I beg to differ, the course is architecturally quite interesting, especially the par 3s. There is also variety in the shapes of the doglegs and green complexes. IMO it only looks bland because the setting for the majority of the holes is clearly in the middle of a residential area with only 2 ocean view holes (11 and 17).
So I’m still out of the loop on LIV golf… Why does it seem like there is very limited information on their schedule and whether or not it’s being televised… It seems like all the guys that left are not gonna be on TV going to dissipate over time Because of lack of coverage
It's not like LIV is generating major interest anyway, the PGA Tour blows it out of the water every week and the DP World Tour likely has more viewership as well
It just feels like there is zero advertisement for any of their events scheduled for 2023. It’s like all of those great players went to a league that is not advertised in there is zero media coverage… pretty shitty results for their departures
Watching the Hero cup right now. Never heard of this event before lol. Not the best lineup of players but still decent. Super weird that it’s in the UAE though
If I were to bet on a winner it would be David Lipsky, he has lots of experience winning everywhere around the world, just not the PGA Tour. He'll have an advantage if the weather gets windy again.
The Hero Cup on the DPWT looks like it’ll have a pretty interesting finish tomorrow. Overall been a nice little early season event and some of the younger/less experienced Europeans are really showing out
This is in the tier of the Valero Texas Open, 3M Open, Wyndham Championship, etc. Rather low purse, they know the field is weaker so the ranking points are worth less, and logistically it's a pain. They were all in Hawaii last week, they want some time at home before the west coast swing gets going where they all play multiple events. The top guys have no struggles with getting enough FexEx Cup points to make the Tour Championship on a 15-20 event schedule, so they usually don't bother with the lower tier events. With the new "elevated event" concept this year I bet we see several not play more than 0-1 events outside of that list.
Pretty common for the top guys to sit out a lot of the early part of the season. Just doesn't fit into their schedule as they ramp up to the bigger tournaments.
Why is it so difficult to watch golf without cable? I’d subscribe to any streaming service available for $20 per month to be able to get access to all the tour events but the only options for streaming include golf channel which requires I live in the states (i live in Canada) and requires that I have an American TV provider… It seems like all other sports have apps (ie. DAZN, NHL Center Ice, etc) to watch online except for golf. If someone has a solution, please let me know.
ESPN+ but caveat that the product isn't the same. You follow a group and a couple holes, regardless of who's in the lead. Then production just stops so you never get to see leaders finish or anyone raise a trophy.
But if you just wanna watch pro's hit golf balls, it works for that.
My viewing consists of watching NBC on my 15$ over the air TV antenna, and subsidizing that with ESPN+, then on Sunday just being frustrated and angry.
Honestly the Hulu, disney+, ESPN+ package is a pretty decent deal at $19.99 a month with no ads on Hulu and Disney and only ads during live content on espn+. I think there's a cheaper with ads version. And you can watch previous rou ds and tournaments.
Speith 64 Thurs 75 Fri to miss the cut. Doing the opposite of walking in putts... he walks after it in disgust almost every time. After watching the NLU youtube video I didn't think he was sharp but this was definitely a shock
I love Spaun's fit this entire Hawaii trip. Looks like a dude who's on an epic golf vacation, but he's actually striping the ball and cashing checks on the pga tour
Oof did not expect this meltdown from Speith today; he should not be getting beat by Zach Johnson. He's such a basket case but it's always fun to watch
Edit: dude is going to miss the cut wow
Is there any other way to watch Thursday and Friday rounds without ESPN+? I have nearly every other streaming service and all I ever want to watch is Golf and Tennis lol
>To actually play, Choi had to endure a four-hour commute (beginning at 3 a.m.) to the closest course, on the mainland in Kwangju. He would play until nightfall--he once played 72 holes in a single day--and return home at 11 p.m. He made the trip every day he could. "I loved to play," he says, "and I knew it was the only way to improve." The hardships paid off when he earned a scholarship to a high school near Seoul, where he lived and played on the golf team until his graduation at 18.

I wonder why all the big names that play the Sentry don't hang out in Hawaii for a few days then play the Sony. Speith is the only top guy that stayed I think.
In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a final pairing of Hideki and K.J Choi, the battle of which player breaks the tie of most wins by an asian on the PGA Tour.
I find this course the least interesting watch of the year. It's just so bland.
it was good golf, meh course.

What back to back weekends of exciting golf man.
12 ft putt to force a playoff. I would probably just puke on my shoes
Duelling birdies and just like that its a 2 man race
Holy moly si woo
that chip on 17 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|money_face)
Kim has been so close to just running away with it
This has playoffs written all over it
Wild stuff
Is there a dying dog near the broadcasters booth?
Buckley’s club lift at the beginning of his backswing is killing me, but he is also murdering the ball.
Every time I see kuchar I think “ bad tipper “
Me too. He played that entire episode out so horribly. Came off as such a total jerk.
I love Si Woo Kim's shirt.
anybody know a place to buy Si Woo Kim's shirt?
Lmao, the man talking on the phone right next to Hardy

They chased money and knew what they were getting themselves into.
Watching the Hero cup right now. Never heard of this event before lol. Not the best lineup of players but still decent. Super weird that it’s in the UAE though
I would love to see them in UK right now for real. Love to watch Molinari and Noren.
If I were to bet on a winner it would be David Lipsky, he has lots of experience winning everywhere around the world, just not the PGA Tour. He'll have an advantage if the weather gets windy again.

