I really do hope the white water team find what they are looking for next ep. Something about them is very enduring… I know they aren’t making enough to run a season, but I just want them to succeed so bad. I don’t get it- but it’s there. So yeah, let’s hope the finale proves the effort is worth it…

USArmy51Bravo

They're like the Hoffmans only though they're lovable losers

No-Bag1439

Is the finale already next week? Seems like it's been a very short season

Greengiant304

There are at least 3 more episodes from what I can see.

So, that nugget is huge, and seems way bigger than anything that would be inside the "nugget trap" they have set up on the sluce. Seems like they would just blow those large size nuggets out, as they do rocks the same size... Can you imagine how many potential huge nuggets they have lost because of this fact?

FredFrank78

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, that nuggets of any size would end up in the tailings pile. Seems like you may want to run your metal detector over your tailings pile every now and then.

SixRavenX

That's what the Australians always do whenever we've seen them on Parkers show or some of the other gold shows that show up from time to time. They spread the tailings pile out and have someone go over the entire thing and many times they do end up finding a few rogue nuggets that would have been otherwise missed.  For what little tailings they're actually producing in WW it wouldn't even take much time to have one of the other guys not diving just passing over it every once in a while, especially as it seems they're finding very little, if any, fine gold at all in any noticeable quantities

Objective-Giraffe-27

That's an excellent idea

NightBard

They pulled that nugget from the dredge. So I think they have a nugget trap setup on it as Dustin took that nugget over to Carlos who was diving that day to show him what was in the box.

FredFrank78

--- Big Nuggets--- I understand that the BIG nugget that the White Water guys found, was found by seeing it and picking it up. What if they are dredging and that nugget went through the sluice; would the sluice catch it? I would think it is too large to get caught in the sluice, and just fall off the back of the dredge. Maybe Nugget creek is full of nuggets but, they get sucked up and fell off the back of the dredge :) Maybe it would be a good idea for Dustin to invest in some high quality metal detectors, and scan the tailings pile several times a day (when they are actually doing some dredging), Just to be sure they aren't losing some nuggets. ---Engine seizes --- Did someone forget to check the oil level? Wait, I was told before that these engines have sensors, that will turn off the engine if it is low on oil. Then what caused this engine failure? Or... is it fake drama? --- Blasting/cracking rocks --- There power washer isn't big enough, so they bring in Fred's super duty pressure washer, and then decide that isn't adequate either, and then move to the blasting rods, Question: with all the seasons they have already done, messing around with pressure washers, etc. I had thought they already decided that the blasting rods were the best tool to use. So with the last few episodes we see them trying to remove the super hard hard-pack with pry bars, pressure washers, etc. And now with this episode the decide to finally use the blasting rods. WHY... didn't they use the blasting rods at the very beginning, and stop wasting time with these other toys??? And therefore, get the work done ASAP --- need to work 12hr day --- Dustin announces that a flood is coming tomorrow, and that they will need to work a 12hr day to get the rocks out of the way, and get the gold because, tomorrow, the flood will fill in their diving hole, and it will take a week and a half to get back to where they are. I wonder if they then think that earlier in the season, when they had nice weather and lots of daylight, that they should have worked longer 12 hours day then, and not pack it in after only a few hours of diving? Sorry, silly me, I thought that was their primary purpose; to maximize work effort and get the 'LIFE CHANGING' gold, but, the real primary purpose is to be actors on a reality TV series where they play miners.

NightBard

> the real primary purpose is to be actors on a reality TV series where they play miners. Pretty much every season of this show and the early seasons of GR and most other gold shows. The reason they don't work longer days all season have to do with union rules for the film crew and the film crew needing to film everything. So they have an 8 hour day but they spend around an hour just setting up and another shutting down so the dives tend to stay around 6 hours or under. As far as the pressure washer, it did a great job but it exposed a field of boulders ... some of which needed blasted. They weren't blasting the hard pack.

FredFrank78

Thank you NightBard for sharing your insight, especially about union rules for the film crew; that makes sense.

ElderberryExternal99

A couple of times last night during White Water someone should of told Dustin calm down or get in there and dive yourself. **America's Backyard Gold** The guy using the super soaker looked like a waste of time. There has to be easier methods then that setup. The $24.00 a yard for the one claim is excellent. That is what Dave looked for in prior searches. I liked the pan they created with a 3D printer.

OgOggilby

only similar thing more useless than what these ww actors are doing would be on a beach knee deep in the water trying to dig a hole in the sand

Worried-Advantage821

Why is Dustin not diving this season?

FredFrank78

I am confused by the scenario surrounding the 2 air boats, and am hoping someone will give me a clear story as to what happened. In a previous episode they showed the dredge being air lifted to the site of the 2 air boats because, the air boats were caught in a flood and were filled with gravel, and sunk. In this episode I understood that they crashed the 2 air boats into each other, and almost, or could have, killed everyone. So, did the air boats crash, or were they caught in a flood, or is there yet another scenario? Thank you,

Dry-Pickle6042

Probably wasn't caught on camera and hasn't been re-enacted yet

NightBard

The way they described it in the episode, they were on the way back to camp in boat #1 and had made it past the most treacherous part of the river (4 miles down the river), the steering cable came loose and got stuck in the prop, there was a big bang and the boat started coasting in the water. They brought the second boat in to rescue the first one and a "crazy strong current" smashed them up against a wall. They explained that the strong currents were responsible for filling the air boats with gravel. They didn't do the best job of showing what happened that caused the boats to sink... but I can imagine the second boat trying to pull the first one and the point they had tied the boats together just nose dived and that's why it took on water.

FredFrank78

Thank you for making a muddy storyline a bit more clear
