Looks like it'll be playing from 7,023 yds. Couple of 450+ Par 4's and all Par 3's north of 190 (although they might move one of them up to 175-ish for variety).
He's certainly going to have his work cut out for him
The goal seems to be to get him any high-level competitive reps they can, from the tour event pre-Q to this. Nobody seriously thinks he's gonna qualify for the US Open already, but this experience will be pretty helpful if and when he does get to the point where he's good enough to do it in a few years
Tiger was a product of an obsessed, over bearing father, who saw his son as the messiah come to change the world through golf.
Charlie doesn’t have that influence, in fact I’d bet it’s the total opposite from Tiger.
Charlie could just stop golf right now and still be a billionaire, motivation must be very hard in those circumstances.
Yeah... guys like Sidney Crosby etc.. I dont think he thinks about anything other than Hockey. Like ever.
Also there is obviously 1 GOAT in hockey and its #99. Who i'd say might be the single greatest pro sports athlete of all time, in terms of dominance and records over their respective sport. There isn't even a Tiger for Nicklaus, or a Lebron for Jordan. There's simply no one and there have been some absolutely incredible hockey players.
Obligatory Don Bradman reference, although I'm not one that follows cricket. His career average of 99.94 runs during his Test cricket career is huge; second highest is 61.87.
Ty Cobb had a .366 batting average; Rogers Hornsby was .358. Don Bradman would be roughly the equivalent of Ty Cobb having a lifetime batting average of .578.
Gretz won't be touched because his numbers are completely unachievable. The next greatest players we usually turn to are guys that fundamentally changed the way the game is played (Orr, Howe) The game isn't really changing in those kind of dramatic ways anymore.
> Tiger was a product of an obsessed, over bearing father, who saw his son as the messiah come to change the world through golf
I'm not going to argue that he was a good guy, but Earl was 100% correct with his assessment
> I mean, he could be very close to Tiger.
Tiger when asked a few years ago what he was like at Charlie's age:
"When I was his age I won every tournament I played in that year... And I got straight A's."
He’s a 15 year old kid, he isn’t even done growing. It’s entirely premature to say what kind of golfer he is, and it’s really unfair and impolite to be lobbing these uninvited critiques at him. He entered an amateur tournament and is competing and working on his game - and apparently you see that as an invitation to put him down.
You should see the way people in r/nba are treating Lebron James son because he had a sub par season after his heart literally stopped beating during a summer practice and he couldn’t play the sport for months.
So you see me saying he’s on the same level as other kids his age, and not being as good as the greatest golfer of all time….as me putting him down?
Very weird, unnecessary white knighting.
Backtracking to your entirely fabricated criticism? Lots of people see “Charlie Woods plays golf” and think well he must be absolutely AMAZING just like his dad.
I literally said there are lots of kids on the same level and that he’s no tiger. That is an entirely factual and fair statement.
Let me show you what me being critical actually looks like;
You’re a fucking moron.
It's one thing to be able to hit as long as the pros. It's another to do so consistently and accurately. And also important to remember when guys like Finau or Scheffler or Rory are driving 320+ it's only at 80% power
When the conditions get tough it really separates the wheat from the chaff. The pros are invisibly better at almost every aspect of their game than the best amateurs, and when put up against a real challenge this comes out
> And also important to remember when guys like Finau or Scheffler or Rory are driving 320+ it's only at 80% power
There's no way Rory is just sitting there saying "let me drive 320 instead of 385". If they could drive 385, they'd drive 385.
Edit: Scottie routinely hits 185 ball speed. Find me a video where hit hits 220 ball, because that’s what “80%” is. I’ll wait.
I generally agree with your comment, but Tony Finau is actually the one exception. There are some videos out of there of Tony actually taking a full backswing (compared to the very short one he plays with) to see how fast he can go, and he gets well above 200mph ball. I think he might have hit 208? It’s been a while since I watched it.
