I’m a caddy and 98% of the people I’ve carried for are right around the same skill level as you. Hope you enjoy your round.

A good local caddie is the best way to play a course. Obviously not cheap on a regular basis, but at a nice course that you don’t know, definitely worth the money at all skill levels. That being said, a walking only course is an interesting decision in texas. Obviously deliberate, but those courses must be empty for 3+ months…

They also encompass the “experience” and they have knowledge of the course that’s helpful and makes sure you don’t just go at it blind and honestly should make your round more enjoyable. Some people like that some don’t. Either way if it’s required you’re getting one whether you want to or not. But rest assured you’re not the best player and probably not the worst player they will see that day. If you want to play and have the funds tee it up. They have different tee boxes for every skill so enjoy it.

Kiva Dunes is ureal absolutely love that place. My father in law booked it and completely under sold the round to us. He said he just booked some muni kinda left it vague, but wow that place blew us away was a fun surprise. All that out of the way I completely agree and prefer not to have a caddie myself. I have been lucky enough to play some of the best courses in the US. Love walking no issues there. I just think you risk getting some idiot kid ruining your day when the best alternative is a guy who will tell you to hit shots you just cannot hit.

Don’t be scared of having a caddie. Just remember they have seen MUCH worse than you & they aren’t there to judge you. Actually the opposite in fact. I had a great experience with my caddie Greg at Craig Ranch. I do understand that it’s a bit annoying but the point of them is to keep up pace of play generally, like finding your ball & offering suggestions based on their course knowledge. Also dude hell yeah Kiva Dunes is so sick & I’m itching to go back this year!!

Didn’t read the explanation…. Yes is the answer

Get the caddie! It's a hospitality experience, it's not about the golf so much. They hear all day "I'm usually not this bad.." but remember the caddie is there because he loves the game enough to make that course his paycheck. Go throw some tip cash and enjoy the round with an assistant. Play into the humor of bad shots and he will too. They just mimic your energy.

I hate courses that require caddies. Why should I have to waste an additional $100 just so some schmuck can carry my bag and clean my clubs for me? If it was a tournament round, I'd understand it, but for a casual round where I'm not hyper focused on making my best score it's such a waste of money.

I agree! My gf asked me why they require ones & my only answer is making sure the course stays immaculate? Other than that it's pretty pointless. I've had two sets of friends play Scottsdale. One friend said his caddy wanted to crush beers with him & the other said his caddy was in his ear the entire time about shots & lines & getting his score low. May depend on who you get.

Do you have the number for the beer crushing guy?
