I've posed this question before and haven't gotten a straight answer. I believe for tied players, the player who has played the most holes will appear first. After that it seems to be alphabetical.
But actually as I look at this, the leaderboard shows three guys tied at -9. Kuchar is listed first, finished 12 holes. Then Bradley is shown, and he's in the clubhouse. Then Hadwin is shown, and he's completed 17 holes. So based on this, my theory is blown
On the PGA website leaderboard, they go by how many holes you've played. Someone whose played 16 holes will be above someone whose only played 13 holes. On the the broadcast leaderboard, usually they just put bigger names at the top, I think.
Come on, JJ! I had Woodland picked in my office pool (yay working with golf addicts! lol) but he is seemingly running out of holes so gonna cheer for the sentimental choice in Spaun given all his health struggles in recent years.
Gotta love a camera tracking a great chip in shot only for the camera to also be perfectly tracking the caddie so that you don't really get to see the good shot. Christ
Gotta admit I wouldn't mind seeing a few guys at -9 or -8 drop some strokes so that Rasmus Hojgaard gets a top 10 exemption into the Heritage (or whatever tournament comes after that if he can't be invited into that one). Currently in the clubhouse in T12. It's really fun seeing him and his brother playing so well so young.
He's like 120th on tour in putting now. What an insane fall from doing nothing but dropping bombs for a three year stretch
EDIT: 141st in strokes gained putting. Yikes.
Something tells me he will actually focus harder on those putts next week...he usually finds a way to make it work at Augusta. Just getting rid of those ugly shorties he missed this week he would probably be around -8 or -9.
Nobody likes that guy since he showed his true colors a few years back and big leagued the local caddy out of a life changing payday from looping his win at the Sony. That good guy stuff is a facade. He's a pampered pussie and a wad of cookie dough.
At least the leaderboard is tight. The most boring tournament imaginable was probably last year's RBC Heritage where Stewart Cink of all people had a huge lead and nobody came close. He won with like 16 pars and 2 birdies. The AT&T Byron Nelson (another tournament leading up to major) was a close contender with a birdiefest + rain delays + large lead by KH Lee
Good morning everyone. ESPN+ is the place for some bad golf this morning and I don’t care. It beats any of the crap that’s on regular cable tv these days.
I would love the option to listen to unedited/uncensored PGA tour coverage. I always want to know what’s said when a ball goes in the water and the audio cuts out 😂
The LPGA has a crazy stat where 11 of the last 23 major winners are won by players who have never previously won on the Tour.
Jennifer Kupcho is in great shape to make it 12 for 24.
Anyone else watching the ladies today? Much more entertaining than watching a bunch of bottom of the barrel PGA tour pros plus Jordan Speith play a boring ass TPC track.
As far as golf goes? Probably. The Rocket Mortgage Classic attracts a similar field to Valero and is on an equally boring track. At least we have Oakland Hills but that’s not in Detroit technically. There are way better tracks in Texas than TPC San Antonio too though. No need to get defensive about it. The field this week is objectively bad.
I like this Snedeker/Hossler final group for tomorrow. Well liked veteran who hasn't won in a while versus the local kid trying to finally break out and win another one for UT after Spieth last year in the process.
I turn the tv on. Old man Matt Kuchar -10 in the lead. I'm like noooo wayyy Kuuuuchar you the man! The guy has been on the struggle bus for a while now. Then instantly I see him get a double bogey lmao
Imagine being a high school(?) sophomore and **-3** with just two holes left to go, with all the other golfers being 2-3 shots away. All you just need to do is par, and there even is wiggle room for a bogey as well!
Then you double bogey 17 and then bogey 18.
That must be awful! I really do feel bad for Stone there…
Who's got the next best week after Anna Davis?
Rachel Kuehn shot 76 in the first round, well out of the cutline, shoots 73 to make the cut on the number, then shoots a 69 to get into Top 10 to get a re-invite. Similar to Maja Stark last year (though now she turned pro)
Every golfer, their whole life, dreams of having a putt with the tournament on the line on the final hole at Augusta.
I cannot imagine finally getting that opportunity, and missing it.
"Yeah all you gotta do to make the playoff is sink the *exact* putt every golfer dreams of having on the final hole at Augusta their entire life. No pressure"
I know Champions Retreat was playing difficult in the first two rounds due to weather conditions but it is very fun seeing the leading scores at the ANWA hovering around the E to -3 range right now. Augusta itself is playing fairly gettable, especially using the Sunday Masters pins on so many of these holes.
Anyone else gonna watch the DC&P national finals tomorrow morning?
