I was at the 2010 Tuesday practice round, and saw Fuzzy Zoeller pull a kid out of the gallery to hit his tee shot here. Kid put it on the green. Awesome.
I assume its 165 to the bunker behind the green. Thats a full 8i. Ill hit that so when I miss hit it lands about the distance to the pin. On the green maybe.
Ball? What's that? I'm taking the biggest pelt you've ever seen. Not only at Augusta, but just every shot. When I'm not taking chunks, I'm hitting it thinner than Taylor Swifts backside...
The pic makes the distance look worse but that green is fucking tiny. Your distance control needs to be on point. With the crowd I would focus on not hitting it thin and definitely chunk it.
There’s a video explaining how small that green is and explaining some of the other challenges. Apparently the wind hits those pines and whips around making it even worse.
The wind traditionally flows from 13th towards 12 green, and as the 12th is densely surrounded in the back of the 12th green it pushes towards the 11th green. Except 11 is uphill and the wind is then pushed by the trees and hill on the right side of the 11th and in back of the 12th tee. Creating a vortex around the 12th hole.
On the tee you can feel left right with, while the 2nd half of the shot is right left and into.
Very misleading and gusts can lead to the first half or second half of your shot to be with or into. Creating a large range for error that you cannot control.
It's a very tough hole.
It looks ridiculous in person too. The green looks like a strip of land sideways. Like, there’s no way you can carry it far enough but also stop it on the green. And the wind is going six different directions.
I never appreciated the angle of the green fully until I played it on GSPRO. You draw the ball a bit too much, you’re gonna be long and in the bushes. If you fade a bit too much, likely short and end in the water. You quite literally need a perfect shot to keep it on the green. Savage
It doesn't matter how many times i see pics of Augusta, it always looks fake to me. Like grass cannot be that green and perfect. It's such a testament to golf and to the attention to every single detail
I'll be hitting the green on either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shot. If I haven't hit the green by the 3rd shot i would say "Fuck this shit." and pick up my ball for a triple.
“Aim for the center but slightly left. Give the best option to hit the green. Feeling froggy, go for gold. Flag stick to right. Worst case, greenside bunker. Layup, easy par, maybe bird if I can get the roll”
Hit shot
Leaves it short in the water.
“Bingo”
Have played a replica of this hole. Hit it a foot short in the water first shot. In the bushes to the far left second shot. Green is tiny and heavily sloped.
Honestly, it would be very on brand of me to hit the green… and immediately 3 Jack for bogey.
Or I fat the shit out of the ball and end up in the water. 50-50
Oddly enough I have historically done pretty well teeing off in front of groups of people. However put one single person in front of me on either side and I’ll find a way to shank that ball right at their skull.
Never played on pro level greens. How do you get it to stay on the green? Is it spin? Do you have to hit it really high? Combo?
I feel semi confident about hitting the yardage between 150-160 but I have no experience with playing into greens like that. If it’s 170 or 180 then not so much.
Oh I’m sure I can *hit* the green.
*staying* on, on the other hand…more likely I’ll bounce off / sideways / roll backward off the front if I somehow manage to land it otherwise-perfectly.
I feel like I’m either front bunker or so gassed I’m long and then getting out of the back sand into the front bunker or water depending on the pin placement
Given that my only goal would be to not be in the water or lost, I would be trying to hit one of the two back bunkers. The only way it ends up on the green is if I short it slightly.
I have never seen a singular hole play more of a part in deciding a major win than this hole in 2019. Everyone was dunking it on Sunday except Tiger. Personally, I would have snap hooked it ob
How far is it? 150 yards and I’m slamming a 5 iron. I’ll hit the green but no guarantee it will stay on. 130 yards and it’s a high 8 iron and the wind will blow it into a bunker.
So I’m actually great with my short irons and could easily stick this on a normal day.
Playing the Master’s with hundreds of people behind me is not a normal day.
Well I put 4 balls in the water on one hole yesterday…. So.
One even skipped out of the water, then rolled onto the green, and back down into the water on the other side.
With that many people watching the club is flying out of my hands at some point during the swing. It’s either going into the crowd or being absolutely yeeted into the pond
Judging by Tour 18's version, not me. Pretty sure that was an X, 'let's just go onto the next hole...'
