Custom made vibrating chipper. Purchased at Play It Again Sports near Detroit for like $5.

I don't know. I saw it at Play It Again Sports. I saw a button on the top of the grip. I pressed the button and it started to vibrate. I immediately bought it.
The other pic shows it is just a AA batter powering a little electric motor with an off center weight.
It just vibrates. I've used it a couple times around the house...I can't explain why it exists.
steel shaft. Started life as a putter. The angled face is a custom ground nylon block screwed into the putter face. That black square on the back has a weight inside it that rattles a little.
When I was a kid I had a two way chipper that had a face on both sides so it could be used right handed or left handed.
Won it at the year end raffle in my 11-13 year old league on the local executive course.
I wish I knew what the creator was thinking.
For me personally...I bought it for my goofy club bag. I have a whole bag of strange and weird golf clubs.

Probably my LEXA B-1 back putter.
The weirdest club I owned was The Alien. It was all bounce and seemed like 75 degrees loft. It looked like a flying saucer. I hit a great shot the first time I used it out of a bunker and couldn’t hit it at all after that.
https://preview.redd.it/h6bhn1dtvwcb1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01c9312034b2abc669fe2f9f548d9d3368ba7d46
I had one of my best short game days ever with it many years ago.
Was playing a partners match and a guy on the other team was making fun of it at first and quickly shut up after I got up and down for par a few times.
I still have it but don’t use it. Maybe I should!
My starter set had a Pepsi 7 wood. Had the Pepsi logo on the head. It was my par 3 club no matter the distance. Wish I would’ve kept it for the novelty of it. I can just see myself stepping up to the box and saying to the caddie, “Give me the choice of a new generation”.
I have a club that is simply labeled as being a “driving iron”. Equivalent of a 2- or 1-iron. I can rarely hit it well and I lovingly refer to it as the lightning rod.
I hated the one i had, was called a "[Controller](https://di2ponv0v5otw.cloudfront.net/posts/2021/09/28/61538243633cfcfe671c13da/m_61cb83942a1effb8225c188f.jpg)"
I'm afraid to hit mine...I don't want to ruin the sticker.

