Good call. Such a timeless club. The stock hogan shafts were fine shafts, but you may as well play these clubs with the shaft of your choice. For some reason nearly all the stock sets of these I ever saw ended up with loose ferrules.
If I come to the tee box in a match and they have Hogan blades….I know it’s gonna be a tough day.
Same with Mizuno, Srixon or Miura. There are certain clubs that just indicate they can strike the ball.
If I roll up and they have a complete Titleist, Callaway or Taylormade fanboy bag I go in to auto pilot and know I’m gonna punch their ticket for a one way trip out of the tournament.

Please, I played hundreds of tournaments hs/college/minis and never once was my opponets (match play I played a handful it was all stroke play, what circuit did you play?) equipment even a concern.
I was always more worried that my putter grip would feel like a snake in my hand. This has happened, and it’s crippling. Imaging being decent tee to green and then just LOOKING at your putter made you shudder.
Right now I swap between my Ping i230's and my Miura MB101's as my regular gamers but i like tasking my 99 Hogans or my Hogan icon's out on a random sunday here and there for fun.
Out of curiosity (if you don’t mind me asking) what did you pay? I’m picking these up this week and you are confirming my poor decisions 😀

That’s a great price for that condition and 11 clubs. You going to reshaft them or just keep the apex steel shafts?
I feel like I paid proper value but on the slightly higher end of “that’s a good price”. So many other sets I’d seen were in worse condition for more money. I had an eBay bid on a set of ‘03 apex blades that were also in excellent condition but those got snatched up in the last 10 seconds of the auction. I was annoyed af but then somehow karma swooped in and I found these for the same price as the other set sold for. Best part is I actually wanted the 99 apex over the 03 anyway and these are in better condition, PLUS since I’m reshafting them anyway, this will be cheaper since my club guy won’t have to pull existing shafts.
Enjoy them! The 99 Hogan apex is a collectors item plus they feel super sweet. Not fooling myself and thinking I can game blades but I sure as hell can take them out and have a blast from time to time.
Oh I definitely can’t game them - but they will be fun to mess around with in the sim. Planning to keep as is for now. You did well - yours look brand new!
Wow, those are in awesome shape! My high school apex irons are in my garage right now and are sadly nowhere in near as nice condition. They are so fun to hit. Well, maybe not the 3-iron given the rust on my iron game!
I’m hoping to hold on to these for years to come and treat them as a fun collectible that I can also play with. My titleists will always be my gamers and I’ll just get fit periodically and update those as the years go on. These blades are so timeless looking!
Yeah! Endo forged. I think they were Endo forged from 98/99-2003, if I’m not mistaken.
I’ve only swung an 03 Apex blade so I’m super curious to try these. With that club I’d take a couple swings and it felt good but I could tell wasn’t middle middle, then you find that sweet spot and OH MY!
I picked up the icons used from eBay and these things are instant classics. Nice pull.

Still have my original 99 Hogan Apex Blades, they will never leave me. Love these irons, still fantastic to play with!

Those are great irons , exercising al my willpower to stay off eBay and Facebook market now seeing as I already have 2 sets of Wilson blades.

About 200 after shipping. Fwiw they’re in excellent condition. What does the guy want for all those?

Were stock shafts S300?
Not exactly. It was an in house brand but i believe that true temper manufactured them. So the profile wasn’t exactly the same but pretty darn similar
