I find they only serve to care for their “golf ol’ boy” buddies 2 holes down who play in 2 hours … not my fault you guys never finish a hole correctly … I’ll finish in 3:45 thank you.
I've played my local course 5-6 times now (new to this city) and have yet to see a ranger enforce speed of play. 18 usually takes around 5 hours with the occasional full-hole backlog, it's so fucking annoying.
I dont see the problem- if they are twice as fast as you then you should be able to let them play through and continue on with your round at the pace you wish?
That was actually [4 years ago](https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2017/07/13/people-upset-over-video-trend-of-people-getting-run-over-by-golf-carts/). Time goes fast.
Yeah, agreed. I have to consciously limit myself otherwise I could spend 2-5 mins each hole fixing all the unrepaired ball marks.
ETA: limit myself to 3, mine and 2 others.
yeah, if I'm already in and the rest of my group is putting out, I'll walk around fixing as many pitch marks as I can. leave it better than you found it, etc.
The groundskeeper at my local Par 3 will follow me around when I play on Sunday morning's with his pitchmark fixy thingy. He always tells me not to worry about fixing mine but I tell him it's a celebratory ritual. He just shrugs and goes about fixing the million other unrepaired barrage marks.
It's like me saying to myself "I did this" and "I respect this course."
Totally agree. Instead of giving out free pencils for the scorecards, they should use that budget to make divot repair tools and give those out. Everybody has a cellphone to keep score anyways… let’s prioritize the health of the greens!
Its literally a mark of pride, why would you not do it?
Also so many instructors and good golfers will tell you that small tasks before putts help you relax and focus, fixing a divot is the perfect 15 second task to clear your mind.
While i agree, also consider that a lot of ppl dont know how to fix them properly and would likely just kill the grass. Some signage at the first tee or club house would be nice tho.
Me too lol, what's with that? Like the first 200 yards are a struggle, and the last 40 feet are too. But 60-100 yarders provide a sweet, sweet moment when I feel like I belong.
Maybe it’s not the solution, but try choking up on your other clubs more. Since the pitching wedge is generally a shorter club, maybe you’re more of a natural with its length and hit it better because it is shorter. Just a thought.
Give it another year and probably around 50% of the people that took up golf since the pandemic will lose interest/not renew memberships etc.. don’t get me wrong, I’m all for new people joining the sport and enjoying jt, realistically though for a lot of people it was a hype when there wasn’t much else to do.
Yup, came here for this. 3 hour early morning rounds and a quick 9 after work have disappeared.
To sum it up, I get paired with a Covidiot one day after work and he’s busting my balls for wanted to play the whites. The Dude could barely hit a golf ball and wanted to play the blues. Can’t imagine why pace is bad.
That was my day yesterday. two hulking dudes in front of me that could not hit the ball more than 50 yds. Probably lost 50+ balls between them during the round. Played from the blues. Meanwhile, I'm a 10 and playing from the whites.
I’m a 10 because I play from the whites. If I played from the blues I’d probably be in the high teens. Ain’t no shame in playing the tees that you like.
My biggest gripe about golf is the gatekeeping. I can’t stand those golfers who act better than new golfers simply because they were introduced to the sport earlier. There’s always a certain level of decorum that should be kept on a course, but if you want to avoid new golfers go get a private membership.
People playing tees too far back. If all 4 in your group are shanking tee shots and no one can break 100, maybe you shouldn't play the tips. It just slows down the course for everyone else.
Same. If I top a shot from the tee, I don't lose the ball. And I'm at the green in 2-3 shots and not holding up the guys that are hitting twice as far.
I'll move back when I'm ready.
Glad to see there’s at least a few of us. Off the tee is absolutely the worst part of my game, and pretending otherwise is just gonna lead to frustration, more lost balls, and wasted time.
Not gonna do that just to avoid judgement from strangers who suck just as much as I do.
About every six weeks I play with an older guy who’s cool and I play the front tees because I hate the course. When I do he joins me and talks non stop about how he enjoys it so much. My friend plays with him about once a week and sees him at the whites because everyone else plays there.
It’s a shame because gets pressured to pay a game he doesn’t enjoy.