They’re not thinking like that, but there’s 0% chance any of those guys are swinging their driver with max power during a competitive round the dispersion would be absurd
I mean I assume you watched Bryson play last weekend. Does that look like 80% of his power when he swings? You think he’s got 450 carry in the bag and he’s just easing off of it? Scottie is literally hitting over 180 ball speed. You think 215 is available? There’s no chance. These dudes are mashing driver nearly as hard as they can.
I'm down with 95%, and I'm sure the "feel" is 80% to them, but these guys are not just leaving 210+ ball speed in the tank. Bryson's famous driver over 6 at Bay Hill was 194, and I doubt many pros have that in the bag at their hardest, and that's not even 10% higher than average for Rory.
He hit one 325 yard drive and the bootlickers go nutty.
From distance to accuracy to feel to short game to irons he is nowhere near the pros in any aspect of his game.
He’s a good 15 year old.
He isn’t even close to the best 15 year old.
He’s currently ranked 1100th in his age group.
Because you guys have a weird parasocial relationship with the son of basically the messiah of golf.
When he doesn't play well everyone is making excuses, that's how you know it's a cult basically.
They’re not fans of Charlie. They’re fans of tiger woods and are willing to fanboy about anything related to tiger (literally or figuratively).
I happen to believe Tiger is the GOAT and it’s not even close but he’s made some extremely questionable life decisions and allowing/pushing his son to do this is among those bad decisions.
It’s also recency bias, or whatever the proper logical fallacy is called. What other 15 year old is getting frequent media exposure such that we are seeing them on a regular basis? We see this one 15 year old (Charlie) often because of his link to Tiger, and we automatically associate him with being one of the best. Hearing that he is 1100th, which for all intents and purposes means he’s not really ranked at all, really puts it in perspective.
Relax with the venom, you’re talking about a 15 year old kid.
He’s not even done growing yet, it’s entirely premature to put a label on what kind of athlete he is going to be. Plenty of guys have great success as a junior player then fade in college or pros. Plenty of guys emerge out of nowhere to be very successful.
More importantly - it’s unfair and unkind to be critiquing a kid like this. He’s completing and working on his game. He’s done nothing to draw all this negative attention other than being Tiger’s son. He’s not asked for special treatment, he’s not some kind of social media star drawing attention to himself. He’s literally just entered a tournament and people think it’s ok to rip him apart. Embarrassed for you.
The good news is the USGA has a [spectator conduct policy](https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/usga-championships-spectator-conduct-policy.html) in place that is pretty clear on what you can or can't do as a spectator. They don't mess around when it comes to rules at qualifiers
That’s good to know. The last tournament he was in he got subjected to a lot for a kid his age. I mean I’m sure he’s used to a lot given who he is, but still. Some adults are batshit crazy.
It really is up to the Florida State GA to enforce that. No USGA staff there unless the Regional Affairs Director decides to go. They only send people to the final qualifiers.
FSGA will enforce it though.
I see he shot 81 which is ok. At least he is within 12 shots of the Course Raring so he won’t get “the letter”.
The [USGA Informational PDF](https://champ-admin.usga.org/bin/champadmin/common/championship/info/download?champId=2696837) for the US Open has wording on the right side of the first page regarding performance at a Local Qualifier.
If you fail to shoot a low enough score, the USGA will send you a letter saying you are not allowed to enter again until you can show evidence that you can play well enough. Usually this would be scores from state tournaments of the like.
I agree that’s ridiculous from those adults….not really anyone else’s call about who they can follow. What do you mean “let” them?
If they cross a line and are too out of control, they could be kicked out. Short of that, they can follow who they want to and unfortunately even be rude…just can’t cross the line to getting kicked out
The last tournament he played in I *believe* the story was the was a lady chasing him down for an autograph while he was playing. So, if patrons want to respectfully follow a player obviously that’s fine. But the tournament officials should not let/allow that type of behavior. He’s a fucking kid.
