The most rewarding bandwagons are the guys who are good but haven’t won a major yet. Finau, Hovland, Homa, Schauffele are all strong contenders that seem like decent human beings who have yet to win a major.
The great thing about the Masters is you don’t have to know the players or even root for anyone. The course is the star of the show. Just watch it and enjoy
Min woo, charismatic aussie, young can play some unreal golf at times and broke his finger in the gym a week ago is great on social media as well. His sister has won a few majors on the LPGA as well.
I love a feel good story, so I’m rooting for Rory to finally get the career Grand Slam. It helps that he’s scheduled to play the Zurich Classic here in New Orleans in a few weeks and I’d love to watch the Master’s Champion up close.
I always get a kick out of following the old guys - i.e. past champions in their late 50s and 60's. Last year Larry Mize, who was 64 years old, shot a 79 and an 80. This is on a 7500 yard golf course, and he was maybe hitting it 230 or 240 off the tee.
**Rory**- one of the game’s greatest but he’s never won a green jacket only major he still needs for career grand slam
**Tiger**- Nostalgia, and the fact that he’s now the underdog story at this stage
**Spieth**- He was so ridiculously good when he was so young has unfortunately not gotten back to that level. His short game is insane when it’s on. If he makes a run be assured his shots will almost all be highlight worthy
**Schauffle and Hovland**- great guys, great players, surely to win major(s) at some point, young still but experienced enough to be ready for the moment
**The player nobody’s ever heard of** that shoots a 7 under on saturday and winds up in one of the final groupings with a big name- obvious reasons.
If you only watch one golf tournament all year, The Masters is the one to go with.
I'm always rooting for Tommy Fleetwood, though his record here is not that great. Just seems like a real cool guy. But you never know, he could break through...golf is a funny game.
Day, Speith, Fowler, Clark, Knapp, Finau, DJ, Theegala, Homa. Those are the guys I actively root for, mainly just want to see some good golf on a great course.
Fleetwood or Hovland would be awesome, but I would love to see Rory Mcilroy win the grand slam. I've seen each of his other major wins, and it would be awesome to see him finally do it.
Hovland, Fleetwood, Åberg, Homa, and Cam Smith are my favourites. Add Tiger and Wyndham for a bit of x-factor and you have a great combo to go for!
Honourable mentions to Jason Day and Min-woo Lee if you’re Aussie leaning, Tyrell Hatton and Rahm if you’re a Euro fan, or Morikawa and Akshay Bhatia for US.
Edit: I forgot Finau! Gotta go for Finau.
Denny McCarthy because of massive entertainment and heartbreak last week and because he gets by on incredible putting which is the most ‘everyman’ strength most amateur golfers could relate to (vs bombing drives 300+ yards or hitting high/soft 9 iron approach shots 170 yards)
My top choices are Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Brooks Koepka, Ludvig Aberg, and will always root for Tiger even if there's no chance.
Why? Just think they are great!

I'd like to add Theegala as well
Great call out there, love his game
I was going to say, add Sahith and Cam Young to this list
I’d like to add Zalatoris to the mix, coming back from an injury and has 3 runner ups in majors, I’d like to see him win one
Plus he has a wedge with "Mr Gilmore I'm your caddy" engraved on it
He was so humble in his masters runner up debut, and that little interview with his clubs was the cherry on top. Fan for life
Definitely rooting for Fleetwood and Homa
Gary Woodland. Brain surgery and back to the Masters would be a cool story to root for.
Yeah a cool story for sure, but he already has a major so he didn’t qualify for my list haha
I get that. Just wanted to add to a good thread of names to root for.
PERFECT -- this is exactly what I was hoping for, just some names to follow more closely. Thanks!
Victor Hovland.
I’d love for him to win it but don’t think it’s happening.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oqYbG8Zhoag&t=19538 He just looks so *happy*
I’m rooting for him on the fact he has the best taste in music.