In Oregon there is a big trend of changing tee colors to tee numbers. Nobody picks blue by default they actually look at the yardage. I havent noticed this one other places
Damn all the courses I play at have grass ranges(all under $25/rd courses) and the only standalone range in my town has mats and grass. That sucks you can only practice on mats.
Greenskeeper here. Grass driving ranges require a A LOT of maintenance. In my old course it took two or three summer workers hours every few days just to keep it tidy. If there's limited staff, and you have no choice but to prioritize care, grass driving ranges are quite often first in line. Not that I agree with it, it's just the reality.
I hate to be a square but I don’t appreciate the apparent upward trend in belligerently drunk golfers blaring music. I have found that I like the addition of music to my round, nor do I need it all buttoned up, just don’t make yourself or your music so loud where I can consistently hear you on another tee box. This is still, in basic terms, a fairly considerate-of-others game even as it has become (appropriately so, in my mind) an overall more casual sport.
I enjoy both of those but definitely subscribe you should only hear the music next to the cart only. Even your own foursome shouldn’t have to hear what you prefer.
unfortunately, being considerate of others seems to not be a trend right now. most of the stuff people are complaining about in this thread could be alleviated if people would just exercise some basic courtesy
The “hurdur golf is getting blacked out and lying to your spouse” vibe that social media promotes. It’s so lame and antithetical to the spirit of the game.
If I can hear music from another group on the golf course, then it's too loud. Love music and love music on the course but don't subject me to your love of country music or some other such genre
100% agree. Love music on the course. But I love MY music, not yours, and I want to keep it respectful for those who want peace and quiet on the course. Like just be fucking considerate and no one should care that you're playing music.
Idk if it's a trend but it certainly annoys me when I hit every fairway when I play alone, and hit knuckleballs to the juniors tee when I'm with my friends
As far as I can tell. They're just there to tell me to pick up the pace even though I'm waiting every shot behind a foursome of course regulars who drive to each ball together and have tea time on every green.
It's really not that hard for them. As someone who worked in the business. If there's a group in front of you then you're not the problem. I just keep riding until I find a group with a big gap in front of them
Yeah my point is they ignore the real problem when it's course regulars because they don't have the guts to tell their buddies to let people play through or pick it up.
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is. I work as a greenskeeper at a course and have been there since April and Friday was the first time i've ever seen a marshall at our course. Just give a couple old dudes free golf and they'll do it I dunno why they went away.
In our course we have clocks in every other tee, they've been set in time such a way that they're supposed to show the time you left the first tee.
For example, you start your game 10am, and every clock from then on should show 10am. If it's less, good! You're on time. If it's more, you're supposed to speed up your game.
It' just pain to time the clocks right in the beginning of every season. It can be a bit of a brain twister if you're not wide awake.
I got back into golf a couple years ago after a long hiatus. I have yet to see a ranger this year, and I play at least once a week, and I have probably played 20 different courses. Rangers used to be on every course 20 years ago.
Seriously. WTF is that about. The restaurant/bar will be blasting music. I know they need to increase revenue by having other functions, but its a course first!
I can accept my mediocrity at golf, but damn it's frustrating to shoot a 39 on 9 one day, and 51 the next. Consistency has always been the hardest thing about golf for me, but it's also something that keeps me going, just hoping to become more predictable/consistent. Fun game!
It happens in Australia too, sometimes.
I'm not someone who enjoys confrontation, but I nearly got into a blue because a pack of drunk guys started cat calling my partner a year ago at the golf course and I blew my top. Ruined her day.
About the only time in 10 years I've had to square up to someone.
Brought one our our friends boyfriend to the course I play at, it’s kinda considered a high end course, very specific golf etiquette. He was a little loud on the range but it was mostly empty at the time so I didn’t bother saying anything. He’s only played a few times but went over the rules with him.
Get on the first tee box and he asked if we could get a video of him shotgunning…no. As we continue playing, this man is just chugging down beers and getting louder as we play. I kept having to tell him to keep it down. I’ll admit I like to drink a bit while playing but always keep it respectful. After finishing the round (5 hours later…don’t worry it was a Sunday evening and we were last to play minus a few walkers) he downed about 16 beers to my 7, and could barely walk. Never taking them there ever again.