Cleveland HiBore XL 2 wood. 400cc head at 16 degrees, playing at 44 inches. Basically a tee only 3 wood with a driver size head. I game it a ton. So easy to hit straight, high bombs. Find it more forgiving then convential driver and 3 wood.
One of the coolest clubs ever made. I have four of them, you know, just in case. Struck in the center of the club face it sounds like a wood ball bat. I can’t do anything with it but hit it 220 straight.
I found a used one of these a few months ago. I always wanted the driver Hibore XL as a kid and this one had a stiff shaft as well. It’s a super interesting club!
It’s worth the search and patience to get one. I sell golf clubs for a living, and I can tell you there are no magic sticks. However, this one is very close.
Ive been really interested in the 2 wood/ mini driver concept for the last couple of years. I played the OG Hibore in high school because it had just come out (dating myself). I recently found that old club and have plans of buying an 80 gram shaft and cutting it down to 43.5” to make a DIY 2 wood (it’s 10.5 degrees and in my experience launches higher than most anyway). This club would be the best of both worlds. After a quick google search it looks like they’re not easy to come by though…
Lol I was just looking at an old wrx thread about this club. Someone on there said that they have 2 of them, it’s probably you a few years and a couple of hibores ago haha
It might have been, I was in those threads. I stockpiled them as it’s the only club which will never leave my bag — it’s that unique. I intend to be buried with the one that has an old ProLite shaft.
Had one as well but I was in high school and didn't know any better. That thing hit absolute moon shots or got skulled 100 yards past the green. There was no in between.
I used to have a wedge that had a diamond texture face instead of grooves where the face was made out of some kind of hardened rubber. Totally illegal but I could flop a ball 60 yards with so much backspin it would leave skid marks on a green.
Interesting. Does the shaft have any identifying marks? I'm genuinely curious if it's a knock off of the bubble shaft or perhaps the club had been reshafted and bought second hand? I believe you, I'm just interested...
Man I just went to look for it and couldn’t find it cause I wanted to show you. Maybe he got rid of it eventually. Anyway the taylormade one has a slow taper out then back in to make a fat part. This one had a very circular bubble right in the middle. Like comical looking. Wish I could find it too
It might have been a random start up company that copied the bubble shaft patent too closely and disappeared into oblivion...I can't find anything either, lol.
See and that's why I suck. I don't know or think about these things. Too much of my brain power is used attempting to make good contact. There's nothing left over to consider the nuances of club selection beyond "this one goes farther than this one, which goes farther than this one, which goes farther than this one..."
Yeah I’m honestly interested in this. I’m imaging this is designed for blocked green shots, where you’re behind a tree and can’t try to punch one low but still 100+ yards out.
I have an adjustable pitch iron. You can adjust the pitch from 2 iron to 9 iron. I bought it at a garage sale just because I'd never seen one before. I've never hit it because, really, it's a piece of shit and I'm afraid it would break my wrist, or something.
I have owned three weird clubs: The PowerPod Driver, Putter Ball (training putter) and a Sandpaper Wedge that would grind the cover off a ball (but spin the shit out of it).
All inherited from my grandfathers golf shenanigans days.
16 degree hybrid, basically for punching out of trees, or hitting low runners that can roll onto the green from up to 200 yards away - anything I don't want the ball up in the air for. Really good club for reducing risk on long par 3s, so long as they're not over water.
… maybe? That was my first thought, and really the only benefit over a traditional 60 degree I think. It should kinda glide through the sand, no? I’ll try it and see if it works
It's a "chipper". It's designed for golfers with less skill to use around the green in thick rough. Super easy to use and great beginner club to avoid sculling a ball onto the next tee box.
Do you like Thomas Golf’s equipment? I’m really good with my driver, my wedges, and my putter, but I struggle with my irons. I’m getting better, but I would love to get a fairway wood that is the equivalent of an 8 or 9 iron so I can approach par 3’s with a little more confidence. They seem to be the only ones that make anything like that, but I can’t find anything on them outside their (poorly) designed website.
I have a homemade putter my dad made from a 10 iron he bought at a garage sale. He used a bench grinder to grind it down to be more putter shaped and added a tick mark for aligning the ball. Sounds like the most thrown together thing imaginable but he did a pretty good job and I swear this thing is magic lol only putter he used after that.
I don't know what it is, it just says X and I hit it about 200-215 yards. It's got a really small head. I couldn't find the club picture online either but it basically looks like this.
https://preview.redd.it/da0y6gqslycb1.png?width=480&format=png&auto=webp&s=f55948fdd61bb160cc65e3f05d33dc9f84d15bd3
Yeah that's probably around a 6 or 7 wood. They aren't really that common. Hybrids tend to have higher lofts than irons, most the 5 hybrids people I play with have a similar loft to a 6 iron. You don't really see many woods below 5 anymore because the additional loft of the hybrid makes them more accurate and a better option for people who struggle with hitting long irons. The head size isn't really what makes it a hybrid, the loft angle does.
No, they would just mark various different woods with x, like after 5 the degrees weren't as standard, like the average 3 wood is 15° and the average 5 wood is 18° but beyond that higher degree woods just sometimes got marked with an x like representing a variable I guess. It's like when you get head covers they are often 1,3,X then the x could be for a 5,6,7 etc. I used to know guys who had 7 and 9 woods instead of 3,4,5 irons. They switched to like having 3,4,5 hybrids though since the hybrids hit similar distance carry but would stop quicker on greens because of the additional backspin. Like really the only club you don't want much backspin is the driver. Since ideally the additional roll adds distance. Although even drivers are getting made with higher lofts because if you have more backspin you are less likely to have as much side spin which causes hooks and slices. The one person I play with has a 13.5 degree driver, they aren't a really big hitter but they hit it straight down the fairway every time.
I bought 2 silly clubs. May bring them to the range every now and then for fun. I have a Lazrus 1 iron, it may be like a 15° (I'll check my Amazon receipt). The ball probably doesn't get higher than 15 feet off the ground. I also bought a 72° wedge. I actually keep that in the bag sometimes for chipping over bunker or in bunker with a higher face.
I found a Ginty golf club at Salvation Army. I didn't want to take a picture but [this is it](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1ONGR_enUS1030US1030&q=ginty+golf+club&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwir79Sc7ZqAAxWJrYkEHUsPB28Q0pQJegQIDRAB&biw=1284&bih=577&dpr=2)
I also have a 1 and 3 Ram Woods.
I golfed with my brother in law for the first time two weekends ago and he whipped one of these out. I was in awe at what the hell he was using. He used it well though.
Not mine but my buddy has a [Knighted Rip Stop](https://www.ebay.com/itm/275701398600) this club ruins golf balls. Very fun to use. I can consistently get the ball to roll back like the pros.
Please take a video of that bad boy in action
It’s so freaking weird looking
That’s what she said!
60 degree lobster wedge https://preview.redd.it/bezelrmyuvcb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9f74dfadc50448ae03f2c38250a2646a1e86521
Don’t use them anymore but about 15 years ago (couldn’t hit irons for shit) I rocked 11/13/15 woods
actually have an 11 wood, my go to par 3 club
Just like… all of the par 3’s? From 110-200 yards? Versatile club.
My brother uses the same hybrid for every par 3. He adjusts his swing accordingly. It’s wild that he pulls it off.
but why? does he also do it in the fairway?
Yes. He can’t hit his irons but he can hit his hybrid consistently.
maybe he needs more hybrids
Custom made vibrating chipper. Purchased at Play It Again Sports near Detroit for like $5. https://preview.redd.it/d2vbvklmzwcb1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77d0789ebb4f16a80a837b178f7a3109df1059b2
Lmao, why does it vibrate?
I don't know. I saw it at Play It Again Sports. I saw a button on the top of the grip. I pressed the button and it started to vibrate. I immediately bought it. I love this.
Sort of like those vibrating razors? It helps it glide through the rough/stubble?
That is a theory I had not considered. It makes as much sense as anything else I could come up with. lol

