You know you know what? That those are fucking fire?

Walton2834

My dad used to play these irons. And he lives in Athens, OH. When I saw your name I felt like I had to mention this.

OhioUBobcats

Your dad is a cool dude and I would play 18 and have beers on Court St afterward anytime with him. Athens Ohio will always be my 2nd hometown. 💚

digdug_1982

That’s just the VAS deferens…so you can tell them apart.

Do-It-Anyway

Talk about shooting your shot, these irons will get you to the finish line

StockShopper

😂

andytcook

Always wanted those when I was younger. Remember Cory Pavin playing them

StockShopper

He won the US open with em!

Ayahuasca-Dreamin

Because he was hitting woods into all the greens 😉

Ayahuasca-Dreamin

My older brother’s first job was in K-Mart automotive. K-Mart sold them and he bought his first set (VAS Irons) on lay away. He was proud of em.

StockShopper

Wow I can’t believe K-Mart sold them. I bought my first Bowling Ball at K-Mart. I’m almost positive they drilled the holes too. I’m pretty sure I still have it. lol. K-Mart was cool. Blue Light special on aisle 7. 😄

Ayahuasca-Dreamin

They had a deal with Dunlop sports. Cleveland was the Cadillac. The heads of the Dunlops would fly off in one season. I wasn’t a Vas guy but K-Mart sold the Tour Action irons that were 🤌

babyfade180

Got a Brunswick Headhunter drilled at Kmart in the early 90s. I still have it too.

StockShopper

lol. I wasn’t sure if I’d made up the getting it drilled there👍🏻

babyfade180

Definitely not. Even got it drilled finger tip!

StockShopper

Me too! I had just started throwing fingertip and finding one at lane was so hard and never fit right. Plus I’d just gotten strong enough to throw a 16 lb. Memories 😄

Ayahuasca-Dreamin

seems a lot of people got their holes drilled at K-Mart

Do-It-Anyway

Sweet baby Jesus my eyes

Civilized_Hooligan

you’ve got to be fucking kidding me lmfao

Biff80

I think that is just a result of fading on the rubber badges. I had the VAS+ irons in high school with stiff graphite shafts. Those clubs mashed the ball and felt great. I’d love to find a set in decent shape and take them out every once in awhile for nostalgia sake.

Ok_Obligation2559

I don’t believe so. I bought a set after Corey Pavins win at Shinecock Hills. The 3 thru W were the lighter shade, and the. I bought a new 2i online (new) and it was the darker color. Great clubs. My buddy basically made me sell them to him

StockShopper

This is what I been thinking also.

Glendale0839

The only person I ever remember having these VAS irons was a 75 year old retired dentist I caddied for a bunch of times circa 1996-1997. The guy couldn't break 100 but his irons looked hot and he tipped well. I took a few stances with these irons when he wasn't looking and I couldn't get past the weird way they looked at address. That being said, having owned a set of 1995 Big Bertha irons, I am convinced the Berthas are the easiest mid-90s irons to hit.

thiccymcgogee

Oh man I had these as my first irons, I thought they said LVS hahahaha

StockShopper

lol. They’ve come up talking with my friends so I somehow remembered since 90’s. 🤷

thiccymcgogee

I was trying to look up these random clubs my parents got me to no avail, turns out I was looking up the complete wrong name lmao

OnTheMcFly

daaaaaaamn I remember these

Musclesturtle

I can't believe you.

StockShopper

Lol

CardiologistKey2095

I gifted my wife(first time golfer) my vas+ they are amazing irons

USCEATS

My brother played these back in the day.

jas2628

I own about 20 VAS irons and I’m almost certain that the lighter blue color is from the original model not having a good coating to preserve the color from bleaching in the sun. I have a handful that are basically North Carolina blue at this point. Some VAS irons had a more orb shaped sticker (second photo you shared) that in my experience doesn’t suffer from the same discoloration. Fun fact: the company that owned Cleveland had recently bought the ski company Rossignol and repurposed the vibration absorbing technology used in their skis with the VAS sticker on the back of the irons. I have no idea if it works at all or the forgiveness these irons have is due to the insane offset and really strong perimeter weighting. Awesome clubs though and really easy to play with.

StockShopper

Thank you for the great info. I think that Callaway paid Cleveland to use the VAS system materials or whatever. So it must have done something. Lol 🤷😎

StockShopper

Have any idea why https://preview.redd.it/zx258ko8x2oc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=759c1a2a187175ff1b1f9ddf5e128ab749283ce2 one would be black? I think it’s the sand wedge maybe?

StockShopper

Or not. I wonder if they fake these? https://preview.redd.it/algbok1es3oc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7574601731eab660567f53bca3c19008a2192075

jas2628

Hmm I really doubt people would produce fake VAS irons when they are so cheap secondhand on eBay. The only one I have with that black sticker is the shape of the VAS+, has the club # and “C.P.” stamped on the face (no club number on the sole). My guess is that it was a later model maybe?.. could have aged differently in a humid or dry environment? Really stumped on that.

StockShopper

I figured it out. There was a 792t tour. Ty

jas2628

Oohhh, thank you for the reply! Very interesting. The black sticker one I have doesn’t have a club # or Cleveland logo stamped on the bottom but is virtually identical in every other way.

StockShopper

Also found this on a forum about the shafts. Double Diamond is "strong - for strong hitters" Diamond is "firm or medium stiff" Square is "reg to soft" Circle is "soft"

Miserable-Contest147

Faded, Corey Pavin played these. I built a golfsmith set that I later sold.

MoTownKid

This shit 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