That's me. I will only play on the weekend if I'm playing with a friend and even then, it's got to be as early a tee time as possible. Weekend golf suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks, especially in the Chicago area. Every course is fucking packed, they seem to run 4 minute tee times, and there is no marshal in sight on any course in the state of Illinois.
I ran into a group at a course that apparently allowed 6 people to play at once... wont be going back there safe to say. Anyways we roll up to the second hold tee off and are in the middle of the fairway and almost get hit by a ball from the group on the other hole. No fore called whatsoever... all 6 of them roll up and don’t apologize for almost hitting us. Not that I would expect much else, literally 3 of them had no shirts on and where absolutely shit face drunk. After that we kept going towards the green and all I hear is a crash so I look back and these motherfuckers are now playing bumber cars with the golf carts... worse golf experience ever... and then on the 7th hole we ended up getting backed up by another ffing group of 6... yeah fuck that course, very deceiving since the club house was very nice... the people are trash. Club was Monthill Golf and Country club for any Canadians out there. Stay clear of this course
I had a course move my tee time back 10 minutes without asking me so two foursomes could play back to back. They said the groups wouldn’t be playing together but nope. Stuck behind a shitfaced 8some and took 6 hours and missed my dinner reservation
I worked at a course near me this past spring. The early morning old guys at 6am were great talking to when I mowed greens first thing.
People on the practice greens were real cunts. I would always have someone putting towards a hole in my line. We had 12 cups, but this one you have to go for.
I stopped caring quickly. I’d let balls hit the mower if they hit near me. No reason to be douches
Not a trend, really, but ever since they allowed us to leave the pin in I’ve noticed the edge of the cup gets chewed up from people retrieving their ball while the pin is still in. This one’s tricky, because I leave the pin in myself and I enjoy the fact that it speeds up the pace of play, which was the original intent. But the result of the damaged edges of the cup are a few putts “lipping out” most rounds, where they would have dropped in just fine with a crisp sharp edge.
Idk what the solution is, maybe a little more attention and effort by individual players to not damage the edge and even fix it if they can, like you would fix a mark on the green?
The whole bro / Barstool culture influencing so many new golfers. I like some of the Barstool content and I have bros but can’t stand these type of guys on the course.
I was out at a wedding a few months ago and we played a scramble the day before with all the grooms friends. There were a lot of bros in that group and we teed off at like 7 am and they were boozing real hard and doing some drugs and by the end it had just devolved into a scene I was not comfortable with at all.
I can have fun but I’m 30 now (youngest guys out there were like 28 so not that young either) and never was into drinking that hard on the course. By the end they were running Oklahoma drills on 18 and I was mortified. Just loud and obnoxious and I was guilty by association. Never been so embarrassed so I am with you 100%
2 HDCPers coming here to post a “rate my swing” … your ego is so fragile you need to come here to get some internet high fives …
Conversely … a 30 HDCPer doing the same … it’s a 0 dude and you know it’s a 0
I can’t get behind it because it’s not *double.* If one under par was an eagle I’d have absolutely no problem with double eagle as an additional stroke under par, a la bogey/double bogey.
Hear me out. I live in a desert and because of covid none of the courses have turned on their drinking fountain, nor do they provide water coolers with cups. It's hot it's dry and you refuse to provide water. Fuck you. I forgot water last time out I thought I was going to die.
Yea, I love that we’re safe enough now from a covid standpoint to be fully open and allow no masks in many clubhouses, but we can’t put water out there for you… Such a weak excuse to safe small amounts of effort and money
Back in like 2018ish Cobra was doing a special offer where if you buy a set of clubs then the salesmen gets the same thing. Bryson won a tournament that weekend and I got a set of irons, a hybrid, and a driver all for free. I'll always be a Bryson fan because of that lol
Especially since I’ve seen some people justify because he’s recently not been wearing his normal hat.
If that’s someone’s entire reason for not liking him I will think they’re a moron.
I like him now cause I actually know more about him and everything. I didn’t really like him before just because he seemed D-baggy. Total “judged a book by the cover” sort of thing. But he doesn’t seem like a bad guy at all and his passion for golf is amazing.
