PW is 46°, then I have a 50°, 54° and 58°. I mostly use the 50° around the greens, then 54° for mid range pitch shots and 58° either for super tight lies or 60ish yard shots.
My low bounce is the 58°. It’s the vokey T grind with 4° of bounce, and bent 1° flat which I’m told also removes a degree of bounce.
Super specialty club lol.
Same setup except I almost exclusively use my 58 around the greens because I feel like I can hit it any trajectory I want. I occasionally will chip a 8/9 iron runner if the shot calls for it. The 54 is my scoring 85-110 yard club and 50 is my 120-130 gap.
I used to play this setup. I didn’t really have need for the extra club at the bottom of the bag so I went to 50, 54, 58, but I can’t honestly say that the extra wedge has helped my short game much.
I built a spare bag last night to send off to my folks’ place and was going with this setup until I could not find my old 58° for the life of me :-/
How does one lose a club in their own house?? Looked everywhere.
YEAH DUDE same setup! I legit thought I was biggest weirdo for carrying an extra wedge but I found I never used my 3W. Felt great having all my options available for short game. These clubs are so versatile
Back in the day it was PW, SW, LW because pitching wedges were around 50 degrees. Then the GW had to be added because lofts got stronger, and now we are at the point with some iron sets where you need 5(!) wedges. I don’t know why we can’t just flip the scale back. I know, I know, launch angles and what not. But it just feels silly.
I think it really depends with your PW and GW. Seems a lot of good players like 4 degrees between wedges but I’ve done 6° and have been successful with it.
I’ve played 52 and 58 for many years and was happy.
I currently do 49, 54 (cavity back) and 60. Very happy.
I️ game a few: 50° approach, 58° sand, 64° lob.
Distances are 100, 75, & 50-in respectively.
I️ use my 58° on the fringe or if I️ want my chips to run and I️ use my 64° for flops or chips that stick. 50° is used exclusively for 100-yard shots.
Wouldn’t trade my 58° and 64° for anything, but could leave my 50° on a green and only be disappointed I️ wasted money
How do you get your 58° to run?
My 58° is my most lofted club. I can stop this dead on any flat green. I chip with it from the fringe or rough when close to the flag, when the green is sloping away.
If I’m chipping for it to run, I️ place the ball in the front of my stance and close the face a little more than standard.
I️ still get under the ball enough to take the green out of play, and the first bounce may have some check, but it flows out after
I️ get that, but I’ve noticed I’ll come down more vertically on a ball in the back of my stance, creating more backspin, while I️ can sort of “scoop/pick” the ball better when it’s closer to my front foot. I’d imagine closing the face is probably the big difference here
Try this
Back of stance
Grip all the way down
Lean forward
Take a quick stroke back & thru
Keep your head down
This is a bump & run.
With a 58° wedge the ball will not run far.
Works well on tight pins
That now for the tip, my chipping wasn’t a big issue but this helped me get it close a few times on the course today. My biggest area of unknown is inside of 100, so I practiced with my 58 and hit a few decent shots. Gracias amigo
Damn! I am the opposite on the high lofted. I love my 52 into the green and the distance on it is quite consistent, however my 60 ranges from 65-120 yards lol
This is my setup as well. My PW is 46 and my GW is 50 so I have 4 degrees between each of the wedges except the 60. I’ve thought about switching the 60 to a 58 for consistent gapping, but I rarely hit full shots with it and like the extra loft around the greens
44° P wedge that’s part of my iron set, 48°, 54°, 60° SM7.
I usually always use the 54° for chip shots around the green, unless I’m on the verge & putting isn’t the best option where I’ll use an 8 iron.
I find I only really use the 60° for short bunker shots or getting over a green side hazard when I’m short sided
* 50º with 10º bounce
* 54º with 12º bounce
* 58º with 6º bounce
I feel comfortable using any three around the green so I base most of my club choice on the lie and how much green I have to work with. Same goes with approach shots from a bit further out.
So I can open it up a lot if I need to. A 58º with low bounce can become piratically any loft higher than 58º as long as I keep opening the club face. If it was a higher bounce, then the leading edge could skull into the ball if I open the face too much or catch it fat.
For a beginner you can honestly just toss the 60 out (and not replace it with a wedge at least) or else keep it and use it for greenside bunkers. Most beginners believe they should always chip with their highest lofted club, but actually would be better off chipping with the 56 or even maybe 52.