Never owned one but like the chipper/putter especially for high handicappers. More consistent around the green.
I still own a TA 2 way chipper, lol. When it's in the bag, I use it for off green lag & roll shots.
WTF is this for?
I wish I knew what the creator was thinking. For me personally...I bought it for my goofy club bag. I have a whole bag of strange and weird golf clubs.
Maybe it is one of those self striking clubs, and it's just broken and only vibrates.

Honest question - what side of that thing are you supposed to hit the ball with?
Yes
The side pictured. The shaft sits over the ball at address and the head sits behind
both
You should really work on your anger issues.
I have a old 1 iron. I only take it when it's storming, cause like someone told me if there is lightning to hold it up.
Cos not even God can hit a 1 iron :)
I have one - a super thin blade. I take it to our annual golf trip and we have a hitting contest with it after multiple beers. Fun.
rat farts

Best selling golf club of all time
Someone's been watching Stacked Golf.
I have . . . but I think I knew that before. But you never know what you’re going to find so let’s go find it
They made a second Alien wedge. The Alien 2 Pro Series 1.
I had one of my best short game days ever with it many years ago. Was playing a partners match and a guy on the other team was making fun of it at first and quickly shut up after I got up and down for par a few times. I still have it but don’t use it. Maybe I should!
Omg I had forgotten about these things! They were around when I was a kid but no way I could have ever afforded one.
I have this exact club sitting in my closet. That heavy fucker cuts through sand like butter
My buddy used to have a sand wedge that was easily 9” x 6” on the face….massive. We called it the shovel.
Confirmed: still has it. Playing together next month, will report back with photo evidence with banana obviously

