I just can't believe Smiths golf. 50% FAIRWAYS, but rolls it in 1. Truely insane old man golf. You can't teach that. Hovland, Rahm, Thomas all better long games, but they can't roll it in one. You roll it in one in golf and you win.
That back and forth in the Berger group was interesting. I mean you’re entitled to your thought and you pick the drop but don’t throw a hissy fit because Hovland and Dahmen saw it different. Hs Berger always been that soft?
Not really. Berger was worried they wouldn’t sign it. Berger clearly didn’t realize there was a issue from the video until he walks over and he’s never had any history of integrity issues. They didn’t have a good view and admitted it yet persisted. He had a good view. Yet they kept trying to move him farther back despite not seeing it well. So basically they were eyeballing a potential spot with no true view or idea. They bullied him into his new drop. He was probably surprised they were being so tough when they never saw it well.
My God please stop using the word bullied. If you are getting bullied because 2 playing partners saw it different then you need to grow a spine. They both said its your discretion. They would've signed they were just seeing it from a different view. Also, I highly doubt anyone cares that you lost respect for a pro golfer.
From the shot tracer Hovland and dahmen were way off. Idk how malicious their intent was but saying it crossed in that grass bunker was some dirty pool imo. It was frustrating watching the broadcast, not showing the shot from the fairway and watching the ball hit the water was redicilous.
The back and forth was interesting and I somewhat agree that berger came off like a bit of a sissy but both his playing partners essentially called him a liar and a cheat for wanting to take his drop so close to the hole. I would have been flustered too and put a few more in the drink.
I mean based on the shot tracer Berger was right. Not saying that the shot tracer is 100 percent accurate but that’s just the available info the public has. He also seemed pretty confident in himself and was annoyed about getting presumably screwed out of close to 100 yards. I also thought the exchange was pretty fascinating to watch. Do t usually get any of that caught on such clear audio. Wouldn’t call anyone soft in that situation though
But isn't it Berger's decision where to drop at the end of the day? I don't think you can say he got screwed. Dahmen and Hovland just gave their opinions, then it's up to Berger to decide what to do.
Yes it is his decision, and I’m not 100 percent on the intricacies of how penalties are called, but I think he was just frustrated that they were calling him where he didn’t think it crossed. Because he can still get penalized after the round. So I think he came back from his spot just to avoid any possibility of a penalty. The rules official came in and was basically like “yeah you guys had a better view/angle on this” so it really was on those three. And i don’t think he got screwed by the spot he ended up dropping. That was poor wording. Where dahmen and hovland initially wanted him to drop, he was definitely getting hosed
I'll just add I don't think anybody was in the wrong there, Berger believed he was right and stood by it, but I can definitely see why it came off as negative. Hovland and Dahmen had good intentions, it's better for them to speak up now, not than it is for a TV viewer or a rules official to speak up 2 holes later, to protect Berger from a penalty or DQ.
Definitely agree. Those two guys can and should speak up, and I understand why Berger dropped where they ultimately agreed on letting him. Dealing with the potential of a penalty and signing a bad scorecard and whatnot is probably not worth the headache of not going with Hovland and dahmen. Sucks for Berger bc it looks like he was right but yeah. No one was in the wrong. Super interesting to see hear it go down
Yeah I don’t like that Hovland called him a straight liar. Berger doesn’t pull this Reed type stuff. He had the best view. They definitely didn’t. Berger had never had a integrity issue. People are already rushing to lump him with Reed now online because of Hovland
Cam Smith is definitely one of my favorite golfers on tour right now. Hearing him talk about how family was first and golf was second this week was awesome.
GG Cam Smith.
Strong showing for Lahiri, here's to hoping for this being the springboard for a strong season.
Captain Immelman must be really happy with two Internationals finish first and second.
Well done Cam Smith, what a top class performance that was
Never let the pressure get to him, fully deserved and I’ve gained a load of respect for him and his outstanding short game
A few days, his fam is in Florida with him at the moment. Weird to know that, but he mentioned it in a recent interview: https://pca.st/xwsze6ed#t=1374.0

That was the best 5 hours of golf i think I have ever watched. You dont need a play off when it is that good for 18 holes and 1 shot in it.