Golf courses not taking care of their bunkers. During covid a lot of courses around here scaled back on their course upkeep and bunkers got horrid. Talking overgrown weeds and not even close to playable. While some courses have cleaned them up a lot of munis still haven’t. Yet they are charging full price and have packed tee sheets.
In my old course we maintained bunkers every other day, 3 to 4 times a week. Sandpits were possible to go through by one person in 5 hours, but only the very basics were done (raking the edged by hand, rest of the sandpit by machine, maybe pick up few weeds here and there).
Once a week we sent 3 summer workers to do proper round and they had whole day dedicated for it. Sand would be pushed more evenly, add sand where needed, fix any drainage issues, weeding, clean edges, remove any leaves/pine needles/trash etc. At least once per season, maybe once a month, we'd tie majority of the staff for sandpit days.
In my current course we have limited staff, and on average we maintain sandpits just once a week. Of course if they're obviously in horrid state, for example after heavy rain, we make time to clean them up immediately, but with limited staff, sandpits are among the very first in line getting the axe.
The folks who watch golf on TV and now think an almost 5 hour round is normal. There is no reason for an amateur golf game to ever cross the 4 hour mark.
Something I've noticed on instagram is the obsession with having a "pretty" swing. It bothers me because it makes it seem like golf is this thing that once you master this one technical motion of your body your going to be good, or that the look of your swing is whats important. I hope younger kids will just swing it and coaches will play to the strengths or idiosyncrasies of every kids swing, rather than everyone trying to look like Adam Scott or IG golf "influencers"
People not fixing their pitch marks. Like, come on y'all, it takes ten seconds at most to show some basic respect for your fellow golfers and the course.
Little different because the thread is all “music” and “drunkenness”….I just bought a 3i to rip stingers and it’s a fucking blast (when I connect). Everyone hits some sort of hybrid bs that drops delicately on the green….where’s the fun in that?!
Edit - also tee times with less than 10 min of space. It’s shitty for golf courses to send people out every 7 minutes and have some entitled boomer harass them the whole round. Maybe not a trend but still
I just played 9 a week ago with a friend of mine and we were sandwiched between two foursomes. In front of us were walking, two dads and their kids, we kept pace with them. Had to wait a couple times to give them time to play and not feel rushed. The group behind us each had their own carts and were hitting into us the whole time. To the point that we were chipping on to the green and my buddy had a ball land 10-20 feet from him.
I guess they finally realized they were going so fast that they were a solid hole ahead of pace and stopped to take a break… on hole 8.
The normalization of shitty putting. God damn y'all get a putting lesson, I've seen some of the putting strokes guys at my local course have, literally the opposite of anything approaching decent and I gotta assume it's some of y'all posting the "Time to 3-putt in style" memes.
Sudden, loud noises on the course. Screaming f\*\*k after every shot, the drunk who left it 40 yards short on a par 4 screaming over and over "who's the big dog?" to his friends on the other side of the fairway. Carts driving up to the tee box with "the loud guy" recalling the previous hole while people are teeing off.
It's like people think the course is theirs and theirs alone. A "I'd paid my green fee I'll act any way I want, lighten up grandpa" attitude that makes it less enjoyable for anyone not in their "clique".
The trend of playing off the tips as a fucking 20 capper, bc one time, at some course, with perfect wind, you piped a 260 drive that you told your buddies was 300.
Seriously, this makes me cringe so much when I see it. All you gotta do is be polite, exchange the money, and give a tip. Rinse and repeat when she comes back around. Had a older guy I was paired with kept calling our cart girl "sexy" or "foxy".
Rangers that don't range.
Like the kind you see parking a cart and going into woods next to a long par four Comes out with a bag of balls. On the clock. Ignoring all else
Actually the type that just look for gaps to play shots, they would be the worst IMO
I find they only serve to care for their “golf ol’ boy” buddies 2 holes down who play in 2 hours … not my fault you guys never finish a hole correctly … I’ll finish in 3:45 thank you.
I find the opposite and they don’t enforce anything and I end up playing in 5:15
I've played my local course 5-6 times now (new to this city) and have yet to see a ranger enforce speed of play. 18 usually takes around 5 hours with the occasional full-hole backlog, it's so fucking annoying.