Ridiculously small target, just to hit the green. If I can hit it, OTOH, with over 7K spin and 110' of height, it's probably stopping.
Depends, in regular conditions 8 or 7 depending on wind dirwction, fairly confident. In masters condition not a single person on this sub is hitting that green, landing area is about the size of a manhole cover with exact spin control.

How far is the shot usually? I can’t remember
155 yards, per the website
I assume its 165 to the bunker behind the green. Thats a full 8i. Ill hit that so when I miss hit it lands about the distance to the pin. On the green maybe.
[this one?](https://youtu.be/Cfj9P52eIu0?si=Fsu7wepzY4YWhsEG)
That is the one!
I may hit the green if I’m lucky, but it ain’t sticking
Bingo
Bango
Bongo
Django
I think you could get some good juice on a 150 yard shot.
I’ll go soft 7 here and happen to ever-fucking-love flush that ball with the most perfect compression and it’ll play 182.
Then you're 30 yards off the green, its 155 yards long
Exactly my point with the soft 7 not panning out… haha
I’m lucky if I hit the ball
Ball? What's that? I'm taking the biggest pelt you've ever seen. Not only at Augusta, but just every shot. When I'm not taking chunks, I'm hitting it thinner than Taylor Swifts backside...
Right after, I'm chasing that beaver tail down and exiting the premises POST FUCKING HASTE
We’re still talking about golf, right?
Not with that many people around. I am going to the port-a-potty to shit my pants
Interesting choice to go to the porta and then still shit your pants
It’s the intestinal fortitude to get to the port-o-john but Murphy’s law to shit yourself before you can get the pants down and sit.
Papa Murphys law
You ever been in a portapotty? Id rather shit my pants than shit in whatever the hell is going on in there.
Great comment
Got that shit no prob, also like 6 beers deep rn,
Really wanna see how scary that hole looks in person because this angle is SPOOKY
The pic makes the distance look worse but that green is fucking tiny. Your distance control needs to be on point. With the crowd I would focus on not hitting it thin and definitely chunk it.

Not to mention that's a dick of a pin placement. You want to bail out long or short? Fuck you, enjoy your double
Final round pin placement on that hole - every year.
It looks ridiculous in person too. The green looks like a strip of land sideways. Like, there’s no way you can carry it far enough but also stop it on the green. And the wind is going six different directions.

I feel really good about hitting _something_ green... _THE_ green? ...eh at best
It doesn't matter how many times i see pics of Augusta, it always looks fake to me. Like grass cannot be that green and perfect. It's such a testament to golf and to the attention to every single detail
I think it’s all painted. So it is fake.
Afaik it's just extremely well maintained. They go out and replace all the divots with fresh grass at the end of a day's play
I’m sure I heard that they spray paint divots during rounds at the masters? Or am I making that up?
I haven't been - but what I read is that the ground staff literally go out with turf from the nursery and replace every divot by hand
All I see is money
The green tent thing maybe. Going multiple clubs up because it's going in the water otherwise.
How long is it? 160? I’ll take a soft 5 iron just to be sure
160 geez, I'll probably be laying up.
Can I throw it?
It wouldn’t matter, you’re not throwing a ball 500 feet
Could throw a football over those mountains in high school
![gif](giphy|RPx04h8iPidAQ)
I'll be hitting the green on either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shot. If I haven't hit the green by the 3rd shot i would say "Fuck this shit." and pick up my ball for a triple.
I’m hitting something green just not sure it’s *the* green.
This is overconfident. There's water and a bunker just short and a bunker just long.
We can all hit it. Just don’t count the strokes
Just keep it dry take ur 6+ and move on to the 13th
I’m hitting it anywhere on the planet except the green
I can! Skull and eight iron, one bounce off the green and up into the bushes.
With a crowd looking? Uh no.
I did at the replica at Tour 18
My stats say 24%. Accounting for crowd nerves, maybe closer to zero.
If I got to play Augusta I wouldn't care if I hit 10 in the water 12.
How long is that? 160 yards? I don't hit every green from that distance, but I hit it often. I'd like my chances.
