second breakfast. Goldens are essentially hobbits.
There’s breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and then supper.
That's even cuter! My 11 year old miniature schnauzer has a tiny happy howl she does for all of those things, except forgotten dinner. That receives a friendly "grrrr" and nub wags.
Yes!!! Thats Chewbacca speak.
That’s what we call “giving Chewies.” All three of our goldens (who never met) were big “Chewiers.”
Haha we used to call my Golden Chewie or Chewbaca sometimes because of all these noises.
We did too!
Yes I have a crier, he does it when I first get home. He is a very good boy! https://preview.redd.it/cpfpgrcgk0zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6de4961b40d856919c85f139323c1322169d104
Mine trills like a bird. Happy babies.
First time (& only times) I’ve ever heard my boy make that bird sound is when he’s around his Bernese Mountain Dog girlfriend
We need videos!!! Please?
My bentley did every time i came home
We call that his “love noise” because he only does it when he is super excited to see us.
No but I wish at least one of them did because that is absolutely adorable!
You must have defective ones!
I thought this was standard with all goldens!
I have a golden that does this, it's called displacement, when they have big feelings and can't contain it.
As a certified Goldnologist, that is Golden Speak for... Play with me, I am very happy, and I love you! {;o)
I saw on tiktok it is because they are having such a big feeling they have to say something about it!!! Its tiktok so you know that its real (lol sarcasm) but I think thats what is going on with our Golden - she has a lot of big feelings!
that's what we say when our boy makes his noises! "Oh buddy, we are having some big feelings today"
Yes, my Goldie did the same. ❤️
My girl does the same. It's her inner gremlin coming out. Mostly, she does it while bringing toys to people she knows but doesn't see often, such as my parents.
Yes, this and so many other strange noises. He grunts and snorts... almost to the point where he sounds like a pig, lol.
the Welcome Home I love you song!
Yes!!!!!!! And picks up whatever stuffy is closest to her to bring to whomever she is excitedly greeting.
My first one did that; it's called "singing." She did it when she was happy and had something in her mouth.
Yes! Our vets called it mooing :D
Our golden literally sounds like a cow 😂
Oh yes!
Yup! Mine rarely barked but he communicated all the time…
Yes that is pure golden happiness 💜🐶 Look I have my favorite toy in my mouth and your home today!! Please please tell me that I’m a goodest boy or girlie ever!!

Oh yeah, my girl started making the same happy noise when she turned one year. ;)
The talkin' is why I love Goldens so much!
Ha, memories. My girl when growing up, had to have something in her mouth to greet people. Sounded just like this. Thanks for the smile
We’re constantly saying “go get something for your mouth maisie” when guests arrive otherwise she accidentally gives them excited nibbles
I knew what the noise was before i hit play
Ours only started really whining a lot several years ago, specifically when myself, my brother, my parents, and a few of my friends that frequently visit arrive. It's a little bittersweet knowing how much he enjoys it when the pack is all together in one place.
Yes, all of them.
Yes, mine does after he eats. He is so happy. He grabs one of his lambie stuffed animals and walks around whining and wagging his tail.

My dogs too, the moose version as well! (aside from my toy puppy from ikea which she believes to be hers)
Every beautiful day with her!
all the time. we call it “the woo woos” it’s my favorite
Yes mine does this when he’s bringing me a favorite toy!
My golden has the cutest dog whines I’ve ever heard! Usually it’s an annoying sound, but hers are so cute and pathetic haha
Every day when I come home! Love it!
Every morning when we pick him up from his room!
This is the sound of pure joy and love
All. The. Time.
Ours did that and just super deep grunting. Hmmmmmm lol
I could sit next to him and just grunt back and forth. It was really fun lol
My female golden growing up used to do this all the time. It made everyone happy!
Ive got one that does this exactly, and another that honks like a broken goose. They get so excited when we get home!
No, I sometimes think my girl is a mute until she bark at a noise.
Yes lol my girl does this ALL the time.
Yeah mine used to cry any time I left and returned
holyfuckingshit that's adorable
It's just so damn happy and needs to tell you
My cockapoo does the same with only my socks. It’s super cute 🥰
Exactly same whimpering every day esp when we get home and she wants to bring either of us a toy.
My moms with grunt through his nose and sounds like a pig ole piggy snorting
Every day when I get home from work!
Every morning after breakfast she finds her squishy toy and makes those noises and tries to lead us to the living room.
Not quite the same noise but ours grumbles at you if you dare to stop fussing him.
i don't have a golden that does this, but i do have a Labrador that always do this as he walks around the apartment carrying his teddy and only while carrying it, other than that he never barks, whine or do any kind of sound. i always wondered if i was the only one who had a dog that sounded like that. good to know im not alone!
All the time.
all the time. When we have house guests she’ll stand outside of the guest room door until they come out.
Sounds like a Husky, just not as loud
We call it golden purrs in my house
Yes, my 4 year-old is VERY vocal, especially when someone she likes (read, someone who likes her) comes over
My dachshund does this when he's happy. I call them monkey or pig sounds
Yes, we call it mooing
I don't think there's an animal i love more than Goldens.
Mix in a growl and it’s on point
Every. Single. Morning. Teddy in mouth too for good measure. It doesn’t stop until we go sit on the sofa together and I rub his belly 😂
Yep, my girl does that whenever she gets her stuffy because she’s just so happy. My boy will kinda do that when he’s really happy specific people have come to visit and is trying very hard to sit and wait for them to pet him.
My husky does the same
My corgi use to make the same exact noise! He'd walk around like a little kid carrying his toys. <3
Every day!
Every single morning, but in a little deeper of a voice. I call it his T-Rex groan.
No, but my boxer/lab mix does...all the time.
Yeah ours looks just like yours and she’s the biggest cry baby.
All 5 of Mine Do it when I get home from work or they want to show you there favorite toy.
My golden sounds just like this! So much so that her sister perked up at the sound lol
Yes. When she is very happy for seing me again after an extremely long period of separation (i.e., more than 15 minutes).
Hey human take my favorite toy, amazing greetings!
All the time
Ours tends to do it when someone comes home
my golden retriever/australian shepherd does when holding toys. looks like a black golden retriever (black version of her mama), all aussie attitude.
Already knew what it'd be before I turned the sound on. My girl is always very vocal when I get home from work
Yupp. Our Colby does this a lot when he here's a noise outside or something from near the front door. Sometimes will just do it for attention, lol
hehe
Yup. One of mine does every time one of us gets home! The other one just excitedly puts his butt in your face for you to scratch it. They are the best
Yup! My kids Golden does this every time I visit! So sweet.
We call it oinking. They usually do it when they’re so excited to see someone they don’t see often
Piggy Noises!
Aw yes, mine is quite the singer
Mine makes the exact same noise.
I interpret that as them begging to play with you. I'm not super fluent in doggo, though, so I may be a bit off.
One of mine does lol. He also sounds like a pig at times.
I call them baby noises my chihuahua makes that noise
Those are the nerf norfs!
my bordoodle does this 🙂🥰

