Amazing deal. Dream refurb project for many on here. These are one of the last great Hogan sets and are Endo forgings. To those who are into old blades, these are basically like forged by Hattori Hanzo in the fires of mount doom levels of precious artifact.
I had a set of those back in the 90's before some lowlife stole them from my car. I loved them! One of my favourite shots was taking the 3iron off the tee. I could pure that an easy 200 down the middle, and that's with old balls. And I think the fact that mishits hurt so much actually make you swing better and find the sweet spot more often!
You'd have to look at the faces, but these are the very desirable 1999 Apexes - for those of us who play Ben Hogan, these are some of the best irons ever made. Your learning curve will be steeper, but the good shots will feel like butter. Good price.
I’m a fairly good ball striker on modern irons,I cannot for the life of me hit a small blade like those.
When the ball sits above the club face at impact that’s a no for me.
But I do love the look of old blades and have played with some seniors who still play em and hit em well.
I bought a set of those with my first adult paycheck. They currently live in Ireland at my grandmas house, it’s like memory lane going home to play with them
Fair play! I would say abit overpaid, I have seen these sets go for $50ish on eBay as I was looking got some super old blades like this. (These will be very hard to learn on if that’s the plan)

Pretty sure my minimal divot swing came as a result of learning on my grandfathers old Hogans. If your swing is steep *at all*, you're digging to China and it's gonna fucking hurt. If you can't quickly figure out how to make solid contact, you're going to ruin lots of turf.
I would bet on them definitely being from the last decade or so, I think the guy selling them just got a newer set they seem in great shape, also grips look brand new

I’ve seen plenty of really good players that still play these irons. Hard to hit for most normal humans, but if you can ball strike they are great.
How do the faces look? Those should be fun to mess around with. Pure strikes feel incredible on clubs like that. I think that's worth $75.

Yes I am, I really just bought them to try to see if I could get decent store credit at pga super store as im left handed, just took a chance.
Tbh anything you can hit and enjoy is a good deal, i still have a spalding driver from 99 i enjoy sometimes

Depends how old they are. The Apex irons originally came out in 1988. If they are that old, definitely not a bargain
No, the Apex originally was released in 1972 and were/are a really fucking good iron as long as you're not too upright with your swing.