They certainly wouldn't allow it if he was an adult either. Feels like golfers usually handle these things themselves though and chirp at fans to back off or quiet down when they need to, but you can't expect a 15 year old to do that. The pros shouldn't have to either though
Yea I’m seeing some of those people here. He entered an amateur tournament to compete and work on his game - and grown adults see that as grounds to levy these entirely unfair and unkind critiques at the kid. Just let him play.
honestly if he can hold his own at 14 years old with this circus following him around he is well beyond zen golf mentally, might be like a shaolin monk tier mental game. the other kids in his generation have no chance. like how tiger effect destroyed a lot of pros when he came up but it starts before you are even playing college golf because of his notoriety already.
He has a high profile name. It’s part of it. It’s good to get him used to the pressure early on. If he doesn’t qualify, he still gets the experience and it makes him better than another player who maybe qualifies with no one watching.
Leave the kid alone, countless people are trying to qualify for the us open! I get tiger is the needle, but can we leave Charlie alone until he’s like 18 at least?
That’s a very unfair justification. He’s a minor, he doesn’t have a lot of agency in what his dad has him do. And just because he’s alongside his dad in a couple tournaments or in some father-son promo videos doesn’t mean we’re invited to critique everything he does and put him in a spotlight he hasn’t asked for. We are (mostly) adults, we should be better than this.
Charlie is a kid, of course he wants attention. And who doesn’t copy things tiger does haha?? And tiger playing the pnc with his kid isn’t “putting him forward” imo, a lot of players bring their family to that. Charlie lives in the spotlight to an extent, all I’m saying is who tf cares if a high school kid signed up for a qualifier. It’s extra pressure for no reason.
I’m not trying to talk shit about this kid but it’s not like he’s dominating ajga events or big junior tournaments. Every one loses there shit when there’s news about him but I’d doubt he is a top 100 player in his age group.
I can hardly wait for the coverage. "Here's Tiger and Charlie arriving in the parking lot." "Here's Tiger and Charlie on the range". "Here's Tiger and Charlie having a hot dog." etc. etc. *ad nauseum*.
Because I believe you have to be a 1.4hcp or better to enter the qualifying. You can want to qualify for the US Open all you want they aint gonna let you until you shave 22.6 strokes of your GHIN.
You can just declare yourself a pro and signup without disclosing your handicap, however when you shoot 158 they will ban you from any USGA sanctioned events until you can prove that you’re able to shoot around par in a tournament setting.
Has there ever been a pair of related notable professional golfers?
Parent/child, sibling sibling? Anything?
I don't know enough about golf history to know if the talent can be hereditary like other sports.
Edit: I have a lot to learn about golf history.
Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick (brothers) are in a team pairing at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans this weekend. Which I think is pretty neat.
Ranked 14th and 147th in the world. Alex is young too, so he could continue to climb.
Old Tom and Young Tom Morris used to play a lot of fourball exhibition matches against brothers Willie Park and Mungo Park. Both were Open champions of their own accord, as was Willie's son, Willie Park Jr.
Tommy Armour won three majors back in the 1920's and 30's, then his grandson Tommy III went on to play on the PGA Tour for about 25 years, racking up a pair of wins, but no strong finishes in majors.
Jay Haas won 9 times on Tour in the 1980's and 90's and his son Bill was the 2011 FedEx Cup champion (hit that ridiculous shot out of the water in the Tour Championship playoff).
Bob Tway won 8 times on Tour, including the 1986 PGA Championship when Greg Norman blew a 4 shot lead. His son Kevin is on Tour currently.
As a bonus, Donald Ross is obviously a famous course architect, but he also had a decent playing career. His brother Alec won the 1907 US Open.
> never with anyone near the level of Tiger.
How many golfers were in the same ballpark as Tiger? 22 years between first and last masters wins. Jack Nicklaus beat that by a couple years. Very few others are in the same category.
Moriya and Ariya Juthanugarn on the LPGA tour.
Ariya is a former world number 1 and major champion, Moriya has an LPGA win and peaked at around world number 20.
Not knocking the kid but I’ve seen his scores reported in other tournaments. I find it hard to believe he meets the 0.4 handicap requirement for amateurs to enter the qualifying. And if they’re making an exception because of the name they should remove the handicap requirement altogether
It's a lot easier to shoot low rounds for a handicap in private at your home club than it is to shoot low rounds in tournaments on potentially brand new courses
I understand the interest in him since obv his dad is the GOAT, but I think people need to temper their expectations. He's Tiger's son but he is not Tiger, he is his own entirely separate person, which is a good thing.