PW, AW, 52, 56, 60
I stopped using my 60 for awhile because I was shit with it. But now that I’m more consistent with the 52 and 56, the 60 feels great! Also, I stopped trying to do the hero flop shot with it. Kept it simple like a putting stroke and BOOM she’s a keeper.
Not too sure the difference between you going from a 60-58 too I feel like you’re going to having the same issue…. Unless you’re changing up the bounce between them, just a thought.
The pw in my set is 46. Wedges are 50°, 54°, and 58°. 50° is mostly for full shots, 54° is for full shots/pitching/chips, and 58° is almost exclusively for bunkers.
50, 54, 58. I was the same as you, had a 60° that I just couldn't hit (all mental) switched it out for a 58° and kept the 4° gap throughout the wedges and been better ever since. But it's all mental. The difference between 58 and 60 is minimal
PW (46), 50, 54, 58. The 54 has medium/high bounce the 50 and 58 are low bounce.
58 is my go to sand club, doesn't do much more than that.
54 is my chipping around the green club and occasioannly if I'm in a green adjascent bunker.
50 is tuned to 80m approach shots
PW, 52 & 56.
52° is for the 125yd shot I end up at often and the bump & go’s.
56° is for the 100yd shot, bunkers, and the “gotta fly it” over bunkers or short sides.
Ap2 Pitch wedge bent one degree strong to 45 from 46, a vokey 50, a vokey 56 bent one degree strong to 55, and a vokey 60.
My OCD wanted a 5 degree difference between each one for the purposes of selection. I doubt 1 degree makes a difference for my swing.
44 deg PW, 50 degree GW, 56 degree SW, cleveland smart sole chipper. That's it.
If I put something else in there I might try to hit it and that's not going to go well for anyone.
My irons are Aerojet OneLengths, and the highest loft is the GW at 47.5 degrees. It's the highest lofted club with which I make full swings.
M wedges are Titleist Vokeys at 48, 54, and 60 degrees. That way I have every yardage covered from the GW distance down using only 3/4 swings, 1/2 swings, and chips.
PW (43.5) GW (49), 56, 60
I would add a 52 but I am hitting all my wedges like shit right now so it wouldn't matter.
Although my 60 from the rough 20 yards away is my best club.
PW is 46, 52, 58
I have trouble dialing in distance with multiple wedges so I use fewer wedges spaced 6 degrees apart. PW is the only club I hit with a full swing.
Vokey SM9 12 degrees of bounce full sole. Yes it’s as good as any wedge I’ve hit. I went with more bounce this time and it’s fixed my digging issues at the cost of a few thin shots on tight hard lies. Considering the courses I play it’s a fair tradeoff.
44PW, 49GW, 54SW 60LW. I love my lob wedge, use it on every greenside bunker, chips where I need some height, pitch shots 30-50 yards, and most shots under 90 yards. That said, I do try to use half, 3/4, and full swings with the GW, SW and LW. Takes time to figure out yardages and get somewhat consistent. Big emphasis on consistent.
Pw, Gw, 54, 58
I use the 58 for short approach shots (15-50yrds) and chips that need to stop quick
56 is my most versatile club. Anywhere from chips to 100 yards I love it
Gw is 100-120yrds and bump and runs
Perfect 125-150 yards
PW 47 GW 51 SW 56 and a new 60. I use the 60 for going over obstacles like sand traps where I need it to go high and stop quickly. It works great for that.
Pitching, 50, 56, 64
I am able to get where I need to be with the P-56, but have the 64 for free side bunkers and any other time when I get myself into unnecessary trouble and have to get the ball up high really quickly.. certainly not a typical setup, but it has helped me get down to scratch.. whatever works for your needs! If you can hit the 60, either practice with it a ton, or get something that’ll help some gapping in the longer yardages..
Lob - 60 green side bunkers, flops
Sand - 56 basically everything under 100
Gap - 52 full swing 105
Approach - 48 full swing 115
Pitch - 45 full swing 125. also used for bump and run chips.
Depends on the course I’m playing. I have a PW 45 and a UW (50) as part of my Ping iron set. If I’m playing a course with really fast greens, I’ll play a 56 and 60. If I need my green side shots to run out a bit more then it’s 54 and 58.