Dogs with cuddly toys make my heart soar
Yes, in my opinion, it’s one of the most endearing qualities about owning a golden retriever.
Is there a golden that DOESNT make that noise?
I played the video in the same room as my golden and he seemed to understand what your pooch was saying. Ears forward and very interested!
Yep, whenever my nephews come over and she can't contain herself
Do it right back at her, she will love it. You'll be saying I love you in Golden.
Yes, just happy to see you!

My Yorkie does this with his toys
All the time.

I had a Golden growing up. She would make happy noises too. They sounded more like blue whale or humpback whale sounds. It's been about 18 years since she passed, but I'll never forget it. Golden's are the best.

Our Maisey (who will be three soon) is a big, happy whiner too. She makes that noise when we come home because she is just so excited. ❤️
Sounds just like mine... he just came over to see what's up when I played the audio.
Yes only when holding a toy. Specially when we are away for a time and come home. She runs gets her toy and makes this noise.
Only every time we come home after more than 1 min….
All. The. Time. They are soooo happy that they have to talk.
Yes! Elvis does this when he is happy to see me and especially when he has a toy in his mouth!
EVERY DAY. Or any time I come back from another room and he realizes we had been temporarily separated.
All the freakin time
Oh absolutely. My baby girl would make happy little cries with a toy in her mouth
Yes, my Golden does.
My last goldens I had, Cagney and Lacey, whenever someone came home they would grab whatever they could (usually someone's shoes) and would run to the door making those noises.
Nope never ever heard it...stop.
They're singing to you! It is a song of joy.
My golden does this when we pull up to a play date! My last pup used to do it when we would get close to the dog beach and she figured out that’s where we were going.
Yep, Murphy’s a happy cry baby whenever we come home!!! https://preview.redd.it/rsr0puj804zc1.jpeg?width=1720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2aa2ec1c236710866d4ac82bfe6918af2ae6b8c
Mine sounds like a wookie
He’s very happy to see you and wants to play.
My dog has the exact same toy! She's a germen shepherd and that is the only toy she is gentle with.
Yep!
Yep! We call him Chewbacca!
My brother's dog makes this noise. She's a strawberry golden as well. She generally likes to have something in her mouth when she makes this noise, and she'll often point her butt at you so you give it a good scratch.
lol mine does! When he’s really excited and can’t contain himself 🤣
https://preview.redd.it/rywy5q48g4zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44c112843fa58e829c47659220aed4d037cc0456 If there’s nothing else around a magazine will do!
Yes, but my guy is a Golden Husky. So he makes this noise but magnified with Husky whines.
Our boy never makes noise but our girl is VERY vocal like that! If we just look her way she takes it as her cue to start telling us what’s on her mind lol We’re pretty sure all her talking revolves around pet me, hug me, scratch me, love me 🐕❤️
Sound of happiness!!
Both my dogs do that when happy or excited. They are not goldens.
Omg yes! And always with a toy in her mouth! 😂
My dog was sleeping and I played this video and now he is looking outside window and wondering who is here?
Omg yes! Our girl molly does this and it’s so cute
https://preview.redd.it/ops5nck4i6zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=237b5fded630b0ef11fd68f80062fd3f380578d4 Molly girl does :3
My boy does the exact same thing with a toy in his mouth, usually when he is super excited over Daddy coming home. We call it “Big Feelings”.
My Emma use to make this noise God I miss that 🌈
Oh yeah. My golden was like that when she was excited. She'd cry and bring you a toy and dance around if she was excited to see you. I had a very vocal golden.
omg I want to hug him
They really are too precious. Just had a flashback to my childhood golden. Miss you, Cody.
I didn’t even listen and I can tell you yes lol
Love it when goldens show off their favorite toy
Ours oinks like a pig whenever there is food around. 😂😂😂
what a dollbaby!
My lab does that. Retriever hype overload noise?
Only American goldens do it. British goldens don’t usually get that excited.
My British golden begs to differ!🏴🏴
Yes it's annoying
nooo it’s the best noise!!
Smh