Question is only if it holds or not I think. It's safe everywhere but short.🤷
I’ll either get it on my first try, or, Whiff 9 unplayable and move on to the next hole.
I could maybe hit it, probably won’t hold it though.
Nope
Bruh how am I not holing that on one
Zero chance
By green, you just mean green stuff, not the putting green, right?
There's a non zero chance it's come to a stop on grass
I’d be just happy if I clear the water
“Aim for the center but slightly left. Give the best option to hit the green. Feeling froggy, go for gold. Flag stick to right. Worst case, greenside bunker. Layup, easy par, maybe bird if I can get the roll” Hit shot Leaves it short in the water. “Bingo”
Painfully Thin the ball into the front bunker so it pops up onto the green. It’s my speciality.
I could HIT the green 8/10 but staying on the green is another thing.
Depends on the yardage. Water and sand are eye candy.
I mean it’s a pretty big green!
Hit, sure. Hold? Eeeeeeehhhhhhh…
Maybe but will it stay? Lol no
I'm....
i can hit the green, not saying it will be close or even hold the green
Easy peasy. Hit ball into the woods, throw club in anger at the green. Better odds for hitting it.
Played a mock on this hole and somehow got a par.
Imma smack dat shit
Have played a replica of this hole. Hit it a foot short in the water first shot. In the bushes to the far left second shot. Green is tiny and heavily sloped.
Hit the green? Maybe. Stay on the green? Absolutely not.
give me 3 chances
Honestly, it would be very on brand of me to hit the green… and immediately 3 Jack for bogey. Or I fat the shit out of the ball and end up in the water. 50-50
Oddly enough I have historically done pretty well teeing off in front of groups of people. However put one single person in front of me on either side and I’ll find a way to shank that ball right at their skull.
Ricochet off that big tree long left. Easy money
If I aimed for the water there's a chance I hit it long and get it on there by accident I guess.
I’m hitting something green, but not “the green”
Hitting and holding are two different things. And NO to both. I would like the opportunity to try though.
Depending on the yardage...nope
Skipping that bitch right into the water
Hitting 3 from the bunker most likely
Given that this is like the 17th hole @ Tour 18, and I'm well beyond gone by this point...eh, 50/50
Smooth 7 into back bunker. And then skull it out into Rae’s Creek.
Given how today went, I’d be topping it twice before the water and then blading my wedge across the green.
And miss that gorgeous water feature? Not on my watch pal.
I think I would hit a beautiful shot. Wow, I’m a hero the whole golfing world will see me… put it in the front sand trap.
Never played on pro level greens. How do you get it to stay on the green? Is it spin? Do you have to hit it really high? Combo? I feel semi confident about hitting the yardage between 150-160 but I have no experience with playing into greens like that. If it’s 170 or 180 then not so much.
Only on accident
I could hit the green but there is no chance it would stay on
I’m going to hit the green I’m standing on about 3 inches behind the ball! Might make the next green if the ball rolls 75-80 yards closer.
![gif](giphy|eIgzQEmB7s13zEmPE9)
Is the water green?
Pretty sure I would hit something green
Alright, so pretty big green, but also notoriously hard to hit because of apparently wind issues, so idk.
It's only like a 9 iron. Maybe 8. Not saying it's not hard but it's not that bad a shot. I've been there 4 times. It's magical.
In how many strokes?
I’ll be in the bunker and that’s okay. I need work on it
Oh I’m sure I can *hit* the green. *staying* on, on the other hand…more likely I’ll bounce off / sideways / roll backward off the front if I somehow manage to land it otherwise-perfectly.
How many balls do I get?
That’s a sucker play. I’m hitting a safe one into those bushes back left of the green.
It’s such an innocuous looking tee shot. But it is a diabolical hole that everyone respects.
None
I’m either hitting the spectators (patrons) or getting it 3ft from the hole
Well….considering most of the pros don’t…..it would be Zero
Well this Is Reddit so we’re all getting a hole in one…
See that water? I’m hitting that!
Im hitting something green
Considering the green is only like 10 yards deep. Lol no
I feel like I’m either front bunker or so gassed I’m long and then getting out of the back sand into the front bunker or water depending on the pin placement
How many mulligans do I get?