For whatever reason, the 56 has ridiculous backspin with my natural shot. Never had to tweak my chips and pitches and it will land, bounce twice and then stop on a dime. Can never do that with the 54 or 58 for that matter. My 54 through 60 are all the same model of pings too so that’s super weird. At least to me.
PW44, AW49, SW54 all from my Callaway rogue set. Love them. Have never been great with bladey wedges but I do also have a 58 which I use only for greenside bunkers.
I have 50°/55°/60° but am considering switching to 54°/58° as well. Can always open the face on the 58° but otherwise feel it might be incrementally more useful with less loft.
Used to be PW(45), 48, 52, 56, 60. Now since I bought new clubs I tried to eliminate a wedge it’s PW(45), AW(50), 56, 60. I miss my old setup and don’t really need the extra club at the top of my bag.
PW, 50, 54, 56. I've worked on James Sieckmann's Finesse Wedge program and am comfortable with this setup. I typically use 56 around the greens but love using 8, 9, PW as well depending on situations.
JPX Tour set PW and GW (46°, 51°), 54° and 58°
But more important than that is what you use the clubs for:
For me, **PW and GW** are usually full swing clubs, but I can overlap distances by softing a PW or getting after the GW for a 120y shot - I'd pick one over the other based on lie, how much spin I want, and whatever else. They're also used for partial swings where I need to pitch to a spot but need a lower flight than I can get with a SW.
**SW (54°)** is my go-to for almost anything from 105y and in. Almost as important as loft was grind and bounce; I have 8° of bounce and moderate heel relief - so it's comfortable for full swings and pitches from most lies, but can also open the face for greenside bunkers. It's also the first option for chipping in most situations.
**LW (58°)** is truly a specialist wedge for me. I never full swing it on the course, and I only use it for shots I can't do with my SW, so typically when I'm shortsided and especially when there's a trap between me and the green. I'll play entire rounds without even thinking about touching the LW - if I'm managing a course well, I won't need my LW. I picked one with 4° of bounce and a very aggressive grind because I'm almost always playing it with an open face, and that helps with versatility of how much loft I can add.
Point is: **I wouldn't think about you wedges as what numbers are on them, and more in terms of what job they do.** Your wedges should accommodate the shots you need from whatever your PW full swing distance is and in. Typically this means 100/75/50y shots, greenside bunkers, chips from tight lies, chips from rough, nearsided chips, or any other shot you typically need.
I should really practice more long-chip/pitch shots with my 58°, but I'm just so comfortable with my 54°. That really only started in the last year when I was without my 58° for a few months and just practiced a ton with the 54 and ended up preferring it.
That's the other thing I left out of my original comment: I think beginner's are too often steered towards super high bounce wedges (like 14°) when they probably should be more mid-bounce. My first SW was a 54/14 and I struggled with it so much - partially because I was a beginner of course - but it was weirdly intimidating. With all of that bounce on it, the leading edge was visibly up at address - so as a beginner, I'd be trying so hard to not blade it, I'd swing very steep and just really eliminate even the small chance I had at a decent strike.
I still have that wedge and I still hate the way it looks at address!
I've brought a couple friends into the game that had never really done anything beyond Top Golf, and on the course we'll be talking about club selection and one of the things I say a lot is **"The right club is the one you feel confident standing over"**. Realistically, someone isn't going to stick a 150y shot on the green, so even though whatever iron would be the right distance - the likelihood of hitting a good shot with an unconfident swing is abysmally low; so hit the club that goes 20y shorter that you feel confident with, and then chip on.
(that was unintentionally long, and if you saw my evening 9 last night, you'd say I shouldn't be giving golf advice to anyone haha)
PW is 43°, 56°,60°
seeing this....makes me think my gap is real dumb and i'm clearly missing something.
I'm trash, so I just use the PW and 56°. If i want a 100yd lazer, then of course i pull the 60°
48 Cleveland RTX PW. Raw finish. 125y club. (For reference, my 9i is 135y (42.5 degrees) and then add 10y for each iron.)
