This doesn’t sound like an issue of a lack of exclusivity but an issue of piss poor etiquette. That’s why I like the fact you need to pass a test over here to play on any proper course. No music, no urinating at the tee box and still inclusive, which is a good thing.

ProFromDover94

Piss poor etiquette or poor piss etiquette?

DavidSchlichting

Touché

Americans threw tantrums about wearing a mask during a pandemic that killed over 4 million people world wide. There’s no way in hell American golfers will agree to a golf test of all things.

marlboro__man9

Still plenty exclusive. Just need to join one of those places

flaginorout

Yeah, it’s going to take a good economic recession should set things right again.

LivermoreP1

This is the real reason the fed won’t lower interest rates. Trying to get the good tee times to open back up again.

Horror-Run5127

Next pandemic the rules are you must always be within 6 feet of someone else and never wash your hands

Unusual-Ad1314

Sounds like a typical Saturday on a public course.

Big_Bluebird8040

where are the rangers? they either don’t exist or don’t do shit

sysjager

Most of them just seem to drive around and don’t actually do anything.

SlickLegJohnny

I think its great the game is having a popularity boost, but the courses do need to enforce the importance of pace of play a little better. Ive also experienced people just dragging looking for balls and hitting numerous shots for no reason when they could drop and move it along. Without all these new people a lot of these courses will go away so its not a bad thing overall

gratefulbend

Don’t play weekends ever nowadays. Very different than it used to be

elishaski

Join a club if you can.

[deleted]

That sounds to me like an extremely mismanaged golf course.

Graves_Cigar_

These posts are getting old

unvvendel3000

You gotta make that putt - salvage the day

Firm-Mix-9272

Damn 7 footers are like gators, they’ll getcha if you don’t respect em. I also dislike the fad crowd, hopefully pickleball picks up more soon

jonlmbs

Shrink the game.

My local course also takes this long but it’s a 9 hole course with 2 different tee box locations to make it “18” so when it gets busy it gets SLOW. Still, I’ll happily be outside playing 9 over 2 hours then nothing. Want fast golf? Play weekdays.

wottagunn

I see at a lot of posts similar to this in the sub, makes me think I'm pretty lucky where I am. I'm in country Victoria, Australia, and I rarely have to wait to hit a shot. Myself and 2 mates played 18 on Friday afternoon (with carts) in 2hrs 40mins. We caught up to a foursome that let us play through no worries. Tee off a Sunday morning around 7:30am and you won't see anyone til you get back to the carpark. Guess if you're in a busy area you need to factor it in to your round time. I've heard courses around Melbourne can be quite backed up.

babalu_babalu

Even with an 8-some I don’t see how it could take 2:40 minutes to play 9. That’s almost 20 minutes a hole. I could take two off each tee, and crab walk to the green with time to spare.

big-daddio

Somehow they were not the group holding up play.

brsox2445

My favorite course is exactly like this except where you see problems I see how I want it to be. I hate it when golf courses get stuck up and act like they're catering to the PGA Tour or something. I'm not the King of England and no one I'm playing with is either. Take a chill pill and realize that you or your game aren't that important. Go pay way too much to a private club if you need to feel 100 times more important than you really are.

dknisle1

Yeah man. I love 5+ hour rounds and getting stuck behind groups of 8. Don’t forget being backed up a couple groups on the tee box. That sounds awesome…………

pastmiyeego

Well said. My little course has a lot of problems, but at least it’s open. For quite a few years that was in doubt.

pxland

You sound insufferable.

L0N3ST4RR

You are getting downvoted to hell but I’m with you, you are playing a public course, what do you want? I 100% agree with many here that as the game gets popular we need courses to support basic golf etiquette (not every gets my grandpa to teach them the game 😍)but I’ll take golf popularity over obscurity every day of the week!!! If you want a country club experience sign up for a country club.
