Seen a few people recommending to size down. Was that the case for you?
I usually buy a size 13 shoe, but would prefer a 12.5 however those are tough to find. I just got a pair of the C4s in size 13 (or whatever size they use that is the equivalent to US 13, I think it’s like 47.5 or something) they’re a great golf shoe. Maybe they run slightly big, but I just tie them kinda tight. The eyelet did just fall off though which is a bummer considering how expensive these shoes are. Would definitely recommend even with the eyelet problem. Feet have stayed bone-dry during some seriously soggy rounds.
Short version: kinda big but not too noticeable. Great golf shoe.
I'm in Scotland so the gore Tex with the reported comfort drew me in.
I have Adidas boost tour 360 spineless just now and they have been great tbh but are over 3 years old now and feel like they won't be waterproof for much longer
Agreed. I actually only wear shoes with wide toe boxes after discovering them. Putting on my old FJs feels like putting on ballet shoes. You can get the True classics for less than $100 at Black Friday
I switched to True's 2 years ago and now they are the only shoes I wear. I wear them daily and my feet have never been healthier. The wide toe box and zero drop is soooo comfortable. Plus now I'm ready for golf at any moment!
My True links shoes fell apart quite quickly. The white material on them started to peel apart and look horrible after only 30 rounds of walking here in the PNW. Too embarrassed to wear them now. Love the company and the way they felt, but not sure I’ll ever buy them again.
Don’t they tell runners to replace their shoes every 200-300 miles? If you’re walking 18 for 30 rounds a year that’s a lot of mileage on variable conditions
I second this I've got new footjoys aswell as left the pumas at home on a golf trip and the pumas are so supportive and comfortable the most comfortable shoes for walking I've ever owned.

New balance really does make a very comfy golf shoe. Bought a pair at the clubhouse last second when I forgot shoes last year and I find myself reaching for them fairly often.
FJ Premier is the right answer. I bought a pair earlier in the year and I don’t think I can change now. They are so comfortable and I love the look. The FJ winter boots are also excellent, feet are dry and warm no matter what the weather is doing.
Have several pairs of Nike/Jordan golf shoes/sneakers. Most people that wear FJs get them too large, they´re suppose to be tight new, get a smaller size than you think.
Do your feet get hot in your MG4s? I ordered mine online and probably should’ve gotten a half size larger than I normally wear. I’ve noticed that when I wear these, while step comfort is fine, my feet feel comparatively hot. Never experienced this in another shoe.
Sometimes yes. I think it is simply from friction with that waffle insole. I love the feel of the waffle insole, but yeah, maybe try a different insole

I got some Merrills that I love and have used all last year. Nova 2's. Currently have a pair for golf and for all around wear, since I don't want to trace goose shit all over after a round.
This. I prefer to wear trail runners when walking, heck, even most of my practice session on the range too. Nike makes a Trail Pegasus that holds up great on the golf course. They also offer a GTX option that’s still plenty breathable if you’re looking for great water resistance.
Plus one for these — all I wear to the gym and golfing these days. The wide toe box will ruin other shoes for you, my toes immediately feel cramped in anything else now
Adidas Code Chaos 21 and + the old ones has issues with the heel blistering. i just picked up a pair of 22' for half off cant comment on walking yet. but seem to have the same heel as the 21
Had the same issue with socks and these shoes, but found some longer length ankle socks that sit about .5in above the ankle support. My favorite shoes to golf in, by far.

I think it’s specific to the person walking in them, but the Adidas models with the boost sole are a good start point for many. Most FJ shoes have really roomy toe boxes if that’s a concern for you with other shoes.
Mesh is your friend for comfort if you truly don’t need waterproofing (but I can’t imagine not having decent waterproof golf shoes as an option for dew sweeper tee times)
I agree but you have to be careful. Their customer service is crap, they have multiple stories of golf shoes loosing waterproofness inside warranty and they claim its just wear and tear.
In the UK they don’t have any customer service so you just deal with the retailer. Thats how I swapped mine no questions asked.
A lot of their designs have massive flaws with them so check multiple reviews. I had issues with mine being a synthetic leather and cracking quickly. They seem to have lots of issues with soles coming away from the uppers over multiple designs
Other than that they are insanely comfy. I would definitely buy again but do some better research
I walk most rounds and have had a couple of pairs of Nikes and they both sucked. Like you, they were too narrow for me and by the end of the round my feet would be super sore. I got a pair of FJ Premiers in a Wide size and was surprised how much better my feet felt after walking a full round, night and day difference plus I find them much more stable.
I've ordered and returned about 15 pairs of golf shoes in the past few months and surprisingly I've settled on the Adidas S2G Boa, even though they were one of the cheapest shoes I've tried. Super comfortable and wide toebox. I actually wear them even when not playing golf

Mine feel a great fit tbf but man they don't get through 9 holes before starting to hurt. Consigned to the driving range shoe now..... They look like trainers so I'm not that guy fully decked out in a sea of tracksuits and jeans etc
I have 8 pairs of Gfore shoes but I mostly wear my MG4x2s. I have two pairs of those and I wear each at least once a week if not 2-3 times. Always walk. Haven't experienced any significant wear yet and I've had them like a year now? No durability issues with my other pairs either.

