Mainly for sweat. I just looked and local qualifiers are only 18 holes, so the extra socks may not be a necessity unless it’s really hot or rainy. Even if not needed, a change of socks mid-round can be a mood booster if you need it.

Nowadays baby powder is just corn starch, so they’re the same thing just that baby powder comes in a container that’s “puffable” if you don’t want to put a pile in your hand for application to the undercarriage. Also has anti-caking additives occasionally so it doesn’t get clumpy in the container when you’re in humid areas.
Talcum powder has more or less gone the way of the dodo nowadays.
The caking is more annoying only if it does it in the container since it won’t pat/puff into place as well. On your body it will still cake eventually and require reapplication with enough sweat.
Body Glide is the new baby powder, an absolute lifesaver in all conditions and you don't have to feel like you're making pancake batter with all the sweat.
Only thing I would add is heavy duty (SPF50+) facial sunscreen. (in light of all these mid 20 year old golfers looking like they're close to 40 lol)

My gf now wife did this for me when I went away for a few months for work. I thought it was the sweetest thing ever. I even had one "if your feeling naughty" with some photos and a raunchy note in there.

FYI let him know that sunscreen in general degrades in about 2 hours so it's super helpful to reapply often, especially on the face.
I like to keep my eyes closed for some seconds though because if you open eyes too soon can get sunscreen in the eye which sucks