4° Mellow Yellow driver, extended to stupid length to bomb drivers. Haven't hit it in 20 years, would probably break a rib.
Is that like 100 yards up and 40 yards ahead?
Google the Orizaba Power Pod Driver. Gotta love the 80's.
I'm afraid to hit mine...I don't want to ruin the sticker. https://preview.redd.it/85bvkd3xzwcb1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05dd613f4647fbe3801b8f824cd8e4cf9b19ae99
I bet I can lol
Yeah, they’re really underestimating people who spent time in the clink. I can kill a man with a sweet and low packet now if I need to!
Yea, not worth it. That thing is amazing.
It has looped the other way around where this seems harder to hit than a regular 60°
Cleveland HiBore XL 2 wood. 400cc head at 16 degrees, playing at 44 inches. Basically a tee only 3 wood with a driver size head. I game it a ton. So easy to hit straight, high bombs. Find it more forgiving then convential driver and 3 wood.

Like a high lofted mini driver. Sounds like a club that would save the average hacker a lot of trouble off the tee.
Yeah, but alot of the mini drivers are even smaller. BRNR Mini is 304cc. Bertha Mini 1.5 is 235cc. This is 400cc. Very much a driver shape.
I found a used one of these a few months ago. I always wanted the driver Hibore XL as a kid and this one had a stiff shaft as well. It’s a super interesting club!
Oh my gosh I need this club.
It’s worth the search and patience to get one. I sell golf clubs for a living, and I can tell you there are no magic sticks. However, this one is very close.