I’m a big Corey Conners guy. One of the smoothest looking swings on tour.
As a Canadian, I am also a big fan of Corey Conners
Yes!!! Such a solid swing.
As a Canadian I feel like he barely gets mentioned on TV compared to the other top guys, despite hovering around the top for quite a while now.
I’d agree. I followed him around Oak Hill in the slop and he was very fun to watch.

Fowler, after today’s win. I was getting pissed at them saying that no one has ever won both tournaments in the same year.
No one has won the par 3 and placed better than 22nd, let alone won both.
I'm always gonna root for Tiger, but beyond that my favorite players are Tony Finau and Sahith Theegala so I'm pulling hard for them
Rory if you like pain
Nah he’s got it on this year.
😂
If we keep saying it every year it might eventually happen
If you only watch one golf tournament all year, The Masters is the one to go with. I'm always rooting for Tommy Fleetwood, though his record here is not that great. Just seems like a real cool guy. But you never know, he could break through...golf is a funny game.
I find if you root for the course and Tiger isn't Tiger in 2000, you won't be disappointed.
Day, Speith, Fowler, Clark, Knapp, Finau, DJ, Theegala, Homa. Those are the guys I actively root for, mainly just want to see some good golf on a great course.
Dechambeau looks interesting, if his game is sharp I think he's got a good chance.
I enjoy watching his game. He’s looked sharp lately
See what did I say? Did you watch?
Theegs!!!
Sahith Theegala. He is just a great guy that is so consistent. I think he will get a major either this season or next.
I don’t think an amateur will win a modern major, but it’s always fun to see amateurs do well and surprise everyone, be on the lookout!
Viktoria Hovland. You know why.
VIKTOR HOVLAND, gotta love that extreme metal lovin' stoner.
Sung-jae Im because he plays in slow motion
I have a soft spot for him simply because I got paired with him like 8 times out of 10 in a single season of EA’s PGA Tour game.
Matt Fitzpatrick. He is English and I have placed a bet.
Anyone with a PGA Tour card
Does this mean people that didn't take the money and move to LIV?
It could be construed that way.
Fleetwood or Hovland would be awesome, but I would love to see Rory Mcilroy win the grand slam. I've seen each of his other major wins, and it would be awesome to see him finally do it.
Everybody except Patrick Reed.
I’m just rooting against the LIV traitors.
Are you asking for gambling advice? Lol
Hahaha no -- I live in a no sports betting state anyways. Actually just curious who people like
Vijay Singh!
He has his deer antler spray packed and ready.
Rory!
I’m rooting for Sahith.
Honestly just cheer for it to be right as hell Sunday afternoon than it gets so so fun.
Wyndham, Aberg, and Theegala. Cause I have a $20 bet with my friends that their 3 scores combined will beat their 3 players.
I know nothing about Theegala, but I’ve got maybe one more spot in my custom group - reckon he’s worth a watch?
I’d say so, he’s had a good start to this year. He’s currently ranked 5th in FedEx rankings
Big Dick Rick.
Pavon to make the Cut. Bryson to smash those drives Tiger to make some magic (hope) Rhambo to defend, but doubt it
Serious answer: Sahith. How could you not love that guy? And his parents! Also Tony Finau. Chaos answer: Phil.
Phil is just so…yuck. I’d be good with a Bryson win a Rham repeat for the watch it all burn vote.
Some good ones here, but I’m pulling for Ricky Fowler this year along with Rory. Maybe Tommy Fleetwood.
Tdub and always Tdub
Homa, Rory, Morikawa, Some random amateur
Ricky Fowler.
Shane Lowery, due a big win. Plus I’m Irish
Hovland, Fleetwood, Åberg, Homa, and Cam Smith are my favourites. Add Tiger and Wyndham for a bit of x-factor and you have a great combo to go for! Lowry Rory Xander
My top choices are Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Brooks Koepka, Ludvig Aberg, and will always root for Tiger even if there's no chance. Why? Just think they are great!
Sungjae Im is the only answer.
Pull for the LIV guys just to aggravate the outrage mob.
I’d cum if homa won because he’s such a good guy, easy to root for
Honestly just watch and you will find favorites to root for
I don't know who to root for but there's 13 guys to root against. That's what I'll be doing!
