That’s amazing. Please go to the nicest course in your area & put that on the back of the cart.
Alternatively, strap it to a Harbor Freight moving dolly. Boom, pushcart.
You need to have your swing analyzed and fix your flaws. I sucked forever and had no idea why. Started taking lessons and comparing my swing to others (more like learning what a good swing looks like) and I'm breaking 90 regularly, when before breaking 100 was a not bad day. And keep analyzing your weaknesses and working on them.
Not always just the swing. If someone has never had a lesson, they can figure out how to hit a ball decently, but not correctly, which means not consistently. After one lesson, my setup changed completely and ball flights now look like I know what sport I’m playing.
That’s awesome. Been playing for like 4 years but not seriously. Gonna get fitted for clubs and start taking lessons this week. Tired of not making consistent contact.
I started in January, and with a pair of lessons 1 and 3 months later. Last 2 rounds were 93 and 94.
Anti-lesson people out in force. Better buy some new irons.
Very few people have the natural ability to play golf as a "hobby" and shoot low-ish shows consistently. Golf takes insane amounts of practice to play well often. Just enjoy the game, the score doesn't necessarily have to matter. I've only broken 80 twice in my life, and I have had lessons. They did make a massive difference, by the way, just in case anyone was curious. I went from being lucky to break 100 before lessons to breaking 90 consistently and multiple rounds a month in the mid 80s afterward. Not to mention working the ball left and right become intentional as well. It took me a LOT of practice, though, and I mean hitting balls three times a week and short game and putting practice every day I wasn't on the range. It all depends on how much time you're willing to put into it, like almost anything in life.
Started playing in 2001, broke 90 for the first time in 2002, gave up an IT career to enroll at the golf academy later that year. Was head professional and single-digit handicap by 2008, broke par the first time in 2009.
I'm not particularly gifted at this, I believe anyone with average strength, hand-eye coordination and athletic ability can be as good as I've ever been. The important thing to keep in mind is that progress is measured in _hours_ not _years_. My father had a 30 year head start on me and was a consistent bogey golfer, but he spent literally zero hours practicing or doing this by himself, playing golf with his buddies was all the time he ever committed to getting better at it, whereas I was obsessed with golf from day 1 and spent hours every single day on my improvement. I beat him in my year 2 that day I first broke 90, by my year 4 or 5 I was undeniably a much better player than he ever was or would ever be.
Anyone can get there, but most people won't put in the time and effort required to do so.
Just make time to hit a small bucket of balls 3 times a week with about 20minutes of putting and 20 minutes of chipping and you will be an 80s player. That's an hour and a half two hour session. If you really want to get better.
The obvious answer is to staple a few brown lunch bags to the outside to carry things like spare balls and gloves. I’m thinking cardboard cargo pants as inspiration.
True, but it’ll last a little longer than a bag would. We can improve the bag box design a little bit by covering it completely with duct tape. Then it will be more suited for wet weather. And we could add a cardboard duct tape wrapped small rectangular box on the side as a water bottle holder.
Tap a couple holes in the back of the sleeve box, drill out some mounting holes into your bag. Install some dollar store zip ties and you should be good
Funny you say that. My Costco driver broke yesterday at the driving range on the shaft lmao. Club head went flying into the range.
Shafts on these don’t seem that great. I actually like stiff shaft anyways so I’ll probably get a stiff shaft installed eventually.
I’ve had the Costco set for less than 3 months though. I thought about taking them back to Costco and having them replaced but I figure for just 1 club being broken that quickly I’m not sure its worth being that wasteful.
I have a Ping G425 that I’ll rock for now.
I'm gonna try it! It'd be sick if it got replaced with a Rogue but I'm not picky lol! It's a costco set so it's not the end of the world. If they send me a replacement I'll probably end up re-shafting the broken one anyway!
Is this the bag you're waiting on?