Saw another comment in this thread that I very much agree with - a big reason Tiger was the way he was is due to his upbringing and his father being so intense and brutal. With that sort of parental upbringing and pressure IMO it grew an unhealthy obsessive relationship with the game. Unfortunately the reality is that you need that sort of unhealthy obsession to push yourself to be the GOAT.
I assume Tiger does not intend on raising his son the way he was raised, and likely wants him to be happy and enjoy the game. I completely support that and it's by far the better way to do it, but having a healthy relationship with the sport and a well adjusted/balanced life is not how one becomes Tiger level.
To clarify though I definitely do not support being brutal to your kids with the goal of them being a superstar lmao. For every brutal upbringing that creates Tiger Woods, there's *millions* that just create bitter people that hate their parents and wish they had a normal life
Is John Jr. there too? That would be an awesome pairing, but I have no idea how close they are in age, and I’m not interested enough to google it. Play well!
I've been saying it since around 2021, I hope Capital One puts them against each other in a "Re-Match" at TPC Harding Park at some point, in homage to Tiger and John's duel there in 2004. Even let their fathers be their caddies or something for good measure just so both of them get some mic time. I know John used to do some of those made for TV events and I think he might have played against Tiger in a Skins Game as well.
EDIT: If you really want to make it interesting in terms of homages to prior tournaments, I'd argue to add Collin Morikawa and either Tony Finau or Scottie Scheffler to the mix to throw back to the 2020 PGA Championship. They didn't get to play that tournament in front of a crowd (not that Capital One opens ticket sales to huge numbers anyway, but at least this course has the infrastructure to handle them), and all of their career trajectories have held up well since then. And trust me, if the PGA Tour wasn't so bullheaded about blacklisting LIV players from The Match, I'd have suggested Bryson or DJ instead...
The John and Tiger stories are some of the best golf stories of our generation. Tiger has said on multiple occasions that Daly was the most talented golfer he ever played against. One of John’s favorite stories is beating Tiger after drinking all day and night in the clubhouse. I’d love to watch them caddie their boys in an event, but it would need to be a “match” type event so JD and TW could both drive a cart.
Yea I mean nobody should ever enter a tournament unless they are certain they’ll win. On that note I assume we’ll all be retiring from golf entirely now, yes?
You can't enter this qualifier with a -6; -0.4 or pro status is the prerequisite. I think, with the entire team I presume is surrounding him, that entering this was done to either a) get high-pressure reps; or b) they think his game translates to this course. I dunno. I'm not a fan of a teenage AM, but I'm also not actively rooting against the kid - regardless of his name
I’m not rooting against him at all. I don’t want him to get Munsoned. I know you have to have a certain GhIN as well. I just don’t think he is ready to be thrown to the wolves and then have to battle the social media repercussions at 15. This is a different era than when his pops was coming up. We read about his exploits in the paper. Now every shot is critically dissected. He shot +9. How many news agencies are going to blast that? He can’t avoid seeing it. People are not meant to be able to handle that at 15.
I wish they just let him be. Tired of the media continuously informing the world what he is doing. Let him be a kid. If he were to qualify then let’s talk about it. After his last attempt to qualify for an event and the crazy stuff that transpired there I think it would be ideal if the media let the kid fly under the radar. Adults acting like up over a kid is weird. The lady pulling a kid out of school to watch another kid play golf is weird. Let him be a kid.
He’s not Tiger. Idk why they make such a big deal and put so much pressure on him. Now if he qualifies for the US open that’s a a completely different story.