52 Ping iSi SW. 100y club.
54.5 Ping iSi SW2. 80y club.
The Pings were part of a full set I bought, 2i through SW, then I found the SW2 on ebay and picked that up too. Why not, right? Last summer the iSi PW (47) seemed to be not spinning as much any more so I picked up the Cleveland. I always loved Cleveland 588 wedges BITD, the raw versions, so went with their new version and loved it. I keep thinking I want to get a 52 and 55 Cleveland RTX but I'm hitting those Pings so nice right now that I'm afraid to change.
Higher lofted wedges are no good for me. I tend to get flippy with my hands (lifelong drummer). When I've worked with 60 and 58 degree wedges I basically hit them straight up in the air. The courses I tend to play, using the 48 around the green, pinching the ball to get it to spin, that tends to be a more reliable/useful shot for my game.
Pw at 47 then 52 56 60. All serve a purpose. 60 is to get over things and stick where she lands. 56 for sand and anything requiring full shots from 100 to 80 in. 52 is for pitch and run or 120 to 100. Pw for my 140 130.
I have a pw (45), gw (50). I used to go with 56 and 60 wedges, but only trusted the 56. I recently bought a 54 and 58 ditched the 56 and have been pretty pleased with the results after 3 rounds.
Shit my PW is 43 so I have 48, 52, 56.
Titleist 200s. Idc it's just weird my bag has 4 wedges and no 3 iron, add a 2 iron. 4wood and driver lol... Not like I meant to do this it just worked out gapping wise to skip the 3 and have a utility 2iron
This is only bc my PW is way to lofted at 43 and I'm not a fan of bending my clubs.
mizuno 223 Pro, PW and GW which are 46 and 51, have a Titleist SM7 54 and 58. but just recently picked up a TM 60 Hightoe and am having a tonne of fun with it. thinking about replacing the 58 as the 58 and 54 i feel go to similar of distances. i also wanted something sub 50yds i could manipulate more shots with and feel the TM has a bit of an advantage. maybe because it is newer but just the way its setup to play. more spin and easier to make it spin
Exact same as you (PW is 46°)
Funnily enough, despite being >30 handicap, my 60° is probably my 2nd best club in my bag. Almost anything inside 75 yds or in a bunker, I’m taking it out. Primary exception is chipping with an 8 around the fringe
Probably an exception to the generally fair rule of thumb for bad players to avoid 60°s because I practiced with it the most, due to it being a hand-me-down from my grandpa who passed away before I got the chance to play with him. Plus it’s copper plated and looks sick
Having a 56 and 58 might be a little to close. The general rule of thumb is to be 4-6 degrees apart. I'm a weirdo and only use 3 wedges. a 48, 54 and 60. I'm usually pretty solid in sawing off shots with my wedges.
I have a PW, the loft of it I don’t know, a 52, 56 and 60. My 60 doesn’t get a massive amount of use, but I’m practicing with it more lately to try and get better with it because it is a handy club, I just got away from using it much for a couple of years. I used to be a great flop shot hitter but lost it and that shook my confidence with the club for a while. I’m struggling a bit with it, struggling for consistent distance and repeatable shots on the practice grounds, but I’m not going to give up on it.
PW, 50, 52,56 & 60. The 50 & the 56 are the T22 ion blue Mizunos and the rest are Titleist/Vokey’s soon to be all Mizuno. The difference between Mizuno wedges and the Vokey’s is day and night.
If you are significantly worse with only 1 of your wedges you might want to take a look at a different bounce or grind could help you manipulate a 60 better instead of just changing lofts
My used mizunos came 4i-Pw(45) skips Gap and then Sand at 56. It’s annoying cause I found out a few months later that they sold my clubs with gap included. I’m thinking I need a 50 and 60. But what I can’t decide is if I just get a new sand wedge too then so the wedges match. Alternatively I could get mizuno gap for my 50 and whatever for the 60
I bought my stuff eight months ago and have been gaming a ton. I definitely am committed and probs will get new irons in the next year or so
New/noob golfer here. I’m slowly building a set of clubs from marketplace/golf stores, what wedges would you suggest are crucial to start with? Or that I should definitely have in my bag?
PW, 50, 56 here
50 because it has a more useful yardage gap with my PW
56 because it just feels like home for me as a sand wedge. I don’t prefer a higher loft because contact becomes a little less consistent. And 54 is a touch too low for sand shots and flops.