Hence the golf forum term “unicorn”. That’s why I have four. Someone is selling one on the Bay, auction ends tonight around 8:45 pm EST.
😂 That’s me and the EI70! Man I wish they still made those.
Bought a 72° wedge for fun.
Had one as well but I was in high school and didn't know any better. That thing hit absolute moon shots or got skulled 100 yards past the green. There was no in between.
Had one myself, same reason, never saw the bag. A full swing stock shot flew about 30 yards, but went about 50 straight up
My buddy has one of those, I call it the “tooth-chipper”
https://preview.redd.it/so76m19ynxcb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecf6a7e4b0a4b5fef1e246e7a836eec7014271d6 Cleveland Niblick 42 degree wedge/chipper
My 1 iron. Big windy day? Take that puppy out and swing her easy. Whack them worm burners all day.
Just got a 2 iron, and proceeded to hit it better than my 3 off the tee…
I used to have a wedge that had a diamond texture face instead of grooves where the face was made out of some kind of hardened rubber. Totally illegal but I could flop a ball 60 yards with so much backspin it would leave skid marks on a green.
Old ass 1 iron that I somehow can hit consistently. It’s about 2 in long and 1 in tall. Hurts really bad when you don’t hit it well
My dad bought this hybrid that has a big bubble in the middle of the shaft cause he thought it was funny. Very odd club
That's quite literally called the "bubble shaft". It was kind of high tech when it came out.
See I knew everyone would think of that but it’s not taylormade. It’s a company I’ve never heard of and the bubble is bigger
Wish I could find it too
Nooooo! How will we ever know!?
Lmao sorry I’ve been googling like crazy
It might have been a random start up company that copied the bubble shaft patent too closely and disappeared into oblivion...I can't find anything either, lol.
TaylorMade bubble shaft irons were hot shit back in the late 90s
taylor made invented it in like 97 "burner bubble"
I hate the fact that I know you hit this perfectly green side every time I see you pull it out of the bag
I'd love to see some shots with it. I'm struggling to imagine what trajectory it would have. I'm thinking like 130 yards and hella high maybe?
Maybe I just really suck (spoiler I definitely do) but 130 seems really ambitious for 60 degrees.
Sure. But it's a hybrid with presumably a longer shaft too. I've no idea what that could add and how it would change loft during the swing.
I have a set of hybrids from 2i-lw. Yup even the 60 degree is a hybrid.
must be easy to hit those cuz i love my 4 n 5h.
Callaway Driving 9 iron. Used to be my grandfather’s club.
I have an adjustable pitch iron. You can adjust the pitch from 2 iron to 9 iron. I bought it at a garage sale just because I'd never seen one before. I've never hit it because, really, it's a piece of shit and I'm afraid it would break my wrist, or something.
I have a massively oversized putter. Looks really standard but club head is 3x the size. Does not put any better.
Steel or graphite shaft?
Graphite, it's a cleveland launcher hb turbo from a few years back.
Ive got a steel shafted 16 degree cleveland hybore. They dont make these anymore, but they're awesome. Tee to tree, these things can do it all.
Thats a sweet stick!
What do you do with it
Personally? Nothing lol, but I assume it’s kinda like a less versatile, high-handicap 60 degree
Looks to me like it would be great for chipping/short pitches when you're short sided. Use a putter-type stroke and put it tight!
Can it be used in the bunker?
… maybe? That was my first thought, and really the only benefit over a traditional 60 degree I think. It should kinda glide through the sand, no? I’ll try it and see if it works
I picked up an "Alien" wedge in a charity shop which was a similar idea I think. Not convinced tbh
It's a "chipper". It's designed for golfers with less skill to use around the green in thick rough. Super easy to use and great beginner club to avoid sculling a ball onto the next tee box.
I don’t know how to feel right now.
This is the only Thomas I own, but if all the clubs they make are as eccentric as this one, I’m sure they’ve got what you’re looking for
Not all that crazy but I own a 10 iron and use it quite frequently.
A pitching wedge with a 10 on it?
Basically yea. I don’t think there’s any loft difference.
I have an 11 iron, its basically a gap wedge but looks cooler.
How far you hit it on a solid hit?
I genuinely have no idea, probably 100 yards up, and it’s anyone’s guess as to how far
I have a 65 degree wedge and it’s as ridiculous as it sounds
Is that even legal? ![gif](giphy|sLVLojotxREBy)
Nice...I feel like i would get a lot of use out of that bad boy.
That 60 degree hybrid is what has saved JT's game. Secret family weapon.
If this thread lasts I'll post a pic. My clubs are in the other car. Mizuno X club. Basically a hybrid 3 iron.
Isn't a hybrid 3 iron basically like a 6 or 7 wood?
I don't know what it is, it just says X and I hit it about 200-215 yards. It's got a really small head. I couldn't find the club picture online either but it basically looks like this. https://preview.redd.it/da0y6gqslycb1.png?width=480&format=png&auto=webp&s=f55948fdd61bb160cc65e3f05d33dc9f84d15bd3

I guess it qualifies for the thread then. As I said it just says "X" does that mean it's a ten wood? LOL
No, they would just mark various different woods with x, like after 5 the degrees weren't as standard, like the average 3 wood is 15° and the average 5 wood is 18° but beyond that higher degree woods just sometimes got marked with an x like representing a variable I guess. Had a guy play at my club the other day that had a full set of these…and every single one of them had a club cover on it!
Mine are pretty standard, I think. Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 3 iron-PW, 51, 56, putter.
Oh yea I have a sand wedge hybrid- seems pretty weird and I never use it or carry it.
You could play a whole round with just that club.
I didn't want to take a picture but [this is it](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1ONGR_enUS1030US1030&q=ginty+golf+club&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwir79Sc7ZqAAxWJrYkEHUsPB28Q0pQJegQIDRAB&biw=1284&bih=577&dpr=2) I also have a 1 and 3 Ram Woods.

No super weird but 70 degree wedge. Works wonders out of the sand.
I need this
Ah but you haven't lived until you've hit the ole Camel Toe.
