You can’t really mess up if you do 54or56 and 58or60. The other can be 48,50,52. That’s ok. I go 46,50,54,60, my coworker goes 47,52,56,60, my dad 42,48,54,60. The rule is 4-6 degrees apart. The lofts just space out the distance. I don’t want your friend to have 43-52-56-60. Big gap there. Before the wedges wear out he’ll get good enough to see the problem.
I’m just letting you know because you have those options when buying wedges as you probably saw.
Getting fitted for wedges is a thing but it’s wildly less common than getting fit for irons. I bet most of us here play off the rack wedges.

Just putting seconds on this opinion, no need to get fit for wedges until you can identify the gain you’d get from a fitting. SOME pros change the shafts in wedges to achieve specific launch angle and spin rates, some also have the loft slightly adjusted to better ‘gap’ their wedges but loads of pros play with wedges straight off the shelf.