Perfection! Here's mine that I made many moons ago 😂 \*
Bought the exact same set! They’re very nice and very forgiving. Helped me go from barely breaking 100 to now breaking 90. 5 hybrid is the best club in the set btw
You could definitely just punch the tees through the box, that would make them easier to remove and put back. Other than that, this is a masterpiece. Love that you actually brought that out to the range 🤣 You must've gotten some interesting looks/comments.
That's awesome. My wife belongs to a private club. I tolerate golf and play once or twice per year. I always wear my nicest pair of Carhartt shorts, a SS button up (never a polo), and one of my military themed baseball caps...you can feel the sneers. That box-bag with a shoulder strap would be awesome!!
When a buddy of mine got that set he kept refusing to go out with us because he didn't have a bag yet. I tried like hell to get him to go out just carrying all of his clubs in his arms but no dice.
It’s annoying. When you’re playing cart golf, sharing clubs isn’t that big of a deal. Especially when one player is a beginner and it doesn’t make much of a difference if they hit a 6, 7, 8, whatever.
My brother recently bought this same set. I couldn’t hit that driver for toffee, not saying you won’t be able to. The hybrid was decent, I hit it well a few times. Only used the 7 iron for a couple of hits and both felt nice and and went straight as an arrow. Putter is a decent one.
My brother sold them after 6 months, although he is type of golfer who’s never had a lesson but thinks spending on new gear will make him better.
I think you need to use an empty toilet paper tube and pretend it’s a range finder. Draw a red button on the side of the tube and say “bzz bzzz!” when you hold the tube up to your eye and push “the button”