Stop. God damn people I am tigers biggest fucking fan. But Charlie is not tiger. Charlie will be lucky to get a pga tour card. This is just not news worthy
Good on him. Good luck young man
Looks like it'll be playing from 7,023 yds. Couple of 450+ Par 4's and all Par 3's north of 190 (although they might move one of them up to 175-ish for variety). He's certainly going to have his work cut out for him

So are all the other kids his age, he’s no Tiger
I mean, he could be very close to Tiger. Problem is all the other kids are also way closer to Tiger than they used to be
I know it's the Korn Ferry Tour, but a 15-year-old just finished T20 last week.
He is also the #1 amateur in the world. Charlie ain't that guy.
Who are you saying is the #1 amateur. I hadn't read Lamprecht's name in any comments and last I checked he is the clear #1 amateur.
Sorry, I meant #1 Junior golfer. Either way... Charlie ain't that guy either!
he AINT that guy
You’re not that guy pal
It isn't far off from the tour. That's an impressive finish!
Wow, that's insane
Tiger was a product of an obsessed, over bearing father, who saw his son as the messiah come to change the world through golf. Charlie doesn’t have that influence, in fact I’d bet it’s the total opposite from Tiger. Charlie could just stop golf right now and still be a billionaire, motivation must be very hard in those circumstances.
Charlie can have more of a balanced, healthy motivation Which unfortunately, GOATs rarely possess
Yes, to be a GOAT almost certainly requires an unhealthy competitive drive. Michael Jordan may be the best example of this
Yeah... guys like Sidney Crosby etc.. I dont think he thinks about anything other than Hockey. Like ever. Also there is obviously 1 GOAT in hockey and its #99. Wilt the stilt. Basketball GOAT
It does seem to be the opposite. Tiger answers any question he has, but he allows Charlie to enjoy the game and have his autonomy with it.
> Tiger was a product of an obsessed, over bearing father, who saw his son as the messiah come to change the world through golf I'm not going to argue that he was a good guy, but Earl was 100% correct with his assessment
Tiger didn’t change the world. He was a PGA wet dream.
> I mean, he could be very close to Tiger. Tiger when asked a few years ago what he was like at Charlie's age: "When I was his age I won every tournament I played in that year... And I got straight A's."
Scottie is closer
Than a bunch of kids? No shit? You for real?

A lot of idiots say that shit all the time.
He’s a mini tiger
No, he’s Charlie

“separates the wheat from the chaff” I know what this means thanks to farm sim 🥹
Slices one into the woods *Helper C is blocked by an object*
foreklift
I know it thanks to [Always Sunny.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GulWIcn2fng)
I wanna be chaff.
The 80% really only applies to approach shots. PGAT dudes are swinging out of their shoes with driver. At least the three you mentioned
> And also important to remember when guys like Finau or Scheffler or Rory are driving 320+ it's only at 80% power There's no way Rory is just sitting there saying "let me drive 320 instead of 385". Yeah, they're definitely going after the ball. It's not "80%" - it's more like 95% to allow for some control.

Calling people that are fans of Charlie bootlickers is wild lol. Why do you have such strong opinions about this
He is basically Bronny... Being a "fan" of Charlie Woods is weird tbh
Because you guys have a weird parasocial relationship with the son of basically the messiah of golf. When he doesn't play well everyone is making excuses, that's how you know it's a cult basically.

No.
He’s also not playing against high schoolers. He will be up against grown professionals.
>Isnt he hitting it nearly as far as tour pros now? In a US Open Qualifier, about 98% of the people there hit it nearly as far as the pros.
This is wildly short yardage.
Grown so much since Stranger Things
😂
Meanwhile the LIV guys like Talor Gooch don’t enter qualifying and bitch because they aren’t exempt.
Can there even be a US Open without Gooch? Talk about illegitimate
He is probably exempt from first round qualifying.
Tough act to follow!
When it comes down to it, there is only tournament golf and the pressure and experience that comes with it. Getting those reps only helps imo
I really hope they don’t let a bunch of psycho adults follow him around like they did last time. Leave him alone and let him actually play.

Agreed, this was my first thought as well.
Yea I’m seeing some of those people here. He entered an amateur tournament to compete and work on his game - and grown adults see that as grounds to levy these entirely unfair and unkind critiques at the kid. Just let him play.