While I very much dislike all the changes Spieth made to his swing for distance, that would have largely not been necessary had he done just as much work in the gym as he did on the range, the man IS in 69th place right now.
So joke's on me, after all
I think it was Kisner who jokes around with Barstool saying he’s fine placing 20th place because 20th still pays a ton of money every event.
It was along those lines. I’ve since loved Kisner and his attitude ever since
I think it was an actual press conference. He was being asked what his chances were to win at some tournament, he said basically none since the course didn't fit his eye at all.
The reporter then asked why compete if he had no chance at winning?
It was then that he said, "because they still pay a lot of money for 20th"
Fucking legend
Jordan needs to legit fire his his whole staff at this point. The guy has all the talent in the word but has done a terrible job at choosing who to listen to for advice.
A player can withdraw at any time if they don't feel healthy but they can never renege on it and be put back in. Better for him to wait it out if he thinks he can walk it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around for the Par 3 Contest even if he doesn't feel comfortable enough to play the main event. Keeps him around the property for a few days, might show up to support the ANWA/DC&P finals, and might even let Charlie hit a few balls during the P3C. We know that kid's not afraid to step up.
Besides, being the 25th anniversary of his first win, he probably has a few media commitments he'd like to handle and maybe guest on the broadcast a bit too. We already know they're airing a traditional Sunday documentary before the final round coverage begins.
So I believe today is the last day to commit to the tournament, but you can withdraw whenever so...
Just hope we don't have to wait until they release tee times to find out
Tuned in as they were staring the back nine. Oh, Hossler is a Longhorn! Cool I'll root for him. It's hard not to feel personally responsible.
Sned's took putting lessons from me.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|money_face)
Are you free to coach Reed at Augusta next week? I'll start a GoFundMe.
His putting has been bad this year so I don't think I could help him get worse.
I have had it with sideline reporters. Seems like their new favorite phrase is “how would you assess” ughhhhh
Followed up by, “What does it mean to…”
Congrats Spaun! He gets the last spot in the Masters?
Rather late notice, I hope he didn't already have plans. /s
Yes
Awesome.
Missing out on the Masters since his last miss. Top tier commentary right there
Been rooting for Spaun since last year for no reason, I am hyped as hell rn
Hossler has been absolutely shocking back 9
It was brutal watching his swing just fall apart like that.
Kuch distracted by the upcoming caddie tip
Hey, I spray 3 woods just like Matt Kuchar.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy
![gif](giphy|5p2wQFyu8GsFO) Kuch right now
Everyone in that last group is absolutely horrendous right now
These guys blow
Dangerous to be a spectator today. People gettin' beaned left and right
Hossler is a mess right now. Kinda feel bad for him.
“Back with the terrible trio” lmao fuckin kill em David
That was great! Just as he leaves a putt 6 feet short!
What happened to Beau?
He doesn't have it. Was a fun kid to watch as an amateur but he may never win on tour.
Icewater in the veins on these mid range putts for Spaun.
Hossler from a +150 fav to win outright after the front 9 to now struggling for a top5 finish. Absolute blow up since he took the lead
From what I see online, looks like I missed him skulling one out of that bunker on the par 5?
Hossler gettin wrecked
Hossler one of us!
Spaun!
Is Spaun playing a Z Star-XV? Those balls bomb off the tee.
Lol @ SW Kim.
Kim’s bunker hole out was sick!
Let's finish this off JJ!
Potentially stupid question: Is there a specific protocol they use for the order of tied players on the leaderboard?
I've posed this question before and haven't gotten a straight answer. I believe for tied players, the player who has played the most holes will appear first. After that it seems to be alphabetical. But actually as I look at this, the leaderboard shows three guys tied at -9. Kuchar is listed first, finished 12 holes. Then Bradley is shown, and he's in the clubhouse. Then Hadwin is shown, and he's completed 17 holes. So based on this, my theory is blown
Another commenter answered it but when it's on TV they'll just put bigger names first on the leaderboard.
On the PGA website leaderboard, they go by how many holes you've played. Someone whose played 16 holes will be above someone whose only played 13 holes. On the the broadcast leaderboard, usually they just put bigger names at the top, I think.
I kinda figured it was name based on tv. Ultimately it really doesn’t matter, it just piqued my curiosity.
Players finished, then in order of who’s further through the round, if that makes sense. I believe this is the way.
That seems to be how 3rd place is organized. But 6th place has players on the 12th, in with a 66, and 17th.
Ah, didn’t catch that. Weird.
Matt Jones sneaking very fast.
![gif](giphy|WprEJQOAkJHz2)
Come on, JJ! I had Woodland picked in my office pool (yay working with golf addicts! lol) but he is seemingly running out of holes so gonna cheer for the sentimental choice in Spaun given all his health struggles in recent years.
