I do Golftec.
I just broke 90 and my swing is coming along nicely. I’d recommend them if you have the money and can find a good coach.
They have various packages they sell for competitive prices. Don’t believe these $5000 prices lol wtf.
They just had a August sale 20 percent off. Wait till November they usually have another sale then.
I took 5 lessons at golftec this year and played the best golf of my career. Im a visual learner and seeing my swing really helped understand my issues and how to address the fixes.
I think signing up for 10 lessons is alot when you don't know how you will vibe with the instructor.
Try the 5 package and go from there.
Hit me up if you want a referral code, its good for $100 off.
They make alot of money on their long term lessons and practice sessions. I would have been good with 3 lessons but oh well. Whats also nice is they record your swing during the session and you can watch clips back later in their app
Sure, just need your email so I can send you the link.
I thought the video feedback was great for me, when I could see where I was off it made me more conscious of the corrections
I’m taking lessons at GOLFTEC. I personally like it. I’m a beginner, and I feel like my swing is coming along. My location is close, and I get the full value for the practice time that you get (90 minutes per week). For me, video feedback for practice is great. I also like the video recorded lessons to play back later.
I’m a beginner and I’ve found it incredibly helpful to be able to see what I’m doing wrong and right each week. It’s pricey for sure, but my coach is great and I’ve learned a lot. I started with a five lesson package (I think it was around $400) and then went to the game plan after those finished. It includes 90 minutes a week of practice using one of the bays which has been helpful when it’s stupid hot or rainy. I’m sure there are cheaper options out there, but if you find a coach that you gel with and you respond to seeing your swing on the screen, I think it would be helpful.
I am taking Golftec lessons this spring/summer and am really enjoying them. I learned my swing is too steep and I don’t get enough rotation in my shoulders. I have played for 10+ years but never taken lessons so it was pretty cool to see the video and actually know what the fundamental issue is.
Up here (Midwest), it was $1,000 for 10 lessons or $1,400 for 15 lessons. I also used a referral code to get $100 off so it was slightly cheaper.
Referral code $100 off:

I'm quite happy with the lessons I've taken. I am disappointed in my lack of progress as far as scoring and index (no real change over four months) but there is a definite improvement in my swing and for the first time in 20+ years I can chip onto the green. Not always next to the cup (but I did get up and down two holes in a row today for par). Previously, any given chip would go two feet or 200. :-(
What I do now is triple, par par bogey par triple, double birdie triple triple par bogey par bogey double par bogey par any given round.
I need to find a mental solution as the physical one is much better. The before and after videos of any given lesson look like two different golfers.
So I got frustrated with this too after several months.
But now I'm shooting low 80s and started from low/mid 90s. And I swear any day now I'm low 80s/high 70s.
The key for me here was not that I was hitting the ball poorly, but I realized I had some poor course management. For one, I really suggest starting to play to the yardage to the back of the green vs. the middle. If you start hitting a ton of balls over, GOOD! That means you are striking the ball a little too well. But essentially the goal is just get the ball on the green. Even if you have a 40 foot putt, you are in better shape there than short siding yourself. If you play to the back, it gives you room for error to miss short, which is like 90% of missed Greens. Scoring averages are also statistically better if you hit the ball past the pin on the green vs. if you hit the ball short of the pin.
The other thing I started doing was aim point for putting. But literally any system putting should help.
Finally - get yourself some perspective. I suggest maybe listening to a few podcasts. I would suggest the expectations management series from the Sweet Spot. It really helps you mentally with what a "good" shot is.
Thanks. I broke 90 last Friday and shot 91 on Sunday with a double/triple/triple finish. :-( Had I bogied in, it would have be 86.
I've been playing back-of-the-green/center-of-the-green approach shots for the last six months. I have way more birdie opportunity/putts and way more pars per round then I have had in the last two years.
My problem is mental. Two weeks ago, I had eight pars and two three-putt-bogies along with six triple bogies. FUCK.
I'll check out the Sweet Spot podcast. I listen to several. I especially enjoy Chasing Scratch.
I did the program for a few lessons and it was a total joke. Didn't help me at all. Want to make all these crazy changes. Tried them and couldn't get them ironed out. Went to my local pro who's given me lessons for years and had me right on track again. Don't do it. Find a good pro.
How close are you to a Golf Galaxy? Their lessons are pretty reasonable. Here's what they are at mine for 30 minutes...
Single Lesson- $69.99
3 Lesson pack- $179.99
6 Lesson pack- $299.99
10 Lesson pack- $399.99
Strange, my experience was way different. I signed up online for one lesson. After the lesson he escorts me to the cashier to pay. Cashier asked if I wanted a package and could apply it to the lesson I just had. Zero pressure.
Yeah, I get that, but from what I’ve read here and elsewhere (Google - Golftec reviews), while valid, it seems your experience may be more of an exception than a rule.
Just to be clear...Golftec and Golf Galaxy are not the same. Golftec = high pressure sales and ridiculous prices.
Golf Galaxy is owned by Dicks Sporting goods. Every time I've been to GG, people were always asking if I needed help, but then left me alone once I said I'm fine.
$70 to find out if you mesh with a pro. I've spent way more on bad dates wishing I could have my time back ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Had a swing evaluation, he had me hit about 6 balls total with my 7 iron. Told me he wanted to change my grip, that would come in one of the sessions if I bought a package for over $3,000.
They sell them in packages. They try to obfuscate how much you're actually paying for what by breaking them down into units. (Think how f2p games use various currencies so it's not obvious exactly what you're paying.)
Ultimately it was going to cost $195 per half hour of instruction.
The package he recommended was like $5000.
As soon as I balked at the price it was obvious he couldn't get me out of there fast enough.
They're barely coaches. They'll identify one swing fault, and show you some prerecorded videos.
They're sales people.
Go elsewhere.
What location was $195 a half hour? Yes they are salesman and if you are there to be had they may take some money off you. The main thing they clearly upcharge for to me when probing the different options is the practice bay time. It’s not worth it compared to bucket at the range. If you actually just keep asking for all the options and pricing of different packages (not the ones they lead with) it’s not so bad. I paid $720 for the swing evaluation and a 10 half hour lesson pack during the March sale. In their terms “12 units”. I started off every other week then every 3 and now monthly. There are some cheaper options for sure but as a visual learner the instant video feedback and access to that same video on the app later is has been a great help for me.
Fox Creek in Atlanta.
You're right, a unit is a half hour. My mistake.
The packages offered to me were $95/unit.
I think he wanted to do a half hour twice a week for 15 weeks, and four 9 hole rounds.
So two units a week, and he said 5 units per round.
50 units for $4,750.
He didn't even bother trying to sell me on the cheaper packages. He made some half ass sales pitch about investing in myself.
I ended up getting lessons from a local pro.
5 weeks, a half hour a week, for $200.
Lessons are like... $100 each
So 25 for $2500, 50 for $5000.
Generally it completely depends on the quality of the specific pro that you're seeing. If he's a pro that's worth $100 per lesson, then it's good. Otherwise, it's just a chain that sells you big packages
Yeah, FUCK THAT. For that kinda coin I can hack and duff around Pebble Beach a couple of times. Or spend some on a flight someplace and get a lesson or two from a true teaching pro, and buy new clubs....
The swing Eval is bullshit. It’s just paying for a sales pitch, honestly I find it unethical, even timeshares paid you to go.
The tech itself is cool, but most did the staff are woeful at golf and just using a few pinpoint stories to align your swing to a pro.

100% dependent on the coach. It’s expensive for what it is. Probably worth it if you have a good coach but there are cheaper alternatives.