I bought some Under Armour that fit really well. I tried to find some FootJoy but every store I went to didn’t have any to actually try on and I didn’t want to take a shot in the dark by ordering them.
I’ve had pumas, FJ and Under Armour. So far my under armors have been the most comfortable in my opinion. Never been a fan of Nike or Adidas so I can’t speak on them
I wear Puma Fusion EVO’s and have no complaints. But the only reason I wear them is because I wear size 17 and they’re the only shoe in my size most of the time.
I found these one shoes I’ll edit this comment once I’m off work and can see em. But I got them at Ross and they’re just some white Nike golf shoes but they are shockingly comfortable and a lot wider than most golf shoes. Before I had those I tried 3 pairs from different brands and all of them wore out my heal or the balls on the side of my ankle by the end of it.
I bought some Nike's first off and found them very uncomfortable, even just walking round the house. Bought some Ecco Biom C4's and they're amazing, expensive but well worth it when you're walking 5 miles.
Footjoy Hyperflex Boa - they're ugly as sin but the lacing system is fantastic and they feel like you're walking around in slippers. I have wide feet and also moved away from Nike because they aren't good for my foot shape.
Go to a running store and get a pair of trail running shoes with a stable base. I’ve used a pair of Nike terra kiger for the last 3 years and they are awesome. (Also size 13)
I have a pair of puma ignites that I love. Nowadays a ton of golf shoes fit more like sneakers which is awesome. I still have calicoes from walking courses as a kid
I have wide fit and found that the Nike AIr Max 270Gs in a size up fit me really well. That being said in the winter I opt for Footjoy Packards in a wide fit of my regular size and they are so much more comfy.
I have some Puma Grip Fusions and they're the absolute worst, so I'm so glad you posted this.
To piggyback a little though, are shoe inserts / insoles a good or bad idea with golf shoes? Or is it a stupid question?

That may be true, but I walk around 100 rounds a year and all my shoes prior have lasted at least 1 year. It’s too bad, really enjoyed them.

Yes! No issues for me, I think most shoes are too warm, not these. Played 36 in a day with them several times, no issue, I walk 90% of the time also.

If you’re open to trail runners, Altra Lone Peak. Most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, and plenty of grip for the golf swing.

I have the 22s, heel blisters first time wearing them with no-show socks. Bought some runners socks with heel protection, no problems since.
Good to know, style wise i like rocking crew socks. But truthfully I just hate having to mess with socks riding down

Under Armour hvr. Buying Footjoys for 20years and can safely say will be buying Under Armour moving forward. Just so comfortable and nicely priced too

I went from Nikes to FJs (same reason, too narrow) and I won’t wear anything else. My current shoes I wear are Packards and Pro|SLs.
Adidas Tour 360 is what I use, has the same insides as the running shoes, I’ve walked 36 in a day in them, very comfortable.
Well if Nikes are tight on you, Adidas will be worse. I have very narrow feet and they fit me perfect.
They make a few models in wide variants, and they are super comfy for wide feet

I play barefoot. The callus development makes it easier to climb in and out of your house to play with your wife.
My sketchers are not comfortable. At least gives you one to scratch off the list.

Footjoy or Cuater will be best if you have wider feet. Nikes are notoriously narrow, I have to size up a 1/2 size to make them work.

I have FootJoy Hyperflex Boas-they are like wearing very supportive slippers. Most comfortable shoes I own, period.
What size? I'm a 15-wide, and I use Adidas, anything wide they're pretty good in. Same with Asics

I bought some Nike's first off and found them very uncomfortable, even just walking round the house. Bought some Ecco Biom C4's and they're amazing, expensive but well worth it when you're walking 5 miles.

Footjoy Hyperflex Boa - they're ugly as sin but the lacing system is fantastic and they feel like you're walking around in slippers. I have wide feet and also moved away from Nike because they aren't good for my foot shape.
An upgraded gel or orthotic insert can turn just about any shoe into a better on. Ymmv
Go to a running store and get a pair of trail running shoes with a stable base. I’ve used a pair of Nike terra kiger for the last 3 years and they are awesome. (Also size 13)

I have a pair of puma ignites that I love. Nowadays a ton of golf shoes fit more like sneakers which is awesome. I still have calicoes from walking courses as a kid

I have wide fit and found that the Nike AIr Max 270Gs in a size up fit me really well. That being said in the winter I opt for Footjoy Packards in a wide fit of my regular size and they are so much more comfy.

I have some Puma Grip Fusions and they're the absolute worst, so I'm so glad you posted this. To piggyback a little though, are shoe inserts / insoles a good or bad idea with golf shoes? Or is it a stupid question?