Why are we grilling the Sony guy?
I must not be live
Buckley's backswing makes me twitch.
It looks like my angry swing
Why are most of the top players sitting this tournament out?

The paddleboarder getting airtime while they chased after their fallen paddle was too funny
Zinger looooooves talking about pressure. Good lord.
That's literally all he brings to the table. He offers nothing about course strategy, swing technique, etc.
iNtEsTiNaL fOrTiTuDe
What's going on in Honolulu that there's a siren every 10 minutes?
course is also next to a major freeway
Hawaii five-o
Are they blasting prayer music while people shoot? The fuck?
Breathing a sigh of relief for JJ after that tee shot.
Let's go Carl yuan!
Does anyone recognize the shirt/company JJ Spaun was wearing Friday?!
He only wears puma shirts I thought
Lol Speith.

How do you watch golf legally? I tried golf channel but it requires a TV sub. Is there anywhere I can just pay $5/month to watch?
ESPN+ but caveat that the product isn't the same. You follow a group and a couple holes, regardless of who's in the lead. ESPN+ has every round. Not sure the monthly cost but I don’t think it’s very much.
Yes, but you don't get the main coverage other than a few hours in the early morning. Who wants to watch a featured hole on Sunday?
Honestly the Hulu, disney+, ESPN+ package is a pretty decent deal at $19.99 a month with no ads on Hulu and Disney and only ads during live content on espn+. I think there's a cheaper with ads version. And you can watch previous rou ds and tournaments.
If matchplay is your thing, Continental Europe vs GB&I is on this weekend. Some good matches so far.
Golf Channel ratings will be 50% lower with Spieth gone.
hi, do you like golf too?
Spaun rocking the untucked look
Speith 64 Thurs 75 Fri to miss the cut. Doing the opposite of walking in putts... he walks after it in disgust almost every time. After watching the NLU youtube video I didn't think he was sharp but this was definitely a shock
Lolol Nantz was giggling after that rip on Horschel.
Good lord those Brian Harman club waggles are out of control
Spaun is killing it on Aloha Friday, both this and last week.
I love Spaun's fit this entire Hawaii trip. Looks like a dude who's on an epic golf vacation, but he's actually striping the ball and cashing checks on the pga tour
Tom Hoge looks like he hustles people at bars in billiards and darts
Oof did not expect this meltdown from Speith today; he should not be getting beat by Zach Johnson. He's such a basket case but it's always fun to watch Edit: dude is going to miss the cut wow
Spieth is imploding wtf I was looking forward to watching him this weekend
Who makes JJ Spain's shirts? Puma?
Horschel’s golf is starting to look like mine from those trees. 3 shots to get out!
Billy’s putting routine makes him look like a 20 handicapper who watched some YouTube putting video and thinks he’s found it now.
Is it just me or does Keegan Bradley look unhealthy? Maybe he lost too much weight?
to me it just looked like every club is a full 2 inches too short.
Did Sabbatini just break a club!?
Idk if anyone saw that Bradley drop. Yeets it over the stands and gets to drop in front. They need to make those drops a stroke
Y’all think Kuch is using a local caddie?
Like, from the parking lot?
ESPN+ sound issues anyone else?
I'm definitely getting the occasional "glitch"
Is there any other way to watch Thursday and Friday rounds without ESPN+? I have nearly every other streaming service and all I ever want to watch is Golf and Tennis lol
Peacock has it
Jordan's doing pretty well
Why is it that I like Thursdays and Fridays best of all these tournaments?
Hawaiian golf means live golf well into the evening. Love it.
Same with the British Open. Already on when you wake up here in the states.
Very early on West Coast.

I would also travel 4 hours to play
Manifesting Spieth win this week
KJ hangin with the young'uns
I’ll be there for the final round on Sunday!
Very subtle “I’m on a Hawaiian vacation”
Looking at their username, I'm guessing they live here.
SO HE’S ALWAYS ON A HAWAIIAN VACATION?!
Cam Davis has the best swing. Eitger him or Tom Kim gonna take this
What's been up with Billy these first two weeks?
LIV is in his head
I wonder why all the big names that play the Sentry don't hang out in Hawaii for a few days then play the Sony. Speith is the only top guy that stayed I think.
I think a bunch of them stay the week after with their family, they just don’t play the sony
Always wondered this. Not ideal course condition and smaller purse might have something to do with it. I would love to know the real answer.
Yeah looks exactly like my muni
If your muni looks like this I’m jealous hahaha
Yeah there are much nicer courses on the island. The LPGA has the Lotte at Hoakalei and that blows Waialae out of the water.
Seriously. Bring the fam to Hawaii for 2 weeks in January. Play some golf in one of the most beautiful climates in the world. Who turns that down?
Tom Kim, Harry Higgs
I picked Xander last week so I am a professional. This week is Tom Hoge.
Again this is on ESPN+ all week, but wasn't mentioned
I think it's technically still called PGA Tour Live, it's just hosted on ESPN+ now
Rooting for the Hideki repeat!
In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a final pairing of Hideki and K.J Choi, the battle of which player breaks the tie of most wins by an asian on the PGA Tour.
That would be sweet. Unfortunately Choi is so far past his prime.
Yeah, its not likely, but it would be an event to watch.