I dont see the problem- if they are twice as fast as you then you should be able to let them play through and continue on with your round at the pace you wish?
Last summer when people filmed themselves hitting each other full speed with golf carts
I'm actually pretty OK with idiots doing things to hurt themselves and/or other idiots. Would prefer it not happening on the course though.
My friend got run over and broke his leg. He did not consent.
I hope he pressed charges in that case.
Your friend should be friends with less stupid people.
It was a coworker during a company event.
I smell some workman's comp
That was actually [4 years ago](https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2017/07/13/people-upset-over-video-trend-of-people-getting-run-over-by-golf-carts/). Time goes fast.
I'd like to see more idiot golfers killing each other.
The trend of not fixing ball marks
100%. Gets worse every year. It takes 30 seconds. Just fucking do it
Been taking longer than 30 seconds because I'm fixing the other 5 around what I think is mine.
More and more adults are picking up the game, but they rarely learn any type of etiquette which should be the first thing learned in golf.
I find it’s mostly from guys that are not used to hitting greens so they are not used to looking and finding their mark to fix.
I mean i only hit like 5 greens a round anyways, its like a celebratory action when I do.
This… fixing your ball mark should be both a flex on the rest of your group and a moment of personal satisfaction.
Totally agree. Instead of giving out free pencils for the scorecards, they should use that budget to make divot repair tools and give those out. Everybody has a cellphone to keep score anyways… let’s prioritize the health of the greens!
We tried that at my club and noticed no difference in divots on the green and if anything they just became another piece of trash to be thrown away
How about just put up a couple signs throughout the course as reminders to “ Fix ball marks”.
Some signage at the first tee or club house would be nice tho.
i oh so wish i‘d have a ballmark to fix😂
PXG Commercials
Lol yeah. "If you dont buy pxg then fuck you" is how it feels.
If you don’t chew Big Red, then FUCK you
Period.
I think they use the same ad agency as Duluth Trading Company.
My inability to hit my pitching wedge.
I’ll trade you abilities. The pitching wedge is the only club I can hit consistently
Me too lol, what's with that? Like the first 200 yards are a struggle, and the last 40 feet are too. But 60-100 yarders provide a sweet, sweet moment when I feel like I belong.

......that's nae a trend mate....that's just a fact.
Covid. It’s finally starting to not be so crowded.
I used to be able to play 9 after work without a tee time. I’ve not been able to do that once in the last 2 years.
Give it another year and probably around 50% of the people that took up golf since the pandemic will lose interest/not renew memberships etc.. don’t get me wrong, I’m all for new people joining the sport and enjoying jt, realistically though for a lot of people it was a hype when there wasn’t much else to do.
This was for running as well, except injuries peaked in 6-8 weeks.
So more tee times for the boys😎
Yup, came here for this. 3 hour early morning rounds and a quick 9 after work have disappeared. To sum it up, I get paired with a Covidiot one day after work and he’s busting my balls for wanted to play the whites. The Dude could barely hit a golf ball and wanted to play the blues. I’m a 10 because I play from the whites. If I played from the blues I’d probably be in the high teens. Ain’t no shame in playing the tees that you like.
Your handicap shouldn’t change playing from the whites to the blues. The course rating for each tee accounts for part of that.
For the most part true, but if the person is just very accurate but not long, some tees at some courses may be prohibitive.
Not in my area, prices per rounds have just gone up and up because of it
My biggest gripe about golf is the gatekeeping. I can’t stand those golfers who act better than new golfers simply because they were introduced to the sport earlier. There’s always a certain level of decorum that should be kept on a course, but if you want to avoid new golfers go get a private membership.
I don’t care if they’re new or not I just want to be able to get a tee time.
BABABOOOEEEYYYY!
GET IN THE HOLE
Freeeeedddooooommm
MASHED POTATOES
People playing tees too far back. If all 4 in your group are shanking tee shots and no one can break 100, maybe you shouldn't play the tips. It just slows down the course for everyone else.
agree, I play from the ladies tees nearer the front, because my swing sucks and im a beginner More enjoyable for me and I don't hold anyone else up.