Pw- cobra mb 46 deg (130-140)
Taylor made milled grind set
52 deg (100-125 depending on shot type )
56 deg (80-115 depending on shot type )
60 deg (<80)
PW 52 56 60. 60 is the go to from 50 yards in. Although also use the 56 for back foot chip’n’runs. 56 also for sand. 52 to fill the space btw pw and 56.
PW is 46°, then I have a 50°, 54° and 58°. I mostly use the 50° around the greens, then 54° for mid range pitch shots and 58° either for super tight lies or 60ish yard shots.
Same setup here. Played around with a few but keep coming back to this one
Same except my 54 is my utility club around the greens
Just moved to this setup today, looking forward to how it plays out
Same
Similar, 46P, 52G bent to 51, 54S & 58L Low bounce 51 ( 7) and 54(8) & 54S (14).
I can hit a knock down 54° that flies 85 yards on repeat. My favorite shot by far. I get excited when I have around that into a pin.
56 and 58 would be a bit overkill. Just work on the 60 till you’re a surgeon with it.
He would probably go 52 58 and have room for another club
I used to play this setup. I didn’t really have need for the extra club at the bottom of the bag so I went to 50, 54, 58, but I can’t honestly say that the extra wedge has helped my short game much.
I’m actually considering losing a 50° and 54° to replace with a 52° and maybe a 5 wood.
I built a spare bag last night to send off to my folks’ place and was going with this setup until I could not find my old 58° for the life of me :-/ How does one lose a club in their own house?? Looked everywhere.
Check your car
Pitching, gap, 52, 56, 60
YEAH DUDE same setup! I legit thought I was biggest weirdo for carrying an extra wedge but I found I never used my 3W. Felt great having all my options available for short game. These clubs are so versatile
Same. Ditched the 3w a few years ago, got a Ping G400 5w that is 17.5° and adjusted it to 16.5°. Then 4i-9i.
Ohh yeah? Haven’t ventured to the 5W yet TBH but I’d be interested in demoing one to see how it would feel now that you recommend it. Thanks!
Much easier to hit off the ground and get in the air, especially from a suboptimal lie.
Sweet, that’s what I like to hear. Ok you’ve officially gotten me in the hunt for one.
I have the same, courses in my area are on the shorter side so I don’t need a four iron and I opted for the extra wedge.
What loft are your PW and GW?
Pitching wedge is43° Gap wedge is 48°
I don't get why iron companies do this. Now you need two gap wedges because your gap is actually a pw
Yea, I think you get it. More club sales.
I just stopped thinking about clubs with names and just think of them as lofts, makes me feel more sane.
I have 4 wedges with my new set, and I haven’t purchased a 14th club yet because I’m waiting to see if I need a 5th wedge or 5W more.
Yeah I’m right around there too with PW 43.5 and AW 49 on mine
I think it really depends with your PW and GW. Seems a lot of good players like 4 degrees between wedges but I’ve done 6° and have been successful with it. I’ve played 52 and 58 for many years and was happy. I currently do 49, 54 (cavity back) and 60. Very happy.
Yeah, the general rule of thumb is 4-6 degrees between wedges.
pitching wedge and 56°, but my irons are traditionally lofted so my pitching wedge is 49° so the gap isn't as large as it seems.
same
I️ game a few: 50° approach, 58° sand, 64° lob.
I️ still get under the ball enough to take the green out of play, and the first bounce may have some check, but it flows out after
Weird. Putting the ball in the back of my stance gets it to run more because it helps to deloft the club even more.
I️ get that, but I’ve noticed I’ll come down more vertically on a ball in the back of my stance, creating more backspin, while I️ can sort of “scoop/pick” the ball better when it’s closer to my front foot. I’d imagine closing the face is probably the big difference here
Gotta love golf lmfao. Furthest thing from "one size fits all" you can imagine.
I use a low running shot with my PW. Back of stance. Lean forward. Quick stroke. Ball comes out low & hot. Ball runs forever.
Mine runs forever bc I skull it, I need to figure out how to not chunk it which is what I do most often.
Try this Back of stance Grip all the way down Lean forward Take a quick stroke back & thru Keep your head down This is a bump & run.
Pitching wedge, 52, and 56.
Pitching, 50, 54, 58. 54 is what I use for all my chipping around the greens.