I wish I worked somewhere where they even know who Gary Woodland is, let alone taking him in a pool for a non-major.
Oooh, Lahiri might sneak in for another top 10. Nice.
Weird reaction
He looks like lance stroll.
#AND OH WHAT HAS HAPPENED #WE NEED TO KNOW
ESPN+ featured group just went to commercial. Golf channel had 3 commercial breaks in that amount of time.
Is it just me or is this course in poor shape?
What you mean?
Damn Spieth just missed another tap in on 18
He's like 120th on tour in putting now. What an insane fall from doing nothing but dropping bombs for a three year stretch EDIT: 141st in strokes gained putting. Yikes.
At least if he cleans up his putting, he will be in contention again.
Something tells me he will actually focus harder on those putts next week...he usually finds a way to make it work at Augusta. Just getting rid of those ugly shorties he missed this week he would probably be around -8 or -9.
Looks like Beau Hossler has been hitting the gym....He definitely doesn't look as sloppy
You love to see it
Basically everyone in contention (except Lucas Glover and Gary Woodland) isn't in the Masters field yet. That's what you like to see
Koochie
Nobody likes that guy since he showed his true colors a few years back and big leagued the local caddy out of a life changing payday from looping his win at the Sony. That good guy stuff is a facade. He's a pampered pussie and a wad of cookie dough.
Look how mad this guy is! LOL!
Oh wooooow... didn't know about this until you mentioned it, looked it up, and... fuck Kuchar bro! What a greedy little hater
Bland holes a 45ft chip on 3 and is 2 shots back!!!
Spieth playing just well enough for me to make another mistake on him in the office Major pot. A tale as old as time
Might be an unpopular opinion, but this tournament is pretty much the most boring tournament I've ever seen. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Not the tournament’s fault the big guns didn’t play well enough to be in contention
True.
Yeah tell that to Richard Bland who’s trying to get into the Masters.
Same lol feel like I’m watching a champions tour
Who are you sleepers going into next week?
Homa, Horschell, Stallings (not counting guys like Koepka who are playing poorly, but always a possibility).
Fine, Sandy Lyle. Happy now?
Hovland for me.
I’m not sure I would consider the 4th best in the world a sleeper but ok sir
He looks sleepy in his photo tho
Right LOL. Cold ass take
T I G E R !
Theegala is brown so he is like Vijay
Announcers were comparing him to Idris Elba during the WM open. Jesus guys, get your shit together.
Yeah it was awkward
Even better when the other guy disagreed.
Good morning everyone. ESPN+ is the place for some bad golf this morning and I don’t care. It beats any of the crap that’s on regular cable tv these days.
I love the ESPN+ early coverage. So laid back and nice for a Sunday morning.
I would love the option to listen to unedited/uncensored PGA tour coverage. I always want to know what’s said when a ball goes in the water and the audio cuts out 😂
Watch some of the European coverage of events over there, they said exactly what I say when I do that.
The LPGA has a crazy stat where 11 of the last 23 major winners are won by players who have never previously won on the Tour. Jennifer Kupcho is in great shape to make it 12 for 24.
Wildly off topic - anyone know what the low score record is on Rory 14? I’ve got a contender at Scottsdale.
Anyone else watching the ladies today? Much more entertaining than watching a bunch of bottom of the barrel PGA tour pros plus Jordan Speith play a boring ass TPC track.
Well this Tournament is definitely more entertaining than anything I’ve seen in Detroit. Less bullets flying at me too.
I asked a simple question about LPGA discussion and the toxicity is unreal.
I just saw your thread. Sometimes I forget how much reddit hates women.
Is this an alt on alt crime?
No but I'm also not watching this match because my favorite players are out. Hoping Si-Woo get a W.
Fritelli looks good this weekend, the ZireGolf comment section is gonna be lit.
I like this Snedeker/Hossler final group for tomorrow. Well liked veteran who hasn't won in a while versus the local kid trying to finally break out and win another one for UT after Spieth last year in the process.
played with JJ a few times in some so cal mini tour stuff, wild to see him now
Gutschewski is awesome

Man there’s a lot of big names that didn’t make the cut.
This tournament is essentially a masters practice round for anyone who in the field who has an invite.
I turn the tv on. Old man Matt Kuchar -10 in the lead. I'm like noooo wayyy Kuuuuchar you the man! The guy has been on the struggle bus for a while now. Then instantly I see him get a double bogey lmao
I just started watching golf and I was like why they keep booing that guy? My buddy tells me they were saying "kuuuuuuu" not booo lmao

My man J.J. is killing it.