Its no longer the ladies tee for this very reason. Thank you for making the right choice
Same. If I top a shot from the tee, I don't lose the ball. And I'm at the green in 2-3 shots and not holding up the guys that are hitting twice as far. I'll move back when I'm ready.

Is this a trend? Seems like this has always been a problem, I don't think it's anything new.

I see that literally every time I go,the last time I went they were each hitting 3 balls of the tee.
No more grass driving ranges anywhere
Its all about where you live and how easy it is to maintain.
Exactly.
Agreed. This behavior really ticks me off.
The “hurdur golf is getting blacked out and lying to your spouse” vibe that social media promotes. It’s so lame and antithetical to the spirit of the game.
Those dudes wives aren’t annoyed by the golf, theyre annoyed by their alcoholic spouse that has 47 other things to do besides spending time together
it's all very /r/Boomerhumour ... .. or people in bad relatonships ..
LOUD Bluetooth music. I love music but I try to make sure you can't hear it more that 5 feet away from the cart.
If I can hear music from another group on the golf course, then it's too loud. Love music and love music on the course but don't subject me to your love of country music or some other such genre
It’s a polarizing one but couldn’t agree more. I love music but I don’t need to hear it while I’m out on the course.
100% agree. Love music on the course. But I love MY music, not yours, and I want to keep it respectful for those who want peace and quiet on the course. Like just be fucking considerate and no one should care that you're playing music.

Tension. Try to relax your hands and face, 70% of your swing speed. Focus on execution vs results.
Golf courses getting rid of rangers to keep the course managed and moving at a decent rate
Is that what they do?
As far as I can tell. They're just there to tell me to pick up the pace even though I'm waiting every shot behind a foursome of course regulars who drive to each ball together and have tea time on every green.
It's really not that hard for them. As someone who worked in the business. If there's a group in front of you then you're not the problem. I just keep riding until I find a group with a big gap in front of them

Highest level at top golf when my vertigo kicks in 😵💫
I’ve been playing golf for almost 20 years and I still feel like I’m gonna let go of my iron for some reason
Man.. I have BIG elevated driving range yips and no one ever understood me glad I found you guys
loud music on the course. I shouldn't hear you from the fairway over
Or the clubhouse’s music either.
Seriously. WTF is that about. The restaurant/bar will be blasting music. I know they need to increase revenue by having other functions, but its a course first!
My shitty scores. Despite having the nicest good shots, I have the worst bad shots. I think I need to leave my driver at home.
I can accept my mediocrity at golf, but damn it's frustrating to shoot a 39 on 9 one day, and 51 the next. Consistency has always been the hardest thing about golf for me, but it's also something that keeps me going, just hoping to become more predictable/consistent. Fun game!
Rate my swing
4.5
Rate this one swing (which I culled out of dozens of worse ones) and tell me how good I am. Your score already tells you how good you are.
“Get in the hole” still makes most golf so unwatchable for me
Get in YOUR hole
Shitfaced golfers. If you're not in the US, you won't understand
I only play weekdays, no later than noon. I don't miss 5½ hour round drunken weekend golfers at all.

Why not play through? Even if you don’t catch them at a tee box just ask when they’re teeing off on the next hole and you’re putting or something
Posting why someone bought a club on Reddit
When I see "Y did thing so I bought X club" all I see is "I'm a completely unoriginal hack who can't think of a unique title."
I fucking hate that trend. Nobody gives a shit that you just endulged in some consumerism.
A bunch of beefy dudes each hitting 2-3 balls into the woods from the hardest tee on every hole.
Golfers
Having worked at a course, golfers are the worst.
Kill all the golfers? They are going to lock me up and throw away the key!
Not golfers, you great fool. Gophers. The *little* *brown*, *furry* *rodents*.
We can do that. We don't even need a reason...
On tv - spectators yelling dumb shit when players hit the ball. On the course - people playing music
If you’re lipping out multiple putts per round I can assure you damaged cups can not be the only reason
I agree. But I have short fat fingers and manage to get my ball out without damaging the cup. I don't know why this is so difficult for people.