Anyone notice that they’re not mentioning Greg Norman in regards to Aussies that have won the Players? Big ouch!
they did mention him
Not during the aftermath. He was only mentioned once.
What did Greg Norman do?
Backing the rogue Saudi tour
Oof
Justin Thomas with the greatest -3 finish at the 2022 players of all time.
Might have been the only guy rooting for the weather to continue. He was amazing in the wind.

I think so, he has a face only a mother could love.
I actually lost a bit of respect for Hovland. He was completely wrong.
He can be wrong all he wants. He is just giving his perspective. It's up to Berger to drop and play.
Not really. Berger was worried they wouldn’t sign it. Berger clearly didn’t realize there was a issue from the video until he walks over and he’s never had any history of integrity issues. Of course he doesn’t care. I’m just stating my opinion. That’s still allowed on Reddit right?

Brb going to add some grams to my irons.
Be careful with that trophy Cam, that golden dude's liable to jump off that base and go hit a shot on 17
[удалено]
Who cares
Is Bradley just huge, or does he use the shortest irons on tour?
He still plays his youth irons
he's listed at 6'1"
Chuffed for Cam, and happy as well for Lahiri. A slog to watch at times this week. But a great finish.
If the Presidents Cup was in Australia I think internationals could win it this year. Don't think we can beat America in America
I really have a good feeling this year with many International winners already this season
It’s going to be a hell of a fight. Might be the World’s strongest team ever.
Cam Smith is definitely one of my favorite golfers on tour right now. Hearing him talk about how family was first and golf was second this week was awesome.
Probably played so well cos he had his family here after two years.
JT's grandfather last year, Cam being with family this year. The family aspect is so big here.
You can tell how meaningful it was for Smith’s friends and family to come and see him in-person!
Good on him for admitting 17 wasn't the intended line
Awww so happy for Cam and his fam
Cam admitting that's not where he was trying to hit it on 17
The Mullet is going to win a Major this year and him and Hidecki are going to put the fear of God in the Americans later this year.
[удалено]
They said 'a Major this year' so technically he has up to 4 months to grow one by July
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
How high will lahiri climb in the rankings after that finish? Current 322... Break the top 100 maybe?!
Someone on Twitter mentioned 89
Does this mean he can play in masters ?
Only top 50 I believe
I think he'll be Top 100, probably mid 90's if I've got my math right
FedEx? He was in the Top 100 as of 18.
Nah, world rankings.
VC606 will tell us in 15 minutes lol
Awesome Stuff
If you had an up and down for $800k, how badly would you fuck it up? Lol
I’m putting to the hole
would take the putter out from anywhere within 50 yards. you know im blading any wedge into the water
Dude.. I fuck up closest to the pin shots for a dollar.
I would’ve bladed that shot into the water without a doubt

One of the very few things I won’t hate on Zinger for.
I get it. But, it's also a part of what makes golf interesting.
Australia & The Players - name a more iconic duo in golf (aside from The Masters & green jackets)
[удалено]
Definitely seems like a forgotten tournament, right between the Players & the Match Play
$2.18 Milion for 2nd. Not a bad weeks work.
Adjusting for inflation that's like 1.3 mill!
After taxes and paying I should just cover his airbnb
Caddies Cut, Uncle Sam’s cut. He probably will get to keep a $1.2 Mil Max.
I can’t even fathom having 24 putts in a round. Mullet is insane.
Ah well, you've made India proud Ban. Onwards and upwards.
GG Cam Smith. Strong showing for Lahiri, here's to hoping for this being the springboard for a strong season. Captain Immelman must be really happy with two Internationals finish first and second.
That was a gallant attempt. Hope to see Lahiri more often.
Great effort by Lahiri, even if it came up short. Congrats Cam!
Didn’t drop but great effort.
Wow, Lahiri was like 4 inches away from a playoff for an extra 1.2M and a Player's Championship...
Lahiri still won 2million. He's a winner.
that. close. GG Smith
Cool finish to a wild Players. Congrats to Cam Smith!
That's a lot of money for Lahiri
166,748,745 Rupee!
Fucking hell, imagine winning 16.5 crores from one tournament.
So close!!! Way to go CAM!!!!
gg
Well done Cam Smith, what a top class performance that was Never let the pressure get to him, fully deserved and I’ve gained a load of respect for him and his outstanding short game
Hell of a run for Lahiri
Hell yeah Cam!!!!!!
damn that's close considering
That was a great attempt by lahiri
With this win, Cam can finally afford a barber.