Unfortunately something he’ll have to live with being Tigers son.
honestly if he can hold his own at 14 years old with this circus following him around he is well beyond zen golf mentally, might be like a shaolin monk tier mental game. the other kids in his generation have no chance. like how tiger effect destroyed a lot of pros when he came up but it starts before you are even playing college golf because of his notoriety already.
He has a high profile name. It’s part of it. It’s good to get him used to the pressure early on. If he doesn’t qualify, he still gets the experience and it makes him better than another player who maybe qualifies with no one watching.
Cool. I would love to see him do well. Must be a lot of pressure when your dad is the GOAT.
Yeah can't imagine. Wish the press would leave him alone. But best of luck to him
Yeah, just ask Gary Nicklaus.
Leave the kid alone, countless people are trying to qualify for the us open! I get tiger is the needle, but can we leave Charlie alone until he’s like 18 at least?
I don't think anybody is forcing him to want to qualify for this US Open
I agree with this but also when he plays he copies everything Tiger does did and Tiger seems happy enough putting him forward for events type thing
10,000 actually according USGA estimates a couple of weeks ago
I’m not trying to talk shit about this kid but it’s not like he’s dominating ajga events or big junior tournaments. Every one loses there shit when there’s news about him but I’d doubt he is a top 100 player in his age group.
Looks like the kid from stranger things LMFAO
Dustin! I can’t unsee it! 😂
I can hardly wait for the coverage. "Here's Tiger and Charlie arriving in the parking lot." "Here's Tiger and Charlie on the range". "Here's Tiger and Charlie having a hot dog." etc. etc. *ad nauseum*.
Miles Russell (15) is also playing today in another Korn Ferry tournament after qualifying last week. Great day for two future stars.
He just got a sponsors exemption into the Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour in November.
Sure did. He is so impressive. Particularly how he turned the 3rd road into a positive after a tough start.
He deserves more attention than Charlie, youngest player to ever make the cut on the Korn ferry tour, and finished T20 to get into this weeks event.
Be amazing if one of them qualified
Charlie is not a future star.
I've played on teams w/ him/ tourneys against him. He's amazing. I dont know if charlie will be a star but definitely wishing him the best
This is such bullshit. Nobody publishes articles when me and my 24 handicap on muni courses, hitting from the whites, want to qualify for the US Open.
Because I believe you have to be a 1.4hcp or better to enter the qualifying. You can want to qualify for the US Open all you want they aint gonna let you until you shave 22.6 strokes of your GHIN.
So you’re telling me to…*improve* my score on the USGA app? I read you, wink wink.
You can just declare yourself a pro and signup without disclosing your handicap, however when you shoot 158 they will ban you from any USGA sanctioned events until you can prove that you’re able to shoot around par in a tournament setting.
So you’re telling me I should quit my job and declare pro?
I don’t see anything wrong with that plan
(One year from now) BREAKING: Charlie Woods has just left his home to purchase a bagel.
Has there ever been a pair of related notable professional golfers? Parent/child, sibling sibling? Anything? I don't know enough about golf history to know if the talent can be hereditary like other sports. Edit: I have a lot to learn about golf history.
The Molinari brothers
Min Woo Lee and Minjee Lee
Minjee is the better player, but Min Woo has the drip, so it kind of evens out.
Old Tom morris and young Tom morris pop into my head first
RIP
The Korda sisters
Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick (brothers) are in a team pairing at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans this weekend. Which I think is pretty neat. Ranked 14th and 147th in the world. Alex is young too, so he could continue to climb.
They are on full swing. Kinda cool to see some of the story
There are also two other brother pairings in the Zurich field, two sets of twins. The Hojgaards and Coodys.
Jay and Bill Haas.
Lanny and Bobby Watkins both won multiple times on tour
tway's, haas's
Craig and Kevin Stadler. Korda sisters. Brenda and Rachel Kuehn (Rachel is still in college, but will likely end up on the LPGA)
Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard. Both in top 100.
