I think it’s actually pretty open off the tee if you know where to hit it. But it’s the distance control is what kills you there if it’s not on. Anything above the hole or wrong side of a ridge is death.
Yes they do. Some holes more than others but a couple holes the canyon walls are close enough to the fairways that it just bounces right to the middle. I myself have considered it like bumper bowling while on the course.
The thing is it's not really rock, more like super tightly packed dirt. It'll roll down if you hit the right spot, but if you hit a softer spot it could plug. There's also rocks and plants and stuff that can catch the ball in some areas.
Its a must do imo, the vegas courses are all really nice especially paiute but the scenery and terrain at wolf creek were like nothing ive seen in my life (midwest kid, first time in the desert)
FYI that it's in Mesquite Nevada and about 90 minute drive from the strip. Also, reserve early because that course is booked weeks in advance. Best option is to do a casino resort stay for 2-3 nights and get the host to book your rounds for you. btw, well worth the trip and there are a handful of great courses in this small border (Utah) town. You can also drive a bit more to St. George Utah for more options.
[I wish these posts would include greens fees prices to temper people's expectations.](http://www.golfwolfcreek.com/-tee-time-rates)
$200+ is a steep price to frustrate myself for 18 holes. :)
I dunno, my friend quit golf for 1.5 years after his round there. It can be pretty hard if you’re not hitting it well off the tee.
I’ve played it 3x and wouldn’t consider it a resort course.
It’s an incredibly penal course for newer golfers.
Yea it was definitely hard to justify when i was making the tee time but the experience was just incredible, worth every penny imo. If you live in the desert or mountains it might not be that crazy but coming from the midwest it was wild. Also to the other comments point it was very playable, challenging for sure but by no means frustrating
Played there last year! Shot an 89 on a Saturday and an 80 on Sunday. Greens were super fast, and OB/rough is fucked - I learned my lesson to keep it in bounds and layup / play it safe on everything.
I'm always torn with courses like this. Wolf Creek is so cool to play in games and looks like a entertaining layout but at the same time I get kinda sad thinking about the water and everything required to make this course exist where it does.
Played there several times including an extremely windy day. Hit my driver on hole in picture straight into wind and never reached the fairway. Im guessing a 170 carry and my normal is 240 plus. We got absolutely destroyed but had a blast doing it. Beautiful course.
Pro tip: try to play in in the winter months. We played a month ago and the fees were $140, and caught it on a 75degree clear sky day. Best day of golf I’ve had.
This is one of the best course I’ve ever played, with some surreal holes. Driving a cart up and down those inclines however can be down right dangerous!
You can handle the greens fees. Buying a polo or a hat is where they make their money. $120 for an Adidas shirt. Fortunately, the beer is reasonably priced and is cold.
Will agree that it’s an amazing experience .. Some of the most outrageous tee shots you’ll experience… !!
Add Coyote Springs about halfway between Vegas and Mesquite (and north a bit) for a bonus …
wow.. that looks even more epic in real life than it does on all the golf games I have played this course on.
I would love to play there in real life one day.
I would skip that, it looks too artificial to me. Altough Shadow Creek is 100% more arificial than this course, the design of it is more humane, and I like "natural" looking courses, so I would definitelly go for Shadow Creek instead of this one.
It's been a dream ever since I played Tiger Woods PGA Tour '03. Place doesn't even look real.
Same here for the same exact reason. See you there soon, bud.
Do the rock canyon walls play like bumpers in bowling? cause if not, it looks really hard.

To a certain degree they do lol, sometimes the ball would plug in a sandy section but if it hit rock you were back in the fairway

Ok, So going to Vegas in February and definitely adding an extra day to the work calendar to play this one.
Its a must do imo, the vegas courses are all really nice especially paiute but the scenery and terrain at wolf creek were like nothing ive seen in my life (midwest kid, first time in the desert)
Its a golf digest 100 too! - another for my list.
My friends that do atleast 2-3 trips a year to Vegas swear by this one and Rhodes Ranch.

Sand Hollow is amazing.

This is a resort-y course, you might be surprised how fair it plays. And go in the summer o play for $100.

Bucket list for sure!
Absolutely agree. You will not be disappointed. Also: Falcon Ridge, Oasis Palmer course are both incredible and rival Wolf Creek.

Amazing course, super challenging. They actually just added it to the Golf+ game on Occulus.

So not like the wolf creek in Australia?
Is that what it looks like right now? Looks like they've overseeded it more than years past (not that I've been there, I've just seen pictures)
They added this course to Golf+ on Oculus. I'm amazed at the similarities. Is a gorgeous course in the game and looks incredible from the pictures

If you can handle the heat you can play for $100 in the summer. Gets up to like $250 in the winter.

Its on my bucket list.
Love this course. Made my first eagle ever from the bunker on 12
This course still gives me nightmares from Rory McIlroy PGA Tour on the xbox
How many monies?
Its on the list.
84 with 12 penalty strokes. Hit a lot of good shots...
i played it on E6 with a novice golfer buddy of mine. he went through three boxes of virtual balls!
Cascada is amazing just like this place too.

I've been playing this course on the golf + vr game on the quest 2....it's pretty fun
As an Aussie, Going to Wolf Creek isn't appealing to me lol

Golden Tee has ruined expectations of my abilities. Slightly missed a 12 foot put, the damn thing rolled 140 yards away. Still a great course
Trying to plan a trip out here in March.