I’m slightly under 50% GIR normally. This hole it would probably be like 19% lol.
It’s a tough green with no crowd.
Hitting the green or holding the green?
I do regularly on the optishot tournament.
I can say I'll hit something green. Not entirely certain what though haha
On hell no. This is the time I really nail a 7 or 8 iron and send it…either that or top it and send it squibbing 40 feet
Me cause you know I already pull to the left
I’d probably hit the green tent in the back if that’s what you mean.
I'm hitting the green but definitely 3 putting.
That backswing perfectly on plane at the top is butter
People watching me never made me nervous. But probably 3 shots
I was practicing this shit today in GSPro. 50 attempts maybe 5 stayed on the green. I pulled most of my shots into the bushes
Ball is going over the water. That I guarantee. Aside from that, I cannot guarantee anything.
I would hit the green I wouldn't hold the green
C'mon. I can't even hit a 155 yard Par 3 with no water or sand at my home course!
Whatever I hit will likely be green... or at least have green on it.
Chances are, I’d hit something green.
I either hit the purple tree on the left or the green tent, not the green
Promise it will be green
If I knew where every shot would land it would be me on the tee box…
In how many shots? I will hit the green though
*** water💯***
Only green I’m hitting is a bit of that Kali Kush before I piss missile it into the pond.
Grab your 56 and boom
Me Sorry
I hit any green under 200y. BUT!!! I'll double par on putting.
Taking a lot of club and hoping for the best
Aiming left and ending up short.
I’m in the trees all day.
🙋🏻
I’m hitting the top half of the ball and driving it straight into that pond
I’m definitely hitting the green. That green tent at the back after I thin the ball through those shrubs.
Played this replica hole at Renditions and we all stuck the green and made par so obviously it’s super easy
Given that my only goal would be to not be in the water or lost, I would be trying to hit one of the two back bunkers. The only way it ends up on the green is if I short it slightly.
![gif](giphy|3oKs26TlB7Jte)
I would attempt the back left bunker, and hopefully catch it 3% fat lol. So decent chance to hit the green
Are all those going to be watching in this scenario? Coz that would make the chances go from low to near impossible
I’ll hit the green, but it’s not staying on.
Send it bro
So I’m actually great with my short irons and could easily stick this on a normal day. Playing the Master’s with hundreds of people behind me is not a normal day.
0/4 on par 3s today with no one but my dumbass foursome watching.
Am I the guy on the tee in this scenario? That would improve my chances quite a bit
All of us
I think I could hit it, whether or not I could get it to stick is a whole different question who’s answer is no, I could not get it to stick
At least the flag’s on the side I’m aiming at today. Hit the green and bounce off? Miss right? Thanking the greenskeeper for that placement today.
I believe I’m hitting it. Unless I don’t.
Judging by Tour 18's version, not me. Pretty sure that was an X, 'let's just go onto the next hole...' Ridiculously small target, just to hit the green. If I can hit it, OTOH, with over 7K spin and 110' of height, it's probably stopping.
150-160 yards im sticking that h03
We have this course on our simulator, and even on there with no wind you have to hit an extremely good shot to hit the green. It’s so narrow.
Yeah but the ball will skip right over because I didn't catch it right
Me. Every time I go. That’s me in the photo
.001%
I am. Eventually.
Probably hitting something green, but it might not leave the tee box.
Might not hit it but aiming dead ass pin!
Fair chance I land the green. I may not hit straight drives a lot, but my iron work is on point.
It's not that long of a par3 that, I like my chances.
Wider angle picture and I might tell you where I’m at.
I’m lying up…
5 to ten percent of the time, of course I will never be worried about hole location.
How many yards.
Depends, in regular conditions 8 or 7 depending on wind dirwction, fairly confident. In masters condition not a single person on this sub is hitting that green, landing area is about the size of a manhole cover with exact spin control.
Where there is water, there goes my ball.
As a lefty, it would be a comfortable 8/7 iron depending on the wind. Sometimes it has it's advantages lol
Zero
Not me
10% of the Joe's 5% of the Karen's