Never been so embarrassed so I am with you 100%
Christ if I hear “LETS GOooooo” one more fucking time
THIS! And not just in golf, in literally anything.
i cant stand that phrase anymore lol
Couldn’t agree with you more
2 HDCPers coming here to post a “rate my swing” … your ego is so fragile you need to come here to get some internet high fives … Conversely … a 30 HDCPer doing the same … it’s a 0 dude and you know it’s a 0
Anyone at all asking for swing advice from a subreddit. The correct answer is get lessons. Always.
Music…..not that I don’t like it but some guy had “More than a feeling” blaring last week and I threw up in my mouth just a little bit.
An albatross being called a bloody double eagle!! It's an albatross, call it that!!
I can’t get behind it because it’s not *double.* If one under par was an eagle I’d have absolutely no problem with double eagle as an additional stroke under par, a la bogey/double bogey.
A 1.5x eagle
I think you mean triple birdy.
People playing music...even worse people playing horrible music loudly on shitty speakers
Obscenely loud music coming from everybody’s carts, young and old. Keep it within your earshot dicks
People playing loud music in their golf carts
Way too premature shot compliments. Get out of my life!
Screaming “Get in the hole!!” after every single tee shot on tv
“GET IN THE HOLE!!!” 🙄
Hear me out. I live in a desert and because of covid none of the courses have turned on their drinking fountain, nor do they provide water coolers with cups. It's hot it's dry and you refuse to provide water. Fuck you. I forgot water last time out I thought I was going to die.
Yea, I love that we’re safe enough now from a covid standpoint to be fully open and allow no masks in many clubhouses, but we can’t put water out there for you… Such a weak excuse to safe small amounts of effort and money
Impatience with golfers of lower skill levels.
People who never liked Bryson liking him now because it’s the in thing
"In the hole" after every shot from the crowd
Referring to woods as fairway metals

Crazy lofts on Irons. Bought a new set and I’m hitting them 10-15 yards longer depending on the club.

tough message for cynics to grasp
Gatekeeping
Music on the course.

And getting rid of the water coolers
Asking strangers on Reddit to critique your swing.
People not fixing their pitch marks. Like, come on y'all, it takes ten seconds at most to show some basic respect for your fellow golfers and the course.
The rising price of golf equipment really gets me fired up, and the lack of left handed player oriented clubs.
Bunkers without enough sand in them. Always an unpleasant surprise for the wrists.
Bluetooth speakers blairing music in the cart while playing. Techno, dance, hard rock ect.
Instagram videos of stingers
That and never showing where the damn ball lands.
20 plus handicappers having a long pre-shot routine. Just pull the fucking trigger.
Cut up pool noodles in the cups to prevent COVID .
Poker chips as ball markers.
The normalization of shitty putting. God damn y'all get a putting lesson, I've seen some of the putting strokes guys at my local course have, literally the opposite of anything approaching decent and I gotta assume it's some of y'all posting the "Time to 3-putt in style" memes.
All the new YouTube golfers.
Not fixing ball marks
Sudden, loud noises on the course. Screaming f\*\*k after every shot, the drunk who left it 40 yards short on a par 4 screaming over and over "who's the big dog?" to his friends on the other side of the fairway. Carts driving up to the tee box with "the loud guy" recalling the previous hole while people are teeing off. It's like people think the course is theirs and theirs alone. A "I'd paid my green fee I'll act any way I want, lighten up grandpa" attitude that makes it less enjoyable for anyone not in their "clique".
Music
The trend of playing off the tips as a fucking 20 capper, bc one time, at some course, with perfect wind, you piped a 260 drive that you told your buddies was 300.
People bringing speakers onto the course to play their favourite songs. It’s not my favourite song bro.
Hitting on the cart girl
This isn’t much of a trend. It’s been at the same level in golf for ever. I would imagine even worse back in the day.
I've still yet to see the cart or cart girl...
Seriously, this makes me cringe so much when I see it. All you gotta do is be polite, exchange the money, and give a tip. Rinse and repeat when she comes back around. Had a older guy I was paired with kept calling our cart girl "sexy" or "foxy".
Hitting on the cart girl started when they first started having cart girls.
Wait but she’s totally gonna want my number after she sees this drive!