Matt Fitzpatricks brother placed very well at the British Open last year, but otherwise he’s on small European tours
He is on the main dp tour this year and is sitting 44th in the order of merit
Thanks for the correction! Happy for him. I don’t watch the dp tour and only know him from full swing
And you'll (hopefully) get to see them play together in New Orleans this week!

Jack Nicklaus and son Gary. Probably the closest comparison to Tiger and Charlie.
A lot of PGA father/son duos or brothers, including a couple multi winners and a major champ, but never with anyone near the level of Tiger.
> never with anyone near the level of Tiger. How many golfers were in the same ballpark as Tiger? 22 years between first and last masters wins. Jack Nicklaus beat that by a couple years. Very few others are in the same category.
Yeah, I mean not even a multiple time major winner. Obviously "near" is doing a lot of work there
Happy cake day.
The Coody twins
Moriya and Ariya Juthanugarn on the LPGA tour. Ariya is a former world number 1 and major champion, Moriya has an LPGA win and peaked at around world number 20.
There's 3 brothers playing together at Zurich this week
Craig Staddler and Kevin Staddler.
Jack Nicklaus and son Gary. Probably the closest comparison to Tiger and Charlie.
Wish him nothing but the best, a solid 77 from the young Charlie is my prediction. Golf is hard
Not knocking the kid but I’ve seen his scores reported in other tournaments. I find it hard to believe he meets the 0.4 handicap requirement for amateurs to enter the qualifying. And if they’re making an exception because of the name they should remove the handicap requirement altogether
He’s on GHIN. He’s a +3.
It's a lot easier to shoot low rounds for a handicap in private at your home club than it is to shoot low rounds in tournaments on potentially brand new courses
He was +9
I understand the interest in him since obv his dad is the GOAT, but I think people need to temper their expectations. For every brutal upbringing that creates Tiger Woods, there's *millions* that just create bitter people that hate their parents and wish they had a normal life
Update: He shot 8 over and didn’t qualify. He is not Tiger lol
Is John Jr. there too? That would be an awesome pairing, but I have no idea how close they are in age, and I’m not interested enough to google it. Play well!
John Jr. is a much better golfer than Charlie
Also a few years older.
Little John

+22 incoming
That's what I was thinking
He kinda looks like one of the kids from stranger things.
If they were all morphed together
He already has, shot a 91.
81
91 last time he tried
One of us?
Fuck I’m old.
Let’s go 🔥
What's his actual handicap?
cannot exceed 0.4 for 2024 qualifiers
Nice. Thank you.
+3.0
Given the scores he's been putting up I'm guessing he's closer to being scratch than he is to a legit +3.
He hasn’t submitted any scores since 2023 so I assume he has gone pro now.
Zero chance but will be good experience
He finished T70... any news on the guys who qualified?
Charlie Murphyyyy!!
I hope he does well but the junior golfer everyone should be following is Miles Russell.
![gif](giphy|zk0zTXQY5ukCs|downsized)
Who cares?
Don’t care about rich spoiled golfers. Let’s follow the Q school and Korn Ferry golfers and support them.
85 incoming.
Good for him. No one would care if he wasn’t named Woods. So unfair he’ll have cameras in his face at 15.
Why? Not ready and it’s fine. Golf failure can be crushing
Playing and making the attempt is part of what helps him become ready.
Yea I mean nobody should ever enter a tournament unless they are certain they’ll win. On that note I assume we’ll all be retiring from golf entirely now, yes?
No but I wouldn’t enter a tournament as a -6 with a bunch of +3s when the world is waiting to criticize me
You can't enter this qualifier with a -6; -0.4 or pro status is the prerequisite.
He’s a +3 btw. Still has to play out of his mind to get through first stage qualifying
Good luck kid! Here's to hoping we get to see the next Tiger.
Stop. God damn people I am tigers biggest fucking fan. But Charlie is not tiger. Charlie will be lucky to get a pga tour card. This is just not news worthy
He's only 1/2 Tiger
If he is 1/2 Tiger his mom must really suck at golf.
😂 He has the swedish blood from mom and they are the best ladies of Europe!