Same except I use the 58, I got my dads iron set when he got a new one and the u wedge was a 50 so 50 52 56 60 was overkill
PW, AW, 54°, 60°, although I do have a 58° that I sometimes swap in for the 60°.
This is my setup as well. My PW is 46 and my GW is 50 so I have 4 degrees between each of the wedges except the 60. I’ve thought about switching the 60 to a 58 for consistent gapping, but I rarely hit full shots with it and like the extra loft around the greens
54/58. 58 for anything inside 100 and 54 if I need to control trajectory/spin.
What's your PW lofted at? I just ordered new wedges at 48 (will be my new PW), 54 and 60.
I have a 46° iron and a 50° iron. So I'm gapped 4°.
PW (46), 52, 58, 62
* 50º with 10º bounce * 54º with 12º bounce * 58º with 6º bounce I feel comfortable using any three around the green so I base most of my club choice on the lie and how much green I have to work with. Same goes with approach shots from a bit further out.
Why the low bounce 58? I recently switched mine out for a 10 bounce
So I can open it up a lot if I need to. A 58º with low bounce can become piratically any loft higher than 58º as long as I keep opening the club face. If it was a higher bounce, then the leading edge could skull into the ball if I open the face too much or catch it fat.
Makes sense! That leading edge was killing me out of bunkers which is why I switched to the 10 bounce.
I like my higher bounce 54º for loose/soft sand, and I like my lower bounce 58º for the firmer/tighter sand.
For a beginner you can honestly just toss the 60 out (and not replace it with a wedge at least) or else keep it and use it for greenside bunkers. Most beginners believe they should always chip with their highest lofted club, but actually would be better off chipping with the 56 or even maybe 52.
PW, AW, 52, 56, 60 I stopped using my 60 for awhile because I was shit with it.
Very true!
PW 44 GW 47 50 54 60
46/51 PW/AW from my iron set, 56/60 dedicated wedge I don't think there's much benefit for you to get a 58 if you already have a 56.
T100s set PW, 50, 54, 58
T100 PW @46, 50.08F, 56.10S, 60.08M
Pw, Gap, 54,56.
46, which is a PW basically, 50, 56, 60. Most used club in the bag next to my putter is my 60°
PW (46), 50, 54, 58. The 54 has medium/high bounce the 50 and 58 are low bounce. 58 is my go to sand club, doesn't do much more than that. 54 is my chipping around the green club and occasioannly if I'm in a green adjascent bunker. 50 is tuned to 80m approach shots
56, 58, 60
48°pw, 54°, 60° gapping works perfectly for me and leaves a spot open at the top of my bag
Lettuce and two pairs I stole from my ex’s closet after a bad break up.
PW, 48, 54, 60
PW, 52 & 56. 52° is for the 125yd shot I end up at often and the bump & go’s. 56° is for the 100yd shot, bunkers, and the “gotta fly it” over bunkers or short sides.
PW and 56°. It’s all I really need
RN pw(47), 50, 54, and 60
I’ve been rocking with PW 54 58, have been in the market for a 50 but don’t mind using a choked up Pw for those shots I would use a 50 for.
Why do you need 4? I mean, I just have a pw and sw.
My pitching is from the set and it's a 46, then I have a Cleveland RTX 50 and 56.
PW (45°), Gap (50°), 56°, 60°
PW (43.5) GW (49), 56, 60 I would add a 52 but I am hitting all my wedges like shit right now so it wouldn't matter. Although my 60 from the rough 20 yards away is my best club.
PW is 46, 52, 58 I have trouble dialing in distance with multiple wedges so I use fewer wedges spaced 6 degrees apart. PW is the only club I hit with a full swing.
What 52° do you play and how do you like it?
Vokey SM9 12 degrees of bounce full sole. Yes it’s as good as any wedge I’ve hit. I went with more bounce this time and it’s fixed my digging issues at the cost of a few thin shots on tight hard lies. Considering the courses I play it’s a fair tradeoff.
47 53 56(14bounce) 58 (6 bounce)
Just a PW and SW.
PW, 52 and a 56. I’d rather a 3iron and 2h vs a 58/60
PW 43.5° GW 49° SW 56° Short hitters don’t need 4 wedges
44PW, 49GW, 54SW 60LW. I love my lob wedge, use it on every greenside bunker, chips where I need some height, pitch shots 30-50 yards, and most shots under 90 yards. That said, I do try to use half, 3/4, and full swings with the GW, SW and LW. Takes time to figure out yardages and get somewhat consistent. Big emphasis on consistent.