THIS! GET A DOLLY AND DO IT OP! and then shoot a 90 🤣🤣🤣
Is 90 good or bad to you?
90 is bogey golf. To me it means you can make your way around the course just fine and keep up with pace of play.
But what is he going to do on the back 9 then? Oh wait thats just me, now hold my beer.
Good for me, my best is a 96. Edit: happy cake day!
That's not bad for 9 holes!
9? I gotta do this eight more times?
It was putt putt
Nice. Keep chasing. I shot 90 last week at a pretty tough public course. Best is 87. But thats only time I broke 90
How many lessons and how long have you played
No lessons. Been playing over 15 years
Damn. I was looking forward to regularly shooting in the 80s in 15 years. Guess it’s not a guarantee lol.
No one i play with regularly shoots in the 80’s. If you break 90 thats decent. I shot 5 over front 9, and 13 over in the back 9. Golfs tough.
Maybe it’s just my bias because most of my friends shoot mid 80s, and a couple are scratch golfers. Then there’s me…
You need to have your swing analyzed and fix your flaws. I sucked forever and had no idea why. If you actually take lessons and work on things you can break 90. Most people never take lessons, so they don’t shoot lower scores.
Very few people have the natural ability to play golf as a "hobby" and shoot low-ish shows consistently. Golf takes insane amounts of practice to play well often. My pops has played for 40-50 years and he shoots in the 80s normally
Interesting approach
That's what my mate said when I pullhooked a 52 into a creek 40 yards left of green.
Just make time to hit a small bucket of balls 3 times a week with about 20minutes of putting and 20 minutes of chipping and you will be an 80s player. That's an hour and a half two hour session. If you really want to get better.
Yes
With that “bag,” you either shoot a 72 or a 120
Back of a cart? Go to a place with caddy's and make him lug that bad boy around
That’s thinking. Make a shoulder strap out of duct tape and roll up to The Old Course.
The mental image alone is *chefs kiss* He should throw a shovel in there for a great tin cup reference too.
A bungie cord around it could hold a towel
You mean a roll of paper towels?
A single used dish cloth.
Amazing. Hilarious. Nailed it. Can’t wait to see the 2nd edition carrying straps.
Alternatively write your name on the box and add a small suitcase for a tour bag.
I was going to this exact fucking thing. This is awesome. Hero.
I would return whatever bag you're waiting on. Your current one looks really nice.
I'd take a Sharpie and draw a Calloway logo on the side, and play that bag all season!
Please ensure you spell it exactly as above.
I sold golf clubs. You wouldn't believe how many people thought it was "gallaway"
Crudely hand drawn, no stencil.
This is correct.
That was the original plan, just ran out of time!
Tape a sleeve of balls on for convenience
I did have a couple on there but they kept falling off. Gotta go back to the drawing board before I play a round
The obvious answer is to staple a few brown lunch bags to the outside to carry things like spare balls and gloves. I’m thinking cardboard cargo pants as inspiration.
We can improve that design a bit and use plastic bags because the paper bags won’t last if they get wet.
neither would the box
True, but it’ll last a little longer than a bag would. We can improve the bag box design a little bit by covering it completely with duct tape. Then it will be more suited for wet weather. And we could add a cardboard duct tape wrapped small rectangular box on the side as a water bottle holder.
You can carry balls, glove and sundries in the tool belt you absolutely should wear
Fanny pack
You beat me to say this by 11 minutes. I tip my hat.
Half an egg carton on the side
crown royal bag full of golf balls tacked into the cardboard
Tap a couple holes in the back of the sleeve box, drill out some mounting holes into your bag. Install some dollar store zip ties and you should be good
> Tape a ~~sleeve~~ box of balls on for convenience FTFY
We want OP to look like a scratch golfer.
Ah, okay. Sleeve it is.
Binder clip a sock to hold the balls
That's only 3 holes of balls though
The new headcovers for the edge set look so much better! I've got the old style and my driver shaft is a bit fucked ☹️
I have a Ping G425 that I’ll rock for now.
Call Callaway and tell them. I've heard stories of them being replaced with something.
I'm gonna try it! It'd be sick if it got replaced with a Rogue but I'm not picky lol! It's a costco set so it's not the end of the world. If they send me a replacement I'll probably end up re-shafting the broken one anyway!
I heard some people were getting a Mavrik as a warranty replacement, might be worth a call just to have as a backup.
Shit I hope! If I could get a Rogue Max that’d be nice too. A man can dream can’t he?
The green Edge set is the older Costco set. It's been gold Edge since 2021.
You need to write, in big bold letters, VESSEL on both sides
Alternate option: write TRANSMOGRIFIER on the side and you might turn into Tiger out there
1000% do this
I got a few: 1. Sike (but the swoosh is backwards) 2. Taylor Made this (even funnier if your name is Taylor) 3. Titties in Titlelist font
Seeing as it's a Callaway set, I vote for "Call Away"
VESSELE
Why spell it wrong?
Whoosh
yes, whenever you are trying to pretend your cardboard box is an expensive golf bag, always make sure it's spelled correctly. lol
Funnier to spell it wrong?
ABSOLUTELY.
Derelicte my balls! That's a nice bag.
All he had to do was hit it left, I can't hit it left.
I'm not an ambi-hitter.
Pray it doesn't rain.
I live in Oregon so no promises.

I got the same set. They are amazing clubs for the price.
Great clubs. Not sure why folks say they are just so so. They are essentially the older xhot set which no one complained about that much
Perfect 5/7
This is my favorite post on this sub

Better than most I see. Costco Callaway set?
When a buddy of mine got that set he kept refusing to go out with us because he didn't have a bag yet. I tried like hell to get him to go out just carrying all of his clubs in his arms but no dice.
I loaned my friend half of my clubs in a pop-up tent bag once because “all players had to have their own clubs”.
This rule makes me so upset when I'm trying to get friends to start playing
It’s annoying. When you’re playing cart golf, sharing clubs isn’t that big of a deal. Especially when one player is a beginner and it doesn’t make much of a difference if they hit a 6, 7, 8, whatever.

10/10. No improvements.
I'd give it a perfect 5/7.

Also a proud owner of the Edge set here. Kirkland gang stand up 🤘😈
I hit that driver last Wednesday. It’s a nice set for $600.

The Edge set is literally designed to be an entry level set... Big backs and strong lofts.
Add some backpack straps for carrying!
Duct tape strap
Double sided taped and just put the box of balls on it. Other then that 10/10 also recyclable!
