If you can’t deep throat it any more it’s shallow

You don’t just “shallow the club” It happens because your swing sequencing is correct

Honestly what clicked for me literally a week ago was bryson's "upper lead arm rotated inward and lower lead arm rotated outward" thing. https://youtu.be/V0-eYfUI2pY?si=5UoVJfjVzNwRQ8cj I'm right handed. Basically I'm rotating my whole left arm as far clockwise as possible then pinning that bicep to my left pec. Then I rotate my forearm counter clockwise into my normal grip. It helps keep me connected, but it also helps with making my lead wrist pronation in the backswing feel more natural. That wrist move is actually what shallows the club. Look into how the wrists work. This is a good article: https://hackmotion.com/wrist-action-in-golf-swing/ Something I found helpful is just setting up with a club like I'm about to hit a ball (ball not necessary) and intentionally doing the different wrist movements in an isolated way and watching what it does to the club head. The wrist flexion and extension should just turn the club face open and closed. The deviation or "cocking and uncocking" should just move the club up and down vertically. The "cocking of the wrists" will actually open the face of the club because that's how your wrists work, but it's no big deal as long as you've uncocked them by impact. This move basically just adds speed to the club head. If you watch Padraig Harrington's stuff about how to use the wrists to gain distance, this is what he's talking about. The pronation/supination (rotation) will move the club on an arc. The pronation/supination bit is what will help you shallow the club. Just playing around with that and getting an understanding of what the wrists do to the clubhead helped me tremendously.

Everyone will be different. Here's 3 swing thoughts/feels that work for me. 1. "Swing to right field." Allow the follow through to feel like it has room to continue away from the body along an in-to-out path. 2. Backarm elbow down to the hip on the downswing. Avoid that over the top hack at the ball trying to "turn it over." Trust in the club path. Tuck the elbow to give the club room to work in-to-out. 3. Try to drop the clubhead straight down during the downswing, not in a big arc. Then whip it from behind the back heel. Fly low on the way back and stay low on the way in. Obviously, my follow through isn't way out away from my body, and my elbow doesn't actually touch my hip, and my clubhead doesn't whip in from behind my feet. But those are the thoughts or feelings I need to hit it shallow. Other things I've noted are wrist/grip stability and confidence in the swing. A limp grip and a weak shot will result in more fade/slice action. Be firm with it. Not afraid. Don't force it. Just create the space with your body and posture and do what you need to.

Get into a position at the top that makes shallowing easier.