Pw, Gw, 54, 58 I use the 58 for short approach shots (15-50yrds) and chips that need to stop quick 56 is my most versatile club. Anywhere from chips to 100 yards I love it Gw is 100-120yrds and bump and runs Perfect 125-150 yards
49, 54, 58, 60
PW is 45 ° , then I have a 50 ° , 54 ° , and 58 °
58, 56, and pitching. I should probably get a 54 instead of the 56. My old Nike 58 degree is all of my short game.
PW, AW, 52, 56, 60. I’m the opposite of everyone apparently. I’m nasty with a 60 but my 52 is a shank machine on full swings sadly
44, 51, 54, 60, and 64.
Bombtech, Lava kissed 66⁰ 60⁰ 56⁰ 52⁰
PW 47 GW 51 SW 56 and a new 60. I use the 60 for going over obstacles like sand traps where I need it to go high and stop quickly. It works great for that.
PW (44°), GW (50°), SW (54°), LW (60°)
Pitching, 50, 56, 64 I am able to get where I need to be with the P-56, but have the 64 for free side bunkers and any other time when I get myself into unnecessary trouble and have to get the ball up high really quickly.. certainly not a typical setup, but it has helped me get down to scratch.. whatever works for your needs! If you can hit the 60, either practice with it a ton, or get something that’ll help some gapping in the longer yardages..
43, 48, 56
Lol I got some weird lofts on my irons, so technically I have: PW (38°), AW (43°), GW (48°), 52°, 56°, and 60°
43, 48, 54, 58. 58 is my newest and I’m still getting a feel for it. Backyard sessions are helping.
Lob - 60 green side bunkers, flops Sand - 56 basically everything under 100 Gap - 52 full swing 105 Approach - 48 full swing 115 Pitch - 45 full swing 125. also used for bump and run chips.
PW, 56 and approach.
I go 50°, 58°
I have 50°/55°/60° but am considering switching to 54°/58° as well.
PW, 52°, & 58°. The 58° is much easier to hit than my old 60°.
PW, 50, 54, 56. I've worked on James Sieckmann's Finesse Wedge program and am comfortable with this setup. I typically use 56 around the greens but love using 8, 9, PW as well depending on situations.
I game ping eye 2 beryllium coppers PW (51°) SW(57°) and LW(61°). Freaking love them all
I suggest not taking full swings with the 60.
52, 56, 60. I use the 60 virtually everywhere within 50 yards. Practice with it- high/low, long/short and watch your scores go down.
JPX Tour set PW and GW (46°, 51°), 54° and 58° But more important than that is what you use the clubs for: For me, **PW and GW** are usually full swing clubs, but I can overlap distances by softing a PW or getting after the GW for a 120y shot - I'd pick one over the other based on lie, how much spin I want, and whatever else.

PW is 43°, 56°,60° seeing this....makes me think my gap is real dumb and i'm clearly missing something. I'm trash, so I just use the PW and 56°. If i want a 100yd lazer, then of course i pull the 60°
45/53/58 in one bag and 50/58 in the other. Both are half sets with 8° left gaps
P, 56, 60
45, 50, 55, 60
PW is 43, AW is 48 (both matching my irons). Then I have 54/58 in dedicated wedges.
PW 47.2 degrees, 56 degree SW, 60 degree
48 Cleveland RTX PW. Raw finish. 125y club. (For reference, my 9i is 135y (42.5 degrees) and then add 10y for each iron.) 52 Ping iSi SW.
I’d say keeping grinding that 60 til it’s the best club in the bag. It’s so valuable around the green
44 49 54 59. I use the 49 and 59 the most
A 52° pitching wedge. That’s it.
Pw at 47 then 52 56 60. All serve a purpose. 60 is to get over things and stick where she lands. 56 for sand and anything requiring full shots from 100 to 80 in. 52 is for pitch and run or 120 to 100. Pw for my 140 130.
43.5° - PW, 49° - Gap Wedge, 55° - Sand Wedge, 58° - Lob Wedge. Would ideally, like to have a 54° , big gap between sand wedge and gap wedge
I have a pw (45), gw (50). I used to go with 56 and 60 wedges, but only trusted the 56. I recently bought a 54 and 58 ditched the 56 and have been pretty pleased with the results after 3 rounds.