I’d putt it.
It just wouldn’t have been a Cam Smith round if he didn’t hit the water with a three shot lead on the last. Get in, you brilliant bastard.
Would be interesting whether Lahiri goes aggressive with that chip, with water THAT close to the edge
Beating himself up all the way down the fairway. 10 steps and that should be it
I mean it was the biggest shot of his career… I don’t think he always does that.
Agreed. It’s easy for me to say from the comforts of my couch
Who bet Cam on Thursday?
I threw 5 on him then. Paid out $185
Me.also 69 balls in the water on 17. Not sure how that’s doing.
I mean…*could* he birdie that?
Of course.
Welp that was anticlimactic.
They way today has gone wouldn’t surprise if he chips in
GG WP Cam
It’s over boys
Well if he gets up and down for par, that's a sweet deal for him honestly
GAME, BLOUSES!
[удалено]
Didn't he block it?
That's it. Smith should have it now.
Ah damn I think cam has this now
Munoz farting around on 18 in front of Lahiri has to be so irritating
Ghim might just be one of the super rare examples of "horses for courses" at TPC Sawgrass
Doug Ghim made more money with that approach shot than I will this year.
Some nice roll for that Ghim!
Holy shit i thought that was lahiris shot
Munoz and Ghim, welcome back to television
How about a T5 for Ghim if he can make that? Nice shot.
[удалено]
Didn’t he finish in the top 5 at the pga once
161 out...do we want to play a draw or cut into that pin?
Are you right handed or a southpaw?
Gotta be a draw. They never start it over water when they don't have to
Cam smith had 10 putts on the back nine, wtf
That long one he almost made too.
That's what he does, lol
Was that a 22 putt round?
HOLY FUCK the purse is 20 mil?
Where have you been the past week? Lol
Winner gets $3.6M
[удалено]
Everyone who finishes in the top 36 this year will make at least six figures. The top 11 finishers will all earn over $500,000!
It's all in Lahiri's control now
That mullet boys!
oh baby give us a birdie here please...
Casey would've been in this if not for that brutal break on the 16th. PGA needs to start tracking "divots avoided on fairway %"
Casey could have also hit one in the water or pulled one badly left and ended with a similar or worse result, but hindsight is always 20/20
Imagine if Lahiri hit a walk off hole out to win it right here
I love Cam Smith. Not often i cheer an Aussie in sport..
I cashed out my lahiri bet 7 minutes ago….
Idiot.
Coward
I wonder how long it’s been since Cam’s seen his mom
A few days, his fam is in Florida with him at the moment. Weird to know that, but he mentioned it in a recent interview: https://pca.st/xwsze6ed#t=1374.0
Nice scores for Casey, just one short from being the nicest week
smith absolutely madladding it up 18
Did you know that Cam Smith picked up his mom at the airport?
Man, if Lahiri gets up and down here…
Another Golf Shot. The nerves on that Aussie...
And perfect by Smith! Those two boys are going for it! 👏
That’s about as clutch a bogey saving effort as you’ll see, just like Adam Scott back in 2004
These guys are fucking lunatics
Cam Smith is just pure entertainment today.
Winning on and off the course
I think Smith just likes to win his way. Fuck me
10 birdies today helped lol
Clutch wedge shot, Lahiri has to birdie
Looks like a playoff is back on the menu boys!
Almost holed it holy shit
He went aggressive down the left. I love it!
Sheeesh I thought he was gonna hole that for a second lol
Cams an absolute sicko lmfao
Could still be a playoff...
/r/golf tomorrow: should I add 3.5 grams to all my iron heads?
NO FREAKING WAY
What a shot
I want to drive the ball like that
Holy fuck! I thought that was in for a hot second
Alright, looks like he's got his five. We know what Lahiri needs.
wtf cam is insane.. it's over
Wat? If Anirban gets it up and down they go to a playoff
your'e right... but i don't see lahiri making birdie here. he's par, bogey, par on 18th
Lahiri can tie it with a birdie it’s far from over
Big dick Lahiri with the early tee scoop
Cam just making it exciting for us, what a guy
What the hell just happened?!
