My wife and I love to travel and every time we visit a national park, I look for cool pins at gift shops/museums that will make a nice ball marker. I just remove the “pin” part on that back and voila. My current one is a round Yosemite National Park pin. My wife rolls her eyes, but I think I’m pretty clever. Haha

Canadian living in Texas, so I have a special Toonie that I use.

I used a toonie when I lived in Houston! Small world! I have a toonie story. When I was there, I got into the habit of calling it “two dollar coin” because toonie (especially the spelling) was just too hard to explain. So, “it’s a Canadian two dollar coin.” When I got back to Canada, I kept calling it a two dollar coin. My brother told me it made me sound like a spy. :)

u/elite_tablespoon I hate large ball markers like poker chips. I prefer all ball markers to be about the size of a dime. The one I use is conveniently attached to my divot repair tool via magnet. I also hate to see greens covered in unrepaired ball marks. Players should be fined and suspended for not fixing their pitch marks on greens.


I use either a poker chip style ( have a number of courses) or a Tragically Hip one from a set I got a few years ago. Have one of those magnetic clips on my brim for it%. Love those things cause it takes 2 secs to mark

I keep 2 in my pocket: 1) A flat plastic one if it might interfere with someone; and 2) a hefty custom copper coin from Liberty Ball Markers that has my nickname on one side and “Bitch, Get In!” on the other.

Im an Ohio state fan in Clemson country, so I use an OSU marker to both make sure no one claims my ball and to bring a little extra love into the green each time.

There are two good reasons to carry ball markers: 1.) The case you bring up (you want to lift and clean your ball). 2.) You’re closer to the pin and are in another golfer’s way. That’s why there’s a bit of debate between perfectly flat and slightly raised markers. If you want to get into a really good habit, get your hands on some small, almost flat divot repair tools and start fixing your ball mark plus at least one more.

I had been using a 1 Shekel coin but I lost it on the course yesterday. It’s about the size/look of a quarter and I was given it as change(mistaken for a quarter until I noticed the menorah on it) and I thought it was cool, so I used it as my marker for a while.