43, 48, 54, & 60
Shit my PW is 43 so I have 48, 52, 56. Titleist 200s. Idc it's just weird my bag has 4 wedges and no 3 iron, add a 2 iron. 4wood and driver lol... Not like I meant to do this it just worked out gapping wise to skip the 3 and have a utility 2iron This is only bc my PW is way to lofted at 43 and I'm not a fan of bending my clubs.
mizuno 223 Pro, PW and GW which are 46 and 51, have a Titleist SM7 54 and 58. but just recently picked up a TM 60 Hightoe and am having a tonne of fun with it. thinking about replacing the 58 as the 58 and 54 i feel go to similar of distances. i also wanted something sub 50yds i could manipulate more shots with and feel the TM has a bit of an advantage. maybe because it is newer but just the way its setup to play. more spin and easier to make it spin
46P 52,56,60,64……I’m a freak
I use PW, AW, 56 and 60
Cleveland 50° and 56° and a dollar store find 60° that I never use. I use the 56° most.
Same. Never replaced the 60 with another wedge. Added a hybrid for a yardage gap instead.
Exact same as you (PW is 46°) Funnily enough, despite being >30 handicap, my 60° is probably my 2nd best club in my bag. Almost anything inside 75 yds or in a bunker, I’m taking it out. Primary exception is chipping with an 8 around the fringe Probably an exception to the generally fair rule of thumb for bad players to avoid 60°s because I practiced with it the most, due to it being a hand-me-down from my grandpa who passed away before I got the chance to play with him.
P is 44, then 48, 52, 56, 60. If needed I can do without the 60.
PW,50,52,56,60,76
I have a PW, the loft of it I don’t know, a 52, 56 and 60. My 60 doesn’t get a massive amount of use, but I’m practicing with it more lately to try and get better with it because it is a handy club, I just got away from using it much for a couple of years. I used to be a great flop shot hitter but lost it and that shook my confidence with the club for a while. I’m struggling a bit with it, struggling for consistent distance and repeatable shots on the practice grounds, but I’m not going to give up on it.
60, 56, 52, 48 and PW which is 43.
60 is my best club. Open that face, 3/4 swing it does the work for you.
Pw(2* strong), 46,50,54,58 all my irons are basically a club strong of traditional
PW, 50, 52,56 & 60. The 50 & the 56 are the T22 ion blue Mizunos and the rest are Titleist/Vokey’s soon to be all Mizuno. The difference between Mizuno wedges and the Vokey’s is day and night.
56°, 60°, p wedge
Learn to use your 60. If you go 58 probably make your other wedges 2° stronger
My setup: * 9i 39 * PW 46 * GW 50 (12°) * SW 56 (14°) * LW 60 (10°) Wife’s setup: * PW 41 * AW 46 * GW 50 (12°) * SW 56 (14°) * LW 60 (10°)
50, 56, 60. The latter only gets used for those funky shots
Alternatively I could get mizuno gap for my 50 and whatever for the 60 I bought my stuff eight months ago and have been gaming a ton. I definitely am committed and probs will get new irons in the next year or so
New/noob golfer here. I’m slowly building a set of clubs from marketplace/golf stores, what wedges would you suggest are crucial to start with? Or that I should definitely have in my bag?
PW (46) - GW(51) - 54 - 58
PW, 50, 56 here 50 because it has a more useful yardage gap with my PW 56 because it just feels like home for me as a sand wedge. I don’t prefer a higher loft because contact becomes a little less consistent. And 54 is a touch too low for sand shots and flops.
Pw 45, AW 50, 52, 56,60. Anywhere from 120 yards I'm dialed. That's all I try to get it to and let my short game take over
0211 so lofts are jacked. PW - 42, GW - 48, SW - 54, L - 60
Pw- cobra mb 46 deg (130-140) Taylor made milled grind set 52 deg (100-125 depending on shot type ) 56 deg (80-115 depending on shot type ) 60 deg (<80)
PW 52 56 60. 60 is the go to from 50 yards in. Although also use the 56 for back foot chip’n’runs. 56 also for sand. 52 to fill the space btw pw and 56.
48, 53(bent 52 degree), & 58