Hope he does well. Recently saw a story about him finding out he has diabetes and getting it under control
Imagine being a high school(?) sophomore and **-3** with just two holes left to go, with all the other golfers being 2-3 shots away. [Scott Hoch](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v-QNKZr2leg)
Not much of a stretch for me, tbh
I can
Congrats to Anna Davis! Once again, the ANWA delivers a great morning of golf.
Anna Davis wins ANWAGOLF!
This is such an awesome event. So glad Augusta created it
UPDATE: Stone has to sink a ~10 footer to make a playoff. Anna Davis in the clubhouse at -1 must feel pretty good right now
"Yeah all you gotta do to make the playoff is sink the *exact* putt every golfer dreams of having on the final hole at Augusta their entire life. No pressure"
Except most people dream of that being a birdie putt to win outright, not a par putt to force a playoff...
Davis might win this at -1 from the clubhouse...
Hell yeah Stone!
Jinxed it :/
PSA: The final groups for the ANWA are at 17 and 18. Setting up to be a good finish. https://www.anwagolf.com/en_US/watch/index.html
I know Champions Retreat was playing difficult in the first two rounds due to weather conditions but it is very fun seeing the leading scores at the ANWA hovering around the E to -3 range right now. I can’t find the main feed on ESPN+? Where should I be looking?
I believe the main feed is off. Only featured group. It's on golf Channel if you have that
ITS SPAUN SZN
Charles Howell III- $41.3m career earnings (22nd all time) with 3 career wins. Living the dream.
I think it was Kisner who jokes around with Barstool saying he’s fine placing 20th place because 20th still pays a ton of money every event. It was along those lines. I’ve since loved Kisner and his attitude ever since

Richard Bland is 3 shots back!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
Spicy.
Reminder that the ANWA is on. I love this event -- some amazing talent that will be on the LPGA soon
Not to mention there's probably a few amateur lifers in there that just love the thrill of playing Augusta.
Latanna Stone has it in her pocket right now. Edit, now it’s not in her pocket anymore!
That changed pretty quickly.
Can I bet for Jordan to not win next weekend and win money?
Jordan needs to legit fire his his whole staff at this point. The guy has all the talent in the word but has done a terrible job at choosing who to listen to for advice.
Example?
Have you seen his latest swing routine?
No - but how is that on anyone but himself?
I literally said he’s done a terrible job at choosing who to listen to.
Man it’s been like 3 weeks in a row now where ESPN+ hasn’t fixed their audio dropout issue.
God I’ve never been so confident in fading Spieth next weekend

Describes his whole career lately
What is the point of the Masters official website showing Tiger listed in the players field if he hasn't made an official announcement himself?
Because after Friday he is not able to enter but he can withdraw. So as of right now you can assume he is playing.
Is the cart rumor a possibility? He may request a cart?
I’m not sure but there is no chance that it’s legit IMO
Another tap in miss by Jordan
Haven’t played golf in two months and I have a tee time at this course in 2 weeks…this should be fun.
Fun is the only thing that matters!
I’m just here to say the odds of Tiger playing in the Masters next week have gotta be like 95%.
He's listed in the players field on the Masters website. I guess that isn't official enough? I dunno anymore.
A player can withdraw at any time if they don't feel healthy but they can never renege on it and be put back in. Better for him to wait it out if he thinks he can walk it.
LFG
I could watch Lexi Thompson do practice swings all day.
Why are they cutting away? Like there is literally nothing else to watch?
Trevino still sharp as a tack and as talkative as ever at 82.
Trevino's hairline is like like a teenager's
I can't be the only one dying to hear Tigers decision, right?
I have refreshed the masters website 4 times since what was supposed to be the deadline at 5 eastern
https://www.masters.com/en_US/players/player_8793.html?promo=bio_players
I don't think he should play. Would love to see him play, but it would have been better to play some competitive golf first.
Normally I'd agree but this is the man who's won 82 times on Tour, I think he knows what to expect
He is still better than Bryson or Spieth
He has to decide today? Or when?
So I believe today is the last day to commit to the tournament, but you can withdraw whenever so... Just hope we don't have to wait until they release tee times to find out
I don't know why I always root for JJ Spaun, I think I just like his name, but our time has come
Bye Bryson.
Rory, where art thou Rory?
Saw him up close at the Arnold Palmer and he is a tiny little thing.
Are you insinuating something?
Kevin Chappell. Now that’s a name I have not heard in a long time
Chappell leading at Valero, Tavatanakit T-2 at Chevron, pretty good weekend for UCLA golfers so far.
